Codemastars have released a brand new video, combining game footage with real life racing. The video, which was filmed at Wimbledon’s Speedway, looks to recreate Dirt Showdown’s infamous 8-Ball track.

Today Warner released a brand new trailer for Arkham City’s up-coming “Harley Quinn’s Revenge” DLC pack. The DLC pack will be available for Xbox 360 and PS3 from May 29th.

The character roster in Mortal Kombat Vita is great, as it combines all of the old standard characters, with all of the characters that were released via DLC to console gamers last year. This immediate combination of DLC for the handheld version is a  great move, as it provides players with even more to sink their teeth into at the start, especially if they are playing on the Vita after the PS3, or Xbox 360.

The interface for the Vita version is particularly noteworthy, as it combines your typical controller interface with the Vita’s touch screen.  The touch screen makes an appearance heavily throughout the game’s additional tower mode, but can also be seen in normal gameplay when inputting fatalities. The touch interface gives new life to fatalities, as you are now able to swipe out your fatality, rather than inputting it via the control pad.

The game’s story mode is pretty much mirror of that seen on the console version, but great all the same.  Story cut-scenes flow into gameplay almost seamlessly, bar a little graphical downgrade as you switch between the two. Past this graphical hop, the story and voice-overs remain the same high-standard as they were before, which is great, as they work well to introduce players to the game’s “good guys” systematically.

Alongside the story mode, Mortal Kombat Vita also features not one, but two Challenge Tower modes. The first of the challenge tower modes is again, a copy of the console version. The tower itself makes for perfect hand-held gameplay, as the individual challenges make for perfect pick up and put-down gameplay, which is perfectly suited to the vita device.

The vita version of Mortal Kombat introduces a ‘bonus’ Challenge Tower, which brings an additional 150 missions to the handheld version of the game. The bonus tower mode combines mini-games with combat to make players aware of the game’s vita exclusive interface options.  Included amongst these mini-games are two brand “test your” modes, which invite players to test their balance using the gyroscope and their slice using the touch screen.  Of these two modes, ‘Test Your Slice’ was definitely the most enjoyable, as it introduced a fruit ninja-like mini-game, in which players must slice a quota of falling body body parts in order to succeed.

In addition to the game’s bonus tower, Mortal Kombat vita features a easter egg practice stage. The easter egg’s “augmented reality” stage lets players fight it out in front of their camera’s current view.  Unfortunately despite its name, the AR mode doesn’t allow you to place characters on table tops, as they  remain on the screen in their normal side scrolling manner. Despite this slight failing, the mode is still pretty awesome, as it lets you place ANYTHING in the background. Better yet, if you want to fight and watch something at the same time, you can! Irresponsible parents just became a thing of the past..

Overall, Mortal Kombat is a great additional to the Vita’s line-up, bringing top class fighting to Sony’s handheld device. The game successfully picks up on the failings of the console versions, as it includes DLC and goes the extra mile with device exclusive content.

The game is being developed by ZeniMax Online Studios under the management of Matt Firor who has 20 years of online game development under his belt. Matt Firor commented on the announcement saying.

“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted. It will be extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years. The entire team is committed to creating the best MMO ever made – and one that is worthy of The Elder Scrolls franchise.”

According to Game Informer who made the reveal, the game will be set 1000 years before the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and will allow you to explore the whole province of Tamriel including the provinces of Cyrodiil and Skyrim.

This comes hot off the back of the multi award winning game Skyrim, right after receiving an update for Kinect compatibility and a new DLC being announced named “Dawnguard”

No news on a release date yet, but the game will be available in English, German and French languages.

This allows you to control many aspects of the game using only your voice. Voice commands includes the ability to assign and equip items without the need to go into menu’s, sort items by weight or value, command your follower or what most people will be looking forward to especially, perform dragon shouts. You can now literally yell “FUS ROH DAH!” and see your foes go flying!

Along with this, Bethesda also unveiled some info about the first piece of DLC coming to Skyrim. What do we know? A name and a picture. Not much info at the moment apart from the fact it will be called “Dawnguard” , but Bethesda is expected to give more information regarding the DLC at E3.

Along with this, Square Enix also announce an incentive for those who pre-order the game early off Amazon. If you pre-order the game, you will receive a game themed stylus (while stocks last). This will come with 17 stickers that allows you to customize it how you wish featuring some of the series most popular characters.

With this, they have also announced some of the features the game will have along with a synopsis of the story. Some of the features apart from the 3D includes; Dual Protagonists, New Worlds including “The Grid” from Tron: Legacy, new creatures and “Flowmotion” Action.

Trials HD was known for being a very fun but difficult motocross game as you try to tackle a series of “Trials” as quick as you can while at the same time not crashing. It was a very good game but the environments were bleak and depressing as you were riding in abandoned factories and derelict buildings.

Trials Evolution improves greatly on this. The environments are now far nicer and more colourful along with levels taking part in different times of the day. They are not perfect but are far more appealing to drive around compared to a derelict building, one level also gives a nod to Playdeads “Limbo”

In single player, you work across the tracks earning medals to unlock licence events that gives you better bikes and unlocks the next series of tracks. You will begin with them being very simple and easy to manage but as the game progresses through the difficulties you will find yourself being challenged and having to use all the different techniques that you learn in the licence tests. I find once you get to the latter part of the normal into the hard tracks Trials Evolution really shines as you will be constantly challenged and being able to complete the course without faulting will test your driving skills to the limit. Once you complete the Trials Cup, you can go back to all the previous tracks to try to earn the platinum medal. This will be appealing for the hardcore but might turn away some who had enough trouble trying to get the gold.

Along with this you get tournament and skill challenges. The tournaments are nothing special and is simply a series of tracks bunched together while you try to get all the tracks completed as fast as possible meanwhile the skill challenges I found especially fun. You will be given a series of wacky challenges from trying to fly as far as possible by mashing the X and Y buttons to flap your arms, to trying to survive as long as possible with your accelerator and breaks being jammed. Each challenge can be fun to play but the novelty wears off rather quick.

Part of what made Trials HD so addictive was its competitive aspect and is this game thankfully expands on the competitive aspect. If you play this with friends who also have this game, you will enjoy it that much more! You will find yourself doing the same track 10 times over just so you can take over your mate in the leaderboard’s only to find they have taken over you on another track. To add to this there is now a new mutiplayer mode that lets your race up to 3 other friends in a motocross race. I found there was connectivity issues when I was playing in terms of finding a game, but when you do have a game going, it can be very fun and very challenging as you try to keep your nerves under control as you race for the finish.

To top it all off there is a track creator that lets you edit, share and download your own tracks. You can choose between a simple and complex editor but both will take time to get used to and master, but once you get the hang of it you can create some seriously amazing tracks! And example I saw was someone making essentially, a Trials version of Angry Birds. I found the creator aspect great as it gives the community the chance to use the same tools RedLynx used to make the tracks seen in the main game.

Overall RedLynx has taken everything that made Trials HD so good and make it even better while also adding in some great new features. With an addictive single player, competitive multiplayer and genius track maker all for 1200MP this is more than worth your money. If you didn’t get Trials HD the first time round, get Trials Evolution, plenty of fun and mayhem awaits…
