One of the best ways to get .edu sites to want to link to you is to offer the University’s stakeholders something of value. In my experience, offering an industry-specific or general scholarship is one of the easiest way to grab fistfuls of .edu links.&lt;br /&gt;
First, find pages on .edu domains with scholarships. It's important that you do this before you create your scholarship. This way, you'll be able to tailor it around pages that have an especially high amount of PR to pass onto your site.&lt;br /&gt;
Here are some search strings to help you find scholarship listing pages:&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;The award amount&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The number of winners&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;A .pdf or online application&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Deadline&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Requirements (essay, specific major etc.)&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
Finally, reach out to the contacts you collected and let them know about your scholarship.&lt;br /&gt;

One of the most powerful ways to get anyone to link to you is to flatter them. And .edu bloggers are no different. By setting up a blogger awards or list of "Best X Bloggers," you'll be able to land .edu links with ease.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Here's how to do it.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
First, you need to find a group of related.edu and .gov bloggers that have a blog that's:&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul class="dots"&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Active&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Has clear contact information&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Dofollow outbound links&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;

But a specific category makes your shout out seem more legit)&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;
Start a new WordPress post.&lt;br /&gt;

.Edu and .gov resource page-link building is one of my all-time favorite white hat link building strategies. Why? Because resource pages exist for the sole purpose of linking out to other sites! Your job is simply to get whoever runs the resource page, assuming it isn’t spammy, to add a link to your site, which is much easier than asking for a random link.&lt;br /&gt;
You can find resource pages using these search strings.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;li&gt;site:.edu keyword+ inurl:resources&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;site:.edu keyword + inurl:links&lt;/li&gt;

Let's assume you have a site in the weight loss niche. You'd want to start off with broad searches like "health" and "nutrition" before getting specific. This will make sure you net a ton of resource page targets.&lt;br /&gt;

Then, see if they link to commercial &lt;em&gt;(non .edu or .gov)&lt;/em&gt; sites. A tendency to link to commercial sites significantly increases the odds that they'll link to you.&lt;br /&gt;

Most universities post a list of businesses that offer discounts and deals for faculty and students on the site. And you don't have to be a local business to get listed, either. As long as you sell something of value on your site — and can offer a deal to a number of schools — you can get a ton of links.&lt;/div&gt;
First, find .edu pages that list discounts with live, followed links.&lt;br /&gt;

This technique requires some hustle, but can pay off big time with a handful of authoritative .edu links. What you do is find sections of an .edu site that's ugly or out of date. Because most students groups lack the money and know-how to improve their section's design and functionality, they generally have a subdomain on the site that leaves a lot to be desired. These student groups are usually your best targets. And in exchange for your help they're generally more than willing to link back to your site.&lt;br /&gt;
First, search for student groups that are somewhat niche relevant. This will help make your offer of free help seem more organic.&lt;br /&gt;

Before I explain HOW to get your backlinks indexed, you need to make sure you aren’t making these mistakes.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;1. Your content isn’t unique&lt;/strong&gt; – no, I’m not saying go out there and write epic articles for all your backlinks. Not even in the slightest. BUT, it at least has to be readable and slightly different than your other backlinks. This is the greatest downfall of automated programs because no matter how much programing and spintax you use, it still can’t be more creative than you manually building the properties.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;2. Your links suck bro&lt;/strong&gt; – are you seriously mad because your social profile, comment, and forum links aren’t getting indexed? Dude, that worked two years ago. Catch up.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;3. You’re posting on sites with “noindex”&lt;/strong&gt; – Yes, some websites place this tag on new pages. So, make sure you watch out for this. If you’re using Chrome, just right click and “Inspect Element” to make sure you don’t see the “noindex” tag in the HEAD area.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;4. You’re posting on spammy platforms&lt;/strong&gt; – the credibility of the platform you’re posting your links on is essential to your index rate. So, if you’re only posting on auto-approve sites or SEnuke spammed-to-death sites, then don’t be mad that your links aren’t getting indexed.&lt;/div&gt;

How to Get Your Backlinks Indexed (Guaranteed)&lt;/h2&gt;
&lt;div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Unique Content&lt;/strong&gt; – Having unique content for your backlinks is the most important element to getting them indexed in Google. Now just to be clear, “unique” doesn’t mean writing a brand new article for every single property.&lt;/div&gt;

Before you freak out, you should take a step back and realize that people who have busted their butt writing completely unique articles for backlinks have been nailed by Penguin 2.0 and now Penguin 2.1 as well.&lt;/div&gt;

I have said this a million times, there is no difference between writing completely new articles and spinning content for your links. All that matters is that it’s UNIQUE. Most people can’t even identify high-quality spun content because it’s readable, valuable, and UNIQUE.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;Trusted Platforms&lt;/strong&gt; – Try to get links from trusted platforms. So if you’re building manual web 2.0s, then you should try to post on WordPress.com, Blogger.com, and other high-quality free blogging platforms. Google crawls these sites more frequently, than trashy auto-approve web 2.0 sites.&lt;/div&gt;

