Rapha House is excited about the ongoing renovation project for our US Headquarters in Joplin, MO! We've had so much help from volunteers over the course of this year. Recently, our own Angela Foster (US Involvement Leader) and her husband Glen, along with additional volunteers, were able to remove some very old ceiling installations. They got a little messy during the process, but nothing a little soap and water can't get rid of!

Renee' s team from Joppa Christian held a Graduating Senior's and Rapha House Benefit Dance in Jarrettsville, Maryland on May 17th at a local farmer's barn! What an awesome idea! Thank you Renee and congrats Seniors!

Fireworks for Freedom

As we approach the 4^th of July, we Americans contemplate freedom and what it means to us. I learned about freedom at a very early age from my Grandfather who was a World War ll veteran. He talked to me a lot about his time in the navy- about battles fought and friends lost. He also talked about freedom and democracy and how important our American values are.

Through my school age years, I learned about the atrocities of slavery here on our own soil. I loved to read about the underground railroad and about the toils of Abraham Lincoln to bring freedom to the American slaves.

We are delighted to hold our 2nd Annual Rapha House Online Auction. Rapha House is the official charity of the 2013 International Racquetball Tour - Florida Spring Break ProAm Tournament held at the Harbour Island Athletic Club and Spa in Tampa Florida. Auction bidding will start on February 15, 2013 and end Saturday evening, March 9th, after the last semi-final match. The Sound of Giggling

A few days ago, I heard giggling and hand clapping coming from the counseling office of our smallest safe house in Cambodia. I rounded the corner to find a good old fashioned game going on of sing song hand slapping. You know the type where it gets faster and faster until someone messes up and they are OUT! I stood and watched them for many minutes until a victor emerged. And I thought that they could have been little girls anywhere.

We currently are creating a full-length documentary which will feature the stories of some former Rapha girls who have survived the horrors of trafficking. This documentary will allow these girls to be a voice for children all over the world who are trapped in the bonds of slavery.
