Metallica has issued the following statement about the "Big Four" show in Bulgaria being released on DVD:
"From Bulgaria to your local theatre to your living room or wherever you might enjoy a little live metal on the screen. You may have heard us say something about a DVD at the end of the satellite broadcast or read it in the internet rumor mill. it's true, there will be a DVD release of the Big 4 show from Sofia, Bulgaria!! We had such an awesome time hanging with Anthrax, Megadeth and Slayer and the cameras were already rolling, so why not?".

Here's the scoop:
The DVD hits the streets on October 15 in Northern Europe, October 18 in most of the rest of the world, October 19 in North America and the full shows from all four bands will be included in the two disc set along with behind the scenes and interview footage. In addition to the two DVD set and the corresponding Blu-ray, there will be a limited edition 'super deluxe' box set including the DVD set, five CD's with ALL the music, a 24 page booklet, a poster, photos of each band, and a Big 4 guitar pick. The clever title of the DVD is 'The Big 4 Live From Sofia, Bulgaria' (yes, that's really it!!) and you if you're interested in the box set, we'll have a pre-order in the Metallica Store for you shortly."

Nergal BEHEMOTH Still Hates Christianity?

Issuing his first statements since the announcement that he has leukemia, Behemoth frontman Nergal had a lot to say. First off, he thanked all his fans for the outpouring of support. He then mentioned that Behemoth will be back on the road as soon as he is done with his treatments. Then, he had a few choice words for people who were saying he should now turn to Christianity due to his ailment. Yet another reason why Nergal is the man:

Finally, I want to comment on some opinions which, provoked by religious circles, lead to far-fetched and inaccurate interpretations. I was surprised to hear my illness became a pretext for some people to embark on their own crusade. Opinions suggesting I might come closer to God or abandon my ideals and grovel to the only correct world view in this country not only surprised but also frightened me. This is a typical example of supporting one's own views by preying on someone's misfortune. 'He fell ill so he will convert to Christianity, he will discover the religion he fought against is actually close to him.' Halt! Why should the illness change my point of view? It is true this is a difficult time for me and the thoughts of ultimate matters are hard to chase away.

But the idea that I will change my opinions, priorities, and values as a consequence of my illness sounds as if someone regards my head, and not my body, ill. Suggesting I might convert are ridiculous. To what would I convert? After all, I know Christian mythology pretty well, not only in its literary version, and I find nothing good, creative or beautiful in it. I read books better and wiser than the Bible. War, blood, blackmail, rapes, incest, pedophilia, zoophilia, collaboration and treachery – each page emanates with evil. Some may say I don't understand the message of the Bible. I'd rather say the Christianity is nothing more than a rusty and archaic structure that is going to fall down any moment. It lasts only because of the gullible that follow the shepherd blindly; without any questions, without any consideration, not to any promised land, but to an intellectual slaughter. So, I say to those, who see some chances to break my rules, and myself because of the illness: over my dead body! [Real Music Monster]

New MADBALL Song

Madball was founded in 1988 and featured most of Agnostic Front's members. Madball consisted of Agnostic Front's vocalist Roger Miret on bass, Vinnie Stigma on guitar, Will Shepler on drums, and vocalist Freddy Cricien, Roger Miret's younger brother. Madball's first few gigs consisted of un-used Agnostic Front songs. Madball's first release was the Ball of Destruction EP in 1989. After years of playing regional shows in and around the New York area, a second guitarist, Matt Henderson, would join the band. By then, they recorded and released the EP Droppin' Many Suckers for Wreckage Records. One year later Roger Miret left the band, and was replaced by bassist Hoya Roc — a good friend of Freddy Cricien — who was looking for a new band as his band, Dmize, was breaking up. The new incarnation of the band was signed by Roadrunner Records in 1994 and released a pair of full-lengths; Set It Off in 1994 and Demonstrating My Style in 1996. Touring steadily, the band built a sizeable fan base outside their hometown.

1995 saw the band participating in the N.Y.H.C. Documentary. Extensive interviews were conducted with Freddy as well as a performance on July 29, 1995 at the now defunct "Coney Island High". Freddy's brother, Roger, broke several vertebrae in his back at that show, requiring him to be in traction for the better part of a year.

Consisting of Cricien, Henderson, Hoya, and new drummer John Lafatta, the band recorded Look My Way, which was released in early 1998. Hold It Down followed two years later. The band briefly broke up from early 2001 until late 2002. The current lineup of Freddy Cricien, Hoya Roc, Mitts (ex-Skarhead), and Rigg Ross (ex-Hatebreed) began touring and recording at the end of 2002. Since then, Madball has come out with: Best of Madball in 2003, NYHC EP (EP) in 2004, Legacy in 2005, and Infiltrate The System in 2007. In 2009, Rigg Ross left to join Skarhead and was replaced by ex-Throwdown Ben Dussault. In December 2009, Freddy Cricien announced that the band was currently working on their new album, scheduled for a 2010 release.

Along with bands such as Agnostic Front, Vietnom, Bulldoze, Resistance and H2O, they comprise a part of New York's DMS Crew. Vocalist Cricien and bass player Hoya are also in the band Hazen Street, along with members of H2O and Cro-Mags.

In February 2010 Madball signed a deal with Nuclear Blast for the European release of their new studio album. Jay Weinberg, son of E Street Band and Max Weinberg 7 drummer Max Weinberg, joined Madball for the album and for touring.

Madball are my Motorhead. Having released a fair share of classic, genre-defining albums, they don’t have to prove shit to anyone anymore. They don’t have to reinvent their sound or jump on bandwagons. Their metallic strain of the NYHC sound has made them a legacy act worth revering, and the albums they’ve released this century so far prove that that the quartet haven’t softened with age or via lineup changes.

