Still no entry for SRK at Wankhede

Shah Rukh Khan might have repeatedly apologised for last year's Wankhede incident, expressing regret even two days ago in Kolkata, but the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) doesn't seem to be in a mood to relent.

The association, instead, wants the Bollywood star and Kolkata Knight Riders' co-owner to apologise to them directly if he wishes to get his ban lifted and watch his team in action at the stadium.

KKR will face Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, the first time the defending champions will be playing at the venue since the infamous incident. An angry Shah Rukh had fought with the security personnel after his young daughter and her friends were stopped from entering the ground following a KKR victory. The MCA imposed a five-year ban on the actor. "The apology has not been addressed to the MCA directly. If he comes directly to the MCA, then we can consider his apology," its president Ravi Sawant told HT. Even if Shah Rukh does apologise, he is unlikely to be allowed entry for Tuesday's match. "He was banned by the MCA managing committee and any decision to overturn the ban can only be taken by it, which seems unlikely given that the match is scheduled on Tuesday," said MCA sources.

While expressing regret, Shah Rukh had jokingly said he might resort to wearing a mask to hoodwink the stadium authorities. But he later said he will not take any chances and instead stand outside the stadium and cheer his team. The cricket Board has made attempts to bring about an amicable solution but MCA sources said no one from the parent body has met the association office-bearers so far.

Why Aamir want YRF to stop making 'Dhoom' Sequels?

What Aamir Khan wants, he usually gets. According to sources, Aamir Khan insisted on a special clause in his contract for the film, Dhoom 3 with Yash Raj Films.

The clause was that the production company will not make any more films with Dhoom franchisee after Dhoom 3. It may be recalled that the big hit of YRF's stable Dhoom, inspired the film makers to make a franchisee of the film.

Aamir is doing the bad man's role, earlier played by John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan in Dhoom and Dhoom 2 respectively. But Khan apparently wishes this to be the last of the Dhooms.

And according to sources, YRF has agreed to this difficult condition. The spokesperson from YRF however maintains that there is no such clause. `The Dhoom franchise will go on,` he says.

Along with Aamir, Dhoom 3 stars Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra. Aamir remained unavailable for comment.

Dhoom released in 2004 and Dhoom 2 in 2006. Dhoom 3 is expected to release on the Christmas day this year.

A day after 'fight', Shah Rukh, Shirish call truce

All's well that ends well. Shah Rukh Khan and Shirish Kunder called a truce Tuesday, a day after they were embroiled in a scuffle at a party. Shirish said their friendship has become stronger than ever now.

"Sajid Nadiadwala and Sajid Khan were the mediators and had arranged a meeting. Whatever issues we had, we kept before each other and the misunderstanding has been solved. Things are sorted out now and our friendship is renewed," Shirish told IANS, after the patch-up.

Shirish along with his wife Farah Khan, brother-in-law Sajid Khan and producer Sajid Nadiadwala had arranged the meeting at Shah Rukh's house Mannat.

"It was a mutual thing and was not about saying sorry to each other. Since I am younger I can't expect Shah Rukh to say sorry. We kept our egos aside and were gracious enough about it. Being the younger, I should have not reacted like this. Our relationship has become stronger like never before. Everything that was said has been cleared face to face now," he added.

Shah Rukh is alleged to have hit Shirish at a bash organised by Sanjay Dutt to celebrate the success of Agneepath. The fight is said to have taken place at a popular club in the early hours Monday.

Farah, who was the first one to speak about the incident, is also happy that things are sorted out.

"It was really ugly what has been happening since yesterday. It was getting blown out of proportion. With all kind of different rumours and stories, it was just too much of negativity to handle. I thank Sajid Nadiadwala and my brother Sajid Khan that they took the initiative and we met up," she told the media.

"It is not pleasant episode to have happened. Things were going out of hand, everyone wanted to take sides and Shah Rukh, Gauri, Shirish and me were the ones who were getting affected directly by what was happening," she added.

