trbidi="on">Are you experiencing lag in most MMORPG's you play? Are you crying when you mouseover the fps, and see it below ten? Are you getting owned in the Warfronts, Scenarios, and Battlegrounds? Do your instant spells really not feel like they are instacast? Are you half dead before you realize someone is attacking you?

I feel your pain. I have a pretty new computer, and one of the higher speed broadband services, and I still cry when I see how bad my lag was in most MMORPG's I play. Believe me. I have tried everything to reduce my latency, and fix my lag in MMORPG's. I have updated my drivers, defrag my hard drive, fix registry errors, run virus and malware programs, and I still would get the same lag.

I than discovered this free download that reduces lag, and made my MMORPG gaming experience very enjoyable. I went from the bottom of the leaderboard to the top. I am always getting the most killing blows. You would have to be crazy to not use this free download to fix any lag you have in MMORPG's.

What are you waiting for? Download it for free right now before you respawn in the graveyard again.

Making Money On A Gaming Blog

Today I am writing about some things about making money blogging about gaming that just blow my mind. Do you ever do something, and later on are amazed at the results? I am really amazed at the results of some things I have blogged about on either Wasdstomp, Warhammer Gaming Headquarters, or Aion Tavern which are all my gaming blogs that I could of made a small fortune on easily.

It is funny when I am writing my posts I usually have a feeling on what is going to bring alot of traffic, or alot of comments. At least that is what I think while writing them, but time after time it is posts I never even thought would be hits get pounded by Google every day.

My Aion posts that are now coming up on almost a year old are my biggest daily traffic from Google. I thought no one even played the game any longer, but when viewing my Google Analytics it drives most of my traffic every day. I would of never thought that in a million years.

So what did I write about that brings the bulk of my traffic. Pure and simple. It is guides, and walkthroughs. Players love them. No one likes to figure stuff out on their own any more. The days of wiping a million times to find a strat died with VHS, and also players like to have their hands held when playing a new game.

Of course I write plenty of blog posts that gets tons of interaction, and comments from my readers. The problem with those is they are one day wonders. No one ever googles those posts. Players are looking for information, and strats not my daily rants, and negativity which normally shows up in all my posts.

Another thing in case you wonder what drives my traffic is all my Youtube videos. My videos still get hundreds of hits a day. Players love them. Once again it is mostly my guides, and walkthroughs that players continue to view every day on Youtube.

My Aion Video Leveling Guide seven part series alone has over 20k views, and my Tomb of the Vulture Lord PTS walkthrough also has around 10k hits. My Allods Online videos also get lots of views every single day. This is money I let just fly away by not monetizing my stuff.

So how do you make money on a gaming blog? I can tell you from experience it isn't from ads on your site. Yes, I have them on my gaming blogs, but it really is laughable. I literally make less than a buck a day. I am not going to be quitting my day job any time soon with that kind of income.

I have hinted on the way already to make money on gaming blogs. I haven't personally done it myself yet, but it is a project I am currently working on. You need to make guides, and walkthroughs. Make ebooks, or videos for games with information players want. It is what players crave. I am not talking about selling them for $49.95, but dirt cheap like $5.95 or $9.95.

How much money do you think I would have right now if I would of marketed my Aion Video leveling guides for $5.95. By doing some rough math it would of been over $100k for just one video leveling guide that I literally made in about 5 days.

The opportunity is out there. You have Guild Wars 2, SWTOR, Cataclysm, Rift, Tera, and more coming out in 2011. Are you ready to make your fortune?

I have a serious debate with myself over this issue alot. I see so many blogrolls out there with just the blog name. Is that really going to make me click on bestgamesever? I highly doubt it. I know I never click on someones blogroll so what makes me think someone visiting my site is going to?

I know blogging is all about building relationships with other bloggers, but is that really helping them? After researching my referrals I see that I rarely get one from someones blogroll. I think the word rarely is putting it nicely. I don't think out of thousands of visitors 3-5 referrals is really worth it.

I now use Zemanta which makes it so easy to link other bloggers. This is what helps your fellow bloggers. My best example is how I have given Hoschisblog thousands of hits because my blog is found before his. If I wouldn't of linked him months ago he probably wouldn't be getting any hits to his Aion Dark Poeta walkthrough.

How many visitors do you think he got from my blogroll? Probably no more than what you can count on one hand. By linking you are helping them with Google ranking, and getting them additional visitors from your blog.

I suggest removing blogrolls from your blog, and instead either using Zemanta to automate linking to other blogs, and manually linking other blogs in your posts.

There are no minimum payouts, and you get paid every month. How sweet is that? I have fallen in love with Mountain View Clicks. It is what I originally imagined Google Adsense was going to earn me.

You can see my new ads in action on my gaming blog Wasdstomp. It is really simple to get started, and have ads on your site within minutes.

The best part of Mountain View clicks is you earn a lifetime residual income from anyone that signs up. It is a win-win for everyone. If you would like to start earning 30% from everyone you sign up visit here.