“Real American Hardcore”, the track comes from their forth coming album Empire. The lyrics are pretty fucking great, with the first verse dripping with sarcasm about those who bash/dismiss/disregard the hardcore community and the second curb stomping those same haters into submission. It’s fucking tough-as-nails, and you can hear it at the band’s MySpace page.

Though we have to wait until October 12 for Empire, Good Fight Entertainment has a number of pre-order options worth checking out, including bundles featuring a t-shirt and a copy of their R.A.H.C. 7″ single. It’s one of my most anticipated albums of 2010 — if not the most. Canadians will likely get to hear some of these tracks when the band hits the road in September with Comeback Kid, whose new album drops on Tuesday.

Pantera Cowboys Deluxe

Pantera was an American heavy metal band from Arlington, Texas, formed by the Abbott brothers, Vinnie Paul (drums) and Dimebag Darrell (guitar) in 1981. Bassist Rex Brown would join in late 1981 with vocalist Terry Glaze. In 1987 Phil Anselmo would become the group's lead vocalist. After disbanding in 2003, any hope of a reunion was lost in 2004, when Dimebag Darrell was shot and killed on-stage at the Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio on December 8 while performing with Damageplan.

We knew this stuff was out there, waiting patiently for years to hear it. But the day we finally get to hear an unreleased Pantera kick ass track is almost upon us, and it will be this coming on August 30th. Yeaahhh... that's rock!!!

Pantera will be releasing a special 20th anniversary edition of their landmark album — and my favorite of theirs – Cowboys From Hell on September 14th, and from what I can tell from poking around Amazon (Pantera’s website doesn’t make it easy to find out… nice work, guys), two of the three configurations they’ll be releasing will have a song called “The Will to Survive” that was recorded during the original Cowboys From Hell tracking sessions. Configuration 1 is a 2-disc set with the re-mastered Cowboys on Disc 1 and a bunch of live tracks on Disc 2, Configuration 2 adds a third disc that contains “The Will To Survive” and some of the original Cowboys demo tracks, and Configuration 3 contains all 3 discs bundled up in a super-dookie box set (which won’t come out until November). Whew, why they gotta make it all complicated?ANYWAY, MS reader “shitsandwich” sent us a link to an announcement on Pantera’s Facebook page saying that “The Will to Survive” will premiere right there on Pantera’s FB page at Noon EST on Monday, August 30th. Naturally we’ll be all over that and we’ll let you know what we think of it.

MetalSucks sent over an excerpt from Dave Mustaine's new autobiography "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir". The excerpt is where Mustaine discussed the punch that led to Metallica firing him. The excerpt: The actual fight didn't happen right there. They call it a hang fire, like when there's an unexpected delay between the trigger of a gun being pulled and the actual discharge of the weapon. You know it's coming, and there's no stopping it. It's just a matter of time. James and I alternately cursed at each other and refused to speak, until eventually we were both in Ron's house, preparing to rehearse, and tensions boiled over. There was another round of accusations and insults, more cursing, more threats. "You keep talking like that, I'm going to punch you in the mouth," I said. "Fuck off!"

In the middle of this exchange, Ron walked out of the bathroom and into the living room. He and James went way back, and despite the fact that James often treated him like sh*t, Ron instinctively defended his friend. "You hit him, you'll have to hit me first."

"Shut up and sit the fuck down" I said. And then James jumped to Ron's defense. "You touch him, you're going to have to hit me first."

Jesus, I thought, what is this, some kind of fucking game show? I realized I would have to make a decision. "Okay, you win," I said, and with that I threw a right cross that landed flush against James's face, turning his mouth into a pile of bloody Chiclets.

Elgin James founder of Friends Stand United gang

History
Elgin James was the founder of the Friends Stand United crew, also known as FSU (which originally stood for "fuck shit up"). Elgin James is a filmmaker and a musician. During the late 1980s in Boston, Massachusetts, Elgin disagreed with the nationalist, right-wing, third movement, and conservative working class political direction of the punk rock and hard core music movement. He formed Friends Stand United to attack, beat, and purge from concerts groups which he disagreed with politically, especially white power skinheads and other various racist gangs. Friends Stand United's initial mission was to use violence to cleanse the punk community of gangs with racist beliefs and take over the punk rock community.

Early life
After a short time in orphanages and foster homes, Elgin James (who is of mixed race) was raised by civil rights activists on a rural farm in the Northeast. With a crop of marijuana in the backyard and alcohol and drug abuse in the house, Elgin formed strong anti-drinking and anti-drug beliefs which would later lead him to be a pivotal figure in the 1990s militant straight edge movement within the punk scene.

Elgin discovered punk rock through an older foster brother and saw shows of seminal hardcore punk bands Black Flag, Agnostic Front and Millions of Dead Cops. He was arrested for the first time at age twelve, and by fourteen he would end up in juvenile hall. There, he rejected the pacifist beliefs of his parents (who had marched with Rev. Martin Luther King and the Freedom Riders movement), and began studying the writings of Malcolm X, Stokely Carmichael and Huey P. Newton fusing them with aggressive punk ideals.

Elgin left juvenile hall, and inspired by civil rights attorneys William Kunstler and Morris Dees, left for Antioch College at age seventeen to study pre-law. During a break in his first semester he was involved in a gang fight and beaten in the back of the head with a baseball bat which left him with left hemispheric brain damage. He could not speak or move the right side of his body. After intensive physical and speech therapy he eventually recovered his speech and motor skills. But he ended up homeless living on the streets and in squats across the country. Eventually he settled in Boston, Massachusetts.

