When you have been married for a year or more you might consider upgrading your wedding band. For example if you started with a silver ring you might want to look at platinum wedding bands. Since there’s always an increase in the price of gasoline all others followed like the LPG we’re using in our kitchen. We’re now using more of our electric stove and electric appliances as it’s more convenient and safe. We have these appliances even if using it seems not the best idea in the past because my Mom in his old age still loves to cook. She feels more comfortable using her electric stove than my gas range and it’s also safer to use when we’re out of the house so electric expenses is not an issue with us.

We just balance our usage on other appliances like choosing economical led light bulb to save lighting electric expenses, reducing the usage of more than one refrigerator, avoiding usage of computers all at the same time and some other economical savings action. Well with all these things in our mind one thing is certain, that is, the most important is Mom’s convenience and safety in doing her chosen chores in the house. My Mom doesn’t want to sit all day in her rocking chair so we just let her do one or two of what she used to do just as long as it will be easy on her.

My Auntie was glad that finally her transaction with the lessee was finalized. Her commercial place at the front of our compound was vacated a month ago and it took that long before it was taken by the right lessee. Many people asked, inquired and stated their desire to rent the place but their proposed business is not fitted for the style of the shop. My Auntie would not allow any lessee to change the look and design of her commercial business so she was really choosy. At last when the guy who wants to sell mobile and motorcycle accessories asked about the place my Auntie agreed immediately.

The guy seems to be very determined with his business even if he’s still young. Now they’re moving their things and their merchandise into the shop including their receipt printer and bar code scanner. There’s a motorcycle store opposite the shop and I was so sure that it’s the reason why the guy chose my Auntie’s place. It’s a smart choice for him because anyone who will get or buy a motorcycle would be thinking of looking for nice accessories across the road.

Gen Turned Teen!

This is a late post of my daughter Gen's 13th birthday. I had mixed emotions when my youngest daughter turned 13 which also means that she's entering the teenage years and adolescence period. I'm happy that she's turning into a nice young lady but a little sad that I'm letting go of the baby in her. Realizing that your daughter is not a baby anymore is like accepting that soon she'll be having other world aside from her family and in the future she'll meet someone special. Well maybe I'm just being sentimental over this thing but I'm just used to having two little girls and now both of them are teens. Anyway I still my little boy and really thankful that God has blessed us with another kid besides my two girls.

Back on Gen's birthday we celebrated it at Sta. Lucia where we had fun at the arcade (as always)before we dine at their fave food resto at KFC. We bought the cake before we dine and started eating it there as my kids can't resist the yummy taste of Gen's choice of Black Forest Cake. We're the last to go out the mall, really maximized our time there :)

I dropped by nearest salon to have my hair massaged and hot oil and noticed that no one’s there. The staff told me that this month is a little low peak unlike last Christmas season when most of the girls and ladies want their hair subjected to special hair treatment. She told me that the high peak again will be next month in time for Valentine’s day. I’m sure that next month will be so festive that girls wants to be prettier and people will suddenly becomes romantic at heart. This special occasion has the power to turn people to be sweet and nice as they can to their loved ones and sweethearts.

Well sweetness should be paired with special gifts like flowers, chocolates or personalized valentines jewelry to mark the special occasion and to show caring thoughts. For those couples who may want to settle down it can also be the right time for the guy to propose marriage and give the most precious engagement ring. Just writing these things makes me feel that love is in the air.

I love getting the best deals on my favorite stores because discounts help me buy more things on the next priority list of mine. I even accepted the value plus card from my regular supermarket just so my grocery expenses would earn me points to buy more supplies for the whole family. I have no luck with raffles and anything that required drawing of names that’s why I love receiving custom gift cards from friends or from frequented stores near my office location. I love collecting personalized/customized things like cards, accessories, pens, mugs etc. because it’s always nice looking on things you love with your engraved name on it. Anyway I just received gift card from the workout center at the west tower but I gave it to my office friend because I can’t fit my schedules on their time.

His Real Junior

I was sorting out decade old documents when I saw my father’s engraved desk name plates which was stored in one cabinet. Memories of the past came rushing through my mind and time stood still when I looked back at my childhood. My Dad was a government official in our town and sometimes he would bring me to his office where I would look at his desk name plate and feel proud that my father is a good and honest public servant.

