Raymond Lam reveals his relationship secrets
Fung recently completed his first concert “Endless Love Let’s Get Wet”. At the concert he played with water, selling his passionate side, and also sang love songs, revealing his romantic side. He also invited many guests, revealing his friendships. As what he had said, his first concert had “love” as a theme, but during the concert while we saw different types of “Fung love”, that is only on the surface, what about inside? To promote his “love” themed concert and new album, Fung revealed a lot about his thoughts during the interview. Surprisingly he didn’t use his typical “official” answers talking about work, he actually talked a bit about everything. Even didn’t mind talking about his shortcomings!

Satisfaction
Fung recently completed his first two concerts, for a first timer, objectively it was quite good. At least no one complained about it online after watching it. It didn’t have many negative responses. “We didn’t have a lot of time rehearsing this concert, because I had to film a series, record the new album, luckily there weren’t many mistakes during my performance! I give myself a 80 for my performance, quite happy with it! But after two shows, I discovered some pain in my waist, I think it was because I pushed too hard during dancing! Actually two shows wasn’t enough, I wanted to add shows, the company also said they can consider holding a Part 2 concert. No matter whether Part 2 does go ahead, I’m already very satisfied since I have only been a singer for two years and was able to hold a concert at the Coliseum!”

Family comes first
We don’t know whether concert part 2 will go ahead that soon, but Fung cannot rest yet. He needs to go back to film the series, really busy! Actually being in the industry for ten years, Fung is already very popular in the television circle. He is busy working every day and doesn’t have a lot of time for his family, this caused him to feel quite bad about it.

“I value my family a lot, my family always come first. My family is very warm, mum and dad love me a lot. Even though we don’t see each other a lot, they will always care about me, and make me feel very warm and special. Sometimes my mum will stay at my place for a few days, and make soups for me. But every year besides Chinese New Year, I can’t spend long periods of time with my family. So I always tell my manager to not take jobs during holidays, would rather spend time with my family than earning money. I remember when I was young the whole family would go on holidays, hopefully this year we can go on a family holiday, be away for 8 or 10 days!” Fung rarely talks about his family, but inside he values them a lot.

Friendships the strongest
Besides his family being important, it seems friendships are also important to Fung, because he had said before, “In TVB, who is not familiar with me?” Can see Fung has many friends after filming series for many years. So does he think he is a good friend?

“I usually let my friends make decisions, can alter my plans to suit them. Like organising group functions I am normally not the organiser. But I will help them, following their instructions. For long periods of time I have to fly to different places for filming, so my family cannot be beside me, so my friends are very important. I have many friends in the entertainment circle, but for those outside the industry, like my old classmates I still keep in touch with them. When they have birthday parties, sometimes I have to work and can’t go, but I will definitely buy presents for them. I have even couriered a present to their companies too!

Sacrificing for love
In everyone’s eyes Fung is rich and handsome so he should have lots of girlfriends. But he said he hasn’t dated for 10 years, is he really that dry? “For me, dating is not about finding someone to fill up time. I think if two people haven’t spent time together and get to know each other, then they’re not really dating. Since I have focused on working, I haven’t had time to develop a relationship. Love is very important to me, I hope I can start a family in the future, but at this moment I haven’t found the right person yet. If I can really meet the right person, I don’t mind altering my working schedule to be with her. At the end of the day I have to give up some things to spend more time with her, but it will really be worth it!”

Involved with love
Even though Fung said he hadn’t date for ten years, but surely he did meet someone he had feelings for? “In the past I did have feelings for a few girls, but when I ask them out I will feel restricted, because I was afraid that the reporters will make up stories. So I was very careful, causing barriers between us, and couldn’t get to know each other. Now I’ve thought about it further, actually going out with girls is very normal, even if we were dating it’s not a big deal. So now I’m not like in the past, where I was afraid to even talk to them and the reporters would take photos. Now I’m ready to date, when I meet “The One” I will chase her, and even love her with all my heart. This is because I have been waiting for “The One” for many years! It doesn’t matter whether she’s inside or outside the entertianment circle, because it’s not up to me to choose. If I find her, then it’s her! I wouldn’t deliberately reveal my romantic relationships, but if someone asked, I wouldn’t deny it.” So if Fung has girlfriend, he will silently admit it then!

