RPN Intern Leif Larsen spent a day hiking around a peat bog with Eric Reder from the Manitoba Chapter of the Wilderness Committee. Larsen was interested in seeing the land that had been leased to a peat mining company.

In this documentary Larsen and Reder talk about the value of peat, and why the Wilderness Committee are so opposed to any kind of resource development in provincial parks.

Jenna Morrison was one of two cyclists killed in Toronto. Tonight, NDP Transport Critic Olivia Chow is holding a public meeting to talk about a bill that would make guard rails on trucks mandatory in order to protect cyclists. Tomas Urbina is a documentarian who has been covering the issue and he sent us this documentary on cyclist safety, and we thought we'd present it here.

Kenya - A Mine Contraversy

Tiomin Resources, a Toronto-based mining company, concluded a deal with the Kenyan government in July 2004 for a 21 year lease to mine for titanium in Kwale district, Kenya. The mine is estimated to displace around 5000 Digo and Kamba people who currently reside in the area marked for the project.