He in turn will tell his colleague that I’m more like his junior except that I’m a girl. I looked like him, think like him and resemble a lot like him in my actuations and skills. Really miss him a lot these days especially when I looked at my little boy whose an exact replica of him. If Dad still lives now he would be so happy to see his grandson, his real junior.

6. I cleaned the refrigerator recently and I found some delicacies from Baguio which my daughter Gen has been saving to give to her friend.

And as for the weekend, tonight I’m looking forward to watching TV with family, finishing some online tasks and writing articles for my new parenting blog, tomorrow my plans include some ME time and shopping for husband's birthday and Sunday, I want to surprise hubby with my gift for him. He'll love it I know :)

Preparing for the Next Holiday

The long holiday season is over and we’re back to regular programming of life, work and the daily activities of everyday living. Still I remember those gifts I received and gave last month and was thankful that I was able to share my blessings again this year. I’m hoping that I’ll be able to work hard, save money and be able to buy those holiday gift ideas I have in my mind next holiday because it will bring happiness to my loved ones.

Speaking of holiday I learned that this coming Holy Week will be a long holiday again as it will be followed by National Heroes day. We’re all looking forward again on that day where we will have our regular summer camp fellowship meeting. I should start looking for tents now as our 7-year old tent has shown expiration already and we should have replacement for it as we’re going to sleep on tents on Holy Week activities.

My Parents’ Wedding Anniversary

After the long holiday season the mall I passes through every day is again busy with shoppers for wedding gifts. There are several weddings for the first month of the year, I remember my own parents married 4th of January 1964 and even though Mom was widowed 14 years ago we still remember clearly the happy celebration of their wedding anniversaries.

My Father is the most thoughtful of husband during their time and he lavished Mom with beautiful and memorable gifts. He didn’t gave my Mom any of the diamond necklaces I’ve seen in online sites but he was always the best in choosing the gifts that Mom love so much. Now is their wedding anniversary again and when I greeted Mom she began telling me how sweet was my Dad to her. They love each other so much.

Early Preparations

We've started packing up clothes and things for our fellowship vacation in Baguio. I've arranged the little boy's things in his own traveling bag and he excitedly watched me while I choose which clothes he will bring. For my big girls I told them how many they should bring including extras should we decide to stay longer then they showed me and told me that they will arrange it themselves.

When they grew older I began to feel lighter whenever when we're expecting long journey because they can fix their own things. They just need me to approve what they want to bring and assure them that they've packed enough clothes and they're fine already. I even had an easy time with DH as he has packed earlier than us. He's a light traveler and I always envy how he manage to pack just the necessary things and he did it very fast this time. Well we're 5 days ahead of our travel day and it feels good that I'll not be rushing next week. Really excited!

The reasons why some parents may hesitate to bring their kids to CT daycare centers.

Not all parents immediately welcome the idea of sending their kids to daycare centers. Some dads and moms hesitate bringing their kids to daycare for the following reasons.

· Separation anxiety. Some parents think that sending their kids to daycare causes a lot of separation anxiety for their children. The truth is, most of the time, the parents are the ones that instinctively suffer from it. The mere thought of being away from the kids conjures up ideas of helplessness and sometimes even uselessness.

In many CT daycare centers, however, this is not the case. Children in some centers are slowly trained to become independent and to enjoy the company of other kids of the same age. At the same time, parents are well informed and regularly updated about their kids’ conditions and accomplishments so they remain a part of their children’s development.

· Fear of getting burnt out. Although a few Connecticut day care centers already introduce some learning in everyday meetings, learning is not that formal. Lessons are integrated in games and activities so children never feel the pressure nor do they even become aware that they are already studying. It is fun learning so there’s no danger of burn out. On the contrary, children develop a more positive look on schooling so that they are prepared when it is time for them to move on to a CT preschool.

· Accidents and bullying. A lot of parents become paranoid when it comes to how their children are treated when they’re not looking. Who wouldn’t be? With no familiar adults beside them, and with other kids they don’t even know, it’s not very difficult to imagine how our children can easily play the part of victim in class. But, that’s usually not the case.

In many centers, teachers are specifically trained to be vigilant, to always look out for the welfare of each child, to effectively control the class so each kid becomes engaged in safe and well-planned activities throughout the whole day. Teachers in the center believe it is the most effective way of keeping them away from accidents and bullying.

These fears are all reasonable and practical but they should not stop the children from learning or enjoying learning outside of their homes.