Emotional person
After understanding Fung’s thoughts on family, romance and friendships, we can better understand his real personality! In his own eyes, what does he think of himself? “My best and worst traits are the same, emotional! My emotions fluctuate a lot, can get annoyed easily, but also easily pleased. I can stay calm while working, but I won’t hold back when I’m around with friends. You can tell from my face if I am happy or not. So if my friends see my expression change they will be careful! But I rarely get really angry, no matter what happens, my mood will recover very quickly.”

Fung selected B, meaning he cannot accept bad things being said about his family. He hates those who say things which hurt his family!

Passionate concert
Fung’s first concert was successfully held at the Coliseum last week. This time Fung really capitalised on his friendships, inviting many guests like FAMA, Charlene Choi, Miriam Yeung, Wong Cho Lam, Vincy Chan and Laughing Gor Michael Tse. Unfortunately his rumoured girlfriend Linda Chung was not there! Even though there were many guests, the focus was still on Fung, because when he was playing with water, all the female fans were drooling!

Linda Chung – afraid to say the wrong things
Because of the two “Heart of Greed”s, Linda and I became many people’s favourite on screen couple. I remember last year when “Moonlight Resonance” was aired, besides promotional functions, many advertisers asked both of us to appear together! Since we act as a couple in the series, for promotion purposes when we appear in functions, we will call each other and match what we are wearing.

I remember at one function, because she grew up overseas, she didn’t know much about some traditional Chinese objects which were related to the function. So she asked me all these questions about what things were for and what they meant, because she was afraid of saying the wrong things and be laughed by others! From this you can tell that not only is she a beautiful girl, she’s also very serious in her work. So many people ask me whether I would like a girlfriend like Linda, I would say yeah!

Raymond Lam and Tavia Yeung in new TVB Series
Following the concert, Raymond Lam will be filming a new series with Tavia Yeung and Kenneth Ma which is scheduled to commence filming in July. This series was written and drawn under the inspiration of Japan’s famous TV series “Detective Galileo”.

The tentative title of the series is [談情說案 - Shall we state the case], taking the role as Galileo, Raymond, is a university associate professor in physics. As a rational scientist, he believes that in everything, there exists a connection with the philosophy of science.

Raymond will pair up with the criminal investigator, Tavia in solving many criminal cases. In the new series, they will be romantically linked up as well.

Raymond said that he grew up with detective novels, however, this would be his first detective series and that this would be a new experience for him. Asked if he has watched the TV series, Raymond said: “I don’t even have the time to watch the series that I have acted in, hence, time just does not permit me to watch other series.” Asked if he is worried that he will be compared with Masaharu Fukuyama, he said: “In everything that you do, you will still be the subject of comparison, nevertheless, there are many differences, from the the scripts and plots to the actors and actresses with different portrayal of each roles and characters, I believe they are different altogether.”

Focuses on Romantic relationship
This would also be Tavia’s first time taking on a role as a criminal investigator. Tavia said: “This is a fresh new experience for me. The plot is also different, I certainly look forward to it”.

Asked if she is worried that this series will be compared with Japan’s “Detective Galileo”, “Not worried, it’s totally different storyline, and according to the Producer, Lau Ka Hou, this series will also focus on the romantic relationships, hence, I believe the audience will not compare this series with “Detective Galileo”.

We (from East Week) have found out that Raymond’s father, Lam Wah Kok owns many residential and commercial properties including acquired lands, which amounts to approximately HKD20Billion. Lam Wah Kok is one of the property developers in Xiamen, always been known as ‘Xiamen Li Ka Shing’. Lam Wah Kok and the Shaw family (Mr and Mrs Shaw - owner of TVB) are prominent citizens of Xiamen.

Raymond Lam’s grandfather, Lam Mung Fei graduated from the military school and he was then an inspector general. Apart from properties, Lam’s corporation acquired lands, estimated asset value to-date amounting to HKD 20billion.

Lam Wah Kok holds a permanent position as the chairman of the Hong Kong-Xiamen Federal Association, sitting alongside him is Albert Yeung. Raymond Lam is heavily promoted in EEG and last week, he held 2 successful sessions of a grand concert.

