A Quasar (contraction of QUASi-stellAR radio source) is an extremely powerful and distant active galactic nucleus. Quasars were first identified as being high redshift sources of electromagnetic energy, including radio waves and visible light, that were point-like, similar to stars, rather than extended sources similar to galaxies.While there was initially some controversy over the nature of these objects — as recently as the 1980s, there was no clear consensus as to their nature — there is now a scientific consensus that a quasar is a compact region 10-10,000 Schwarzchild radii across surrounding the central supermassive black hole of a galaxy, powered by its accretion disc. Quasars show a very high redshift, which is an effect of the expansion of the universe between the quasar and the Earth. When combined with Hubble's Law, the implication of the redshift is that the quasars are very distant. The most luminous quasars radiate at a rate that can exceed the output of average galaxies, equivalent to one trillion (10¹²) suns. This radiation is emitted across the spectrum, almost equally, from X-rays to the far-infrared with a peak in the ultraviolet-optical bands, with some quasars also being strong sources of radio emission and of gamma-rays. In early optical images, quasars looked like single points of light, indistinguishable from stars, except for their peculiar spectra. With infrared telescopes and the Hubble Space Telescope, the "host galaxies" surrounding the quasars have been identified in some cases. These galaxies are normally too dim to be seen against the glare of the quasar, except with these special techniques. Most quasars cannot be seen with small telescopes, but 3C 273, with an average apparent magnitude of 12.9, is an exception. At a distance of 2.44 billion light-years, it is one of the most distant objects directly observable with amateur equipment. Quasars are believed to be powered by accretion of material into supermassive black holes in the nuclei of distant galaxies, making these luminous versions of the general class of objects known as active galaxies. Large central masses (10⁶ to 10⁹ Solar masses) have been measured in quasars using 'reverberation mapping'. Several dozen nearby large galaxies, with no sign of a quasar nucleus, have been shown to contain a similar central black hole in their nuclei, so it is thought that all large galaxies have one, but only a small fraction emit powerful radiation and so are seen as quasars. More than 100,000 quasars are known, most from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. All observed quasar spectra have redshifts between 0.06 and 6.4. Applying Hubble's Law to these redshifts, it can be shown that they are between 780 million and 28 billion light-years away. Because of the great distances to the furthest quasars and the finite velocity of light, we see them and their surrounding space as they existed in the very early universe. Quasars were much more common in the early universe. Quasars show where massive black holes are growing rapidly (via accretion). These black holes grow in step with the mass of stars in their host galaxy in a way not understood at present. One idea is that the jets, radiation and winds from quasars shut down the formation of new stars in the host galaxy, a process called 'feedback'. The jets that produce strong radio emission in some quasars at the centers of cluster of galaxies are known to have enough power to prevent the hot gas in these clusters from cooling and falling down onto the central galaxy. To create a luminosity of 10⁴⁰ W ,or Joules per second, (the typical brightness of a quasar), a super-massive black hole would have to consume the material equivalent of 10 stars per year. The brightest known quasars devour 1000 solar masses of material every year. The largest known is estimated to consume matter equivalent to 600 Earths per hour. Quasars 'turn on' and off depending on their surroundings, and since quasars cannot continue to feed at high rates for 10 billion years, after a quasar finishes accreting the surrounding gas and dust, it becomes an ordinary galaxy.

The Lord of the Rings Conquest is the upcoming video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by EA Games. It is based on The Lord of the Rings film Trilogy, and borrows many gameplay mechanics from Pandemic's Star Wars: Battlefront games. The game allows the player to play as both the forces of good and evil, but unlike The Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle-Earth , the latter option is based around Sauron stopping the One Ring from being destroyed and fighting back. This game is scheduled to be released on January 15, 2009. Competitive multiplayer modes include conquest, capture the ring, team deathmatch and hero deathmatch all of which are based from Star Wars: Battlefront 2 gametypes. In addition, a new mode, Ring Bearer will make a debut. One player plays as Frodo and the remaining players are Nazgûl. Frodo must stay alive and evade the Nazgûl as long as possible. The Nazgûl that kills Frodo becomes the new Frodo. Up to sixteen players can play online. Cooperative mode is available for up to 4 players split-screen or online on the Xbox 360 & PS3. Some unplayable units include grunt soldiers, which are the weakest units in the game, and captains, which are the strongest AI units in the game other than heroes. Any unit can ride a mount; mounts include horses and wargs. Wargs and horses are useful as they can quickly cover areas and can be sped up manually. Hits against mount result in the player being automatically dismounted. Melee and ranged devices can still be used while mounted. Mounts can trample enemies by riding into them. But still there's more to explore in the game, so be ready to face the challenge on the release date, and make your way to the victory.

