Pretty Soon

Reagan had a tough day because of some early trouble with Sydney. But after we got that behind us, I tried to focus on just letting her have fun on the skis today. This involved a lot of straight downhill fast! That's her thing. She is getting the hang of it. I really hope to have her on her own this season. But I kind of enjoy getting to spend the time with her as well.

Snack time! Reagan pounded a Hershey bar and an apple juice then made the final run of the day.

She told me that when she is 7, she will ride the lift with Sydney and not need me. OK, I guess. I still have Kayla to train.

Back On Skis

Reagan, Sydney and I went skiing at Ski Cooper today. Its such a great family spot. Reagan had our kid's skis so we had to wait in line forever to get Syd's rentals. I try my best to minimize time from car to first run because it just seems to drain the enthusiasm. Reagan's was going quick. She really wasn't that keen on skiing this season. She always takes a big amount of coaxing to do anything. Then she usually loves it and cries when its time to stop.

This season, I have Reagan wearing a backpack with two tow ropes coming off of it. I hold these and ski 6 feet behind her. This keeps her from flying downhill. I can also turn her right or left to help guide her as she learns the side to side action. It went pretty well.

Unfortunately, I ran over her once as she fell in front of me and I couldn't react fast enough. Now, I ski slightly to one side.

I literally had my hands full all day with Sydney and Reagan and never managed to get an action shot of Reagan. My bad. But she wouldn't let me leave her long enough to get it.

American Girl

Mom and Kayla left early for Fort Wayne this year which meant Dad would be alone with the two big girls until school was out. Could he handle it? Well, I think he remembered to pack everything for school. Dinner was a different restaurant every night. And just because he wants to be the cool Dad he even made time for a special trip to the......American Girl Store!

Now while I had heard of this place before, I didn't know it was such the big deal. Denver added this store to our collection just a short while ago. There were news reports of lines around the building. Luckily Dad went on a school night to avoid the rush. The girls had been seeing ads for the dolls come in the mail and immediately wanted one of there own. What, you hate dolls! Mom would say. Apparently these aren't just any dolls. Score one for Dad. He definitely won the cool Dad award for this one.

Here is Reagan and Molly waiting for their plane to Indiana. Happy to say they made quick best buds.

Caroling with AHG

Today our troop went back to the local retirement community for some caroling and Bingo. This would be Reagan's first year here as a Tenderheart so she was anxious to see what this was all about. We started off with caroling. Not sure that Reagan could read fast enough to keep up with the others but she looked the part.

Next we moved over to the BINGO tables. Reagan was assigned to help this sweet little lady. She would often rub Reagan's back and even let her sit on her lap when she was tired of sitting. A great partner for your first visit.

Happy to say the event was good for Reagan. She never whined once and took her service time seriously. Great job!

Thanksgiving Class Craft

This year I once again have the pleasure of being the first grade craft Mom for Reagan's class. I took this on with Sydney only because no one else would. But, I soon found that I loved it. It is a great way to get to know your kids classmates. And a fun way to spend a little extra time with your kid while at school.

Today was our Thanksgiving craft. This holiday has always been a hard craft find for me and I never like what I end up with. Maybe by the time Kayla hits first grade I'll have his one down. Anyway, this year we made a "thankful" wreath together. I found foam leafs cutouts at Michaels. We glued them together with glue dots and added what we were thankful for. Problem being that after a bit the glue dots lose their stickiness. At least they did for me and Reagan. But, the kids all loved the craft. They all love talking about the ones they are thankful for. So it was still a good time by all.

First Loose Tooth

Reagan has her first loose tooth and the thought of pulling it out has literally got her in tears. No rush right! Well, that was until it became so loose that she bleeds when she eats and it hurts to chew. Dad finally said enough is enough and got out the string. What do you think Reagan thought of this new plan?

Not sure if was the idea or the guinea pig, but the plan was a failure. Happy to say just a couple of days later Mom was allowed to gently pull the tooth out. It had been attached by so little yet somehow hitting a nerve. It finally gave up

Halloween 2011

The favorite holiday of the year is here. And the costume of the year....

Early in the month Reagan had decided she wanted to be Pikachu for Halloween. Pika-Who? I had no idea who this was so it took a little bit of research and a lot of searching to find this get up. Lucky for us we found one hidden in a huge pile of costume cast-offs at our 10th store. This girl was definitely lucky to find this one.

Group shot of the year.

We once again had the Sandoval gang over for pizza and trick or treating. Looks like this is becoming a tradition. I learned that trying to get a group shot of kids who are ready for trick or treating is quite difficult. Not too bad.

Nation's Day

The month of October at our school is dedicated to educating the kids on different cultures. Each class picks a different country and learns everything there is to know about the cultures, geography, etc on their chosen country. This year Reagan would be studying France. This means lots of crescents, grapes, and cheese for snacks. And lots of French paintings for crafts. Here is Reagan's rendition of one famous French painting. The name, not sure? I always knew she was an artist.

On the last day of the month our school would celebrate the Nations with a school wide Nations Day celebration. First thing in the morning we were invited to the class presentations on their various countries. Reagan was all dressed up in her French attire including the beret. Adorable!

The final event of the day would be the Parade of Nations. The kids paraded the school hallways and outside perimeter to show off their costumes. Always a kid fun filled day at our school.

AHG Family Game Night

Tonight was our first annual family game night. Each family was to bring one or two of their favorite games to share. I have to say I wasn't too excited about his event. But, it turned out to be a great night. The kids all had a blast just hanging out with each other. Reagan was all over the place being her usual goofy self. She can be the life of the party if she just lets loose.