Initial activity focused on the Boston punk community and often led to gang violence. Friends Stand United has established chapters in many major cities inside the United States and Canada. Elgin currently denies involvement with the gang, however he was arrested on July 14, 2009 on extortion charges relating to his affiliation with the gang five years prior. The gang has splintered several times since its initial incarnation, with different chapters holding different values. Universally, the gang espouses violence as a valid means to accomplish their goals. Many East Coast hardcore bands, especially those in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Massachusetts, openly endorse FSU's lifestyle and/or beliefs.

FSU
In Boston he began singing for hardcore punk band Wrecking Crew and befriended a multi-racial group of kids from the tough areas of Boston and Brockton. They started FSU (originally 'Fuck Shit Up', however it came to be known as 'Friends Stand United' or 'Forever Stand United'). They formed to fight back against the influx of Neo Nazi skinhead gangs in the area.

Having successfully eliminated several Nazi groups; Elgin turned his attention to drug dealers. He eschewed the usual passive ideals of straight edge and instead went, in his own words “right after the heart of the enemy, money”. He would rob drug dealers and then give half of that money to local charities.

Elgin had become a vegetarian or vegan at age eleven after watching the animals he raised on the farm slaughtered. While part of FSU he used a tactic learned from the United States Government, with he and other FSU members setting up an "arms for hostages" scenario in which they traded handguns with inner city gang members in exchange for pit bulls used in dog fighting rings. The dogs would then be nursed back to health and fostered until safe homes were found for them.

The founding core of FSU would eventually splinter with a large section moving on to motorcycle gangs including the Outlaws. The split was amicable, but Elgin and other founding members decided to leave a more positive legacy and steer FSU away from the criminal world. They established the "Foundation Fund" which set up scholarships at local universities (Berklee College of Music and Suffolk University Law School) in the names of FSU members who had died. The Foundation Fund also holds yearly benefit concerts to raise money for charities that reflect "hardcore punk culture" (teen homelessness, anti-handgun violence, suicide prevention and local orphanages).

Elgin and FSU were featured in profiles on National Geographic, the History Channel's Gangland Series and in a feature article in Rolling Stone.

Music and film career
After years spent playing in mostly straight edge hardcore bands, Elgin began experimenting with country influenced solo work that has been critically acclaimed and described as "Hooligan Folk" by the Boston Phoenix and "Folk-Punk" by Wonkavision magazine.

In 2006 Elgin moved to Los Angeles, California to work as a filmmaker. He wrote and directed the short film Goodnight Moon starring Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, which was released by THINKFilm. In December 2008 he was announced as a fellow for the Sundance Screenwriters lab, whose alumni include Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson, Alison Anders, and Darren Aronofsky.

Arrest
James was arrested by the FBI in Los Angeles, California on July 14, 2009 stemming from an incident four years earlier. He was charged with a criminal complaint of federal attempted extortion filed in Chicago. It is alleged that in 2005 James sanctioned an attack on an individual who had past personal ties to White Power politics. James is then reported as to have said that the man could avoid further trouble if he made a $5,000 “donation” to FSU. After that incident, the FBI became involved, and after another attack, the victim scheduled a meeting with James to give the $5,000 while the FBI had surveillance on the encounter. The individual has been revealed to be a member of the band Mest. Speculation has been raised that lead singer Tony Lovato's past ties to white power groups, were the reason why they were targeted, given FSU's anti-racist stance. However the exact Mest member that was targeted has yet to be revealed.

NOFX - The Longest EP Album

NOFX, who does not know the legendary punk band in San Francisco, California which until now still doing the World Tour is everywhere. Band formed in 1983 with the formation of Fat Mike (vocals), El Hefe (guitar, vocals), Eric Melvin (guitar) and Erik Sandin (drums). The band have released 20 eps, 18 full length albums and two DVD is capable of providing exceptional contribution to punk music lovers around the world in terms of music, attitude and fashion.

The band has appeared in Indonesia in 2007 and in Jakarta and Bali. Unfortunately if you missed the concert. But do not be sad, you can view a video documentary of their journey in concert and DVD release titled The Backstage Passport (2009).

Dead Kennedys

Dead Kennedys are an American punk rock band, formed in San Francisco, California in 1978. Pioneers of hardcore during the 1980s, the band gained a large underground following in the international punk music scene. Their music mixed the more experimental elements of British 1970s punk with the raw energy of the 1980s American hardcore punk scene. Dead Kennedys' songs mixed deliberately shocking lyrics with satirical and sarcastic criticism of social and political issues of the Reagan era.

In the late 1980s, the band was embroiled in an obscenity trial in the US over the artwork of their 1985 album, Frankenchrist, which included the explicit titular subject of H. R. Giger's Penis Landscape. The band was charged with distribution of harmful matter to minors, but the trial ended with a hung jury. Dead Kennedys released five studio albums before officially disbanding in 1986. In 2001, the band reformed without original singer Jello Biafra, who had been in a legal dispute with the other members over royalties. The band will play three dates in October 2010. Biafra has gone on to be a spoken word performer, covering political topics in particular, since the dissolution of Dead Kennedys.

2. The Clash
The Clash were an English punk band that formed in 1976 as part of the original wave of British punk rock. Along with punk, their music incorporated elements of reggae, ska, dub, funk, rap, dance and rockabilly. For most of their recording career, The Clash consisted of Joe Strummer (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Mick Jones (lead guitar, vocals), Paul Simonon (bass guitar, backing vocals, occasional lead vocals) and Nicky "Topper" Headon (drums, percussion). Headon left the group in 1982, and internal friction led to Jones's departure the following year. The group continued with new members, but finally disbanded in early 1986.

The Clash were a major success in the UK from the release of their debut album, The Clash, in 1977. Their third album, London Calling, released in the UK in December 1979, brought them popularity in the United States when it came out there the following month. Critically acclaimed, it was declared the best album of the 1980s a decade later by Rolling Stone magazine.

