Hey i would love to ask any Blackberry owners to backup cod files from any games or apps they have installed before they get lost.

I've been very surprised even the lunar archive has a very limited amount of software to fit the funny 3:2 screen resolution.

Particularly looking for things like Bejeweled Twist, PvZ and others, and really any app you downloaded back in the day.

It's fairly easy with tools like BBSAK or vnbbutils

Same goes for any other blackberries, we don't wanna loose these to time

Back when I spent $800 on a Bluetooth headset...

I was so in love with the idea of a wireless Bluetooth headset that I dropped the equivalent of $800 to get an Ericsson HBH-10 on release day (in NL). I'm pretty sure I was the first consumer in the country to have one of them. I even paid for a courier to deliver it to me the same day.

Of course, I didn't realize just how much of a dork I'd look like walking around talking to myself. Even corded headset hadn't taken off back then, so the whole concept was foreign to most people.

Of course, back then, no phone even had Bluetooth, so you had to use the included dongle. That was fine on my T28, but on the R320 it made the phone too tall to fit in a shirt pocket. It wasn't till I got my R520 (which came in one of the coolest color combos ever) and T39 that I finally had built in Bluetooth.

The same day I got it, I realized that the range was less than 40 centimeters. I couldn't even put my phone in my pants pocket without dropping the connection. If I held my hand between the phone and the headset, the connection would drop

The whole kit came in a cool metal biscuit case with international power adapter and plugs, leather belt case, large carrying case, charging dock, dongle, CD and manual.

My actual headset from that day still works, and i have another brand new one on a shelf on display. Despite being such a waste of money, it is one of the coolest things in my collection.

How I demo my 2G/3G phones after the death of 2G

With the death of 2G networks, almost 600 of my phones technically no longer work, and my 100s of GSM900/1800 phones never worked here in the first place. Thankfully, companies like Agilent and Anritsu made a perfect way to get around this.

With these boxes, I can run my own network on any GSM frequency, as well as CDMA. The Anritsu even runs an SMSC and a WAP gateway. All I need is a test sim with my own MCC and MNC. Much easier than running a bladerf, usrp or other sdr, and looks much cooler 😁 It also makes processing SMS messages or offering EDGE of GPRS much easier.

There is something really satisfying about answering a call on a 7110 playing gran vals in 2026.

There was a game for windows phone called Dragon something that I use to play, it had like the style of final fantasy ATB battle style. Anyone know or remember what it was called and if theres an android port of it? I really enjoyed the game before someone stole my windows phone.

Nokia 3210 LTE project update: Sisu hardware and firmware are now public!

Hi again!

A while ago I posted about building a replacement motherboard for the original 1999 Nokia 3210. Quite a few people asked for the source files, a working demonstration, and somewhere to follow the project. I finally have a proper update!

The project is now called Sisu, and I’ve published both the hardware design and firmware source.

The 3210 was my first phone. The goal is still to keep as much of that experience as possible: the original case, buttons, monochrome screen, familiar menus, sounds and games. LTE lets it keep making calls on networks where the original 2G hardware can no longer connect.

The prototype has made VoLTE calls and handled SMS(Tested in USA on AT&T network). The firmware is a new implementation written in C, recreating the old interface. And yes, Snake is there 🙂 (and custom made Pac Man too!)

For anyone following the hardware, the current board uses an RP2354B and a Telit LE910C1-WWX modem. There have been a few board revisions since the first post, and I’m still working on antenna tuning and corrections for the next revision.

A few answers to questions from the earlier threads:

Can you buy one? There are no boards or kits for sale yet. The files are available, but the current revision needs corrections described in the hardware errata.
Do you need an original 3210? Yes. This replaces its motherboard and reuses the donor phone’s parts.
Battery life? I’ve published the early measurements. They suggest almost 4 days in standby. The current prototype uses the original NiMH battery format; the lithium option discussed earlier isn’t supported in this version.
WhatsApp and other extras? I considered some possibilities in the first thread, but have decided to keep Sisu focused on the original phone experience. No WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or browser is planned. (Maybe Telegram as SMS dialog?... idk, not too soon)
