There are many things on which one can develop a mini-project in Computer Graphics using OpenGL. As previously told, Computer Graphics and Visualization lab is one of the interesting subject in Computer science stream in VTU courses. It have programs that need to be executed during the labs, beside it student need to work on a mini-project to use the skills they learn in Computer Graphics.

Photoshop Content-Aware to remove unwanted image

There are many time we got the picture, where we need to remove a certain image while retaining the background. For this Adobe had introduced Content-Aware feature in Photoshop CS5. Let start how to remove a part of image which is unwanted part.

Step 1: Choose your image. Open it in Photoshop, duplicate the layer to retain original image.

Step 2: Select the part of the image which you want to remove using the selection tools. You can use any tool (lasso or quick selection, )

Step 3: Go to Edit menu, select Fill option (or Shift + f5)

Step 5: After selecting the Fill option, a pop-up window will appear. Select Content-Aware as shown in figure and press enter (or click on ok).

Experiment with the opacity and modes as per your image.Your image is ready, the final image as shown below.

To remove the cup and the red table, i had re selected these part and apply the above process to get the image shown below.

Its very easy to do, take your images and do the experiments on it. Make sure that not all image can be extracted as this tool has its own limitation. How do you like this tutorial? Express your view by commenting.

Google Goggles added currency recognition

Google Goggles is a sophisticated search tool which scan image and search for it on web. Since it launch in 2009, it had gone through many improvement, added many useful features like recognizing the book covers, logos, works of art, barcodes, music labels, sudoku puzzles etc. This helps in recognizing the many different images. For this Google had partnered with many- museums like the Getty Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Google added currency recognition in Google Goggles, which will recognize about 45,000 different types of currency from more than 300 countries. Now user can upload any picture of banknote to get the information about it.

Google Goggles not only recognize the current currency note but also some of the old outdated currencies that are no longer in circulation, like the Italian lira and French franc.

There are different subjects that students of engineering need to learn. In VTU syllabus, most of the subjects are boring theoretical. One Subject is "Computer Graphic", which quite interesting. There is a lab allotted for this subject as well. A part from the theory and the practical labs, one of the best thing is included in syllabus is to develop a good mini-project based on learning of "Computer graphic". The platform taught in the syllabus is OpenGL, thus all the projects need to be worked out in same.

Basically a mini-project is need to be made using the concepts of "Computer graphic" with OpenGL using the Visual Studio. Student need to choose various topics of mini-project and implements it. There are many projects developed. Here I mentioning, 5 of the Good projects which can be easily implemented and understood.

Solar System : Implements the ideas of solar system using the graphics technique. Shows the planetry system, with it working.
Selective Repeat arq : Demonstrate the idea of how the 'Selective Repeat arq' works.
Gear Motion : Shows the moving Gears in vehicles. It implements the mechanics behinds the gears.
Stream Engine : Demo the working principle of a miniature stream engine.
Graphics Editors : Implement the graphics editor application like paint.

Surprise for Valentine Day in Google search

Google has many surprises in it search. In past we have seen so many easter eggs in Google. There is new surprise for Valentine Day. Type the following in Google-

The keyword used in searching contains so many mathematical functions including cos which trace the interior of heart graph in an algebraic sum. The graph with the equation for an heart as you can see in the image. This heart graph is formed as we see the solutions in calculator, there is many potential hidden trick for the Google. This equation is not generated by engineers of Google but user had created it.

Android gets Google Chrome

Google Chrome one of the fastest growing browser which leave behind in other browsers in speed since it launch in 2008 is now available for Android as well.

In a blogpost Google announced the Chrome browser for the Android devices. The Android beat is only for the phones and tablets that are running on the latest Android 4.0, the ICS (ice cream sandwich). It is much faster then the Android inbuit browser. It has all the features including simple UI, omnibox, tabbed browsing, incognito mode, synchronization etc.

New tab view allow to see the opened tab once and also the stacks of the opened tabs with number indicating how many are still opened.

With the Google accounts user can synchronizes the favourite sites, bookmarks, auto-fills, password from the pc to phone and the vice versa. It also allows to transfer of the sessions. The chrome options are more viable which are simple to access as well as more featured oriented. User can also enable private mode as well saving pages for offline reading. Bookmarks of phones as well as the imported bookmarks from other pcs are kept separately.

The chrome for Android still lacks few of the features like the desktop-website. Chrome no doubt will sooner replace the traditional browser but it all time knows. While it still only available for ICS other devices will have to upgrades to have the Chrome.

Google Celebrates Charles Dickens' 200th Birthday with great Doodle

Today Google displayed a good Doodle with it logo filled with different characters from Charles Dickens' books and novels. Google honored Charles Dickens on his 200th Birthday. Doodle is having the character of the Dickens novel around the Google logo, with each one represented in a way forming the logo.