The Clash's politicized lyrics, musical experimentation and rebellious attitude had a far-reaching influence on rock, alternative rock in particular. They became widely referred to as "The Only Band That Matters", originally a promotional slogan introduced by the group's record label, CBS. In January 2003, the band—including original drummer Terry Chimes—were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In 2004, Rolling Stone ranked The Clash number 30 on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.

3. Misfits

Misfits

The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles and, with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

After a series of legal battles with Danzig, Only and Doyle regained the rights to record and perform as the Misfits. They formed a new version of the band in 1995 with singer Michale Graves and drummer Dr. Chud. This incarnation of the Misfits had a sound much more rooted in heavy metal and released the albums American Psycho (1997) and Famous Monsters (1999) before dissolving in 2000. Jerry Only then took over lead vocals and recruited former Black Flag guitarist Dez Cadena and former Ramones drummer Marky Ramone for a Misfits 25th Anniversary tour. This lineup released an album of cover songs entitled Project 1950 and toured for several years. In 2005 Ramone was replaced by Robo, who had played with Black Flag in the early 1980s and had also previously been the Misfits' drummer from 1982 to 1983. The current lineup of Only, Cadena, and Robo continues to tour and has announced plans to record an album of new material.

4. Sex Pistols
The Sex Pistols are an English punk rock band that formed in London in 1975. They are responsible for initiating the punk movement in the United Kingdom and inspiring many later punk and alternative rock musicians. Although their initial career lasted just two-and-a-half years and produced only four singles and one studio album—Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols—they are regarded as one of the most influential acts in the history of popular music.

The Sex Pistols originally comprised vocalist Johnny Rotten, guitarist Steve Jones, drummer Paul Cook and bassist Glen Matlock. Matlock was replaced by Sid Vicious in early 1977. Under the management of impresario Malcolm McLaren, the band created controversies which captivated Britain. Their concerts repeatedly faced difficulties with organizers and authorities, and public appearances often ended in mayhem. Their 1977 single "God Save the Queen", attacking Britons' social conformity and deference to the crown, precipitated the "last and greatest outbreak of pop-based moral pandemonium".

In January 1978, at the end of a turbulent US tour, Rotten left the band and announced its break-up. Over the next several months, the three other band members recorded songs for McLaren's film version of the Sex Pistols' story, The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle. Vicious died of a heroin overdose in February 1979. In 1996, Rotten, Jones, Cook and Matlock reunited for the Filthy Lucre Tour; since 2002, they have staged further reunion shows and tours. On 24 February 2006, the Sex Pistols—the four original members plus Vicious—were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but they refused to attend the ceremony, calling the museum "a piss stain".

5. Black Flag
Black Flag was an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. The band was established largely as the brainchild of Greg Ginn: the guitarist, primary songwriter and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands. Black Flag forged a unique sound early on that mixed the raw simplicity of the Ramones with atonal guitar solos and frequent tempo shifts. The band was also known for the intense and evocative lyrics found in their songs, most of which were penned by Ginn. Like other punk bands of this era, Black Flag gave voice to an anti-authoritarian, non-conformist message, featuring songs punctuated with descriptions of isolation, neurosis, poverty, and paranoia, themes that would be explored further when Henry Rollins joined the group as lead singer in 1981. Most of the band's material was released on Ginn's independent label, SST Records.

Black Flag was—and remains—well respected among their underground punk culture, with their influence primarily in their tireless promotion of a self-controlled DIY ethic and aesthetic. They are often regarded as pioneers in the movement of underground do-it-yourself record labels that flourished among the 1980s punk rock bands. Through seemingly constant touring throughout the United States and Canada, and occasionally Europe, Black Flag established an extremely dedicated fan base. Many other musicians would follow Black Flag's lead and book their own tours, utilizing a word-of-mouth network.

Over the course of the 1980s, Black Flag's sound, as well as their notoriety, evolved in ways that alienated much of their early punk audience. As well as being central to the creation of hardcore, they were part of the first wave of American West Coast punk rock and are considered a key influence on the punk subculture. Along with being among the earliest punk rock groups to incorporate elements and the influence of heavy metal melodies and rhythm (particularly in their later records), there were often overt freestyles, free jazz, breakbeat and contemporary classical elements in their sound, especially in Ginn's guitar playing, and the band interspersed records and performances with instrumentals throughout their career. They also played longer, slower, and more complex songs at a time when many bands in their milieu stuck to a raw, fast, three-chord format. As a result, their extensive discography is more stylistically varied than many of their punk rock contemporaries.

6. The Germs
The Germs are an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, originally active from 1977 to 1980. Their 1977 single, "Forming"/"Sexboy", is generally regarded as the first punk record from Los Angeles. The band's early lineup consisted of singer Darby Crash, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom, and their most consistent drummer Don Bolles. Germs have since reformed in 2005 with Shane West replacing Darby Crash. They released only one album, 1979's (GI) (produced by Joan Jett) and were featured the following year in Penelope Spheeris' documentary film The Decline of Western Civilization, which chronicled the Los Angeles punk movement.

The Germs disbanded following Crash's suicide on December 7, 1980. Their music was influential to many later punk rock acts. Pat Smear went on to greater notoriety performing with Nirvana and the Foo Fighters.

In 2005 actor Shane West was cast to play Crash in the Germs biographical film What We Do Is Secret named after a song by the Germs. He performed with Pat Smear, Doom, and Bolles at a production party for the film, after which the Germs re-formed with West as singer. The new lineup of the band has performed a number of tours in the United States, including performances on the 2006 and 2008 Warped Tours.

