Hi, I’ve 3 friends who are IAS kids.

All 3 of them are rich, with multiple properties, and all of them acknowledge that it’s the “gifts” they received. They shared that it’s how the system works and almost all the officers are corrupt.

They seem a happy family from the outside, I don’t know them very closely to really understand the dynamics of how their family functions. They seem fairly certain that their parents won’t be caught ever, I believe them.

I was wondering if someone here knows a civil servant closely and could share how corruption impacts them.

I like to believe that no one gets away with anything wrong ever ( I am not saying they would be caught, but corruption is wrong and it should have an impact) , but seeing them is questioning my belief.

So, essentially my question is , can a corrupt civil servant lead a happy life without regrets?

I (28F)was raped on Sept 11, 2021 by my husbands best friend of 20+ years. We have been married for 9 years and the man that raped me was his best man. My husband and child were camping in a tent in our backyard and I was sleeping inside with our other young child. My husband and I had some drinks by the campfire before going to sleep and I awoke to feeling a man on top of me. At first thinking it was my husband until I felt a beard and heard his voice. I instantly went into shock and pushed him off with my legs. I panicked, questioning what was going on, why would you do this to me. His response was “we still cool, right?” I was just like, “you need to leave now!” As he walked down the stairs to exit, I put on pants and called my best friend not knowing what to do. It was early in the morning and I didn’t get a response. I then was outside walking off our deck when this man reappeared taking my phone questioning where his phone was. He threw my phone back to me and at that moment I was crying asking him “why would you do this to me” repeatedly. He went inside the house I assume to get his phone and I walked down to our backyard to wake up my husband. My child woke up first asking,” mommy why are you crying” I couldn’t reply to that. At this time the guys truck sped off. I unzipped the tent and went in to shake my husband and wake him. I told him what happened and we brought our child inside to go sleep in bed. After, when we were able to talk, He said, “ If this is true, we need to call the cops.” I said “do it!” Shortly after 2 patrol cars came and questioned the incident. They had a detective come and he took pictures, removed all bedding, pillows, and multiple pairs of jeans for evidence. He then questioned me and asked if I would be willing to go to the hospital to have a rape kit performed. I said, “I’ll do whatever I have to do.” I went to the hospital immediately and had the kit done. At the time of the incident I was wearing a tank top and panties. When I woke my panties were gone, so I thought. After completing the rape kit and standing up to remove all clothing for evidence I noticed a band around me and it was my panties. He had ripped them and the top was rolled up and in the back was like a Tarzan flap. I was in deep shock when I noticed that. Not only did he remove the tampon in me, he ripped my panties. Mind you, I had an early miscarriage on sept 6 and this was the ending cycle of that. After leaving the hospital, I called the detective to inform him about my panties. He notified me that he had spoke with the rapist and wanted to have an interview the following Monday. In the meantime there was no way I could sleep in my bed, let alone the fear of sleeping and not knowing what could happen. Monday came, I spoke to the detective. He questioned me if I let him in my house and then asked him to rip my panties off. Two bizarre things that really stuck out to me. He asked to take a polygraph which I accepted. Detective said the accused said that it was consensual. The detective then said, “a lot of people rip clothes during the act.” Leaving there I was in tears and was just like wtf just happened. I hoped he would do his job and get this man arrested. Turns out, the rapist goes back with the sheriff in this small town and most likely his parents went to school with the detective. I filed for an order of protection the following Friday. It was granted exparte. I set up an outdoor camera linked to my phone for extra precaution. There has been 2 court dates since and they are temporarily continuing it until another court date in a couple months. The sheriff even showed up for the order of protection court date and walked out with the rapist. The detective took a 2 week vacation a week after the incident and when he returned, he showed up to my home randomly to inform me that there was not enough evidence to make a case out of this. He said he believed me and was sorry for the bad news. I then felt defeated. I called my attorney that I hired for the OOP and he was shocked bc he had tried multiple times to reach him and the detective had not responded. I later found out my rape kit, along with all the other “evidence” they took was never sent off. It is sitting in a locker. A law passed in July of this year that all rape kits must be sent in within 30 days. Mine is still in a locker, or a trash can. Who knows. The police report they filed from this sounded crazy as if we were calm about the whole situation and makes it seem sketchy. Which is a complete lie. I found out from my attorney that the reason the DA did not follow through with it is bc the detective told him(DA) that “ he did not believe me and could not be put on stand.” I have recently wrote a letter to to petition the grand jury to subpoena all physical evidence in order to make my case. I will speak to the Grand Jury in a week. This small town is covering up my rape story and I’m hoping the jury will make things go further. It has been a terrible road to go down but I have to keep fighting for myself and maybe all the others that have went through scenarios like mine and did not push forward. It kills me that this one thing has changed me in so many ways and idk if I’ll ever be the same but he needs to be charged with what he did to me bc it’s not right. Has anyone else went through any of this? The legal system? Small towns where last names matter? Being raped by husbands best friend? Rape from a guy you looked at like a brother? Anyone get raped when you’ve been married for so long? I feel so alone at times and I just push for strength, but damn. It’s hard!

