I am finally in the home stretch of school. Just 10 more weeks and I will be done with Nursing School! I will just need to pass NCLEX and so far from my practice ATI test I should be able to pass so long as I sleep the night before the test. It is not recommended that you work all night and take the test. I have not done so hot on my test when I have done that.

These next 10 weeks will be me working 4-5 12 hour shifts plus going to class 2 days a week from 9-12. I will work 3 of my 12 hour shifts at my regular job and then the other 1-2 with my preceptor. Luckily all my 12 hour shifts are at night to keep a more consistent schedule for me. I hope this too brings about more sleep for me. We will see how it goes. I just know that I have made it this far I can get through 10 more weeks!

I don’t know who is most excited about me being done me, my mom, or my daughter. Kendra has my whole summer booked of things to do with her and Ephriam. My mom will be glad that I will be able to sleep and feel rest. I too will be glad of all those things not to mention my house will be clean and I will get to do some fun things just for me. I have gained about 20 lbs while in school and I am hoping to take that off too. While updating my resume, studying for NCLEX, taking NCLEX and such.

So here is to kicking the next 10 weeks in the booty!

So here I am blogging for today! Not sure how often that I will be able to do this but hoping more then what I have. I love to spill things out here, it helps me to sleep better at night, informs everyone else of what we are doing, and well is nice to have so that later we can look back on the fun and rough waters that we have had.

We are now preparing for the kids to go back to school. I know that the kids are excited and so is Chris but me…. well not so much. It is probably because this summer I didn’t get to spend half as much time with my kids as I have in summers past. My summer elective for nursing was more intense that I thought that it was going to and we have been busy doing one thing or another. The kids went to 2 VBS this year which was good for them. Ephriam has been back to the DDBP and has several other doctors appointments this fall. Kendra has been her normal ask a trillion question a day. We didn’t do some of the things that we had planned to but hey that is life.

Ephriam can’t wait to make it back to school I don’t know if it just because he misses his friends or he is bored at home but he is super excited about going back. Kendra is excited too as she is going to Kindergarten and will be going for a full day! We hope that she makes some nice friends at school and learns lots.

This fall I will be doing my OB and peds clincial rotation. I am excited because I won’t have to work as hard as I did last term. I have been working in OB for almost 7 years now and I think that the girls I work with would cut off my head if I didn’t do well.

Christopher is still looking for a job. It has almost been 15 months since he as worked. I think he is ready to go back to work no matter the job. He if not I do know for sure that he is ready for his kids to go back to school so that he can maybe miss them a bit. He has been great as a stay at home dad even if he doesn’t think so. I am glad that I didn’t have to do half of the work around the house that he has. He does have a job interview on Monday so we will see how that goes.

So that is a bit for now maybe a blog post tomorrow? We will see what my day holds.

How has your summer been?

By the time you read this I will have turned in my final exam at school and will see be seeing my parents’ beautiful faces. I have made it through what they call the hardest term and I am so excited! I get to have a little break for the summer by only taking 4 credit hours this summer. In the fall however when I return I will be back to taking 11. However I have heard that it isn’t as intense as this term. We will just see how that goes. So hopefully you will be hearing from me more since I just have work and a few school credit hours. Of course we might be too busy enjoying being a family too. Something I know that my kids have missed this term. I am determined to graduate June 22, 2012.

The funny thing is that this term has been more time consuming they anything. I am so glad to have added to my nursing skills set. I feel pretty confident what I have already learned and will continue to grow as a nurse I hope. I really feel like I am made for this and can apply it to a real patient. I can’t wait to see what is up next for me to learn.

This term at school has been full of life savers. You know people who have saved me through this term.

1st there is Christopher the dear love of my life. I know that being the primary house keeper, dishwasher, laundry folder, and kid care around. He has been the one to go the extra mile and do things that right now I just can’t do. I thank him taking Ephriam every week to speech therapy and getting up early to go to OT every other week. He also took Kendra to have her hair cut when she needed it and I wasn’t able to take her. He has LONG days with the kids when I have just not been here between school in work. He has also been the best encourager so that I can make it through school. He has encouraged me to keep going and telling me how great I am at school. He says thing like “if I would have studied half as hard as you are…” He has gotten through this terrible week of WAY less sleep then what a person needs. He has told me to keep going after my terrible test score on Tuesday that I can bring it back up.

2nd there are Ephriam and Kendra. You guys don’t know how much you are really sacrificing so that your mom can fulfill a long time dream. Even on the day when you don’t see me much you are always there to hug and smile for me. You brighten even the toughest of days with talks of cuddles and surprises. I know that when I am done you will be so proud of me.

3rd to my Mom and Dad. Even though you aren’t in the mist of the mess of what is my everyday life right now. You understand the sacrifice that I am making to better myself. You have been life long cheerleaders in my corner always encouraging me to live out my life long dreams. Mom I love the e-mails that tell me to keep with it. I need those somedays and I hope that in the end you are proud of how hard I have work to become a nurse.

4th to my in laws. You all rock. Thank you for family dinners and the encouragement to keep going. Thank you for being there to help out Chris with the kids when needed. All of you have mean a lot to me.

Lastly thanks to all my classmates in us working together to make it through this term. You all rock! Keep up your hard work and soon enough we will be RNs! Life for all of us is crazy right now but hang in there and come out on top.

Thank you so much to all of you who have been a part in making it through it. You ROCK!

Well I am almost finished with my first week of my second of seven terms. This term is suppose to be the hardest of all of them. So far I have read 13 chapters and did one chapter of Nursing Math. I did find out in the 6 chapters that I read for theory class that it was 2 weeks worth of reading instead of one. I have my first quiz next Thursday, well except the Math test I had to get a 90% to continue in the program. The good thing was that I got 100%. I think that I will do fine.

The tough part of this week has been that the kids are on Spring Break and I haven’t gotten to enjoy as much of them as I would have liked. We did go to the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum to see all the airplanes, spaceships, and missles. Ephriam could hardly stand himself to get to the door, he was pulling me with him. By the end of the day he was really pooped out. Kendra by the end needed a piggy back ride because she was getting so tired. I am hoping to post pictures soon but you know how that goes. I have to get them off the camera and such and with school right now I am not sure I will get to it as soon as I hope.

My husband has rocked at getting things done around the house. He has really been a great help. I hope that he continues to be as much help as he has. I know too it is killing him to not watch the next Episode of LOST either and he is trying to be patient in watching the next episode.

All of the rest of my family has been really supportive too of my schooling. I know it will be worth the lost of sleep in the long run.

Well it is time for me to work out so I can eat a nice filet tonight.

Today I am 30 and proud of it! (I also think the cake above looks fantastic.) To me today is just another birthday. I mean I don’t think that turning 30 is anything special. I DO like to celebrate my birthday because God protected me in my mother’s womb so that I could be here today but that is another story for a different day. I am excited to eat cake and ice cream today and am unsure of what sort of surprises that my family will have in store for me. I am sure that there will be good food to go around as well.

As I reflect on my last year in my 20′s I would say that it wasn’t all that great. I lost my grandmother, my husband lost his job, and more stress was added to life. However I have TONS to be thankful for. I have THE BEST family in the whole world, every. last. one. of. you. I count all of you as blessing, especially Christopher, Ephriam, and Kendra who are in the trenches with me everyday. I also have been able to starting nursing school and fulfill a life long dream. Next big dream to fulfill is a missions trip. I am on my way to a healthier me by eating right and exercising. Each day is a new beginning.

This year I want to be a happy year. I am longing for good things to come. Only time will tell.

So here we go to face the day in a whole new decade of my life!
