Has blogged for: Over a year now, since the 1st of February.

Reads/blogs about these genres:
My very addicting genres are: Paranormal Romance, Urban Fantasy, Science Fiction Fantasy, Horror, and of course Young Adult

~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~

How come you decided to start a book blog?
I use to work for Borders Books and Music as a supervisor and of course was surrounded by books 24/7. I loved recommending books to my customers and was thankful to have them come back and ask for more suggestions. Since I was already recommending books, I thought to start a blog where I could actually give my opinions. I did open my blog originally four years ago but super busy with college and didn’t come back to blogging until a year ago. I joined a Blogger and Publishing Conference last year and met some wonderful blogger, one being Bex here at Kindle Fever. Since then I’ve been blogging and reading like mad.

Yes, it IS Ian Somerhalder!!
How did you come up with the name for it? Was it your first choice?
To tell the truth, I really have no clue. I’m a bit of a night owl. I was always reading at night and sitting at my window and I think it just came to be that way.

How would you describe yourself with 6 words?
Sarcastic, Nerdy, Artistic, Moody, Random, Urban

What do you enjoy doing when not reading or blogging?
I’m a graphic designer as my day job, working for an ELearning company and also designing book covers. So always busy

How does your bookshelf look at this exact moment? (Either describe or add a picture!)
Well here is only half my bookshelf and I obviously need another on since each row is double stacked. And yes if you look hard enough you’ll spot a bow and arrow on one of the shelves, my husbands of course.

Kristen's shelves! Click for a larger image.

What is the first thing you do when coming home after a long day out?
I come home and either relax watching a movie with my husband, while my puppy sits next to us snoring. Or I read my latest book while my husband plays call of duty on the xbox lol.

If I told you you’d won a trip to the destination of your choice, where would you choose to go and why this specific place?
Korea! I’m such a fan of the Korean dramas and the wonderful food is to die for. Plus my husband is Korean and he always tells me about his hometown and places to go that I really want to see.

Three random:

If something happened and you would only be able to see everything in one color for the rest of your life, which color would you prefer it to be and why?
Well since black would be pretty dark and I wouldn’t really see anything. I’ll go with my other favorite color red. I think that would make things all dark and mysterious, especially at night in red.

Which one do you prefer? Pick one in each pair: dancing or singing—being read to or read to—werewolf or vampire.
Dancing or Singing…ehhh neither!! But if I had to choose I’d go with dancing. I love reading to and one day I’ll enjoy reading to my kids. Werewolves!!! I’m such a shifter fan, I love my tall, muscular and protective wolves.

Would you rather want to bring a favorite character out into our world or join him/her by stepping into theirs? Why?
I would love to step into one of my characters world. Not sure which book, since there are so many, maybe Patricia Briggs Mercy Thompson series. I love werewolves in that series!

~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~ – ~

I’ve only read one of the Mercy Thompson books, but I definitely liked their werewolves too!
And I bet it’d be cool to go to Korea, especially if your hubby’s from there:)

While The Weeping always had me curious, I still managed to be surprised by how good it truly ended up being. I guess I wasn’t quite expecting the dark, intense mystery and emotional roller coaster ride, full of twists and turns that I got in the end. It was a wonderful ride though and during the few hours it took for me to finish this short, but quite brilliant book, I could barely bring myself to put it down!

After losing his best friends in a car accident where he was the only survivor, Heath is broken. In a desperate last attempt to try and get their son back, his parents decide to leave him at his uncle’s place for the summer, where he can help him work in the theater. While Heath improves with each day as he starts to befriend new people and open up again, weird things are starting to happen; things that he can’t give a logical explanation for and he soon discovers that he’s haunted by a girl who died in the theater during a fire years ago. Together with his new friends, he starts to look into her past in order to discover why she’s so angry and discovers a secret that connects her to their families. It’s not until some of those connected suddenly starts dying however, that they realize the situation is far worse than they ever expected. Is the ghost finally trying to get the revenge she’s been after for years and does that mean that they are next?

I loved all of the characters, whether they were likable or not; I couldn’t bring myself to hate even the so called ‘evil’ ones, who, in some ways, were even easy to understand. Except for the ending that felt as if it was cut short (cut short as in me being convinced I was missing a part of the book), I truly enjoyed it! It was an intense and truly creepy mystery that had me guessing right up until the end, when I instead ended up starting at the pages in shock. If you’re interested in this shorter, intense and creepy read, I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Josie’s ghost-hunting tips

Hi all! My name’s Josie Plummer, and I’m here to talk to you about hauntings.

I love all things paranormal, and much to the chagrin of my family and a few of my friends, I love hunting down and communicating with ghosts.

The first thing I should point out is that this really isn’t something to mess around with. Not all ghosts/spirits are harmless. Some can be evil and want to hurt you, so it’s important to understand the different types of hauntings.

The one type of haunting I see a lot of is the Residual Haunting. These occur when something tragic has happened to someone and the event plays over and over like a loop. Those stories you hear about a woman walking the halls of an old house searching for her children would fall into this category. More than likely the ghost doesn’t even know anyone else is in the vicinity. They won’t harm you or make contact with you in any way. They’ll just annoy the crap out of you.

Another type of haunting is the Poltergeist Haunting. This is a spirit that is able to manifest itself and interact with people physically. They like to throw things, move furniture, scream, cry and manipulate electronic devices. This type of activity can start and stop abruptly, or it can go on for great lengths of time. These little buggers can be a lot scarier, and can physically hurt you, so be careful. The good news is, they are easily dealt with.

Poltergeist Hauntings should not be confused with Demonic Hauntings. Demons are crazy bitches and their sole purpose is to cause chaos through manipulation. They love to cause pain, and can even possess a person if the person is weak enough. I’ve never encountered a demon, and I really hope I never do.

My favorite type of haunting is the Intelligent or Interactive Haunting. This is when a ghost or spirit is aware of you. It can touch you and communicate with you. Sometimes this is harmless, but you have to be careful. Sometimes the ghost is vengeful and could be out to hurt you. This is different than a Poltergeist Haunting in that the ghost is fully aware of what they are doing. They can be difficult to get rid of.

Right now I’m working with my friend Heath to communicate with the spirit of this girl who died in a fire. For some reason, she’s latched on to him, and she’s really starting to freak us out. At first he just heard crying in the theatre where we work, and then another night he thought he saw her, so I figured it was just a Residual Haunting, but then she contacted him through his iPod, so I thought that maybe I was wrong, it could be a Poltergeist.

Now, I’m pretty sure this is an Interactive Haunting. She appears regularly, and she seems to be growing in strength. Last night we contacted her using a Ouija Board, and I have to admit, even I was freaked out. She’s much stronger than I originally thought, and she’s definitely after something.

How do I know all of this stuff? Well, first of all, I read A LOT of books and websites centered around hauntings. I also dabble a little in witchcraft. I’m really intrigued with blood magic and the power of it, but that’s a topic for another day.

After reading up on the stuff, I got brave and started checking out places that were rumored to be haunted. I live on the Oregon Coast and there are a lot of supposed hauntings around here. A few of the places I checked out were busts, but others were quite active.

When I first started hunting, I used this app called GhostRadar on my phone. Supposedly it picks up EMP’s. I can’t vouch that it actually does what it says it does, but I can say that every time I’ve been in a truly haunted place, the radar on the app was off the charts.

Another tool I’ve started using a lot is the Ouija Board. I would not use one of these unless you are experienced. These things can open you up to all kinds of dangerous encounters if you aren’t careful.

So, there you have it. A few ghost hunting tidbits from yours truly.

Happy hunting, and stay safe!

Josie-
