Oneida have always struck me as the kind of band that would be famous in a more perfect world. Case in point: by way of AOL Instant Messenger, I just asked fellow RCRD LBL editor Samuel P. Duke how he felt about Oneida, a question to which he responded, "I've honestly never heard a note of their music." This blows my mind not just because Sam's brain holds about 48 more volumes of information on music than mine does, but because the psychedelic groove-outs that Oneida kick out are easily some of the fiercest chunks of noises streaming out of Brooklyn today and yesterday. DOWNLOAD: Warpaint - Billie Holiday + Elephants

L.A.'s Warpaint make this kind of–and pardon my use of this word for a second–transcendental folk music that wraps you up like a mummy and carries you up a mountain to be buried. Maybe that is why they called their debut EP Exquisite Corpse. I get it! But seriously, the record–mixed by John Frusciante–is sprawling and gorgeous and totally the kind of shit I would play if I lived in a treehouse in the woods and was trying to communicate with the birds outside my window. It also (obviously) sounds beautiful without doing that. "Elephants" and "Billie Holiday" both appear on Exquisite Corpse, which is getting re-released through Manimal Vinyl on October 6th. Now I really want a treehouse.

I got really into Desolation Wilderness' K Records debut last Fall. It was ultra-lush, Olympia-born indie rock that sounded like it had been conceived during underwater French kissing on the floor of the Puget Sound. Those dudes are gearing up to release another excellent full-length in the next couple of weeks and "Boardwalk Theme" is a far hookier if not equally resplendent cut for your sneak previewing pleasure. We are still jamming Michna's Magic Monday on the regular, mainly because it is just that good but also because its arthropod funk never fails to yank the gunk out of our ears in the morning. But it has been awhile, and we are always hungry for seconds, so when his new Eggstra EP for Ghostly snuck up on us this week, we were like, "Dude can read our minds!" Or maybe he is just really good with timing. Bookending the release's five tracks are two entirely new compositions, explained in detail here by the man himself for the gear nerds or just deeply curious. Sandwiched between those are three remixes from Eliot Lipp, Star Eyes & Mayster Liquid, and Osborne, whose stuttering house rework of "Triple Chrome Dipped" is the freebie you'll find below. Since we haven't heard anything to the contrary, we are going to hope Amanda Blank's I Love You album, the one with guest spots from the Cool Kids, Lykke Li, and Santigold and production from Diplo, Switch, XXXChange, and Dave Sitek, is still coming out on July 14th. If it doesn't, at least we'll have this brassy, punkish new one, originally the b-side to "Might Like You Better", to bang in the interim. According to the Fully Fitted guys, song credits go to Ms. Blank, XXXChange, Tyler Pope (!!!/LCD Soundsystem), and Santi. Fingers crossed!

DOWNLOAD: Malcolm Middleton - Don't Want To Sleep Tonight

It is ludicrous to say that "Don't Want To Sleep Tonight" reminds me of LCD Soundsystem's "All My Friends"? Yes? OK, but I can still hear it in the familiar cadence of the verses and in the general miasma of middle-aged confusion drifting across this track. Of course, one difference between Malcolm Middleton and James Murphy is that James Murphy isn't the most unfashionable man in the world, whereas Malcolm... he kind of is. No synths or action here - just the sore, lonely strum of an acoustic guitar. But all of that's OK when you're Malcolm Middleton because the only type of person who you can excuse being this miserable, really, is a miserable Scotsman.

We've heard Cruel Black Dove's surrealist industrial rock in a variety of guises, thanks to the many remixes they've let us premiere over the past year or so. This new one of "Love Song" from Dean Rosenzweig of IAMX–Chris from the Sneaker Pimps' new band–is one of the best, flipping the original vocal into a central phrase and cutting it with boiling low end and BB gun snares. Basically, it's like downtempo Bangladesh. The band plays New York's Mercury Lounge next week, July 16th, alongside The Morning After Girls and Hopewell; before that they'll make an appearance on East Village Radio this Saturday, the 11th, at 4PM.

DOWNLOAD: The Fiery Furnaces - The End Is Near

If this single's anything to go by, then the new Fiery Furnaces CD is gonna weigh about five times less than any you may have held in your palms before. To read into its title, "The End Is Near" seems to indicate a purge of clutter and stuff, brought on perhaps by some twitch of mortality's endlessly blinking eye. Are The Fiery Furnaces ready for death? Let's hope not.