"Fights happen in every family and you have to sort it out and ours is now finally sorted. What we spoke is a very personal thing but everything is sorted and all the people who were getting entertained by this, just want to say 'sorry', as they won't be getting entertained anymore," she added.

Veena Malik assaults Vedita: She banged my head on the rod

A co-star has accused the controversial Veena Malik of purposely injuring her during a fight sequence for the film 'Mumbai 125'.

Malik was reportedly not on good terms with co-actress Vedita Pratap, who is learnt to have been injured on her forehead as a result of the scene.

According to sources, the Pakistani actress had to pull Pratap by the neck and bang her head on an iron rod in a scene but it got too far. The director, Hemant Madhukar, had to be called in as the furious actress said that Malik had intentionally hurt her.

She was reportedly nursed at a city hospital and is said to be currently undergoing treatment to get rid of the scar on her forehead. Pratap confirmed the incident and accused Malik of 'over acting'.

"It was an action sequence. I was supposed to be beaten up. I don't know what happened to Veena. She actually hurt me and she did it so badly that I had nail marks on my body.

I don't know what was wrong with her. And then she pushed me so badly and banged my head on the rod," the Mumbai Mirror quoted her as saying.

"After the incident, I spoke to the director and told him that she is deliberately doing this. Acting is one thing, but this is just over acting," she said.

When asked asked if there was any enmity between the two of them, Pratap said that Malik must be 'insecure'.

"I don't know. I think somewhere she is just insecure or just waited for the opportunity to do something like this to me. As a result of the injury, I have marks on my forehead, which I have to undergo treatment to get rid off," she said.

Rajni back in action

South star Rajnikanth, who had been in and out of hospitals for a greater part of last year, has now been given a clean chit by his doctors. This has paved the way for him to don his daredevil mantle all over again. As a result, Rajni has decided to perform the stunts himself in daughter Soundarya's Kochadaiyyan.

Earlier it had been decided to simulate the stunts through a cinematic device known as the performance-capturing technique. Given his health scare, the doctors had advised Rajni against physical exertion. But the star had put his foot down arguing that no computer would do the acting for him.

Producer Murli Manohar confirms, "Rajniji is fine now and in perfect physical condition. He will be performing a lot of his own stunts now but the performance-capturing technique will also be used."

No cheating A source adds, "Soundarya is opposed to the idea. But Rajniji doesn't want to cheat his audiences. He says he feels better than ever before."

The star will perform several stunts including those on horsebak. The source also informs, "Since we can't stop Rajniji, there will be health and action experts to ensure he doesn't get carried away and overdo the stunts."

SRK ‘punches’ Farah husband

Actor Shah Rukh was allegedly involved in a brawl with filmmaker Shirish Kunder early Monday morning at a party thrown by Sanjay Dutt to celebrate the success of his film Agneepath. Upset over snide remarks made by Kunder, the husband of choreographer-director Farah Khan, over his film Ra.One, Shah Rukh reportedly punched Kunder.

While there was speculation that Kunder may file a police complaint, he tweeted that he wouldn’t be doing so. Shah Rukh’s spokesperson was unavailable for comment.

Close friends for almost 20 years, Farah and Shah Rukh are believed to have fallen out in recent times. Farah, who was not present at the party, said: “Shah Rukh has always told me that physical abuse is the worst way to sort out a problem, and that it means the person who’s hitting has either a personal or professional crisis. So it saddens me to see him doing the same.”

The brawl allegedly took place at Aurus in Juhu around 3 am, when Shah Rukh arrived after hosting an awards night. According to sources, he was overheard telling guests about a wonderful 2011 he had had. To which, Kunder reportedly passed snide remarks.

She couldn't have made her intentions about India clearer if she'd sent us a letter declaring that she was coming to the country. And if we've interpreted all her recent quotes on India correctly, it's only work (and lot's of it) that Kim's seeking. Over the past several months, the American reality TV star has been working relentlessly to woo the country's (especially Bollywood's) attention, and in the process, she's expressed her love for everything Indian, fashion and films included.