Raymond Lam is the eldest son (third generation of the Lam family). He studied Architecture in Southern California University so as to prepare himself in inheriting his father’s business. However, after he and his father had a casual meal with TVB Executive Mr Chan at that time, he decided to give up on his studies to join the showbiz. His father could only allow him to give it a try.

Raymond was supposed to return to his family business when he reaches the age of 30. Raymond: [My family has seen that my career path in the showbiz has been a smooth-sailing one, and they know that I take my job seriously. There was once, father came to visit me when I was filming in Mainland China, he saw that I was so exhausted that I could even sleep, leaning against the wall. Even though it has been tough for me, he knew that I was happy. Since then, he has not mentioned about the time limit anymore. They understand that once you are in any specific industry/job, things are always beyond our control, especially in the entertainment industry].

Preparing to Inherit Father’s Business

Raymond said that one day, he will still have to return to inherit his father’s business. Nevertheless, since I’m involved in the entertainment industry now, I would take this as a learning platform for me to gain more experience in preparation for business in future. He said : [The sooner I am out in the society, the sooner I would grow in every area of my life. In any industry, you need to develop good interpersonal relationships].

Even though he is residing in a luxurious condominium with a built-up area of 2000 over sq feet, driving a Benz, a present which was given by his father many years ago, however, Raymond said : [Actually, I have been financially independent all these years, I believe the only way to prove my capabilities and strength is through my earnings. This year, I am planning to invest in properties]. Property investment is his father’s forte, Raymond would also like to follow his father’s footstep to make his first earning from the returns of his investment in properties.

Hi everyone! After a bit of a crazy week I finally got home on Sunday night, after 11pm it was. Went straight back to work to Monday and now I’m just (a bit) exhausted! lol.

But unlike last month, I haven’t been slacking off Here’re the photos and videos posted so far. Just a note, all of my videos are pretty short, I was sitting behind the FF committee and other FF members so we were all a bit crazy and screaming lol.

I will keep updating this post everytime something new is posted. Alternatively, you can subscribe to our YouTube Channel, so you will be notified whenever a new video is posted!

I’m uploading all of my own stuff first because you probably have seen the translated news and photos on other sites. As Fung fans will know, his first concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum will be held on the 17th and 18th June! Now this is completely experimental, but after seeing some sites do this, I thought it would be a great idea to post updates from the concerts on Twitter! I will be arriving in HK on Friday, so this will probably be my last update for the next week or so. This year HK music fans are really lucky! Ever since the beginning of the year (after the Colieseum renovations finished), there had been one concert after another. During 2009, Hacken Lee, Alan Tam, Fahrenheit, Kay Tse etc had already held their concerts at the Coliseum. In June, Raymond Lam will hold his first solo concert there after being in the entertainment industry for ten years. Ah Fung is the favourite of TVB and EEG, this concert is promoted to be using all of their resources and energy, must be a win and not lose. Such an important solo concert, what secret weapons will Fung have? Will reveal it to everyone.

Playing with the four elements
Even though Fung has been in the entertainment industry for ten years, this is only the third year that he formally entered the music industry and became a singer. On the 17th and 18th June he will hold “Endless Love” Raymond Lam concert at the HK Colieseum. Being able to enter the big stage in such a short time is evidence that Fung has the ability and the popularity. Being Fung’s first solo concert, everyone is nervous about it. They are doing their best in every facet of the concert, bringing surprises to the audience, including the stage, costumes, dancing, songs, guests etc. Fung says, “This concert will have the theme of “Endless Love”. Actually this includes the four elements, passionate love, brotherly love, romantic love and friendship. Will reveal every element at the concert.”

Being revealing
Speaking of the four elements, when we heard “passionate love”, it made us thought of a sexy Fung. Fung: “I think this concert’s most unique feature is a segment where there there will be getting wet playing with water and dancing. There will be a group of dancers with fast songs. So in the concert poster I have already got water. There might even be more water at the concert. (So it will be very sexy?) It’s a healthy type of sexy, since June is approaching the holidays, and also summer. Hopefully the audience can have fun and dance together! (Will your outfits be sexy as well?) …… I think I will wear see through, can see but not too much, that type!” It is rumoured that Fung will also wear T-back, if fans want to see it they will need to buy the tickets which will let them shake hands!