7. The Ramones
The Ramones were an American rock band that formed in Forest Hills, Queens, New York in 1974 and are often cited as the first punk rock group. Despite achieving only limited commercial success, the band was a major influence on the punk rock movement both in the United States and the United Kingdom.

All of the band members adopted pseudonyms ending with the surname "Ramone", though none of them were actually related. They performed 2,263 concerts, touring virtually nonstop for 22 years. In 1996, after a tour with the Lollapalooza music festival, the band played a farewell show and disbanded. By a little more than eight years after the breakup, the band's three founding members—lead singer Joey Ramone, guitarist Johnny Ramone, and bassist Dee Dee Ramone—had all died.

Their only record with enough U.S. sales to be certified gold was the compilation album Ramones Mania. Recognition of the band's importance built over the years, and they are now cited in many assessments of all-time great rock music, such as the Rolling Stone lists of the 50 Greatest Artists of All Time and VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. In 2002, the Ramones were ranked the second-greatest band of all time by Spin magazine, trailing only The Beatles. On March 18, 2002, the Ramones—including the three founders and drummers Marky and Tommy Ramone—were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

8. Circle Jerks
The Circle Jerks are an American punk band, formed circa 1979 in Hermosa Beach, California. It was formed by Black Flag's original singer, Keith Morris, and future Bad Religion guitarist Greg Hetson. They were among the preeminent hardcore punk bands of the L.A. scene in the early 1980s. The band broke up and reformed twice, sometimes with different bass players and/or drummers. They disbanded for the first time after the release of their fifth album, 1987's VI, as Hetson decided to continue touring and releasing a number of albums with Bad Religion. However, they reunited around 1994 and recorded a reunion album, Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities, in the following year, then a tour followed. After that, the Circle Jerks once again parted ways as Hetson was still involved in Bad Religion, but reunited again around 2001. The band has continued touring ever since.

To date, the Circle Jerks have released six full-length studio albums, one compilation, live album and live DVD. Their last studio release, Oddities, Abnormalities and Curiosities, came out in 1995 and is the only reunion album the band has released to date. Rumor has it that the Circle Jerks are supposedly gearing up for a new studio album, but nothing has surfaced and little is known whether they have begun work on it. If it is released, this will be their first album of new material in 14 years.

Many of today's punk groups cite the Circle Jerks as an influence, including Anti-Flag, Dropkick Murphys, The Offspring and Pennywise.

9. The Damned
The Damned are an English gothic punk band formed in London in 1976. They were the first punk rock band from the United Kingdom to release a single ("New Rose"), an album (Damned Damned Damned), to have a record on the UK music charts, and to tour the United States. The Damned later evolved into one of the forerunners of the gothic genre.

They have incorporated numerous styles into their music and image, including: garage rock, psychedelic rock, cabaret, and the theatrical rock of Screaming Lord Sutch and Alex Harvey. Lead singer Dave Vanian's vocal style has been described as similar to a crooner. The Damned have dissolved and reformed many times, with Vanian as the sole constant member. However, the lineups have always included either guitarist Captain Sensible and/or drummer Rat Scabies, who are both founding members. The current line-up includes Vanian, Captain Sensible, Monty Oxy Moron, Pinch and Stu West.

10. The Stooges
The Stooges (also known as Iggy and The Stooges) is an American rock band from Ann Arbor, Michigan first active from 1967 to 1974, and later reformed in 2003. Although they sold few records in their original incarnation and often performed for indifferent or hostile audiences, the Stooges are widely regarded as instrumental in the rise of punk rock, as well as influential to alternative rock, heavy metal and rock music at large.

The Stooges were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2010.

Exodus, who dont knows pioneer thrash metal band origin of the San Francisco Bay Area who is also an ex-band guitarist, Metallica (Kirk Hammett) will hold a concert at the South Plaza Senayan, Jakarta on Thursday, September 29 next. The news has confirmed the arrival of Exodus Entertainment Solucites such as concert promoters. And there will be about three local bands will be an opening Exodus.

Exodus is currently touring around the world to promote their latest album, Exhibit B: The Human Condition. Before they plan to Jakarta will appear first in Beijing, China (23 / 9), Bangkok, Thailand (26 / 9) and Singapore (28 / 9). Exodus concert ticket price has yet to be ascertained, but I've heard ticket prices ranging between Rp 150,000 - Rp 200,000.

Exodus, which was formed 30 years ago belong to the ranks of bands who pioneered the genre of thrash metal music with Metallica, Death Angel, Testament, Megadeth. All of the band grew up together in San Francisco Bay Area that makes the area then known as the pioneer of thrash metal scene's most influential people in the world.

Band founded guitarist Gary Holt, Kirk Hammett, drummer Tom Hunting in 1980 had a chance to experience a prolonged vacuum in the year 1998 before finally returning in a charity concert reunion Thrash Of The Titans are dedicated for Testament singer Chuck Billy in 2001. Paul Balloff their original vocalist died in 2002 because of his position and then had a stroke and was replaced for tens of years by Steve "Zetro" Souza, who later withdrew from the band in 2004.

Since his debut album, Bonded By Blood in 1985, Exodus has now been released 13 albums- total of nine studio albums, two live albums and two compilation albums. Kirk Hammett from the band's own pilgrimage to Metallica in 1983 to replace the position of guitarist Dave Mustaine formed Megadeth later.

Now the formation of Exodus is Rob Dukes (vocals), Gary Holt (guitar), Lee Altus (guitar), Jack Gibson (bass) and Tom Hunting (drums).

Many bands have worshiped at the foot of Iron Maiden. Such is the staying power of the band that more than 3 decades after its inception, it continues to move albums off shelves to reach platinum and gold status.