The preparation started a few months ago, when Kim first tweeted that her friend Sheeraz Hasan of sheeraz.inc had given her a few Shah Rukh Khan movies to watch. At that point, Sheeraz had told DT that Kim's "very interested in doing a Bollywood film", and over the last 12 months, she'd been approached by various Bollywood producers to do a dance number in a few films. And voila, soon enough, we heard the actress say in an interview that she's a "big fan of Bollywood".

While an item number is one of the things she's considering, the recently-divorced actress is more keen to do a movie starring one of the two Khans - Salman or Shah Rukh. Sheeraz had revealed this to us, saying, "She really wants to get into a Bollywood movie now. She asked me for names of people that she could debut with and there can be no one besides Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan."

Of course, fashion is equally important (and might we say, lucrative?). Kim said that her brother Adrienne had been to India a couple of years ago and "he said that it's the most beautiful place ever". And then, at Indian-American hotelier Vikram Chatwal's 40th birthday bash in New York, she spoke (again!) about why (another reason!) she wants to come to India, when she said, "I'd love to go to India... I'd love to just go there and see for myself, and get inspired, and get some traditional clothes from there... I love all the colours (in Indian culture), love the gold, bangles, which are really popular in the US right now."

And to make sure that she finds her way into the country much before her contemporaries, she has entrusted her friend Sheeraz to chart the route for her. He told us, "Kim's launched Millions of Milkshakes in Dubai, and the next destination inshallah will be Bombay, possibly early next year. There is a very big group in India, which has asked me to bring the milkshake bar to India. So, we are trying to make sure that we can bring Kim for the launch of this next year. We'll be looking at creating the Kim Kardashian Bollywood shake now." Well, if that's what she'll come for, we know the headline that'll go with it - Shake it, baby!

The reports that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is returning to cinema with a film by Sanjay Leela Bhansali has everyone around the two concerned families baffled.

The buzz is that Ash will return to films at least after a year.

The rumour was that SLB plans to cast his 'Paro' from Dedvdas as Mastani and that too with Shah Rukh Khan playing Bajirao.

Says a source, "SLB and Shah Rukh have spoken about a role. But it is certainly not Bajirao.

As for Aishwarya it would be quite a while, at least a year before she even contemplates returning to movies."

This, feel sources close to the project is nothing but an attempt to provoke Salman Khan who was the original choice for the role of Bajirao.

Says the source, "In 2002, Sanjay Bhansali was all set to start his most ambitious project Bajirao Mastani with Salman and Aishwarya in the lead.

When she decided not to work with him, Sanjay signed Kareena Kapoor opposite Salman. SRK was never considered for Bajirao's part."

According to sources close to Aishwarya and SLB, apparently baseless reports of SRK stepping into Sallu's role are being planted as a part of a game of one-upmanship between the two warring Khans.

Veena Malik now accused of copying Katrina Kaif's look

Veena Malik has again landed in the middle of a controversy, this time for "ripping-off" Katrina Kaif's look in a new film. After turning down a number of Bollywood roles, the Pakistani actress agreed to dance in an item song titled The Item Bomb Channo.

But critics believe her look is almost identical to that of British Indian actress Katrina Kaif's latest release Chikni Chameli.

Stills from the new film have been dubbed 'uncomfortably reminiscent' of the first-look photos from Kaif's Agneepath by India Today, the Mirror reported.

Critics have speculated that the similarities in dress, hair, makeup and setting are a PR ploy to generate further coverage after the star's FHM nude photoshoot row. But Malik claims the fact that Channo was 'different' is what persuaded her to agree to the film, which is set for release on February 3.

"From styling and the set up, to the tune and choreography, everything in this item number is different," she was quoted as saying. "That is why I choose to do this item song," she said.

Aside from the sizzling costume, the actress also sports a Nathani, a Pakistani nose ring, which was added to her look by her own request.