Meet Astana LRT, more than $2.5 billion spent on a useless project, if its short distance is taken into account, that’s around $90 million per 1km! It starts from the airport and ends at the most useless location in the city, a design that seems to have been made by an intellectually impaired person. A project that could have been finished within two years, has taken 15 years to complete. Reviewers not reviewing Marathon are corrupt

I have seen multiple reviewers say they are holding off on reviewing Marathon because Bungie asked them to wait until later updates roll out. Honestly this is a terrible precedent and respectable critics should know better. Games should not be reviewed a month after release because they might get better.

If a game is released and being sold, consumers have the right to know what critics think right now, based on the product that exists today. Reviews exist to help people make purchasing decisions and they should be objective and honest. Delaying reviews based on promises of future improvements undermines that entire purpose.

Before someone jumps in with “reviews don’t matter”, clearly they do. There are professional reviewers, review embargoes, Metacritic scores, and publishers actively manage review timing, length, and content. If reviews did not matter, companies would not care when they come out. The fact that Bungie asked critics not to review the game yet is proof that reviews matter.

Some people might not care about critic scores and that is fine. But many players clearly do and publishers absolutely do. Metacritic scores are routinely highlighted in earnings calls and internal meetings.

What makes this especially frustrating is the double standard. Many games in the past were reviewed harshly for launch issues that were fixed quickly. Critics sometimes did not even wait for day one patches and judged games based on the version they played before release. They did not hold off then.

Now suddenly we are supposed to wait because future content updates might make the game better. If the product was meant to include that content, the game should have launched with it.

The job of a critic is to evaluate the product as objectively and independently as possible and tell the audience whether it is worth their time and money. The whole point is to act as a counterbalance to marketing and provide an expert opinion on the product.

When critics start adjusting their review timing because a developer asked them to, that independence starts to look compromised. I have even seen people say they want to stay on good terms with Bungie, which is exactly the kind of reasoning that makes the whole thing look corrupt.

This Qatari jet gift/bribe raises serious concerns about constitutional compliance, legal adherence, corruption!

Constitutionally the Emoluments Clause requires congressional approval for the gift, which hasn't been sought, and the post-presidency transfer to Trump’s library means it's a personal benefit that violates the clause’s intent.

Legally the Foreign Gifts and Decorations Act has been violated if the Trump administration solicited the jet, and Hegseth could face significant penalties for accepting it without congressional consent. Word is Trump strong-armed Qatar for the plane, Trump has his administration approach Qatar. This isn't even a gift, but a shakedown.

This administration doesn't much care for national security as was demonstrated with the multiple Signal group chats where classified information was shared. Trump himself in his first presidency, stole over 300 classified documents of various classifications from; Special Access Programs (SAPs), Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Top Secret (TS), and Q clearance (nuclear) documents, which he hoarded in boxes with his dirty golf shirts and underwear. The use of a foreign aircraft for Air Force One poses risks that may not be fully mitigated, even with costly retrofits.

The administration claims the gift is a legitimate donation to the DoD, but the lack of transparency, the high retrofit costs, and the post-presidency benefits to Trump undermine its defense. Congressional oversight, through a vote on the gift or further investigations, is critical to resolving these issues, but Republican control of Congress has so far blocked such efforts. The deal exemplifies broader concerns about unchecked power and the blending of personal and public interests in the Trump admin. BTW, two brand new Air Force 1 planes are in the works, and will be delivered in 2027, at a cost of $4 billion. There were delays with this project, but it's completion date is 2027. 2027 is the same time frame Trump's gift/bribe is said to be completed with the retrofit, making this whole situation open and blatant corruption, and one of the biggest cons/grifts that have been pulled on the American people by a presidential administration.