The group has sold over 75 million records, has been inducted into the Hollywood RockWalk, and has been hailed as one of the most influential rock bands in music history. The band has also been prominently featured in films, video games and songs by other groups, all in acknowledgment of its musical influence. Indeed, Iron Maiden is a legend in the making, if the band is not already one.

Band History

Iron Maiden has had its fair share of ups and downs in line-up changes. Steve Harris formed the original group on Christmas Day 1975 with the name being taken from the iron maiden torture device seen on the movie The Man in the Iron Mask. Harris (bass, backing vocals and studio keyboards) and David Murray (guitar) are the longest-standing members of the group.

Other current members include Bruce Dickinson on lead vocals, Adrian Smith on guitar and backing vocals; Janick Gers on guitar; and Nicko McBrain on drums and percussion while Michael Kenney performs with the group during live performances as the keyboardist. The former members were either fired from or left the group due to personal and professional differences. These former members were Doug Sampson and Clive Burr on drums and percussions; Paul Di'Anno, Paul Day and Dennis Wilcock on lead vocals; and Dennis Stratton on guitars and backing vocals.

Studio Albums

The studio Iron Maiden albums released since 1975 until 2010 now number 30 in all comprised of 14 studio albums, 4 extended plays (EPs), 5 compilations and 7 live albums. With such an impressive collection of albums to its name, the band has been cited in many music industry rankings including the VH1 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock, the MTV Top 10 Greatest Heavy Metal Bands of All Time and the Ivor Novello Award for International Achievement, amongst other accolades heaped on the band.

Just to describe a few of the 14 studio albums released in the three-decade long career of the group:

Thrash metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal that is characterized by its fast tempo and aggression. Thrash metal songs typically use fast, percussive and low-register guitar riffs, overlaid with shredding-style lead work. Thrash metal lyrics often deal with social issues using direct and denunciatory language, an approach which partially overlaps with the hardcore genre. The "Big Four" bands of thrash metal are Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica and Slayer, who simultaneously created and popularized the genre in the early 1980s.

The origins of thrash metal are generally traced to the late 1970s and early 1980s, when a number of bands began incorporating the sound of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, creating a new genre and developing into a separate movement from punk rock and hardcore. This genre is more aggressive compared to its relative, speed metal, and can be seen in part to be a reaction to the lighter, more widely acceptable sounds and themes of glam metal.

Musical traits

Thrash metal generally features fast tempos, low-register, complex guitar riffs, high-register guitar solos, double bass drumming, and an aggressive vocal style, such as the gruff voices of Metallica's James Hetfield or Tom Araya of Slayer. Occasionally, a thrash metal band will have a more melodic singer. The most prominent example of this is Joey Belladonna of Anthrax, whose style follows a similar vein to that of Bruce Dickinson and Rob Halford.

Most thrash guitar solos are played at high speed, as they are usually characterized by shredding, and use techniques such as sweep picking, legato phrasing, alternate picking, Tremolo picking, string skipping, and two-hand tapping. Thrash lead guitarists are often influenced by the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement.

Thrash guitar riffs often use chromatic scales and emphasize the tritone and diminished intervals, instead of using conventional single scale based riffing. For example, the main riff of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" is a chromatic descent, followed by a chromatic ascent based on the tritone. Rhythm guitar playing is characterized by extensive palm muting and down picking to give the riffs a chugging sound, along with extensive use of the pedal point technique (creating what can be considered a distinctive, 'thrashy' sound).

Speed, pacing, and time-changes also define thrash metal. Thrash tends to have an accelerating feel which may be due in large part to its aggressive drumming style. For example, thrash drummers often use two bass drums, or a double-bass pedal, in order to create a relentless, driving beat. Cymbal stops/chokes are often used to transition from one riff to another or to precede an acceleration in tempo.

To keep up with the other instruments, many thrash bassists use a pick. However, some prominent thrash metal bassists have used their fingers, such as Frank Bello, Greg Christian, Steve DiGiorgio, Robert Trujillo and Cliff Burton. Several bassists use a distorted bass tone, an approach popularized by Burton and Motörhead's Lemmy.

Lyrical themes in thrash metal include isolation, alienation, corruption, injustice, addiction, suicide, murder, warfare, and other maladies that afflict the individual and society. Humor and irony can occasionally be found, but they are limited, and are the exception rather than the rule.

Judas Priest

History

NWOBHM (New Wave of British Heavy Metal) bands directly influenced the development of early thrash. The early work of artists such as Diamond Head, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Venom, Motörhead, Tygers of Pan Tang, Raven, and Angel Witch, among others, introduced the fast-paced instrumentation that became essential aspects of thrash. Features on Judas Priest's British Steel, "Rapid Fire", have been noted as a "proto-thrash" song. Warheads have also been mentioned as a proto-thrash band.

In Europe, the earliest band of the emerging thrash movement formed in 1979, which was Venom from Great Britain. Their seminal 1982 album "Black Metal" has been cited as the major influence on many subsequent genres and bands in the extreme metal world, such as Bathory, Hellhammer, Slayer and Mayhem. It was also the first studio release to contain tracks which can still be recognised today as fully formed thrash metal. The European thrash scene was almost exclusively influenced by the most aggressive music both Germany and England were producing at that time. British bands such as Tank, and Raven, along with German metal exports Accept, motivated musicians from central Europe to start bands of their own, eventually producing German thrash exports such as Sodom, Kreator and Destruction.

