The Internet And Occult Secrecy

I thoroughly believe there is a more legitimate, accurate form of magic other than meditating and following all that new age junk. Don't get me wrong, meditating is good for your concentration, and lord knows you're going to need that especially in this day and age with phones and tech. But the way the magic is presented these days seems so trial and error and varying degrees of success where it might as well be luck when it "works" even a little. These methods seem to be spread everywhere on the internet evenly, even in masquerading books edited by new agers for a halfwit to understand. I don't blame many of you for leaning on New Age so much, after all it is about 70% of what you'll find these days, and the old traditions are usually passed on quietly, or ancient and untouched. Therefore many of you including the fool writing this won't touch very genuine magic, and I believe it will die out and be forgotten... Remember these were the first people to even touch magic, they knew more than we could dream of.

Just think of how many magical books have been destroyed and libraries, turned to holocaust, for containing even a little of Occult knowledge. All they knew was it contained the prowess to shift worlds and change lives to horrific extents, a power they believed needed to belong to nobody. Perhaps they were right, or maybe the people who hold on to forbidden knowledge are hidden. The thing about these days is, nobody really wants to research old traditions and read books on how the old thought, they just want procedure and "magic". Luckily, these books are not that good and can be left for the riff raffs. If you are looking for a gem of Occult on the internet, you will be searching a long time, and it will probably be in a different language.

Lastly, whoever is reading this, please do not stay on the internet for every resource on occult, this is not a private/dependable place, seek someone older and wiser, research, read old books, most importantly, keep every bit of knowledge secret. If you seek what the old ones knew, you may find it.

I never really understood the point of privacy.

The notion of privacy, and why people seem to want it, had always baffled me. But now I'm beginning to understand.

I grew up in a religious house, God was always "watching". And so my whole life I've carried around this paranoia. And a faulty assumption that everyone knew everything about me. Every action, every thought...

But now as I've slowly been tending myself to healthy relationships, and am in the midst of some hardcore NRE, I'm finally starting to see the value of privacy. Of being able to think and feel things, good and bad, without externalising it. Of being able to journal, write and sing without it being known. Of being able to plan what I want to say, and gauge when I want to share it.

It's a very freeing sensation.

TW: suicidal ideation/attempts, emotional abuse.

It's very frustrating because I don't even need to get to the most gruesome details for that to happen. I never know how to react when people tell me that.

The former makes me feel like I need to justify being alive or that I shouldn't even bother getting better. I get that they mean to emphasise my supposed strength, because I'm so strong I survived, but it's not like I never tried to commit suicide in the past or wasn't extremely suicidal. It's just that my life is a thousand times better than it ever was and I'm not suicidal anymore(I've moments, but nothing constant). Also my mother would constantly tell me "I could go kill myself, just not on her house because she didn't want to deal with such a disgusting mess". In a way she prevented me from feeling suicidal once I was kicked out of her house for the last time because I feel like if I did it now, I'd be fulling her wish of not making a mess for her to deal with.

As for the latter, well, I honestly don't think anyone would want to read my story because if a very tame version is enough to make people think of committing suicide if they were me, who the hell would actually wanna read about it? Also it's not like my life is a tv series and my trauma is entertaining. I get that a lot of parts of it played out more dramatically than fiction. Some parts were crazy enough that if they were a movie, people would say it was too unrealistic. But once again I don't know what to say besides "Maybe I will some day".

Even my partner told me to write about and at some point he said "I don't understand how you are not suicidal". I know he said this because he struggles with suicidal ideation himself, but still. I don't think I'll ever know how to react to that...

I know I should've learned by now and I should probably not open up about my past at this point. The only options are to lie about it(and I despise lying) or never talk about anything personal and from experience I know if I never share anything about myself the other party will start to wonder why I never talk about myself and they'll start asking questions. Also not opening up about some of my past makes me feel like whatever connection I've with this person is based off of omissions and secrecy. But no, I don't think I own anybody the truth about my past and I don't mean to imply that people left me because of my past, in fact opening up is quite helpful for myself. My problem is when people have those two reactions. It makes me wonder if I've been doing wrong, or I'm simply unable to gauge what's considered awful by a normal person's standards.

I'm not on therapy right now, but I've been through 3 psychiatrists and 3 psychologists, the last pair was in a different country and I'd previously assumed my home country just had bad mental health professionals. All of them had trouble dealing with me. "You're the hardest case I've ever had", "I'm not equipped enough to deal with your case", "You've too many symptoms of too many different disorders, I'm not comfortable diagnosing you". So yeah, maybe my judgement is not the best or something. I don't know why I'm talking about this exactly, but I guess that's the point of venting?

I feel like I don't even know all the abusive things that happened to me yet, because very often I'll share some innocent story and I'll get The Stare(I think some of you might know what I'm talking about). Unless it's my partner, he'll then explain why that was abusive, but we've been together for 7 years and this still happens quite often. I wish I could just get a check list of everything that could be abusive so I'd just know how to avoid this.

I'm sorry if none of this make sense, I'll stop now before I derail this even more.

Threema 4.5: Feature kills security

Threema 4.5 (android) includes new features but what's not apparent from their release it's also a step to a less secure system.

Threema had a long time feature called "private chats". To view these chats you needed to enter the PIN. This allows someone to add an extra layer of security to specific chats.

Global search however searches across all chats, showing the hits and adjacent text including the ones from private chats without the need of entering the PIN. This feature defeats the added protection that private chat provides.

Currently, "hide private chat" on your chat list prevents the information leak. So there is a workaround if you are aware of the issue and apply the proper settings.

Like, obviously Muggles are going to have strong reaction to wizards. Some will be fascinated, others would want to use magic for personal gain, sone would expect magical solutions to mundane problems, some would be afraid of what magic is capable of and alarmed by the implications of the prior wide spread use of memory charms, there would be religious debate, calls for integration and regulations, etc.

But wizards aren’t the only thing out there.

Once the public learns unicorns and dragons are they would immediately need to be listed as protected species. You know there would be a black market for magical creatures. Poachers are going to go after them to sell as exotic pets or for illegal zoos and circuses, people are going to want to trophy hunt them, or sell body parts for real of perceived magical properties they may possess.

Muggles would also learn that things like goblins, elves, giants, centaurs, merpeople, vampires, hags, werewolves, and Veela are real. That’s a big deal, especially for the scientific community, that we have nonhuman persons who exist in the world. Biologists are going to want to know all about beings like goblins, and they fit into human evolutionary history.