Charles Dickens was a great English novelist. He was born on 7^th February 1812, in the city of portsea. He was considered as greatest writer of the Victorian period. He worked were much famous because of his way of representing the stories differently. "David Copperfield" is one of his greatest works. Other great works from were - "A Christmas Carol", "A Tale of Two Cities" etc.

In early days of his life he worked as journalist, later he start writing stories, with his first story 'A Dinner at Poplar Walk' get published in the London periodical, Monthly Magazine. Dicken works were not only fictional but he wrote stories like poems. He died on On 8 June 1870 at an age of 58 years.

Like many chrome is my favorite browser. It has good and cleaner user-interface, speed, instant page loading, alots of apps and extension etc. Google adding small updates to chrome slowly thus making it choice of many peoples.

With apps and extension you can make your chrome to be, just more than a browser. There is many apps that will make the Chrome a play-station. Let examine 10 best of my choice those can be played even without connection to web.

1. Angry Birds:

The most famous offline capable gaming application for Chrome from Rovio Entertainment Ltd. I think most of the Chrome user had played it , if not give a try. Game is based on the revenge of birds from the green pigs who stolen their eggs . There are about 189 levels and 21 more levels in the chrome dimension. With each level your appetite for playing will rose apparently. It not easy to get 3 star! in each level. you need to apply some tricks to have it.

This is the war-game, where user are have to defend the tower, protect it from multiple enemies aproaching in waves. Actualy it is board strategy game where user to have prevent the the circles of different types (waves) to enter the hole(your tower) coming from another hole. User will have 20 lives (after 20th time circle enter the tower game ends), along with 200 golds at start-up. Use Gold wisely to place the towers which attack and kill those circles. Every 15 sec new circles comes with different sizes, colors and most the speed.

7. Scene Memory

Best memory games where user first have to see the scene after that mark it in next within the time limit allotted. In each level user have to mark the no of objects which is equivalent to no of levels. If user miss even one object's right place game overs. There is no hints or second chances. It is not that easy as most of you think as literary at higher levels it became too hard to hit right place.

8. Bouncing Letters

Fire with canon, the coming letter to the places in the borad and make the word with 3-5 letters. As you finish the particular no of words, level will completes. With each level it the formation of word became harder, and it is almost difficult to form words. This game also test the vocabulary of the person, so for those who wish to test his English vocabulary may opt this game. This also helps in improvement of word powers as many time you might form the words unknowingly. The game end when all the letter packed in the spaced and placed left, mean even if the single letter touched the ground it all over.

9. Think Ahead

It is game of strategy and trade off. It have a different moves to play but when there is no move avialble the games ends. For Chrome user the rules is as- "remove numbers in the one horizontal row with the yellow beam behind it". This game can be played both offline as well as online. For more competition get online or just play with Al offline.

10. Canvas Life

This game is inspired by Conway's Game of Life. User have to prevent the the bad to eat good. Well this is too heavy games but have many features that make it worthy. Life is supposed to be played with humans, zombies and droids.

Blogger from today redirecting all Blogspot.com to Blogspot.in domain for every blogs in India. If you are an INDIAN user and gone through mine blog or of yours you must have noticed it in the url. If you have not just look around once!

Google owned Blogger had made this change from today. So when ever a user in INDIA try to visit the blogs that are of INDIANS they will be redirected from Blogspot.com to Blogspot.in domain. While for rest of the world, it will not be get redirected. For example considered below for mine blog.

Blogger had precisely redirecting all url so that they do not end up with 404 error for any post. Most of the user even will not noticed the changes at the moment but, they will comes to now slowly. There is no changes been for those who own the custom domain for the blogger's blog.

What are the Problems?

Problem in SEO: If you getting linked with Blogspot.com then in INDIA it will redirected to Blogspot.in, but same is not true for Blogspot.in links. So Blogspot.in url will be visible to INDIAN user only and if user from other countries try to visit through the link it will show errors. Hence a bit of problem in for SEO.
Alexa rank problems: Since you will have two different url for the same blog, the traffic will surely divides and might you will lose you Alexa ranks. Both the url ( Blogspot.in and Blogspot.com) will have diffrent alexa ranks, surel the rank of Blogspot.com will drops.
Social Sharing problem: Since Now url is changed offcourse, if a user in INDIA share it on social media sites it will be Blogspot.in url and those who share and are out of INDIA will share Blogspot.com url. Hence say, your Facebook likes or Tweeter counts will be not added for both url to merge as one, they will have separate counting. This problem will for all the sharing site site including Google Plus, Diggs, Stumbles etc.
Problem with Search Engines: This change of having two url for same post will have negative expression on Search engines. Even if Google didn't make any changes as they own Blogger( which they are suppposed to be doing) other like Bing and Yahoo will not favour.
Problem of interlink: Some time it would be difficult for a blogger if he didn't precisely works while posting the interlinks in the posts. He might linked the url with Blogspot.in, which will be visible by INDIAN only and rest will see an error. Quite frustrating!
Page Loading Speed: I had seen the page loading take more time then it was way before. I might think this problem will not be there anymore.