In 1981, a Southern California band by the name of Leather Charm wrote a song entitled "Hit the Lights". Leather Charm soon disbanded and the band's primary songwriter, vocalist/rhythm guitarist James Hetfield met drummer Lars Ulrich through a classified ad. Together, James and Lars formed Metallica, the first of the "Big Four" thrash bands, with lead guitarist Dave Mustaine, who would later form Megadeth, another of the "Big Four" originators of thrash, and bassist Ron McGovney. Metallica later relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. McGovney was replaced with Cliff Burton, and Mustaine was later replaced with Kirk Hammett. The band released "Hit the Lights" on their first studio album, Kill 'Em All, in July 25, 1983.

Another "Big Four" thrash band formed in Southern California in 1981, when guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King met while auditioning for the same band and subsequently decided to form a band of their own. Hanneman and King recruited vocalist/bassist Tom Araya, a former respiratory therapist, and drummer Dave Lombardo, a pizza delivery driver, and Slayer was formed. Slayer was discovered by Metal Blade Records executive Brian Slagel while performing Iron Maiden's "Phantom of the Opera" at a show, and were promptly signed to the label. In December 1983, less than six months after the release of Kill 'Em All, Slayer put out their debut album, Show No Mercy.

In the early 80s Canada produced influential speed metal bands like Toronto's Anvil and Ottawa's Exciter whose insistence upon fast playing and aggressiveness is considered a main influence to proper thrash metal[citation needed]. Bands such as Jonquière's Voivod were one of the first bands to combine progressive rock influences with speed metal.

Anthrax

Mid-1980s

The popularity of thrash metal increased in 1984 with the release of Metallica's Ride the Lightning, Anthrax's Fistful of Metal, Overkill's self-titled EP and Slayer's Haunting the Chapel. This led to a heavier sounding form of thrash, which was reflected in Exodus's Bonded by Blood and Slayer's Hell Awaits. In 1985, the German band Kreator released their debut album Endless Pain and the Brazilian band Sepultura released their EP Bestial Devastation. Megadeth, which was formed by former Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine, released their debut album Killing Is My Business... And Business Is Good!, and Anthrax released the critically acclaimed Spreading The Disease in 1985.

Late 1980s

In 1987, Anthrax released their album Among the Living, which bore similarities to their two previous releases: Fistful of Metal and Spreading the Disease, with fast and heavy guitars and pounding drums. Death Angel took a similar pro-thrash approach with their 1987 debut, The Ultra-Violence.

In 1988, Suicidal Tendencies, who had previously been a straightforward punk band, released their major label debut How Will I Laugh Tomorrow When I Can't Even Smile Today. This album had very thrashy guitar riffs and an overall very metal oriented sound, with much more complicated song structures than on their previous albums, but the band still stayed true to their roots as a punk band in that the songs were very melodic and had catchy choruses.

Sepultura's third album, Beneath the Remains (1989) earned them some mainstream appeal as it appeared on Roadrunner Records. Testament continued through the late 1980s with The New Order (1988) and Practice What You Preach (1989), both albums showing the band was continuing to grow musically and almost gaining Testament the same level of popularity as the "Big Four" of thrash: Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax and Slayer. Vio-lence, a relative latecomer to the Bay Area thrash metal scene, released their debut album Eternal Nightmare in 1988. Canadian thrashers Annihilator would release their highly technical debut album Alice in Hell (1989) which received much praise due to its fast riffs and extended guitar solos. Sadus was a later thrash band, featuring a sound which was primarily driven by the fretless bass of Steve DiGiorgio. Meanwhile in Germany, Sodom released Agent Orange and Kreator would release Extreme Aggression.

Slayer released South of Heaven in 1988, Megadeth released So Far, So Good... So What! while Metallica's album ...And Justice for All of the same year spawned the band's first video, the World War I-themed song "One".

Megadeth

1990s

In the 1990s, many veteran thrash metal bands began changing to more accessible, radio-friendly styles. Metallica were a notable example of this shift, particularly with their mid to late 90's albums Load (1996), and ReLoad (1997), which both displayed minor blues and southern rock influences, and were seen as a major departure from the band's earlier sound. Megadeth took a more accessible hard rock route starting with their 1992 album Countdown to Extinction, and Testament released the melodic The Ritual in 1992.

A number of more typical thrash albums were released in the 1990s, including Megadeth's Rust in Peace, Anthrax's Persistence of Time, Slayer's Seasons in the Abyss, Suicidal Tendencies' Lights...Camera...Revolution!, Testament's Souls of Black, and Kreator's Coma of Souls. All of those albums were commercial high points for the aforementioned artists. Many of these bands embarked on a group tour called the "Clash of the Titans" the same year.

As further extreme metal genres came to prominence in the 1990s (industrial metal, death metal, and black metal each finding their own fanbase), the heavy metal "family tree" soon found itself blending aesthetics and styles. For example, bands with all the musical traits of thrash metal began using "death growls", a vocal style borrowed from death metal, while black metal bands often utilized the airy feel of synthesizers, popularized in industrial metal. Today the placing of bands within distinct subgenres remains a source of contention for heavy metal fans, however, little debate resides over the fact that thrash metal is the sole proprietor of its respective spinoffs (see below).

Recent popularity (2000s)

Thrash metal has recently seen a certain degree of resurgence of popularity. Bands including Skeletonwitch, Lazarus A.D., Municipal Waste, Toxic Holocaust, Bonded by Blood, Warbringer, Evile, Gama Bomb, and Diamond Plate have been cited as key in the "resurgence" of thrash metal.[26] The genre's sense of recklessness and energy has been cited as a potential reason for its resurgence.

Older thrash bands have continued to put out material such as Megadeth's Endgame (2009), Slayer's World Painted Blood (2009), Metallica's Death Magnetic (2008), Destruction's D.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N. (2008), Sodom's self-titled album (2006), Death Angel's Killing Season (2008), Kreator's Hordes of Chaos (2009), Exodus' Exhibit B: The Human Condition (2010), Overkill's Ironbound (2010), Onslaught's Killing Peace (2007), Testament's The Formation of Damnation (2008), Metal Church This Present Wasteland (2008), Artillery's When Death Comes (2009), and Voivod's Infini (2009).

