As you know each year prior to the any episodes airing we ask the knowledgeable SpoilerTV Community to try an predict which shows will be Renewed and which ones Cancelled.

Last year we had an 80% success rate that you can see here in this table.

With FOX yesterday announcing their schedule (See here) it's time again to see if you can predict which shows will be renewed/cancelled.

There are 2 Polls below. One for Renewals and one for Cancellations. In each poll select the show(s) that you think will either be renewed/cancelled and then press vote.

Before the season starts we will collate all the predictions and post the table that we'll update during the 2013/14 season to see how your predictions went.

New York (Monday, May 13, 2013) - Kevin Reilly, Chairman, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, today unveiled the FOX primetime slate for the 2013-2014 television season to the national advertising community during its annual Programming Presentation at the Beacon Theatre.

"This season, we will strategically launch five inventive live-action comedies, four distinctive dramas, our first-ever event series, as well as some innovative new digital initiatives, across the week and throughout the year," said Reilly. "We're making the biggest investment in original programming in our history to ensure that FOX continues to engage viewers and move the culture more than any other entertainment brand."

DADS and BROOKLYN NINE-NINE are the two new comedies joining the Tuesday night comedy block this fall. DADS, the new live-action, multi-camera comedy from Emmy Award winner Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild ("Ted," FAMILY GUY), stars Emmy Award winner Seth Green (FAMILY GUY) and Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi ("My Name is Earl," "Ted," "Avatar") as two successful gaming entrepreneurs - and childhood best friends - whose lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs (Martin Mull, "Two and a Half Men" and Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Peter Riegert, "The Good Wife," "The Sopranos") move in.

From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur ("Parks and Recreation") and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") and Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age," "Homicide: Life on the Street"), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera workplace comedy about what happens when a hotshot detective (Samberg) gets a new Captain (Braugher) with a lot to prove.

New Army-set sibling comedy ENLISTED premieres in the fall. Written and created by Kevin Biegel ("Cougar Town," "Scrubs") and starring Geoff Stults ("Ben and Kate," "The Finder"), Chris Lowell ("Private Practice," "Veronica Mars") and Parker Young ("Suburgatory"), ENLISTED is an irreverent and heartfelt single-camera comedy about an older sibling who returns home to reconnect with his two brothers and lead a group of misfits on a small Florida Army base.

This fall, two new dramas also join the schedule. From co-creators/executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the "Star Trek" and "Transformers" franchises, "Fringe") comes the adventure thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW. In this modern-day retelling of Washington Irving's classic, ICHABOD CRANE (Tom Mison, "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen") is resurrected and pulled two and a half centuries through time to find that the world is on the brink of destruction and that he is humanity's last hope, forcing him to team up with a contemporary police officer (Nicole Beharie, "Shame," "American Violet") to unravel a mystery that dates back to the founding fathers.

Executive-produced by Emmy Award winner J.J. Abrams ("Fringe," "Lost," the "Star Trek" and "Mission: Impossible" franchises) and creator J.H. Wyman ("Fringe," "The Mexican") and starring Karl Urban ("Star Trek"), Michael Ealy ("Sleeper Cell," "Common Law") and Emmy Award nominee Lili Taylor ("Six Feet Under,"), ALMOST HUMAN is a high-tech, high-stakes action drama set 35 years in the future, when police officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. An unlikely partnership is forged when a part-machine cop (Urban) is forced to pair with a part-human robot (Ealy) as they fight crime and investigate a deeper cover-up in a futuristic new world.

The new unscripted series set to debut in the fall is JUNIOR MASTERCHEF (working title). The new culinary competition series for talented kids gives budding cooks between the ages of eight and 13 the opportunity to showcase their talent, culinary smarts and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges and cook-offs. Award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, restaurateur and winemaker Joe Bastianich (Del Posto, Eataly) and acclaimed chef Graham Elliot (Graham Elliot, Graham Elliot Bistro) coach and encourage the promising hopefuls to cook like pros and teach them the tricks of the trade along the way.

New dramas RAKE and GANG RELATED are slated for midseason. Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear ("Little Miss Sunshine," "The Kennedys") makes his broadcast television series debut in the bold new legal drama RAKE, created by Peter Duncan (ABC1 Australia's "Rake") and executive-produced by Peter Tolan ("Rescue Me," "Analyze This") and Michael Wimer ("2012"). Kinnear is KEEGAN DEANE, one of life's great addicts, a brilliant and frustratingly charming criminal defense attorney, whose chaotic and self-destructive personal life often gets in the way of his professional one. Keegan takes on the cases that nobody else will touch, ruled by a resolute optimism, belief in justice and dogged determination to defend those who seem beyond redemption - much like himself.

