This little precious ball of adorableness is Dumplin.

Dumplin was rescued from a high-kill shelter and now she needs someone like you to give her a new forever home. Don’t you just want to peer into those soft bluish-gray eyes all day, every day?

According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), the average American has a commute that takes more than 25 minutes each way. Naturally, as Americans, the majority of us believe we are self-sufficient and drive to work.

The bare bones man cave requires a nice flat screen. The ridiculous, out-of-control, can-we-just-live-here-instead man cave will have TV screens seemingly everywhere. There has to be at least four large televisions in the center of the room for viewing multiple games at once. TVs at the bar or dropping down from the ceiling in other areas of the man cave are swell ideas as well.

2. Comfortable Seating - It starts with a nice, comfy couch. Seating for multiple people that you can also use for napping when you are alone watching a NASCAR race or if a baseball game goes 18 innings. Other potential seating: bar stools, Laz-E-Boy recliner, massage chairs, beanbag chairs, gaming rocker seats, skybox seating (elevated seating, often chairs on top of tables behind couches).

3. Door - Most people might overlook this, but having a physical barrier between the man cave and the outside is essential. You don’t need the dog, children or significant other coming in and interrupting in the final 10 seconds of a game. Want to get creative? Go with a hidden bookcase door. It’ll be awesome. Your wife’s friends will hear screams coming from the walls. They’ll think the house is haunted and never want to come back.

4. Refrigerator - No one wants to be thirsty while watching the game. And preparing a cooler for each game will get old fast. A Kegerator, WunderBar or On-Ice Beer Dispenser would all be great additions as well.

5. Entertainment – There isn’t always something on TV. Your friends are still going to want to come hang out in your badass man cave. When you get back home from the bar and your friends want to keep the party going, having entertainment will keep everyone happy.  Billiards, foosball, ping pong, pop-a-shot basketball, putting green, arcade games, pinball or even a shiny pole securely fastened to the floor and ceiling. There are several options. What entertainment you choose will likely be determined by how much space, time and money you have.

6. Restroom - Having a restroom may not seem like a big deal, but it REALLY is. You know what you don’t want to do? Miss any of the game because you have to go through the rest of the house to use the restroom. Then you get caught up in a conversation about how you need to clean out the gutters and end up missing the big touchdown pass. This isn’t the master bathroom. You don’t need to have a whirlpool tub or a waterfall shower head. You don’t need a fancy sink or anything like that. In fact, unless you have a group of female fans you plan on being regulars, I propose just installing a urinal. Every man prefers using a urinal and this will keep someone from potentially stinking up the entire man cave.

7. Gaming – Xbox? Wii? PS3? PS4? It doesn’t matter what your system of choice is. Gaming is pretty much a requirement for a man cave. Use one of the four main screens and get the competition going. You only need like three or four games every year with Madden and some type of first-person shooter as requirements.

8. Decor – The thing that separates a man cave from a family play room is the decor. Sports paraphernalia is a must. Framed jerseys or classic images of iconic moments. If you can afford stadium seats that came out of Old Yankee Stadium or Veterans Memorial Stadium, go for it. Neon signs, funny posters, Fatheads, etc. are all acceptable as well.

But what should be in your home office to make sure you are comfortable and can be super productive? Home offices can be as varied as wardrobe choices — an important part to your home office, which we’ll get to later. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t common items that every home office needs.

Here’s 10 items that you need to create the perfect home office (and let us go ahead and state just how important #1 & #2 are!!):

1. Right-Size Desk - The first thing you need is an actual desk. This could be as simple as a 2×2 wood tabletop or as elaborate as the Member’s Only desk below. I like a desk that is deep enough that I can put a laptop or keyboard on and still be able to set about half my forearm on the flattop area.

It’s all about comfortability when it comes to the first two items. For the desk, get something that provides as much surface space as you need to feel comfortable and then look for something that will provide shelves or drawers for storage areas. If you have the right size desk, but are unable to do your work because of an abundance of clutter that has taken over your common work area, you aren’t doing things right…you either need a cleaning lady or a desk that provides you with adequate storage space.

2. Comfortable Ergonomic Chair – There’s nothing that will kill your productivity quicker than an uncomfortable chair. You’ll either be shifting around all the time or have to keep changing seats. You could also do some serious damage to your body (all those uncomfortable hours can take a major toll on your spinal cord and back muscles creating unneeded tension, calcium deposits, etc. that won’t have you being productive) if you don’t get a comfy, ergonomic chair.

Your chair needs to work well with your desk. Make sure it’s not too short or too tall because either will cause you pain over the long run. You’re going to be sitting in this chair for hours upon hours in the long run, if you have to spend some extra money to assure that you are comfortable, DO IT! Think about how far that extra $25 or $50 is going to take you when you are in the zone knocking out work quickly and then being able to spend half the day at the beach rather than squirming in your chair wondering if you should try to gain an extra 30 or 40 pounds to give you more cushion while sitting in the chair.

3. Laptop - Who wants  a large box desktop PC that’s going to take up half the space on your desk and ruin your feng-shui with all of the cords creating an entangled web behind your desk. Grab a lightweight laptop that will give you flexibility to throw your feet up and still get work done…that’s what the home office is all about anyway.

4. External Hard Drive - Backup…backup…backup! It can’t be stressed enough. If you are trying to create a home office to be destroyed, don’t back up. Because you’ll go all Bruce Banner on your office, sending papers flying and turning pens and paper clips into projectile weapons if your computer crashes and you lose everything. And just think how your clients will feel if you lose all of their data/work? BACKUP!

5. All-in-One Office Equipment - Formerly, having a fax machine, scanner, copier and printer in a home office would not only be a pricey investment but also would swallow a ton of your office space and create a plethora of cords that all had to be tracked back to your computer. 6. Flatscreen Monitor - Even if you have a nice laptop, having an extra large flatscreen monitor is great to reduce the strain on your eyes and give you more visual space to do your work. You’ll feel better about yourself and get more work done. It will keep you in a routine in case you ever have meetings outside your home.