Three sides like four sides
Fung: “This time the stage design is very unique. Because the company hired the famous designer Fion, who worked on the 360 degree stage Aaron Kwok had previously. Even though there will be a three sides stage this time, but there will be a close up effect like a four sides stage, guaranteeing the fans will have a chance to get up close. Besides this, as this concert will have a segment where we play with water, so the audience sitting at the front might get wet with me!” The concert will be in a three sides stage format, so there will be less seats available than a four sides stage concert. So fans who want tickets will need to buy early!

Dancing with Laughing
After talking about passionate love, we must speak about brotherly love. There is nothing adult about it, they wanted to reveal the “cool man” side of Fung. Fung: “There will be a part of fast songs and dancing at the concert. I also invited my good friend Laughing Gor Michael Tse to dance with me! Maybe many fans do not know, I am good friends with Laughing Gor, known each other for many years. When we meet we will sing together, but we’ve never really worked together so this will be the first time I’ve worked with him.”

Also Fung says he will reveal his cool side with beautiful clothes and hairstyle. There will be many outfits which will show a side of Fung which we’ve never seen before.

Will sing all types of songs
As the king of love songs, how could the concert not have a segment about romantic love? He said he will sing lots of love songs at the concert too. Fung: “I will sing many love songs from my two albums, plus I will release a new album soon. I will sing the songs from the third album at the concert for the first time. Besides love songs, I will also sing fast songs, even have the possibility of rapping.” These past two years Fung had concentrated on singing love songs, but for this concert, he especially invited Wyman Wong to write the concert’s theme song for him, “Let’s Get Wet”. This song combines energy with sexy, fans need to watch out for it!

Linda Chung difficult to schedule
Finally we’ll talk about friendships. Fung says since he’s been in the industry for ten years, he knows many people. When many of his friends found out he’s holding a concert, they all wanted him to reserve some tickets for them. So there will be many stars on and off stage. Fung: “There will definitely be guests at the concert. Actually we’re inviting many now, but the confirmed guests are Vincy Chan, Charlene Choi, and also will have older generation guests. (Will Linda Chung be a guest?) Hehe! I invited her, but the company said they haven’t scheduled her yet, because she’s very busy, very difficult to schedule! But I also know there are guests that many fans want me to invite, so I hope I can satisfy everyone!” Looking at Fung’s expression, it seems Linda cannot escape, if she doesn’t come, he’s afraid that fans will want a refund!

The feeling is like dreaming
After speaking about the content of the concert, of course we have to talk about Fung’s feelings. He said he only believed what was happening just a few days ago. Rehearsing from this month
Actually the last two albums that Fung had released all sold very well. So this gave a lot of confidence to him and the company. But having confidence doesn’t mean he’s not nervous and feels a lot of pressure. Fung: “Of course I feel pressured. But I can only turn pressure into energy. From this month, the company will allocate ample time for me to rehearse, so I can prepare well. (Will there be pressures of ticket sales?) Move a swimming pool to the Hong Kong Colieseum, we’re not holding the East Asia Games. It is for preparing my upcoming 2009 concert, on the 17th and 18th June. “Endless Love” concert is a celebration of my two years in the music industry. Water is the theme, and even invited Wyman Wong to especially write the concert theme song “Let’s Get Wet”. I will prepare fast songs and dancing to face the audience, sweating a lot, plus there will be sexy outfits. Inviting everyone to be at the HK Colieseum to party with him. Everything is ready, I’m also ready, just waiting for your appearance.

Being in the music industry for two years, released two albums, holding two concerts. Is this the best time? Last year the company had already mentioned they will hold a concert for me, and I decided to spend more time to accumulate more songs and experience then make a decision. But unexpectedly they told me it will happen this year at the Colieseum. I haven’t even hold a mini concert before, the first time will be at the HK Colieseum! Since everyone has a lot of confidence in me, believing that the timing is good, I will need to believe in myself, giving my everything to do as best as I can.

The HK Colieseum is the dream stage for all Hong Kong singers. Success or failure will determine my fate. I will turn pressure into my driving force! When I heard this news, I was very excited. The Colieseum is every singer’s dream, I couldn’t believe this was real, like a dream. Until last week at the press conference, I was finally sure that this was not a dream.

