The investors were eager to meet the women entrepreneurs of Rajasthan and witness the difference their social investments had made.

The next day, our social investors were set to meet women entrepreneurs from the villages around Udaipur and visit a namkeen manufacturing unit run by women of these villages.

**The first stop was the office of our impact partner Manjari Foundation** who helped us curate this inaugural SIT. The group learned about the incredible work of Manjari Foundation and how Rang De collaborates with partners to enable credit access for underserved rural communities across India.

Next were the visits planned to meet Mariyam Meena and Kamala Devi, **rural entrepreneurs who started a small clothing and grocery store** respectively in the Zanwar village with credit from Rang De social investors. They are now successfully running their business and earning an income. The social investors were moved by their stories and also thought of supporting their efforts by buying products from their stores.

**The last visit for the day was the namkeen factory** - our social investors met the women from the villages running the whole unit with support from Manjari Foundation, and got to know their individual stories. They also understood the value chain of production and marketing for the products - the challenges and opportunities ahead.

One of the most memorable experiences of the day was the “Do It Yourself” lunch, where investors had the chance to prepare traditional Rajasthani dishes—dal baati churma, chutney, and churma laddoos—on a sil batta. The joy of creating and savoring these dishes together brought the group even closer.

The day ended with a reflective session, allowing the investors to share their biggest takeaways, followed by a fun-filled evening of Rajasthani folk music, dancing around a bonfire, and enjoying authentic Rajasthani cuisine.

This was curated by Dipali Khandelwal, a Rang De social investor and a food and culture researcher from Rajasthan who is documenting the disappearing food cultures of India.

**Day 3 took the group from Udaipur to Chittorgarh**, where they were warmly welcomed by the women of Deori village with dhol and flower garlands. They met Rekha and Mamta **who were running their grocery stores** in the village and had started with access to low-cost credit enabled by the Rang De social investors. The social investors took time to understand their aspirations and also offered advice.

The day also featured a visit to a **women-run masala unit**, where the investors watched an inspiring Nukkad Natak (street play) performed by women from the local villages - trained and enabled by our impact partner Manjari Foundation.

The play and songs conveyed powerful social messages, and the confidence of the women left a lasting impression on our social investors. This was followed by a sumptuous lunch that was homemade and authentic. **The day ended with a visit to Chittorgarh Fort** where they witnessed a beautiful sunset and finished with the reflective hour that focused on sharing their learnings with the others.

**On the final day of the trip**, our social investors went to Ajmer where they met Shahnaj and Shagun - two women entrepreneurs running successful businesses and setting an example in their communities. Shahnaj, who started a goat farming venture with just four goats, had grown her herd to fifteen in a year.

She now leads 11 Self-help Groups (SHGs), enabling other women to become entrepreneurs. Shagun, who started an apparel workshop, now employs three people and exports her products to Europe.

By the end of the trip, this group of social investors had forged lasting memories, formed new friendships, and solidified their commitment to social investing. Inspired by what they had witnessed, they were eager to share their experiences and encourage others to join the movement.

This trip not only reinforced their belief in the power of social investing but also provided invaluable insights into how Rang De’s partners, not-for-profits, and CSR initiatives come together to drive real change.

**The social investors left with a renewed sense of purpose**, knowing that their contributions—whether big or small—are making a tangible impact on rural livelihoods across India.

To enable farmers and rural entrepreneurs across India with access to credit, become a social investor today at [rangde.in](https://bit.ly/45uYdaN)

**Wish to join us on the next Social Impact Trip?** Stay tuned for more updates!

"])self.__next_f.push([1,"7:["$","$L12",null,{"blogs":[{"id":256,"attributes":{"title":" Witnessing Change: A Social Impact Trip with Rang De Through Rural Rajasthan","description":"By the end of the trip, this group of social investors had forged lasting memories, formed new friendships, and solidified their commitment to social investing.","content":"$13","slug":"social-impact-trip","viewCount":"73","meta_desc":"By the end of the trip, this group of social investors had forged lasting memories, formed new friendships, and solidified their commitment to social investing.","createdAt":"2025-01-17T13:11:12.985Z","updatedAt":"2025-01-20T16:09:12.345Z","publishedAt":"2025-01-17T13:11:14.153Z","publicPublishedAt":"2025-01-17","is_featured":false,"author":{"data":{"id":4,"attributes":{"name":"Aditi Joshi","email":null,"createdAt":"2024-08-23T14:06:41.416Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-23T14:06:41.416Z","picture":{"data":{"id":112,"attributes":{"name":"Aditi Joshi.png","alternativeText":null,"caption":null,"width":1080,"height":1080,"formats":{"thumbnail":{"ext":".png","url":"/uploads/thumbnail_Aditi_Joshi_ef3cfade51.png","hash":"thumbnail_Aditi_Joshi_ef3cfade51","mime":"image/png","name":"thumbnail_Aditi Joshi.png","path":null,"size":29.73,"width":156,"height":156,"sizeInBytes":29725}},"hash":"Aditi_Joshi_ef3cfade51","ext":".png","mime":"image/png","size":860.69,"url":"/uploads/Aditi_Joshi_ef3cfade51.png","previewUrl":null,"provider":"local","provider_metadata":null,"createdAt":"2024-08-23T14:06:32.003Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-23T14:06:32.003Z"}}}}}},"category":{"data":{"id":9,"attributes":{"name":"Our Communities","slug":"our-communities","show_on_home":true,"createdAt":"2024-08-08T21:35:14.285Z","updatedAt":"2024-08-08T21:35:14.285Z"}}},"image":{"data":{"id":605,"attributes":{"name":"b83a3d74-a0c4-4df9-92e9-f570c87a8ca7.jpg","alternativeText":null,"caption":null,"width":1600,"height":1200,"formats":{"thumbnail":{"ext":".jpg","url":"/uploads/thumbnail_b83a3d74_a0c4_4df9_92e9_f570c87a8ca7_79e402e8a0.jpg","hash":"thumbnail_b83a3d74_a0c4_4df9_92e9_f570c87a8ca7_79e402e8a0","mime":"image/jpeg","name":"thumbnail_b83a3d74-a0c4-4df9-92e9-f570c87a8ca7.jpg","path":null,"size":12.49,"width":208,"height":156,"sizeInBytes":12485}},"hash":"b83a3d74_a0c4_4df9_92e9_f570c87a8ca7_79e402e8a0","ext":".jpg","mime":"image/jpeg","size":376.38,"url":"/uploads/b83a3d74_a0c4_4df9_92e9_f570c87a8ca7_79e402e8a0.jpg","previewUrl":null,"provider":"local","provider_metadata":null,"createdAt":"2025-01-17T13:04:51.894Z","updatedAt":"2025-01-17T13:04:51.894Z"}}}}},{"id":255,"attributes":{"title":"Strengthening India’s Social Fabric: Chandru’s Rang De Story","description":"He's a banker, a bond trader, a financial journalist, built products for credit ratings and even worked on sustainable finance policies.