Laminated Flooring

We’re glad to see that we had our flooring replaced with new vinyl tiles. We opt to use vinyl instead of tiles because we’re afraid that it will be too slippery for Mom. Since we’ve chosen a real tile-like design everyone would think twice if it’s a vinyl or not. Well it’s not only on the kind of tile or floor material you chose that matters but on the quality on how you install the tiles as well.

We’ve made sure that the worker we’ve hired would carefully install it to look like a continuous flooring because it’s perfectly joined together like what I saw last week which made my eyes contented. They used alloc laminate flooring which uses mechanized locking systems and claimed to last for a long time with its feature of resist wear, moisture, fade, moisture and others. Anyway since our flooring is new it’s still as beautiful as the real cement flooring. Hope our own will last also.

Green Thumb

Mom always has a green thumb in planting any flower, tree or plant in our garden and backyard. Every single thing that she plants grows abundantly. Since she’s old now and we don’t want her to do any task in the house she concentrates her time on gardening with the help of my husband who does the hard tasks. She would smile every time she sees a bud that blooms and a root that produce stems.

She loves gardening so much that I want to give her some nice garden gifts as I know she’ll appreciate it so much. She’s been telling me few days ago that maybe we should buy more pots so she can distribute her growing flowers on different places. Her enthusiasm is infectious as my husband is into gardening too much to my surprise. Just imagine my astonishment that after 15 years of marriage he’s learning the gardening skills. His brother is a landscaper so maybe he’s got talents too.

Sleep in Comfort

I had a full sound sleep last night and it made my day light and nice. I just realized how important a good sleep is. I was always sleeping late the past few weeks and when I was stricken by colds and cough it didn’t helped me that I abused my body with few sleeping hours. I’m disciplined with my meal plans and workout but I only sleep for 4-5 hours a day which makes my head ache so much most of the times. Now I’m determined to control the urge to work on my tasks late at night as I can sleep early and wake up at dawn to do my work before I prepare things for the kids.

I promised myself that I would buy a very comfortable pillow that will enhance my sleeping like DreamEssentials.com body pillow which can surely give me comfort in sleeping and ease my back pain as well. Mall Displays and Decors

I’ve passed by the nearest mall near my office and amazed at the decors and displays they have in the whole place. You can really feel that the holiday is coming with lots of booths with pop up displays, stores on discounted sales, plenty of deals and those sales staff in holiday costumes.

It’s actually a common site to me now as every day I get to see those but it still amaze me how they can put thousand of lights on the entrance. I’m thinking how much would they be paying for their electric bills after the holiday is over. Anyway they’re on sales business and it’s just one way of attracting the consumers to enter the mall and shop. It seems that the more displays and decors they have the more chances that people would shop in their stores.

Sports Option

We’ll be going again to our hometown province first week of next month and we’re all looking forward to that day. We will attend the wedding of my cousin’s son and have swimming afterwards. We’re planning to make the most of our travel there and to bond with our cousins there also. We love to be with them again since we’re always there only on few occasions now due to busy schedule. Mom is getting old and she’s missing her hometown, her nieces and nephews, grandchildren, relatives and lots of friends. Some of her friends passed away already and she wants to visit those who were still alive. I guess it’s really hard for someone to leave the town you’ve grown up and that’s what happened to my Mom. We relocated to our present residence now since I was 7 years old because my father lives and works at the same town.

Now that she’s at her prime years she loves reminiscing the past and loves to reunite with old colleagues and friends. Anyway I’m thinking what other sports we can play at the province aside from the usual games we played there. Upon looking at some pictures of my friends who loves shooting sports I learned that they’re playing Airsoft guns and they’re enjoying it. In fact many of the big boys are having fun with this sport they’ve discovered. Well I’m new with this one and learned through searching that it’s a plastic gun with round pellets which is slower in speed compared to real guns but a bit painful when hit. It’s a safe game because it can’t kill or cause bleeding injuries.

Well one can wear protective gears when playing airsoft guns like Airsoft AEG which is the most popular airsoft rifle to avoid being hit and to prevent painful feeling. Stores selling safety gears recommend full face shield like a mask, airsoft safety glasses for target shooting and thick outfits to reduce the pain when shot by the opponent. All in all this is a good and enjoyable sport especially for the big boys who want the fun of shooting without hurting anyone. Anyway this one need rechargeable batteries and charger so be sure to bring extra batteries so you will be able to enjoy a full day play with your friends. This is a sport that can be played indoors and outdoors so I guess this can be a good option to play in the province also.