Earlier I was busy filming “Picking star of adventure”, then practicising dancing and my fitness. Everything was jam packed, I was afraid that I didn’t have time to rest, fearing the most that I will forget the dance steps. Luckily the company has scheduled me with the fittest dance choreographers Sunny and Chris. All other crew members are the best in their fields. Really like to thank the company as they have contributed many resources to the concert.

Self-Confidence
Two years in music scene, 2 albums, 2 sessions of concert, is this the right time? Raymond admitted that he is worried but at the same time he is confident : [Last year the company has told me about organizing a solo concert for me, and I was planning to spend more time on singing and gaining as much as experience possible before I decide further about having my own concert. It was totally out of my expectations when they broke this news to me. I have not even had any experience in running a mini concert and all out a sudden I am told that I will be taking this big step to stage a solo concert at the Coliseum this year! So, I was thinking if everyone is confident in me and felt that the timing is right, I just have to believe in myself do all that I could and try my level best].

HK Coliseum is a place where HK singer dreams to stage their own solo concert, is also a platform that determines a singer’s future success or failure and above all every song that you sing lives on for eternity.

Raymond, being a newbie, is now given such a golden opportunity, inevitably he feels the pressure : [Instead of focusing on the pressure, I will use it as an avenue to motivate myself! When I was told of this, pressure aside, I felt excited about it, the Coliseum is every singer's dream, I could not have imagined that that this is going to be reality, and I thought this could not be happening, not until last week's Press Conference only was I able to be convinced that this is not a dream after all!]

In view of his intense filming schedule [Journey of a Star] in China, every concert-related interviews and shooting has to be done in parts, mostly done in the wee hours of the morning. Is time running out on him for all the preparations?

Raymond sighed with a great relief said : [Filming is almost completed, and I will have more time for stamina and dance training, everything has been planned out, I will not be too worried about not having enough time to rest. But I am quite worried about not being able to remember the dance steps. I'm fortunate that the company has sent two very good dance instructors, Sunny and Chris, and also the top crews working on the backscene for which I am very grateful to the company for all the arrangements]

Another Side of Raymond
Raymond has earlier revealed that in his concert, he will appear in sexy costumes. He said costumes are merely eye-pleasers. However, Raymond said : [As a singer, the focus should be on the songs at any one concert, the audience comes to listen to our singing. This is my core responsibilities and I really hope that I will be able to meet everyone's expectations].

Mastering singing skills is indeed an important task. Raymond first gained recognition for his good vocal in [Finding You In Loving Memory], ‘Goon Ga Jai’’s heart warming song [Love Without Regret] and others.

Nevertheless, he longs for a breakthrough: [Singing ballads (love songs) is the audience's definitive point of view about me, and this is also the real me. But for this concert, I hope to portray another side of my style that people have not seen, actually, not many people have heard me singing fast/upbeat songs, especially, upbeat songs coupled with fast dance, this would be my very first attempt in a public environment, there might be rap songs as well. I will try everything new as far as I could].

Besides featuring upbeat songs accompanied by sexy dancers in a ‘water tank’ up on stage, Raymond also revealed there would be some elements of fashion show added to it, purely to keep the audience entertained : [I look at this as a fun-filled party, and I hope that there will be all night interactions with the audience. Actually I hope that under a safety-controlled environment, I will be able to get into the midst of the audience and have audience come up on stage to have fun together]

Asked about hanging in mid-air : [I have been hanging in mid-air with the help of wires when filming ancient series, hence I think there should not be much of a problem, but, let’s wait for the arrangements set up by the company.

The guest list has been finalised which include Raymond’s senior, Charlene Choi and Vincy Chan, his junior colleague, Wong Cho Lam and his good old friend, who is very popular now, Laughing Gor (Michael Tse). As for his rumoured girlfriend, Linda Chung, Ms Virginia Lok revealed that the management is trying to have Linda perform a song with Raymond (Sum Ling), but she is still in the midst of filming, hopefully she will have some time off to attend the concert.

Besides, Raymond also said that he has also personally invited a few ’special guests : [ I have rang up a few friends whom I have not worked before and extended my personal invitation to them. They have said yes to it. We will be having an on-stage ’singing jam session’.