Any Solution?
There is no solutions for these problem. They can only solve by Google if they withdraw this change. However, in user's part they can view the original Blogspot.com by adding /ncr. which is suggested by Digital inspiration's Amit Agarwal.

But question is will user bother to do this? I feel they will not.
Another thing he added, to have the following link in the templates between the closing and opening head tags.

Google Developed Android apps are most used in INDIA

The Android apps developed by Google is more used by users in INDIA. In a research conducted by Nielsen Informate, which they states in the blog-post, INDIAN smartphone users spend about 25% of time on the Google developed Androids apps. In Google dominance, in it's own apps, Android market lead which is followed by You Tube and Gmail.

Google dominates the 5 out of 7 apps category (genres) as said in the survey results. Google maps, You Tube, Gmail, search and Android market apps lead thire respective categories, while Facebook leads in the Social Networking and Nimbuzz in Chat apps categories respectively.

In terms of time spend Still Google dominates in all except in the Social Network and Chat category. In Social Network Offcourse Facebook dominates, Google only able to grab a percent.

Similar pattern is seen in the different age groups. Google apps dominates uniformly over all age groups among the smartphone users.

Survey though give most of the details but, it failed to explained about the how apps in other platform performs. It is also stated about the apps uses in different platform by INDIANS. Comparison of platform as well apps is not provided.

While Nokia's Symbian is most popular smartphone in INDIA, but Android is giving it tough competition. ios devices still need to make foot step in INDIA, they are too much expensive which leading them down. While we can find good ranges of Smartphone based on Android which stars as less as Rs 5000.

Aamir Khan reveals the first look of his upcoming movie "Talaash" on the official Facebook page. The buzz about this movies was going on since Nov when he finally named it.

The psychological thriller movie is written and directed by Reema Kagti. Aamir khan is co-stared with Rani Mukerji and Kareena Kapoor. Trailer seems very exciting with Aamir khan in the role of police officer.

Twitter to censor contents on country-by-country basis

Twitter which was supposed to be a platform for freedom of speech among the users in different countries, now will censor the contents according to countries. In a blog-post twitter announced that, they will "withhold content from users in a specific country". This mean that certain tweet from users will be removed in specific countries, if it violates the laws there while rest of the world can have access to it.

“The open exchange of information can have a positive global impact … almost every country in the world agrees that freedom of expression is a human right. Many countries also agree that freedom of expression carries with it responsibilities and has limits.”

Earlier when a tweets was removed, it was unavailable globally but now onward the tweets will be removed in specific countries only making it view able to others. If a Tweet is withheld, user will be notified to their account . Twitter had partner with Chilling Effects, where the decision of twitter will be publicly available on the censored contents.

Good or Bad?

Twitter is rising globally and it need to reside in the countries where there is restrictions so have foot-hold in those countries they are taking the decisions. Twitter is playing good to grow it's business. This decision is helpful in expanding the growth of twitter but not for the users. The censoring of tweets suppress the freedom of speech online. It make possibly that the users will not able to reach where they want to, example considered the last year 'Revolution in Egypt'. Will it be possible with this censorship? no!

Twitter is making tough decision but want user to get in flow with twitter. What you believe this good to censor tweets like this?

Samsung leaks : Galaxy tab will have S Pen for 3D Gesutre

A leak from Samsung employee, shows that what will Galaxy Tabs will have in coming future. According to the Electronista Samsung product marketing manager Ryan Bidan on Tuesday gave the hint about the next Galaxy Tabs.

"I think a pen interface continues to make a lot of sense across a number of screen sizes, like the larger is more obvious of those," Bidan said. "That’s about as specific as I can be without announcing a product."

The S pen will be supposed to be with a new Galaxy Tab in the coming days. This is supposed to be the 3D gesture for user to interact with the devices. It is also supposed that soon after the integration of pen in Galaxy tabs it will available with other products as well.

New Google account makes Gmail and Google Plus mandatory

Google in process of boosting the no of users in Google plus made huge change in which user creates accounts with Google. Now it is mandatory that people who is signing up for a Google account must have to create a Gmail account as well to join the 9 months old Google Plus. It is unlike previous way where, if people want to use a single product say Docs or You Tube they need to give any email for the Google account.

Making these process mandatory for user Google want to add up users in it Google Plus. This is though not user-friendly way of getting users. It give user extra burden and is far more time taking as well as not so simple. Google forcing as they integrate everything with Google plus to use it and stay on it. This is getting quite worst for Google as they are not succeeding in engaging user on the new social venture.

