RPN Intern Leif Larsen spent a day hiking around a peat bog with Eric Reder from the Manitoba Chapter of the Wilderness Committee. Larsen was interested in seeing the land that had been leased to a peat mining company.

Safety for cyclists

Jenna Morrison was one of two cyclists killed in Toronto. Tonight, NDP Transport Critic Olivia Chow is holding a public meeting to talk about a bill that would make guard rails on trucks mandatory in order to protect cyclists. Tomas Urbina is a documentarian who has been covering the issue and he sent us this documentary on cyclist safety, and we thought we'd present it here.

Listen to the land 1

From August to December 2006, broadcaster Michael Riordon recorded over 40 hours of interviews and on-location sound impressions at eleven organic farms, as vegetables and herbs were harvested, and animals tended. Together the eight programs provide a dynamic vision of organic farming, a small co-operative in action, and rural survival.