"Nathani is a very important ornament in Pakistan and it gives a very beautiful look," she said. "So on my request we added it to my look, which is looking stunning," she added.

Mallika excited at playing Haryanvi in film

Bollywood's export to Hollywood, Mallika Sherawat, is excited about starting work on her next Hindi film Kismat Love Paisa Dilli, which has her playing a Haryanvi girl for the first time.

The actress, who was born in Rohtak to a Jat family, is back from Los Angeles to shoot for the film, opposite Vivek Oberoi.

"Being a part of the movie means a lot to me. For the first time, I am playing a north Indian character, a Haryanvi," the actress said on arrival at Mumbai airport Thursday.

The Murder girl was happy to see that members of the cast and crew of the film had come to receive her.

"My entire cast is here. What better welcome than this. It's such a pleasant surprise. I had never imagined that I will get such a surprise," said Mallika who recently featured in a Hollywood film titled Politics Of Love.

Reportedly, Mallika wants producer Sanjay Khanduri to wrap up the shoot in three months as she has commitments in Hollywood. Her last Bollywood film was Double Dhamaal.

Evergreen Dev Anand no more

Bollywood’s evergreen romantic star Dev Anand, who enchanted fans across generations as debonair hero in a career spanning 65 years, passed away in London following a massive cardiac arrest. He was 88.

The actor, who was not keeping well for the last few days, was in London for a medical check-up. The end came when he was asleep in his hotel room around 3:30 am with his son Suneil by his side. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Dev Anand is survived by his wife former actress Kalpana Karthik, son Suneil and a daughter, Devina. Kalpana and Devina will be flying to London for the last rites slated to be held on Tuesday or Wednesday.

The versatile actor-filmmaker with an indefatigable spirit gave classic hits like “Guide” outlived many of his contemporaries. For his outstanding contribution to cinema, he was honoured with Padma Bhushan in 2001 and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award in 2002.

Born in Narowal district in Punjab, Dharamdev Pishorimal Anand was the son of a well-known advocate. He graduated from Lahore in English literature and came to Mumbai in 1940. He joined the Indian People’s Theatre in which his elder brother and filmmaker Chetan Anand was a member.

Dev Anand began his career in the black and white era with “Hum Ek Hain” in 1946 and with his signature puffed hair and unique style of dialogue delivery left an indelible mark on his fans. By the time “Ziddi” was released in 1947, he was a superstar and never looked back.

He also had an intense relationship with the then top reigning singer-actress Suraiya. However, marriage plans went awry when Suraiya’s grandmother rejected the proposal.
Dev Anand launched his production house Navketan International Films in 1949 and produced more than 35 movies. In the 60s and early 70s, Navketan churned out films like “Tere Ghar Ke Samne”, “Guide”, an adaptation of R K Narayan’s novel in collaboration with Nobel laureate Pearl S Buck, and “Jewel Thief”.

In mid-70s, Dev Anand He made his directorial debut with “Prem Pujari.” He made thought-provoking social films like “Hare Rama Hare Krishna” and “Des Pardes.”
It was also during this era that he gave break to young stars like Zeenat Aman, Tina Munim and others.

In his 65-year-long career, unlike his contemporaries Raj Kapoor who by 70s turned into film direction, and Dilip Kumar, who had started playing character roles, Dev Anand kept on running round the trees wooing heroines even 30 years junior to him, earning the sobriquet “evergreen romantic hero.” Dev Anand’s latest film “Charge-sheet” was released this year.

Veena Malik's 'nude-picture' evokes mixed reaction

Humour and anger were available in fair measure across Pakistan as reports reached here about actor Veena Malik reportedly posing nude for the cover of an Indian magazine.

Though the cover has been the buzz on social networking sites since Friday afternoon, the local media was slow to pick up the story and even then the ‘ghairat brigade' (honour brigade) was not out in strength with daggers drawn.

