The month of January at Redeemer was devoted to prayer about our role in God’s mission. We prayed for our family and friends, our church, our city, our nation and our world. You can access the prayer guide here. Each Sunday we had a testimony and time of emphasis to personalize one of these elements.

We planned to show a video testimony from our friends in India this past Sunday. We were unable to show it because of technical difficulties. They sent us a serious and a funny version of the video. Obviously, we chose to share the funny one. Here is the video. For security reasons, you will need a password to access the video. Email us to request your password.

We take seriously the instruction given to the children of Redeemer Church. Redeemer Church’s vision for children’s ministry is that we will partner with parents in proclaiming Christ to grow mature young people who minister in the church and the world.

One aspect of partnering with parents is having Child Dedication in our Sunday Gatherings. Child Dedication at Redeemer is a time where parents commit to raise their children to know and love God and we as the church family commit to partner with them in this weighty, significant, eternal endeavor.

Redeemer’s first Child Dedication will be Sunday, March 11. For all parents interested in dedicating their child, we will have a Child Dedication Class on Sunday, February 12 at 5:00 p.m. The class will help the parents understand what they are committing to and how the church will join with them in this commitment. The Child Dedication Class is required for all families participating in Child Dedication. To sign up for the Child Dedication Class, email Emmie Seals.

We are concluding week one of Redeemer on Mission. I asked Bill Seaver to share with us how his family is participating in our call to prayer and missions emphasis.

From Bill Seaver:
During the Redeemer On Mission prayer emphasis, we are trying to be sure to include our daughters in the prayer time. To do so, we are praying nightly with them on the designated topics from our prayer guide. Each Monday the guide suggests we pray for friends or family members. On the first Monday night this week, our girls immediately thought of a neighbor we could pray for. The prayer and conversation that came afterwards provided distinct and specific points of conversation that we have continued to discuss since that first night.

Beyond these individual connections, I’m also finding that by extending the focused prayer emphasis to the children it is connecting them more closely with the church. They’re participating in something that the whole church is doing and they know that. While on the one hand the prayers are personal about people and places we have chosen to pray for, they’re also part of a collective prayer effort within the church. We’re excited to see how God will use these prayers and conversations in the family for us all to grow more and see His power more clearly.

Do you have a story to share regarding Redeemer on Mission? Email us. We would love to help you share your story.
