Even though the Braves escaped Florida with a series win, they didn’t escape unharmed. Chipper Jones pulled a hammy running out a ground ball, and arguably our staff ace had to leave during a game that he was dealing - with a tight pitching elbow. Hopefully both ‘injuries’ aren’t bad enough to warrant time on the Disabled List.

Here’s what Chipper had to say about his hammy.

“It’s sore right now,” he said. “Hopefully it feels a lot better and I’ll be able to get in there in a couple of days. As of right now it doesn’t look good.”

Lets hope with the day off, it gets a bit better - but he still might not start the series in Philly. Hudson will be re-evaluated today or tomorrow. There’s also a rumor floating around that Mike Hampton He Who Shall Not Be Named might be making a start (Saturday) in place of Jo-Jo Reyes.

Nolasco is 1-3 with a 5+ ERA in 29 innings against the Braves in his career. The Braves faced Nolasco twice in 2007, and tagged him with the loss twice.

Game Time: 7:10 est (4:10p pst) TV: FSN, MLB.tv Radio: WGST, XM Channel 186, 174 (Spanish)

What To Watch: Hopefully we’ll see more hits this evening, after making Rick VandenHurk look like a Cy Young contender last night. This needs to be a win to salvage the series and head into Philly with a bit of momentum - though they’re getting some of there own after cuffing around the Mets last night with 6 runs in the final inning to win the game.

Also Bobby Cox returns to the Braves bench after serving a one game suspension.

Hey Bob, how about the Guccione acted? The fact he has one of the shortest fuses in the league? Honestly, MLB and The Enforcer really need to look back at that game. It was Guccione who was out of line - there was no need for what he did to Buddy Carlyle. Bobby was protecting his player - oh and in cause you were wondering Bob - not a single member of that Umpire Crew came to the defense of Guccione. Shouldn’t that tell you something? Like maybe, just maybe they’re finished with his show boating too?

RD’s Take: Charlie Morton at times has shown flashes of whats to come, other times he’s looked like a right handed Jo-Jo Reyes - I’m wondering which one will show up tonight. The Fishes VandenHurk was just recently recalled from Double A, where he was posting very pedestrian numbers. This will be his third start of the season for the Marlins. He’s also spent time on the Minor League Disabled list with Ulnar Nerve problems - he was the Fishes #2 starter out of Spring.

Game Time: 7:10 est (4:10p pst) TV: Sports South, MLB.tv Radio: WGST, XM Channel 186

What To Watch: Even though he was cleared to play, Yunel Escobar was held out of the line up again. I’m not sure what’s going on, but they either need to play him or DL him. Because with him out, they’re riding a man short on the bench. Also pay close attention to what the Braves do with two outs, and runners in scoring position (btw it’s not pretty) .227/.348/.333 with a OPS+ of 83.

RD’s Take: Ah, a battle of over/under achievers. Just look at the Fish’s run differential -25, just look at their Pythag record, according to that they should have a loosing record. But for some reason they keep performing over their collective heads, though they should be falling to earth soon. You can’t maintain a Team ERA+ of 89 and expect to keep winning - unless your offense is outscoring their opponents, which they’re not.

RD’s Take: Campillo has been one of the brighter spots in the Braves rotation this year, after starting the season in Triple A only to find himself first in the Braves ‘pen and then in the rotation due to injuries. He uses smoke and mirrors to get by. What makes me nervous is that he’s a extreme fly ball pitcher (41.4%) and that might not react well to Florida.

Volstad on the other hand is just getting his second start of the year, so those numbers really don’t mean much because of the extremely small sample size. He’s a ground baller (56.7%), offers a fastball, curve and change up. He looks to throw the fast ball often compared to his off speed stuff (64.8% FB’s), so if the Braves lineup can lock into that - they should be good to go.

Game Time: 7:10 est (4:10p pst) TV: Sports South, MLB.tv Radio: WGST, XM Channel 187

What To Watch: If the Nationals series wasn’t telling enough, get ready for the next two series. Both GM Frank Wren and Bobby Cox went on record over the weekend saying that the Braves intend to be buyers at the deadline. But with this weekends showing against the worst team in the league - maybe they’re rethinking that stance. Look for Yunel Escobar to return to the lineup tonight, as he’s been cleared by team doctors. He’s hitting to the tune of .342/.432/1.037 with an OPS+ 172 against Marlins pitching.
