day three of the little miss home sick and it rained all day. we all had a bit of cabin fever, thankfully jumping in the puddles helped all of us.

i made stewed rhubarb for pudding.
it tasted just like i remember from childhood. the mr said the same thing.
it reminded us both of our grandparents.

last month i was lucky enough to win a spot in darrah’s slice of life project e-course. it could not have come at a better time – after the first month of excitement with project 365, the everyday can start to feel a bit mundane and not very photo-worthy. but after just one week of the slice of life project course (we are up to week 3 now, but i took my time getting started…) i am feeling inspired and creative. i would say that my style of shooting is finding the beauty in the everyday, attempting to turn the ordinary into extraordinary and darrah’s style of shooting and the slice of life approach is much the same, as well as “seeing, noticing, and appreciating the nuances and details that make your life special.” the photo assignments have given me a creative push and i have been looking through the lens with a renewed eye the past week. and the project flickr pool, oh my, so much beautiful inspiration!
the focus of week one was our home, so a (photo-heavy!) post of home.

i spent the afternoon with my grandparents, it was so good to see them.
we took them for a walk down to the lake, the water was such a beautiful blue.
the little man took a big fall off his bike, but got right back up and told me how it happened, rather excitedly.
we found wild blackberries, the little miss is excited about going back to pick more.
left-overs for dinner and an early night.

the little miss curled up on the couch for most of the day. we watched ‘alvin and the chipmunks’ and then ‘up’ (her favourite). we painted our nails and she ate ice-cream. i hate seeing her so sick, but little things helped make the day a bit better.

the afternoon was spent sitting outside, spending time with family. lots of food and a lot of sunshine. and a long time spent running down the water slide.

most of the day was spent in the kitchen getting ready for a little one’s birthday party.
lolly cake, kristins cream cheese choc chip cookies and chocolate cupcakes.
thanks to another beautiful summer day, we had to wait until late evening to ice and decorate the cake. and even then, it was still too warm for the icing. (not complaining about this weather though!)