Gritty new fast-paced drama GANG RELATED follows RYAN LOPEZ (Ramon Rodriguez, "Battle Los Angeles," "The Wire"), a rising star in Los Angeles' elite Gang Task Force - led by SAM CHAPEL (Emmy Award winner Terry O'Quinn, "Lost") - who teams up with longtime Task Force member CASSIUS GREEN (RZA, "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," "Californication") to take on the city's most dangerous gangs, including one he has an allegiance to. Three new comedies - SURVIVING JACK, US & THEM and MURDER POLICE - are set to debut in midseason. From Emmy Award nominee Bill Lawrence ("Spin City," "Scrubs," "Cougar Town"), new single-camera family comedy SURVIVING JACK is based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's autobiographical book, "I Suck at Girls." Set in 1990s Southern California, Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni ("True Blood," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit") stars as a man becoming a dad, as his son (Connor Buckley, "Deception") becomes a man, in a time before "coming of age" was something you could Google.

Based on an award-winning BBC series and starring Emmy Award nominee Jason Ritter ("Parenthood") and Alexis Bledel ("Mad Men," "Gilmore Girls"), US & THEM is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about a young couple, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them.

New animated comedy MURDER POLICE expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. Executive-produced by David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and created by rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series features the voices of Will Sasso ("The Three Stooges," "MADtv"), Chi McBride ("Golden Boy") and Jane Lynch (GLEE), and follows a dedicated, but inept detective (Ruiz) and his colleagues in a twisted city precinct.

New event series WAYWARD PINES will premiere in 2014. Based on the best-selling novel, "Pines," by Blake Crouch, and brought to life by suspenseful storyteller M. Night Shyamalan ("The Sixth Sense," "Signs,"), WAYWARD PINES is an intense, mind-bending thriller in which nothing is what it seems. Secret Service agent ETHAN BURKE (Academy Award nominee Matt Dillon, "Crash," "City of Ghosts") arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan's investigation only turns up more questions. Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive.

It was also announced that NEW GIRL - the Emmy-nominated Tuesday night comedy starring Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone - and one of our new FOX comedies will air following SUPER BOWL XLVIII Sunday, February 2, 2014 on FOX.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE

Detective JAKE PERALTA (Samberg) is a good enough cop that he's never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he's been enabled - if not indulged - throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain RAY HOLT (Braugher), who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge. Jake may have collared more criminals, but Detective AMY SANTIAGO (Melissa Fumero, "One Life to Live," "Gossip Girl") is close behind, and she's keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Amy grew up with seven brothers who were all cops. She's the first girl in the family to put on a police uniform, and suffice it to say: she's extremely competitive... about everything. Also working cases in Brooklyn's 99th precinct is Sergeant TERRY JEFFORDS (Terry Crews, "Bridesmaids," "Everybody Hates Chris"), a linebacker of a man who's lost his nerve, not because he's a wimp, but because a year ago, his wife had twin baby girls - Cagney and Lacey - and he can't imagine not seeing them grow up. Detective CHARLES BOYLE (Joe Lo Truglio, "Wreck-It Ralph," "Superbad"), who idolizes Jake, is the precinct's workhorse; he's not that brilliant, he's not physically gifted, but he tries harder than anyone else. Honor thy father. Way easier said than done. Especially when your dad's broke, living in your house and ruining your life. From Seth MacFarlane, Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild, the creatively outrageous minds behind last year's highest-grossing feature comedy, "Ted," and FOX's hit animated series FAMILY GUY, DADS explores the often treacherous terrain of the father-son landscape. This new multi-camera comedy series follows two successful guys - and childhood best friends - now in their mid-30s whose relatively stable lives get turned upside down when their pain-in-the-neck patriarchs move in. ELI (Emmy Award winner Seth Green, FAMILY GUY, "Robot Chicken") and WARNER (Emmy Award nominee Giovanni Ribisi, "My Name is Earl," "Ted," "Avatar") are the co-founders of a successful video game company. Warner is married with two kids, two dogs and a beautiful home. Despite his success, he's a bundle of nerves, constantly worrying that his next paycheck will be his last. He and Eli came up with the idea for the company while stoned in college, and Eli has remained stoned ever since. In contrast to Warner's picture-perfect life, Eli's is a bit messier, with brief stabs at self-improvement. What he lacks in courage, he also lacks in moral fiber. Although Warner and Eli are at very different places in their lives, they are so close, their friendship is more like a marriage. And that relationship is more complicated now, as their dads invade their lives. Warner's neuroses likely stem from having grown up in a family whose fortunes fluctuated wildly from year to year, due to the failed get-rich-quick schemes of his father, CRAWFORD (Martin Mull, "Two and a Half Men," "'Til Death"). A self-described "businessman" (in wine-stained khakis) and a perpetual optimist, Crawford still firmly believes the next big opportunity is just around the corner. Now living with Warner and Warner's beautiful, hotheaded wife, CAMILA (Vanessa Lachey, "Wipeout," "True Beauty"), Crawford continues to spend beyond his means, making well-intentioned grand gestures that he can't afford and that Warner ends up paying for. Eli's dad, DAVID (Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Peter Riegert, "The Good Wife," "The Sopranos"), is a towering monument to negativity. Equal parts cheap and cranky, David relishes disappointment and has always prepared his son for it, who in turn rebels by spending excessive amounts of money. After hitting hard times, David turns to Eli, who blames his dad for his own shortcomings, including his inability to settle down. In fact, his longest relationship with a woman remains the one with his cleaning lady, EDNA (Tonita Castro, "Go On," "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World"). Three brothers, one Army, but absolutely no fighting! ENLISTED is an irreverent but heartfelt single-camera comedy about three brothers on a small Florida Army base and the group of misfits who surround them. Charming, funny and a natural-born leader, Sergeant PETE HILL (Geoff Stults, "Ben and Kate," "The Finder") was on a path for a huge military career until one mistake overseas got him booted stateside to Fort McGee, the base in Florida where his two younger brothers are stationed. Now, as head of their platoon, Pete must serve both as big brother and military boss. Corporal DERRICK HILL (Chris Lowell, "Private Practice," "Veronica Mars") is the middle brother - smart and sarcastic, he likes to stir up trouble and doesn't really care about being a soldier. Private RANDY HILL (Parker Young, "Suburgatory"), on the other hand, loves it. He's the hyper-enthusiastic, hyper-goofy - just hyper - youngest brother who wants to be the gung-ho "GI Joe" military ideal. The Hill brothers serve on the Rear Detachment (Rear D) unit, comprised of the soldiers left behind when everyone else is deployed, because they're not quite good enough to be sent overseas, yet not bad enough to be kicked out of the Army. These are the men and women who mow lawns at the base, sort mail, wash tanks, find lost dogs and maybe engage in a war game or two. But the Rear D's main job is taking care of deployed soldiers' families. Whatever they need, the Rear D soldiers do. And, in the event that something happens to a soldier overseas, the Rear D troops break the news to the family and become a supportive shoulder to cry on. It's a job that shifts each moment from the thrilling to the mundane to the emotional and back again. Fort McGee is run by Command Sergeant Major DONALD CODY (Emmy Award winner Keith David, "Cloud Atlas," "The Cape"), a firm but fair man who served with the brothers' late father. Major Cody promised to look out for them, so he brought all the brothers to the base to fulfill that promise. Cody has seen it all and lost a foot to prove it - which no one can forget, probably since he never misses an opportunity to bring it up. Confident, funny, tough and beautiful, Sergeant JILL PEREZ (Angelique Cabral, "Friends with Benefits") is the same rank as Pete and leads the other Rear D platoon on base. A military-set family comedy, ENLISTED centers on three brothers who, when the best of the best are sent overseas, stay behind to try to keep the base in order. Between hijacking tanks, inventing new drinking games and accidentally blowing up a fuel truck, they will inadvertently discover the key to strengthening their long-lost childhood bonds. JUNIOR MASTERCHEF (working title) is a new culinary competition series for talented kids between the ages of eight and 13 who love to cook. Based on the hugely successful U.K. and Australian format, the series extends the MASTERCHEF brand in the U.S. to include a younger group of aspiring masterchefs. JUNIOR MASTERCHEF (wt) will give budding cooks the exciting opportunity to showcase their talent, culinary smarts and passion for food through a series of delicious challenges and cook-offs. RAKE, a character-driven drama based on the Australian nominee for Best Television Drama series of the same name, follows the comedic and chaotic life of criminal defense lawyer KEEGAN DEANE (Academy Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Greg Kinnear, "Little Miss Sunshine," "The Kennedys"). On a single day, Keegan Deane is described as many things. MURDER POLICE is a new animated comedy series that expands the boundaries of the cop show genre as only animation can. From David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY) and rising writer/animator/performer Jason Ruiz, the series follows a dedicated, but inept detective and his colleagues - some perverted, some corrupt, some just plain lazy - in a twisted city precinct. At the center of this maelstrom is MANUEL SANCHEZ (Ruiz), a neurotic and nerdy cop who aspires to be a good policeman, but his efforts to solve crimes are constantly put in jeopardy by his own clumsiness and the incompetence of his fellow detectives. Making matters worse, his egotistical, bribe-accepting partner, TOMMY MARGARETTI (Will Sasso, "The Three Stooges," "MADtv"), a tough, rule-breaking "bad cop," can't interrogate a suspect without beating him up. The other detectives in the precinct include RANDALL HICKOX (Chi McBride, "Golden Boy"), a cop with little interest in police work. He's lost a lot of partners, hates his job and often hands off his resume to crime scene witnesses. But they remain bonded in the upbringing of their son, MARIO (Ruiz), a troubled teen who is less impressed with his father than he is by the criminals he catches. These cops often find themselves mildly interested in the most recent crime victim, but completely obsessed with who "destroyed" the bathroom. SURVIVING JACK