Given that her previous appearance on Indian television's Big Boss season had got her into trouble back home, many found it difficult to believe the cover picture was real. It must have been morphed seemed to be the general belief and so when her public relations manager claimed that the photographs were not hers, many bought that version. In fact, the dominant sentiment was that if the photograph was hers, then Ms. Malik probably had no intention of returning to Pakistan, knowing full well that there would be a lynch mob waiting for her. Worse still, was the fact that the bare-all photograph has ISI tattooed on her arm.

In an interview to Geo News, Ms. Malik said she had done a bold shoot for FHM magazine but it was not a nude shoot. As for the ISI tattoo on her arm, she said it was the magazine editor's idea to take a dig at the general Indian tendency to blame everything that goes wrong in India on the ISI. Maintaining that she would take recourse to legal action as her photographs had been doctored, Ms. Malik said she was well aware of her limitations and had never in her life done a nude shoot. Meanwhile, the magazine's website on Saturday changed the cover of the December edition though it still featured her in a different pose. This time, the “Pakistani WMD'' — as the magazine chose to call her — is caught in the act of pulling the pin out of a grenade.

And, once again Twitter was abuzz with some among Pakistan's tweeting community expressing disgust, the liberal lot saluting her for the courage in doing what she wanted, and others making light of it with sarcasm. Commenting on the latest FHM cover, one tweeter said “Veena Malik would make a terrible ISI agent considering how much she reveals” while another wondered if cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf would invite her to the party fold now that she had revealed all her assets.

Too 'Dirty' for Pakistan?

The Pakistan Censor Board has refused to clear the movie for release in their country. Earlier this year, Delhi Belly too was not cleared for a release there.

It is learnt that after receiving a clearance by the Indian Central Board of Film Certication (CBFC), the Milan Luthria directed film, apparently based on South siren Silk Smitha, was submitted to the Censor Board of Pakistan for censorship.

"However, they rejected the application saying it is not suitable for theatrical release in Pakistan, " reveals our source, adding, "They deemed the movie inappropriate for viewership in Pakistan, due to its bold and controversial content."

Our informer points out that this refusal is coming at a time when cinema in Pakistan is not doing too well. "It's strange that the Pakistan Censor Board is refusing censorship of the film because after its release, the authorities won't do anything to control the piracy of its DVDs, " sighed our source.

Expressing disappointment at the decision, our source further laments, "This coincides with the time when the distribution and exhibition sector in Pakistan is getting a boost only due to Bollywood. So it's all the more ironical on part of the board to take such a harsh stance, " he reiterates.

Tanuj Garg, CEO of producer Ekta Kapoor's company confirmed the news, saying, "Yes, our overseas distributor informed us that Pakistan Censor Board deemed the movie unsuitable for theatrical exhibition.

Unfortunately, the audience in that country will not have a legitimate means of viewing the film which is sad given the huge buzz there for the film."

Farhan Akhtar wants to work with Salman Khan

After working with Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar says he is keen to work with his childhood friend Salman Khan.

The 37-year-old knows Salman from his childhood days, thanks to their fathers, the scriptwriter duo Salim-Javed.

"Salman and I have spent a lot of time together and we were really good friends. He was really supportive and caring towards me and Zoya just like he was towards his own brothers," said Farhan in the capital Saturday, attending the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit.

"We have spoken on many occasions to get Salim and Javed back. We have spoken about doing a film together too. It would be great if we do it. I will be all in for it. I really want to do something with him," he added.

Farhan, who is all set for his next project " Don 2" to hit the screens Dec 23, also reveals his parents have never pressurised him and have always been supportive.

"My parents have never pressurised me or Zoya. They have never poked any of us, saying your treatment is not correct or anything. They are happy that we have independently made a name for ourselves and are passionate about our work," he said.

Farhan, who has directed films like " Dil Chahta Hai", "Lakshya" and "Don" franchise, admits one should never take audience for granted.

