Matthew Styles - not just some kinda 'Bonus Beats Bob' type character

So if you'd listened to my Rinse FM shows over the last couple of years (two year anniversary coming up in a couple of weeks, yikes!) you'll know that:
(a) every single tune I play is 'my favourite tune of all time'
(b) my dad joke game is strong
(c) I fancy any tune called 'Bonus Beats'

With fact (c) in mind, one kind listener (think it was Grape Guts) sent me a link to a tune called Montana - Bonus Beats from a producer called Matthew Styles and it was right up my street and provided further confirmation that ANY TUNE CALLED BONUS BEATS IS GREAT.

But not wanting to pigeonhole Matthew Styles as some kind of crazy 'Bonus Beats Bob', you know, that well-known phrase, I checked out his other work and it was just as wonderful.

Halfway through DJing at the Energizer Night Run this weekend – where I played 80s soul and disco under a bandstand in the middle of a dark and rainy Battersea Park as hundreds of people in headlamps ran past while being cheered on by Charlie, Bangs and the rest of Cheer Dem Crew – I had a sudden epiphany: DJING IS FUCKING AWESOME.

Not only is he a world-class DJ and producer, having won two DMC championship titles (including with former crew Scratch Perverts), but he also has one of the greatest record collections in the galaxy spanning a million genres, amassed in part from his many digging-the-crate excursions around the world.

AND he is a really lovely chap in life wot loves a nice cup of tea with cake and biscuits.

My first three hour show seemed to fly by even faster than normal, I was just having THAT much of a wonderful time. Plus I had a SICK exclusive mix from Flori (pictured), whose music warms the cockles of me old heart, it really does.

Registering for Copenhagen Half Marathon 2013

This post is for any Run Dem Crew members doing Copenhagen Half Marathon 2013. Took me ages to register due to web translation/browser issues but here's how I signed up in case anyone is having similar issues. Don't think it works in Chrome.

TO REGISTER FOR THE RACE
1. Go to http://tilmelding.sparta.dk/company

2. Scroll down page until you see ‘POWERADE COPENHAGEN HALF MARATHON 2013’ section, and click the blue ‘Tilmeld dig’ box

3. Fill in the form as follows to set up your user account.

N.B. If you have already created an account on a previous occasion, scroll down to the bottom and log in using your email address and password.

FOR STEPS 4 - 9, I'VE SCREENGRABBED IMAGES OF THE PAGES WITH ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS BUILT IN, BUT ON YOUR SCREEN IT WILL BE IN DANISH. JUST FILL IN YOUR DETAILS IN THE RIGHT PLACES =)

4. Your user account is now set up. Select your name from the drop down box, select the distance (21.1km) and click the green 'Add runner' button.

(If you want to register someone else on their behalf, you will have to add them using the 'Create New Runs' button below).

5. Your race place has now been added to the Cart on the right hand side of the page. Click the blue 'Go to shipping' button.

6. Add in your address and then click on the blue button underneath (on the right) to go to the payment page:

7. Select Credit Card ('Kreditkort'). Then, under Card Type ('Kort type') select the SECOND option to make a foreign payment ('Udenlandske betalingskort'). If you are not based in Denmark, you must select this option or your card payment won't go through (as far as I can tell).

Then tick the terms and conditions box and click on the green button to approve your order.

8. You will now be on the 'approve order' page. The total fee for the race should be 303.00 DKK. If it all looks ok, click on the red Pay Order ('Betal ordren') button to enter your card details.

9. Enter card details (see image below for translation, 'check digits' = your card's three digit security code)

10. Once your payment is approved, you will see the final page confirming that you have registered for the race (and you should get an email too).

I have blurred out my details in case you get any funny ideas about coming to my house in the middle of the night and murdering me or whatever.