Father knows best... well, sort of. SURVIVING JACK is a new single-camera comedy based on best-selling author Justin Halpern's autobiographical book, "I Suck at Girls." Set in 1990s Southern California, the ensemble series is about a man becoming a dad, as his son is becoming a man, in a time before "coming of age" was something you could Google.JACK DUNLEVY (Emmy Award nominee Christopher Meloni, "True Blood," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"), ex-military and an oncologist, is a no-bull kind of guy. He sees little, if any, need to sugar-coat the truth. Up to this point, Jack's been the parent who's left for work early, come home late, eaten the big piece of chicken, yelled at his kids and gone to bed. But after years of deftly raising and running the family, his wife, JOANNE, is going back to law school, leaving Jack as a full-time parent for the very first time. Jack's teenage son, FRANKIE (Connor Buckley, "Deception"), is just starting his freshman year in high school. Lanky, quick-witted, self-deprecating and not entirely sure of himself, all Frankie wants to do is fly under the radar. But over the summer, he grew 10 inches, threw a no-hitter against a rival team and started to attract girls - all of which put him in some awkward situations - especially when the only base he's ever been to is on the field. Fortunately, no matter how embarrassing the situations Frankie gets himself into are, Jack is there to pick up the pieces and lead his son to manhood... with the least gentle hand possible. When two people finally come together, they never come together alone. US & THEM is an outrageous but authentic ensemble single-camera comedy about a pair of young lovers, whose path to happily-ever-after is complicated by the screwed-up circus of people closest to them. -Ratings Breakdown:
ABC and Fox tied for first in the overnights on this atypical Thursday (translation: basketball), but sliding “American Idol” resulted in a year-to-year nightly loss of 36 percent. The live “Idol” Results Show won the 8 p.m. hour, with a 7.8 rating/14 share (and dominance is always positive, no doubt). But compared to the 10.8/17 on the year-ago evening, this was down by 28 percent. Keep in mind that “American Idol” did not face “The Big Bang Theory” on CBS last night.

Two episodes of worthy lead-out “Raising Hope,” including the season finale, followed with a 3.3/ 5 at 9 p.m. and a 2.5/ 4 at 9:30 p.m., which finished fourth in both half-hours. If quality were the benchmark, “Raising Hope” would be firmly entrenched as a “winner.” The two episodes last night were classic. But only 41 percent retention for the 9 p.m. edition out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of “American Idol” (8.1/14) is just not positive for the already renewed sitcom.

Over at ABC, recent returnee “Wife Swap” did not impress with a distant third-place 3.2/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m. Comparably, that was 44 percent below older-skewing year-ago occupant “Missing” (5.7/ 9 on 3/29/12).

Next on the alphabet net was veteran “Grey’s Anatomy,” which perked up to a first-place 6.8/11 from 9-10 p.m., followed by compatible sophomore “Scandal” at an also dominant 6.0/10 at 10 p.m.

The ongoing 2013 NCAA Basketball Tournament placed CBS in the overall No. 3 position for the night, with an estimated 4.6/ 8 in the overnights from 8-11 p.m. Remember, results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

Elsewhere, “The Vampire Diaries” remains an option for The CW, with a consistent 2.0/ 3 in the overnights at 8 p.m. (#5). But lead-out “Beauty and the Beast,” which is not compatible demographically, slipped to a 1.3/ 2 at 9 p.m. – down by 35 percent. And that was only equal to failed year-ago occupant “The Secret Circle.”

