In uncertain and scary times, our handmade creations can provide powerful warmth and connection. This post is a celebration of that warmth, as seen through recently completed projects Ravelers have made using rich reds, oranges, and yellows. These cozy and warm colors can carry meaning, too... after all, warmth melts ice. Several of the projects featured here are made from or inspired by the viral Melt the ICE hat pattern, created by the Minnesota LYS Needle and Skein as a visible protest of ICE actions in the United States and raising funds for immigrant aid agencies.

Knitting and crocheting can be deeply personal forms of self-care, and in overwhelming times, that care becomes its own kind of resistance. Choosing to make something beautiful and warm when the world feels cold is a powerful act.

Fiber arts have also been used as a public form of protest and solidarity across generations. The Melt the ICE hat, which has gained attention on national news networks and is definitely a dominant force among our recently finished projects, is based on hat Norwegian knitters made to protest Nazi occupation of their country. Today, many of us, particularly in the USA, are spending our time calling and writing our government representatives, donating money and contributing to mutual aid organizations, and protesting in the streets. Of course, we're knitting and crocheting too; otherwise we'd probably combust. Using our crafting time to make projects in protest and connection with other crafters around the world helps us remember we're not alone.

Making things with yarn has always given us the ability to warm bodies and spark change. The Ravelry community has a long tradition of speaking up and out, and we love you for that. 💗🧶

Every year in June, Ravelry proudly celebrates Pride Month and makes Pride Flag flair available for decorating your profile pages.

To add your Pride flair, simply go to your Ravelry profile page and click on the add flair button. You'll be able to drag the little icons onto your picture and arrange them however you like! If you decide you don’t want something after all, just drag it back out.

When you're done, click I am finished, and now your flair-filled Ravatar will show on your profile page, in the forums, and on project cards around the site for all of June.

This month we are also honored to feature art by Archie Bongiovanni on our login page (you can see the full image at the end of this post!). Archie is a cartoonist, illustrator, and author of graphic novels, books and serial comics; you can see more of their work through the link above or on their all-ages site.

Ravelry, and the fiber community as a whole, is like every other space in the world: we'd be nothing without the presence, energy, and talents of LGBTQIA+ knitters, crocheters, weavers, spinners, designers, dyers, yarnies, teachers, authors, publishers, and shop owners. Queer Ravelers, wherever you are around the world, you deserve to be loved, seen, safe, and free this month and every month.

Times are uncertain and stressful for many of us right now (to say the least), and if that includes you, for whatever reason, maybe you would be drawn to some handmade comfort and sweetness. In February, Ravelers finished over 3500 animal softie projects, and we chose just a few of the adorable FOs to feature.

Emmyknits made a flock of bright and cheery Emotional Support Chickens for her Chickens 2025 project, while BUHIBUHI knit a darling trio of cat friends.

rafaelaedwards's Eski the Staffy is adorable with its jaunty head ears, and kscreates knit the most lovable New years lamb.

Alasundone's pleasant little Wild Rabbit looks ready for spring, while tammarie84's Shoebill Stork Amigurumi would be right at home in a marsh!

Finally, BusyMeBee's KiKo the little gorilla and The Parlor Cat from RomkeAnother look perfectly cuddly (and The Parlor Cat's pretty calico friend clearly agrees!).

My city has had its first snowstorm of the season and winter holidays are on the horizon, which means I'm ready to curl up with slippers on my feet and a crafty project in my hand until the evenings start getting light again. The colder months always give me the urge to make my home cozier with handmade knit and crochet projects. Here are some recently completed (and gorgeous!) home projects that Ravelers have shared.

When you purchase a pattern through Ravelry while you are logged in, the pattern pdf will automatically and seamlessly be saved to your Ravelry library. If you purchase a pattern while you are logged out, we know you'll still want to save it in your Ravelry library for safekeeping and easy searching, so we have some simple ways for you to add it after the fact!

With every Ravelry purchase, we send an email receipt to the email address associated with the PayPal account used to purchase the pattern. If you click on the download link in your email, you'll be able to log in and save it to your library.

Purchase Finder

We also have a handy tool to find any past library purchases linked to your PayPal email accounts: the Purchase Finder! You can access the Purchase Finder from your profile menu:

• click or tap on your Ravatar/profile photo at the top right of your screen
• select purchases; you can then click or tap on the Purchase Finder section (furthest to the right on your purchases page)
• enter any email address you may have used to purchase a pattern. We'll check for any purchases made with that email's associated PayPal account, and send a link to the email address you entered.
• click on the link in the email and we'll show you a page with any patterns purchased with the PayPal account you entered that aren't connected to a Ravelry account. From there, you'll be prompted to sign in to Ravelry (if you are logged out) to add it to your Ravelry library for safekeeping!

The Purchase Finder can also be found at ravelry.com/purchasefinder, whether or not you're logged in. If you think you may be missing a Ravelry pattern purchase in your library, give it a try!

The third weekend in October means something special for many yarn lovers: the New York Sheep and Wool festival! Affectionately referred to as Rhinebeck, after the town in which it is held, NYS&W is a celebration of all things yarn and fiber, and always serves as an incredible showcase for handmade creations. Making a new "Rhinebeck Sweater" and getting FO pics against a backdrop of beautiful fall leaves or happy festival-goers is a beloved tradition for attendees. Browsing weaving projects on Ravelry always inspires me. Although I have very little experience with weaving, seeing the beautiful projects from seasoned weavers always always makes me hope to spend more time creating with my loom. For today’s Eye Candy, I'm sharing a few of my favorite recently completed weaving projects.