"The most important lesson I have learnt being in the industry is that one should never take the audience for granted. People need to do their work by telling the story and not think and assume that our audience is intelligent enough to understand the details. It is the effort that needs to be made to be accepted and recognised," he said.

Saif-Kareena marriage date announced!

What seemed to be a speculation sometimes back has been confirmed now. The much acclaimed couple of Bollywood, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor, will tie the knot in March next year.

The actor's sister, Soha Ali Khan, happened to incidentally reveal the news to the paparazzi when she was in the Capital recently to walk the ramp for the Blender's Pride Tour.

In the past, Saif had announced that the couple would marry early next year in 2012 but month and the date were never confirmed.

"They have been together for quite some time now and their relationship has grown. I can hardly wait for the wedding next year. There will be a number of functions and I am very excited about what to wear," she told media.

On the other hand, she refused to comment anything about her relationship and marriage with Kunal Khemu.

Reportedly, it is believed that famous designer Ritu Kumar is designing Kareena's outfit for the D-Day while the wedding ring has already been purchased by the actor.

However, Saif, who recently assumed the title of tenth Nawab of Pataudi, is busy with his home production AGENT VINOD and wishes to talk about much awaited wedding next year only.

This will be actor's second marriage after his first one with actress Amrita Singh, with whom he has two children, ended in 2004.

Interestingly, even for Kareena, this is her second relationship after she dated actor Shahid Kapoor for three years.

Shiney Ahuja hopes to shine again after Ghost

After wading through troubled times, actor Shiney Ahuja is back in fray with his latest film Ghost and says that his new film has some similarity with his horror-thriller Bhool Bhulaiyaa.

"The story of Ghost is totally different from Bhool Bhulaiyaa but in a way it is a similar film. Although it's a horror film, it's a very good love story. Bhool Bhulaiyaa had a thriller element but it was essentially a love story. Similarly, this is a very nice love story," Shiney said here at a party held for Ghost.

Shiney's career hit a rough patch when in 2009 his maid accused him of raping her. On March 30, 2011, Shiney was sentenced to seven years in prison. He is currently out on bail.

Now the 37-year-old has his hopes pinned on Ghost to resurrect his career. He has teamed up with Sayali Bhagat in the film, which releases Dec 16.

"Only god knows what will happen after this film. But I hope that from spotboys to producers, all those who have worked on this film would be benefited," Shiney said.

His career was on the right track after a promising debut with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2005 for which he also bagged the Filmfare Award for best male debut.

Then he was seen in Gangster - A Love Story, Woh Lamhe, Life in a...Metro, and Khoya Khoya Chand.

Shiney is also part of Jahnu Barua's Har Pal, which features Preity Zinta, Issha Koppikar and Dharmendra, but the film has been in a limbo ever since the actor's rape trial started. It went on floors in 2007, but is yet to see the light of the day.

'Kahaani' to turn around Vidya's new found image

However it may just be a momentary phase in her career as the actress in her is all set to give audience something that they truly associate with the actress. Her 'Kahaani' is the next to arrive and those who have had a dekko at it claim that Vidya has come up with her most stunning act till date.

"Yeah, it's her 'The Dirty Picture' which has hogged all the limelight for last few months. However the film which would really bring out the kind of intensity that Vidya is famous for is 'Kahaani'," says a source, "A few industry insiders who have seen portions of the film claim that this is her most bravura performance till date. Though sex and erotica are the selling points of her newest release, for those who were wondering where had Vidya of 'Parineeta' and 'Paa' gone, the answer would in the form of 'Kahaani'."

In the film, Vidya plays the role of a pregnant woman searching for her husband. A dramatic thriller, it is also a new genre being explored by the 'Jhankaar Beats' director Sujoy Ghosh.

Says a trade source, "Once the euphoria around 'The Dirty Picture' settles down, Vidya would begin talking about 'Kahaani' which shows her in an altogether different light. In fact bets are already out that not just is it an award worthy performance, it is also a strong contender for National Awards."