Also, if you’re building high PR links, they usually get indexed pretty quickly because Google crawls sites with high PageRank much more frequently than those without.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;Let it Happen Naturally&lt;/strong&gt; – the first step in my indexing process is simply to let it happen naturally. Like seriously. Just let Google do it’s thing and if you’re posting on quality platforms, many times your links will get indexed without any effort. HOWEVER, I made this post for a reason, and that’s because letting it happen naturally doesn’t always work. The majority of your links are going to need a little push to get indexed.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;strong&gt;Tier Two&lt;/strong&gt; (Links to Your Backlinks) – Don’t start having a rage fest because I’m talking about tier two links. Building tier two is not unethical or blackhat. It’s smart and if you aren’t doing it, then I can guarantee you’re struggling trying to get your links indexed. You can ping your life away, but it’s still not even close to as effective as building a second tier of links.&lt;/div&gt;

Just so you’re not confused: I’m not talking about building complex spammy link pyramids to “boost” your tier one links. This stuff is silly and a huge waste of time and effort now. The only reason I build tier two links to get my tier one links indexed. THAT’S IT.&lt;/div&gt;

Alright, cool. So now what? I’m going to show you the exact indexing techniques I use from least, to most effective.&lt;/div&gt;

I question whether or not pinging your links actually works. I still do it as a preliminary step because it doesn’t hurt, but do not expect crazy results from this step at all.&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"&gt;
For pinging use these services:&lt;/div&gt;
&lt;div class="entry-content" itemprop="text"&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;24/7 Pinger&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Ping Farm&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;BulkPing.com&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;BacklinkPing.com&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ul&gt;
&lt;/div&gt;
These are pretty self-explanatory. Just like anything else, don’t go crazy pinging your links. You only need to use one of these websites to ping your links. I just wanted to give you some options, but they all pretty much do the same thing.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Step 2: Linklicious&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;em&gt;Index Rate Potential = Low-Medium&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
I use the free version of Linklicious and it’s pretty decent, but it’s still only a preliminary step. It will get some of your links indexed with the free version, but like pinging, it simply does not provide enough of a push to get all of your links indexed.&lt;br /&gt;
Like pinging, only submit your backlinks one time to this service.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Step 3: Web 2.0s&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;em&gt;Index Rate Potential = High&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
Okay, this is when your indexing process gets real. At this point, probably about 30% of your backlinks will be indexed because of the previous steps. For those that aren’t, we are going to use Blogger.com to push those links a little harder. You’re probably asking: “why use blogger.com?” The reason why is because Blogger has incredible index rates on its web 2.0s. This is simply because Google owns it.&lt;br /&gt;
All you’re going to do is create a new web 2.0 and you can title it whatever you want. I usually make it relevant, but it honestly doesn’t make a difference.&lt;br /&gt;
Next, create a new blog post and paste no more than 10 of your non-indexed links in the post (create a new post for every 10 links). Linking with the naked link is perfectly fine. I recommend writing a sentence or two in the blog post such as: “Here are some of my favorite websites below. Please enjoy them!”&lt;br /&gt;
Publish the post and wait. It SHOULD get indexed right away, and as a result, Google will discover and crawl your tier one of backlinks. After you see that those links are indexed, remove them from the web 2.0.&lt;br /&gt;
And after all of the links are indexed, you can continue using this web 2.0s as your “indexing web 2.0″. Personally, I just delete them and create new ones for every new website I’m working on, but that’s up to you.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;Step 4: Social Bookmarks&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;em&gt;Index Rate Potential = High&lt;/em&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
If the web 2.0 tactic fails to get your links indexed, you can take it one step further. I use a nice little program called Social Monkee. It automates the social bookmarking process and saves me a ton of time. Believe it or not, the bookmarks it builds actually get indexed by Google.&lt;br /&gt;
I only use this step as a last resort.&lt;br /&gt;
I have a premium membership, which allows me to submit 3 URLs to 300 sites per day.&lt;br /&gt;

A) create a spintax for the title and description of the bookmarks&lt;br /&gt;
B) you can drip feed the links over 9-14 days&lt;br /&gt;
C) it is integrated with the Best Spinner.&lt;br /&gt;
IF you do decide to purchase it, I recommend writing one seed description and then write two variations. From there, spin the words and combine the sentences together to have an awesome spintax that could generate hundreds of unique descriptions.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;del datetime="2014-02-12T18:11:41+00:00"&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Step 5: Indexification&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/del&gt;– doesn’t work well anymore. I recommend using One Hour Indexing. It produces about a 70% index rate, which is really good for any type of indexing service. For the remaining 30%, use my blogger trick and you will get all your links indexed.&lt;br /&gt;

Track Your Results&lt;/h2&gt;
If you’re doing SEO, you need to be tracking everything you are doing. By tracking every single step, you are constantly testing your techniques and seeing what’s currently working. First thing you need to do, is see which backlinks of yours are currently indexed or not indexed.&lt;br /&gt;
Use this tool to find out that information. It allows you to download an excel sheet with the information you need and that you will transfer over to the sheet I’m about to show you.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;strong&gt;What I do:&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;ul&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I create an excel sheet titled “Indexing”&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;I paste all of my backlinks into the first column&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In the second column, I write “Indexed” or “Not Indexed” next to the link&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;In the rest of the columns, simply type each strategy into its own column&lt;/li&gt;