"Big Four" Tour

In September 2009, it was reported that Metallica's Lars Ulrich was attempting to assemble a tour with thrash metal's "Big Four" — Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax — together on one bill. The "Big Four" took the stage together for seven shows in the Sonisphere Festival concert series. The first show together took place in Warsaw, Poland on June 16, 2010 and the last took place in Istanbul, Turkey on June 27. On May 5, 2010 Metallica announced that the live show in Sofia, Bulgaria on June 22, 2010 would be transmitted via satellite to over 450 movie theaters in the U.S. and over 350 theaters across Europe, Canada, and Latin America. The show also provided the historic moment of all current members of the Big Four (with the exception of Tom Araya, Kerry King and Jeff Hanneman) sharing the stage to perform the song Am I Evil by Diamond Head.

Genre spinoffs

Thrash metal is directly responsible for the offshoot of popular underground metal genres, such as death metal and black metal. The blending of punk ethos and metal's brutal nature led to even more extreme, underground styles after thrash metal began gaining mild commercial success in the late 1980s. With gorier subject matter, heavier downtuning of guitars, the more persistent use of the blastbeat, and darker, atonal death growls, death metal was established in the mid-1980s. Black metal, also considered the offspring of thrash, may have risen even sooner, with many black metal bands taking influence from thrash metal bands such as Venom. Black metal continued with such deviations from thrash, often providing more orchestral soundtracks and Pagan or Occult-based aesthetics to distinguish itself from thrash.

Thrash metal with even more punk elements than standard thrash is called crossover thrash or crossover for short. According to Encyclopaedia Metallum, the term was coined by the band D.R.I. with their album Crossover, released on 1987. Its overall sound is more punk-influenced than traditional thrash metal, while more metal sounding than traditional hardcore punk and thrashcore.

Indonesian death metal band Death Vomit will soon return to earth to scorch the Australian kangaroo country next September in order to tour to promote their new album, soon to be released by the Xenophobic Records Australia this month. Band of Yogyakarta city is able to suck warm the metal heads all over Indonesia and even overseas. Bands that just consists of three members, namely Sofyan Hadi (guitar, vocals), Oki (bass, vocals) and Roy Agus (drums) are able to provide a powerful music contribution and deserves thumbs up.

In the Australian Tour in Perth, the band will perform together with the legendary British band Napalm Death and Dying Fetus from America. To date and place to hold the Tour will be announced soon. Here is the schedule of their tour in Australia:

Predicted by the metalhead homeland, Indonesia will experience a great earthquake in the next september. Not a terrible earthquake, but due to a music performance. Dying Fetus, Dying Fetus yup very true death metal band that formed in 1991 in the town Annapholis, Maryland, America would shake the ground water for concerts in three cities in Indonesia and also two other countries in Asia.

John Gallagher (vocals, guitar), Sean Beasley (vocals, bass), and Trey Williams (drums) will entertain metalheads in Indonesia in the series of promo her latest album, "Descend into Depravity" Relapse Records released last year. Bands in the lyrics always raised political issues this is one band that is revered by metalhead Indonesia.

10 Tips preparation before playing drums

These are a few tips that I always do before playing the drums at the time will show:

1.   Avoid eating heavy meals
2.   Avoid beverages containing alcohol is high, so that your body conditions remain prime
3.   Check all equipment drum

4.   You need to relax while in the back of the stage
5.   Relax your muscles of the hands and feet approximately 10 minutes
6.   Listen to your favorite music on your stretch time
7.   Do this exercise using a drum stick pad
8.   Stay focused on what you do when playing the drums (song list, break and stamina)
9.   Boost your self-confidence
10. Preparing to make the best drumming

Some of the tips above really helped me during a concert anywhere. You try to do and see how it works. Keep the spirit!

FLOGGING MOLLY "Live At The Greek Theatre"

A little review of their biography, FLOGGING Molly, a band from Los Angeles, California, USA has been formed since 1997. They bring Punk Rock music genre and very thick with the smell of Irish music flow or so-called Celtic Punk. They also often called "the seven piece Irish-American celtic punk". Yes because they consisted of 7 men and one of its personnel is a woman. Since its establishment in 1997 Flogging Molly has released several singles, albums and their live performance on DVD, under the umbrella label SideOneDummy. Flogging Molly's music from terinfluence by some of the more popular bands like The Pogues, The Dubliners, Horslips, Johnny Cash and The Clash. One of his album titled "Within a Mile of Home" is dedicated to one of the pioneer American musician Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash.

Their lyrics often talks about the state of Ireland and its history, politics, romantic love, death and also about some of the references of the Roman Catholic Church. Many awards have been achieved by this band, one album, "Float" is capable of landing on the charts # 4 on the Billboard Top 200. This album also marks the highest chart position for SideOneDummy and the Celtic Punk genre in general.

On March 2, 2010 Flogging Molly released a live show DVD / CD entitled "Live At The Greek Theater." Wow it's cool man! The album contains three discs (DVD + CD Double full-length) were taken and recorded from their live performances in Greece in September 2009 Greek past. Dozens of songs they bring me with neat and energetic. Sound is also very solid, but unfortunately ... the crowd is less brutal (perhaps due to an inadequate set of place or is made like that). In the DVD / CD have bonuses like exclusive backstage interviews and bonus video clips.

Do not take for granted the band on this one. They are also one of the Punk Rock band that describes the culture of a country and lifted the genre of Celtic Punk. Two Tumbs Up!