Windows 7 (formerly codenamed Blackcomb and Vienna) is the next release of Microsoft Windows, an operating system produced by Micros for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, Tablet PCs, and Media Center PCs. Unlike its predecessor, Windows 7 is intended to be an incremental upgrade with the goal of being fully compatible with existing device drivers, applications, and hardware. Presentations given by the company in 2008 have focused on multi-touch support, a redesigned Windows Shell with a new taskbar, a home networking system called HomeGroup, and performance improvements. Some applications that have been included with prior releases of Microsoft Windows, most notably Windows Mail, Windows Calendar, Windows Movie Maker, and Windows Photo Gallery, are no longer included with the operating system, they are instead offered separately as part of the Windows Live Essentials suite. Windows 7 includes a number of new features, such as advances in touch, speech, and handwriting recognition, support for virtual hard disks, improved performance on multi-core processors, improved boot performance, and kernel improvements. Screenshots have appeared demonstrating a new feature called 'Peek'. Peek is a quick way of making all visible windows transparent for a quick look at the desktop. Many programs such as MS Paint and Wordpad will have the ribbon interface and brand new features too. There's more to come in this version of Microsoft Windows, and its going to be released in late 2009.

The year 2009 is packed with entertainment, as we will see the next version of F.E.A.R. on February 10, 2009. The Game is titled as F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin, and as the name tells, its going to be as great as the original F.E.A.R. The Game developed by Monolith Productions and published by Warner Bros. for PC, Xbox 360, and Playstation 3 is scheduled to be shipped on February 10, 2009 for United States and Europe on February 13, 2009. This sequel to F.E.A.R. continues the supernatural suspense story of a powerful psychic child named Alma, whose rage against those who wronged her caused her to begin an escalating paranormal crisis that threatens to devour and replace reality with her own. At some point in the game, the player character, via surgery, will receive reflex powers exhibiting the same slow-motion ability like the Point Man. Failsafe is an entirely new mode for the sequel in which one team has to plant a bomb at one of two nerve-gas locations. If the opposing team manages to plant a bomb, then the other team can defuse it, but it takes only one successful explosion to win the round. The other big new feature is the custom loadouts, which let you have preset combinations of weapons and armour at the beginning of each round. There are three presets that can be tinkered with, changing everything from your primary and secondary weapons to your grenades and armour types. This version of F.E.A.R. is surely going to put the whole world into a thrilling experience which it never had before. F.E.A.R 2 : Project Origin will be worth the waiting.

Need for Speed: Undercover is the twelfth version of the all time popular racing video game series Need for Speed, which is developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts. It is made for release on the PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii, PC, PlayStation Portable, iPod Touch, iPhone, N-Gage 2.0 and mobile phone on 18 November 2008 in USA and 21 November 2008 in the European Countries.Undercover will feature a new "open-world" map consisting of over a hundred miles of road and a large highway system, this is also the first game in the whole Need for Speed Series to provide an open space of over 100 miles to the players.. The map is of a fictional city based on the American West Coast cities. The city is called Tri-City, and consists of four boroughs called Palm Harbor, Port Cresent, Gold Coast Mountains, and Sunset Hills. A map of the Tri-City area, the setting for Need for Speed Undercover. The game's story mode sets the player in the story as a police officer going undercover into the criminal underground of Tri-City, a fictional city where the game is plotted. Players will take on dangerous jobs and compete in races in order to infiltrate and take down a ruthless international crime smuggling syndicate of street racers and car thieves. The player's can contact to the police is federal handler Chase Linh, played by Maggie Q only. EA has confirmed that there will be a new online mode by the name "Cops and Robbers" where eight players are split into two teams of four. Each team will take it in turns to be both cops and robbers. There will also be regular racing online modes from previous NFS games such as sprint, circuit and point to point along with the brand new Highway Battle mode. It has been predicted that 21 December 2012 will be the last day of all living organisms on the earth. The Mayan Calendar says that at this day, the earth will complete 5000 Years and it will become the last day for humans on earth and a new earth will be formed. Scientists say that a Pole Reversal will take place which will results in the interchange of the earth's pole, i.e, South Pole will become North Pole and Vice-Versa. It has also been predicted that the Sun Spots would become a cause for burning up the whole earth, Violent Earthquakes and Volcanic Eruptions would take place, thus removing all life forms from the earth. It has become a matter of great concern, because if this prediction becomes true then there's only a little time left for the humans as well as all other living organisms in this world. Many people are believing in this matter as The Bible also speaks about this event. Now its upto the Humans, whether they prepare for the event or just take it casually.

Durga Pujo: Day 5

The enjoyment comes to an end with the arrival of "Doshomi" meaning the 10th Day. This is the final day of the Pujo, when the goddess departs and everyone hopes that she will return after a year. Every year this Pujo takes place but at different days. A procession is formed for taking the goddess figurines to the river, and everyone waves goodbye to the goddess and the other gods and goddess too. Next Year, the enjoyment will continue as the Durga Pujo will be held next year too. See you Next Year too, other posts will also be made this year too.

