2023 Successful Hunt

Have our first hunter in to hunt the ore hunt. Ron is a good hunter with many big bucks on his wall of fame. Had 2 bucks chasing a doe and saw multiple scrapes. He is in one of our favorite places so hopefully he will have good action. We will hunt another day and then maybe let it air out and try another farm. He had smoked chops first nite and last nite roast. And tonite stuffed pork! He will at least eat good this week. Until tommorrow. Jeff

Operation Big Buck Hunt

Our pre rut hunters had a wet day. He is hunting hard. He saw a real big one this evening on edge of Milo field. Big body big rack. May go over 170. Here's hoping he gets him. Lots of scrape activity. Running 10 tacticams and it was fascinating to see how the Deer stayed bedded during the rain storm. As soon as it let up they were on the move. Jeff

2020 Season in Review

Well just like the rest of the year it was a tough one. Extremely warm temps really made bow and rifle a tough go. We had several nice deer harvested and Greg norton from Florida killed a nice one in the mid 160's. We had several 150's and on down. Looking forward to next year. We have a few opening bow and rifle. We will continue to work hard to keep us a first rate operation.

2019 Deer Season Review

Well another deer season in the books. Our biggest buck just scratched the 160 mark. Had some 150 action and quite a few in the 140's. Very warm weather thru out most of the year whick always make for some tough hunting conditions. We had over a 50 percent hit rate on archery bucks. That a great mark to hit. Had 11 out of 15 on the first split of rifle and 3 out of 6 on the second split of rifle. Good hunting. Next year's archery start nov.2 and we have a few availability during the rut. We worked hard in the off season feeders stands and scouting new leases and will continue our hard work to make sure our guest have a great time. Jeff

It was a cold and blustery day in glen elder on Waconda Lake. Cold front conditions but we came thru with some nice walleye and wipers.

Fishing will be beginning first of May for us. We should have a decent walleye run this year. May 5 to June 10 is a good time frame for the walleye run. White bass fishing should be terrific. Crappies are looking a little better. Best white bass months June and September.

Rain rain and more rain. Were 3 ft. Over flood but fishing remains good. Walleyes are going and quite a few limits being taken. 7 ft. Seems to be a good depth. White bass are really in good shape here and our nite boats will start going out june 15. We will be doing quite a bit of fishing the next few weeks catfish should start spawnng 1st of june on the causeway granite creek and bluffs. Jeff

It was quite a year for turkeys. We had a few bad storms and one had 4 inches of rain and featured 40 plus mph wind. Turkeys were messed up for the next 10 days. We hunted off our properties for a while and that did the trick.

We have been on the water today and yesterday. Jesse caught 49 white bass up to 2 pounds and 3 keeper walleyes. The lack of wind has really hurt the walleye fishing.

Fishing is kicking off here at Rader Lodge. The weather is finally letting up on us and Captain Jesse will be running the walleye boat Thursday, Friday, Saturday.

We are finding the walleyes are on drop-offs - look for them in 14 to 22 feet of water and using jig and crawlers. Whitebass are on the causeway spawning, so jigs have been effective. Some catfish and wipers are being caught.

Looks like some of the best fishing of the year is about to kick on. Nights are cooling down and the big wipers and whitebass are chasing shad into the weeds. Saw a giant school this evening and caught 10 fish just wife and I fishing but ended up with a limit of wipers.

The fishing is on like donkey Kong!!!!!! Record setting weekend at Rader Lodge for catfish. Jeff's boat limited on catfish before 11:00 am with 80 catfish. Leon came in with 60 catfish that outweighed Jeff's 80. 10 catfish over 10 pounds. Jesse cleaned up on cats as Matt did as well.

It's that time of year and wipers and white bass are hitting the top water. We Struggled yesterday with white bass surfacing and not hitting our lures. Our shad are unusually small for this time of year and the cold spring held back the shad spawn. We caught these fish during the last light of day. We will be chumming after the 4th of July.

Were getting pounded with cold bad weather right now and sent our fishermen home. Thursday looks better and we should see fishing improve each day as they were starting before this freeze up. Well it was a tough opener. About as bad as can be 22 degrees. With 40 to 50 mph winds and a solid ice covering. Needless to say not much of an opener. The West Virginia boys knocked down 2 turkeys.

Fishing season is upon us.. at this time the deep water crappie are going good. Should be very good cat fishing in the shallows now. Shad gizzards will be the number 1 bait. Well it has been a rough rifle season with the warmer temps. And full moon. But no problem for Mr. Weber here who downed this 169 inch brute Sunday morning. This guy dropped 15 feet from the stand.

Well bow season came to a screeching halt with the warm temps. Highs in the 70's really shut things down. I'm thinking with cold weather we will see a great rifle opener Wednesday. Were busy camouflaging in some ground blinds and corning things up. A great forecast highs in the 40's.

Rob Atchley harvested this nice 8 point early this morning. THE BUCKS ARE CHASING LIKE MAD and the other bucks in some serious lockdown. Mark Melotec of Bow Hunting World killed a nice 12 pointer this week too. We have a few more hunters in camp finishing up there week so I'm sure there will be arrows in the air the next couple days. Good hunting and wear your hunter safety gear.

Great start to the 2012 archery Kansas whitetail rut hunt! 6 deer arrowed last week 5 recovered. 3 deer were in the 140 to 155 class. We had to drag one 3/4 mile up a cold river to recover.

We have had quite a change on Lake Wakonda. 8 more feet of water! There is some good news in this as I think they are about done with the dam project and we will be able to hold the water at level pool. That means this is great for this years spawn.

Crappies on the beds!!!! Decent size and some friends were here this week and caught 40 per day. Walleye's are starting to show on the dam. Males mostly. I have heard reports of limits.

We had a terrific saturday and caught almost 60 nice catfish in the 3 to 5 pound range. Then got on the wipers in the evening and I have cut up hands to prove it.

Chumming operations have began and caught 60 nice cats the first day out with the Quigly group. 3 to 5 pound range. The size has been better this year so far.

Still crappies in the shallow. We really took a lot of crappies this week in shallow around 4 feet or less. Try the causeway bluffs,dam etc. Also deep crappies on structure 20 feet or so.

Well its on!!! Surfacing white bass in the evenings before dark heavy. Had a school of whites 300 yards long last nite. This should last for ten days. Also will be using the lights the next week or so.

Catching some big white bass in deep water on cut bait. Also huge schools of drum up to 4 pounds in 30 feet of water. Have some availability for August wipers, Sept. wipers and october stripers and walleye at Wilson Lake. Only 4 to a boat in October.

It was a cold weekend but the fishing held up well. My freind Andy and i caught 55 crappies in an hour and a half Friday evening. Saturday was cold and cloudy and with a north wind.