After a poor performance by team INDIA in Test matches series in Australia, not only fans are unhappy but commercial companies as well. INDIAN cricket team who performed disastrously became source of jokes by people. To add to this more worst thing is going with them. Advertiser companies now looking now non-cricketers for the promotion of products.

The Television industry is also getting less viewers as cricket fan didn't want to watch humiliation of team INDIA. The TRP is getting downing in by alomost 20% on average. According to Cricinfo, the TPRs for the first two Tests were 0.89 and 0.70 which quite less in compared to 1.07 and 1.30 in 2007-08, the previous tour.

Advertiser are sure that the advertisement rate will go down in upcoming series and more advertiser will not prefer to have crickets as brand ambassadors for their products. Sponsors are pulling the ads of cricketers from been advertised and opting for others. Market sure not much favorable for the cricketers advertisement and it looks like even in T20 or ODI series if INDIA didn't do well then nobody will save these cricketers who will loss fans support as well as their money what they are getting from advertisers.

Mind set of pople may changes if INDIA do well in fast versions of cricket but it unlike that the rate of advertisement will go high. First Look at Microsoft Social Network, So.cl

Microsoft launches So.cl, it's Social network for Students in mid December last year with limited access. As previously stated, it use Facebook Login to sign in to the site. Today I got, the invitation from them and without wasting time I accept the invitation and Login to socl with my Facebook account. Then I think to give a first look on it. See the Welcome screen below in the image.

As, You can see It display Facebook profile pic as Socl profile pic. It has all the feature what Facebook have along with what new feature in Google+ (like of editing the post after sharing). You can invites upto 10 of your friends.

It has a posting bar, which allow user to share status or search internet along with a button which let choosing between the public and private posting. There as home page box on it and you can see the notification in the right most corner, with a box left to the profile pic near the name.

In left, use can choose the feeds that they want to see from either fro everyone or from just those whom you follow or just your feeds. The search will let you search web,images, videos etc using Bing search. The videos parties will let you create the parties or view you old parties or join to new one created by other. The party can be created by the link at right. The profile link is also in left, it shows you all activity including the status, searches and the videos parties you have posted or participated in.

There is a slide which changes randomly with different user's update that they posted along with the profile of user. This shows important updates or famous one. When can edit a post that you shared it which can be embedded as well as shred on Facebook too. Tagging a post let you tag any post.

Google Maps game will arrive on Google+

Google in a video reveals, that they will launch a game based on Google Maps "Play your world" to Google+ in February. This new game is developed by Google Maps team using the webGL.

The interactive games uses ball, which is guided by user without getting it slip in a holes over the maps. User will cross different destination on the maps by navigating the ball. While rolling the ball user will gain points on certain locations which is marked by Zagat ( a local review service acquired by Google in sep 2011). In this Game both the indoor and outdoor maps are used.

Google Doodle Honor Nicolas Steno on his 374th birthday

Google Honors Nicolas Steno, Danish geologist and anatomist with a doodle on his 374th birthday. The Doodle features Earth with various layer of fossils and green crust soil at top while spelling the Google logo. This idealizes the study about the fossils, which Nicolas Steno do. Clicking on the Doodle will take user to search results page for Nicolas Steno.

Nicolas Steno is known as father of Geology, who worked on rock formation, layers of rocks and fossils. He is the one who propose the idea that the fossils are remains of dead living organisms and sedimentation is the main reason behind formation of rocks. He also had give information on the earth's strata and fossils and purposed that layers of rock had a chronological history of geologic events, and the fossils could provide us information about the earth's history.

He gave up science and became Roman catholic in 1667 and was made a bishop in 1677. He died at the age of 48 on November 25, 1686.

Google personalized search with “Search plus Your World”

Google introduced new features in it search to get personalized results. Google has integrated the Google plus in search by adding three new features - Personal Results, Profiles in Search and People and Pages. These feature will let users to fetch, information on Google plus like posts, photos,videos, circles, people, profiles and pages concentrating on the things, that is share with them.

In the blog post, Amit Singhal wrote "We’re transforming Google into a search engine that understands not only content, but also people and relationships."

Personal Results: which enable you to find information just for you, such as Google+ photos and posts—both your own and those shared specifically with you, that only you will be able to see on your results page;
Profiles in Search: both in autocomplete and results, which enable you to immediately find people you’re close to or might be interested in following;
People and Pages: which help you find people profiles and Google+ pages related to a specific topic or area of interest, and enable you to follow them with just a few clicks. Because behind most every query is a community.

With "Search plus Your World" Google personalizing the search with Google plus which shows the pesonal searches along side with the regular search. Users can toggle between the web search, and the personalized search with the button at top right. The personalized searches will only be visible to the user with separate control in Search Settings. Google also told that they are securing the search results with SSL encryption.

This new prominent feature will roll soon throught, but is limited to signed user who is searching on Google.com in English.
