As Airport related traffic continues to increase, this action to ensure safety of the children may well continue in mornings through this week while discussions continue.

<itunes:summary>The Femme Monologues is a graphic memoir series written by Marusya Bociurkiw with graphics by Terri Roberton. It appears monthly in Xtra! Toronto and in Capital Xtra! (Ottawa). It features a wide-eyed femme discovering lesbianism, vegetarian food, women's music and butches for the first time.

The series presents short vignettes from a queer/femme/feminist archive, covering such topics as feminist publishing, women's dances, the new queer cinema and the re-emergence of butch/femme culture in the 1990s.

The first story, "On Becoming A Dissident Writer" (Part 1 appeared June 1, Part 2 is in the Pride Day issue), takes us back to the 1970s, and the funky era of feminist culture, when women's newspapers, record companies, publishers, and hey, even garages sprung up for the first time in Canada. It's about the very first time our femme heroine got published, in a feminist newspaper and the ripple effect that had on her family... and on her own identity. </itunes:summary>

Imagine a library where people are the books. Where reading a book takes the form of a dynamic conversation about an aspect of the author's lived experience.

The Human Library Project took place over a span of four days in March at the Winnipeg Public Library. There readers had the opportunity to borrow a human book for up to a half hour of conversation in the library about the book's specific topic.

Meghan Murphy, host of The F Word radio show, speaks with Wrenna Robertson, editor of the book I'll Show You Mine. Wrenna is an activist, academic and an exotic dancer. After noticing that more and more women she knew were considering labiaplasty or Female Genital Cosmetic Surgery (FGCS) as a way to correct what they considered to be 'abnormal' or unattractive vulvas, Wrenna was inspired to create this provocative, original and touching work which celebrates vulva diversity via colour photographs placed alongside personal stories from women from all walks of life.