In season (or series) finale news, freshman NBC comedy “1600 Penn” exited with a mere 1.6/ 3 (#4) at 9:30 p.m. (out of a 1.5/ 3 for an encore of soon-to-conclude “The Office” at 9 p.m.). Earlier in the evening was a repeat of “Community,” which needs to finally end, at a 1.7/ 3 at 8 p.m. (#4), followed by another episode of “1600 Penn” at a 1.5/ 3 at 8:30 p.m. Needless to say, NBC must revamp its Thursday sitcom block next season. Enough with these limited appeal single camera comedies.

At 10 p.m., an encore of “Law & Order: SVU” closed the night for NBC with a distant third-place 2.8/ 5.

Since basketball on CBS bled into late night, the overnight results in the daypart are excluded today.

FOX ORDERS A SECOND SEASON OF HIT DRAMA “THE FOLLOWING”

It was an easy Tuesday overnight victory for CBS, which actually beat ABC, NBC and Fox combined. “NCIS,” as always, was the top-rated show of the evening with a 12.8 rating/20 share (+ 9 percent from the year-ago evening). And it led into spin-off “NCIS: Los Angeles” at a compatible (and very dominant) 10.5/16 at 9 p.m. Will CBS break up the two next season to potentially make room for the “NCIS: Los Angeles” spin-off at 9 p.m.? Stay tuned.

In series-premiere news, new CBS crime solver “Golden Boy” won the 10 p.m. hour with a 6.9/12, which outdelivered No. 2 “Body of Proof” on ABC (4.7/ 8) by 47 percent. And it was on par with year-ago time period occupant “Unforgettable.” But “Golden Boy” opened 27 percent below the debut of regularly scheduled “Vegas” (9.4/16 on 9/25/12). It slipped by 12 percent in household rating in the second half-hour (7.4/12 to 6.5/12). And retention for “Golden Boy” out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of “NCIS: Los Angeles” (10.3/16) was modest at 67 percent. All things considered, this is a disappointing debut for not so “Golden Boy.”

“Golden Boy” will have one more preview in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour next week, and it moves into its regularly scheduled Friday 9 p.m. hour (out of “Undercover Boss” and into “Blue Bloods”) on March 8. Is it just me, or are all these generic CBS crime solvers beginning to wear thin?

In season-premiere news, “Celebrity Wife Swap” on ABC, featuring Kate Gosselin and Kendra Wilkinson trading households for one week, opened second in the 8 p.m. hour with a respectable 5.3/ 8. Comparably, this beat the year-ago combination of “Last Man Standing” (4.6/ 7 on 2/28/12) and “Cougar Town” (3.1/ 5) by an average of 38 percent. And it was up by 39 percent from “The Taste” in the week-ago time period (3.8/ 6 on Feb. 19).

Next was sluggish “The Taste,” which now airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET, at a 3.1/ 5 (#2), followed by aforementioned older-skewing “Body of Proof” at a second-place 4.7/ 8 at 10 p.m. Retention for “The Taste” out of the 8:30 p.m. portion of “Celebrity Wife Swap” (5.2/ 8) was weak at 62 percent.

In week two news, CW drama “Cult” dipped by 12 percent from its already DOA debut, with a mere 0.7/ 1 in the overnights at 9 p.m. And the 0.8/ 1 one week earlier translated into 860,000 viewers and a 0.3 rating/1 share among adults 18-49 (based on the Live Plus Same Day data). Retention for “Cult” out of 8:30 p.m. portion of on-the-fence lead-in “Hart of Dixie” (1.1/ 2), meanwhile, was 64 percent. Tick, tock…the cancellation clock is ticking.

Overall, “Hart of Dixie” averaged a weak 1.2/ 2 (#5) in the overnights from 8-9 p.m.

Over at Fox, a one-hour edition of “Raising Hope” did not resonate with a fourth-place 2.6/ 4 from 8-9 p.m. And it led into diluted “New Girl” (#2: 3.5/ 5), which always picks up noticeable steam in the young adult demos, and freshman “The Mindy Project” (#3: 2.5/ 4), which is not worthy of a second season.