Time is passing by with the enjoyment, as the end of the Durga Pujo is drawing nearer. Today is "Novomi" which in Bengali means the 9th Day. After a massive crowd in all Pujo Spots, the end comes nearer. Last Night, there was a heavy crowd in every region, some spots had restricted the movement of vehicles in their area for due to the numerous number of people moving in that area. When I reached a Pujo Spot, I had to stand in a line for about 10 minutes to see the goddess. Today is the last day of enjoyment, as tomorrow the Pujo will come to an end and situations would be normal again. A picture of the goddess in a certain Pujo Spot can be seen in this post, given to illustrate the topic.

The excitement is getting better and better as the Number of People Visiting the Pujo Spots increases. Last night a Spot experienced over 18000 People after 12 AM Midnight. Different food stalls are becoming empty only after 7 PM in the Evening, which indicates the tremendous number of people moving in the area. The streets of Serampore were lit up with different lights and Pujo Spots at minimum intervals. The Holy Home School Serampore organizes a Pujo in the memory of Principal Late Swaraj Mukhopadhay. The goddess figurine was made beautiful which can be illustrated thorough the screenshot provided. More and more excitements are awaiting for all the people as to the arrival of "Osthomi" i.e, Today, meaning the eighth day of the Pujo. Catch Up With the Excitement!

The enjoyment for the festival is just getting better here. A Nearby place has just attained its Golden Jubilee i.e, 50 Years of Success in holding the Pujo. The people are celebrating with rejoice and the area has lit up with flashing lights everywhere. The spot is nicely designed and goddess is greatly made by the local architect. Today is the 7th Day of the Pujo, which is known as "Saptami" in the Bengali Language. Every town in Kolkata is busy celebrating the Durga Pujo, no matter how small the town is. A picture of the Goddess Durga is given at the right which is at Halisahar, a town in Kolkata. More pictures and videos are coming soon.

Durga Pujo , the biggest festival of the Bengalis in Kolkata and around the World, is starting from today. Durga Pujo is celebrated by the Bengalis as a National Festival, everyone gather to visit the Pujo Spots and to see the Gods. People wear new clothes to celebrate the festival in a great way. This is known as Shosthi in the Bengali Language meaning the 6th Day. As this is a National and a Big Festival, people as well as the students stops their regular works to enjoy this festival in a Grand Way. They resume their work after the Pujo i.e, after Dashami( 10th Day). Large Number of God Figures are exported from Kolkata to the rest of the world where the Bengalis reside, so that they can enjoy their Pujo too. Far Cry, released in 2004 by CryTek was one of the most popular tropical island shooter game in the history, but Far Cry 2 is coming to hit the markets again. The Question arises that, Will it be released by CryTek or not? The answer is a NO! This time Far Cry 2 will be released by Ubisoft and is developed by Ubisoft Montreal, the driving force behind hit games like Assasin's Creed, Lost: Via Domus and Rainbow Six: Vegas. Far Cry 2 is lot more different from Far Cry, Jack Carver will not be featured in here as Far Cry whereas players will have to choose from a total eight characters to play in the game. The Far Cry 2 is based mainly on the landscapes of Africa, where there would be 50 Square KM area for users to explore. Far Cry 2 also has a unique type weather system in the game - Sunny skies when the player does well in his objectives and dark and stormy skies if he fails too much in his mission. Teacher's Day Celebration

5th September is a very special day for all the students and teachers because this is known as The Teacher's Day which probably one of the best days in the year. It is the day when students get their opportunity to show their skill and performance to the teachers. In the schools this day is celebrated by the students by their performance in different fields like Dance, Song, Drama, Play, etc. In Holy Home, this is one of the best celebration of the year. The recent Teacher's Fay celebration is held at The Kamala Hall, Serampore where all the students and teachers gather to celebrate for one day. The Concert in Holy Home consists of many shows like different regional and western dances, national songs, play and famous dramas, all performed by the students themselves, which is also hosted by the students. Holy Home holds many occasional events where The Teacher's Day Celebration is probably the best celebration held. This year there are about 18 different performances to be performed in the Hall for the teachers. Three of my friends namely, Faizan Ali, Sayan Majumdar and Deepak Pandey is putting up a great show to thrill the teachers and students together. This day is celebrated every year in Holy Home and will be continued every year in the future as the celebration would get better.

New Ubuntu 8.10(Intrepid Ibex) coming this year?

Yes, this is true, after a splendid release of the Ubuntu 8.04(Hardy Heron) Canonical is about to launch another version of the revolutionary Linux Distribution, Ubuntu. This version will be named as Intrepid Ibex and will be the ninth release of Ubuntu from Canonical.Ubuntu 8.10 has several planned new features including a new default theme, improvements to mobile computing and desktop scalability, increased flexibility for Internet connectivity, OpenGL face browser for GDM, a GUI driven Live USB creator and an encrypted 'private' directory in each user's home directory. This version will be supported upto April 2010 from its release on 30th October 2008. Users will get a new interface to work in Ubuntu with this version. While Ubuntu 8.04 has a Long Term Support, this release will have a 2 Year support.