Fourth-place NBC was virtually off the charts with its weak combination of two episodes (original and repeat) of “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” (8 p.m.: #3, 2.9/ 5; 8:30 p.m.: #3, 2.6/ 4), “Go On” (#4: 2.3/ 4), “The New Normal” (#4: 2.2/ 4) and “Smash” (#3: 2.6/ 5). Minus the lead-in support from “The Voice,” “Go On” is a shell of its former delivery.

-Ratings Breakdown:
It was a clean Tuesday overnight sweep for CBS care of NCIS (12.8 rating/20 share – No. 1 for the evening), spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles (9.8/15) and freshman drama Vegas (5.9/10). But retention for Vegas of just 61 percent out of the 9:30 p.m. portion of NCIS: Los Angeles (9.7/15), plus the expected older audience skew, means life past season one is a long-shot. One year earlier, former 10 p.m. time period occupant Unforgettable was stronger at a 7.0/12 in the overnights (out of a 10.1/16 for NCIS: Los Angeles) on 2/21/12. Don’t forget that Unforgettable returns this summer for season two.

In series-premiere news, CW drama Cult was DOA with an embarrassing 0.8/ 1 from 9-10 p.m., which was 27 percent below failed year-ago occupant Ringer (1.1/2 on 2/21/12). Retention for Cult out of lead-in Hart of Dixie (#1: 1.1/ 2 from 8 p.m.) was 73 percent, and there was a loss of one-tenth of a rating point (or 12 percent) in the second half-hour (0.8/ 1 to 0.7/ 1). Since most new shows drop in the vicinity of 10-20 percent in week two, forget about confusing Cult.

In season-premiere news, the return of older-skewing retooled ABC crime solver Body of Proof was a positive with a 5.2/ 9 (#2) at 10 p.m. Compared to its year-ago overnights (4.7/ 8 on 2/21/12), this was an increase of 11 percent for Body of Proof. The retention out of a Tuesday 9 p.m. edition of The Bachelor (#2, 6.1/10 from 9-10 p.m.) was solid at 85 percent (although the young adult demo retention will not be as strong). And Body of Proof beat competing Smash on NBC (#3: 2.8/ 5) by a considerable 86 percent.

Earlier in the evening on the alphabet net was cooking competition The Taste at a distant second-place 3.8/ 6 at 8 p.m. Not so tasty, unfortunately.

Over at NBC, two episodes of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers (original and repeat) averaged a 3.1/ 5 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. (8 p.m.: #3: 3.2/ 5; 8:30 p.m.: #3, 3.0/ 5). Minus the lead-in support of former (and returning) lead-in The Voice, once promising Matthew Perry sitcom Go On finished fourth in the 9 p.m. half-hour with a 2.6/ 4. And that led into also freshman sitcom The New Normal at a third-place 2.3/ 4 at 9:30 p.m. Note to the producers and writers of The New Normal: A depressing storyline like last night may not be the best way to attract an audience in search of some laughs.

Aforementioned Smash on NBC at 10 p.m. (#3: 2.8/ 5) dipped by 24 percent from year-ago occupant Parenthood (3.7/ 6 at 2/21/12). Good intentions and a quality production do not, unfortunately, necessarily lead to mass appeal.

Deteriorating Fox capped off the evening with Raising Hope (#4: 2.6/ 4), a repeat of New Girl (#4: 1.9/ 3), the original installment of New Girl (#3: 3.3/ 5) and freshman entry The Mindy Project (#4: 2.2/ 3), which dipped by 33 percent from New Girl. One year earlier, New Girl was considerably stronger with a 4.5/ 7 (out of a 5.5/ 8 for Glee).

In late night, David Letterman on CBS (2.9/ 7 to 2.2/ 6 by half-hour: - 8 percent from the year-ago evening) finished first in the 11:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. hour with an average 2.6/ 7 in the overnights. Next was Jay Leno on NBC at a 2.4/ 6 (3.0/ 7 to 1.8/ 5: - 8 percent), followed by relocated Jimmy Kimmel on ABC at a 2.1/ 6 (2.5/ 6 to 1.6/ 5). Diluted Nightline, which scored a 3.2/ 8 in the overnights in the 11:30 p.m. half-hour one year earlier, followed with a 1.3/ 4 at 12:30 a.m.

Jimmy Fallon on NBC (1.3/ 4 to 1.1/ 4) and Craig Ferguson on CBS (1.3/ 4 to 1.0/ 4) were tied, each with a 1.2/ 4 from 12:30-1:30 a.m. And Carson Daly closed the night for NBC with a typical 0.8/ 3 in the overnights at 1:30 a.m. Some things never change.