It is very useful. It automatically finds images to use on your post taken from words directly from your articles. You can link words automatically in your posts. You can link to other bloggers, and add your blog URL to the Zemanta database for other bloggers to link to you with related articles.

I think Zemanta is the best free tool out there for helping with your blog.

I did absolutely ZERO guest posts, or posting articles on Ezine or any other article marketing blog. My pagerank for my gaming blog went to PR3, and I checked some other blogs who guest posted a bunch, and guess what? They are PR3 too.

All I did was post comments on other blogs, and gaming forums. That is it. I didn't spend hours, and hours putting guest posts on blogs that Google didn't care about.

I instead wrote on my blog what I really felt. I didn't write for SEO, or PR. I wrote my true feelings. I wrote about what I felt like writing about. I stopped using links in my posts for the most parts. I just wrote whatever I felt like writing about. This is what built my community from 25 visits a day to almost 200 a day.

What did this do? It made my gaming blog Wasdstomp that much better. It made me realize it is about writing your feelings, and not what might get Googled in a search query.

I also realized everything is about relationships. I got so infatuated with exit rates, time on site, hot spots, google analytics, and etc that I really lost track of why I was really blogging about gaming. It is totally about building relationships with other bloggers, and your actual community of players who leave comments.

You may find I have changed my thoughts on alot of things I originally blogged about on this blog, and I am sorry for misleading gaming bloggers.

Some of the blog authors I know that did alot of article marketing, and guest posting are at the same pagerank of my gaming blog that is 3 months old with no article marketing, or guest posting.

check them out at notaproblog.com, theinfopreneur.net, and wakeupcloud.com. I say from my current pagerank, and theirs that it is best to write what you think, and stop thinking about SEO, article marketing, guest posting. It is just a huge scam, and doesn't really increase your pagerank. The best thing to increase your pagerank is creating articles on your own blog.

A free subscription leads to getting subscriptions easier. Is someone really reading all your content, or did they subscribe to 500 different feeds? Does the subscription being free actually give you a false sense of success for your blog? Would you rather have a free subscriber, or someone who is paying to subscribe?

I would prefer a paying subscriber. I think they would be taking that extra step to show that yes they actually do appreciate your content. Otherwise it is way to easy for people to subscribe to every feed out there. Do you think they are really reading your articles? How many are just scrolling through to clear the counter on their feed reader?

How accurate are subscription numbers? Is it really showing active subscribers, or just someone one day who subscribed, but never loads up his feed reader again? Are people judging your blog by the amount of your subscribers, and not your content?

Do older blogs simply have the advantage because they have had more time to accumulate subscribers. Do you really think all 10k subscribers are still active after 5 years? Are bloggers using this number to their advantage, but know truthfully that their active subscriber base may only be 500?

I think most people who subscribe, and lose interest never unsubscribe to any blog. It would be interesting to see subscriber numbers on blogs reflect only people who have visited that blog in the last month.

What do you think about your subscription numbers?

GETTING A DOMAIN FOR YOUR BLOG

Are you making sure you are building a strong root system by having your own domain? A unique domain will do wonders for your blog. A dot blogspot, or dot wordpress blog tells people you aren't serious enough about your blog to get your own domain. You are telling people that you are to cheap to spend around $10 for your own domain. Some people may skip right over your search results when they see those extensions on the URL.

FERTILIZING YOUR BLOG

Are you adding fertilizer to feed your blog essential nutrients to grow? Your blog fertilizer is responding to comments. Every comment needs to be responded too in a timely fashion. You want the conversation to continue, and build your community. If you don't fertilize your blog it will just blend in with the other million blogs on the internet.

STRENGTHENING YOUR BLOG

Are you using a tomato cage to help strengthen your blog? Accepting guest posts is the tomato cage of your blog. You want to add additional support to make your blog become even stronger. The stronger it becomes the more fruit it will produce in the long run.

EXPOSING YOUR BLOG TO SUNSHINE

Are you exposing your blog to the most sunshine it can get? A tomato plant thrives with sunshine, and so will your blog. Twitter is the sunshine of your blog. You need to be active on Twitter posting tweets about your posts, posts on other blogs within your niche, replying to other Tweets, interacting with your followers, and more. The more sunshine you expose your blog the more it will grow, and produce the best results.

NOURISHING YOUR BLOG

Are you watering your blog every day? You must create content every day, just like watering a tomato plant. A blog without fresh, and new content will die just like a tomato plant without water.

It is the four biggest keys to blogging success in my eyes. Do you doubt me? It is time to step away from your computer for a few hours, and turn on the Winter Olympics.

INSPIRATION

Do you need some inspiration to keep blogging? I watched an interview from an Olympian today that had me in tears. A young skater with dreams of the Olympics was basically crushed with one accident.

He accidentally gashed his leg with his own ice skate. The cut went across his leg above his knee. The cut was six inches long, and two inches deep. He was very close to cutting his main artery, and possibly bleeding to death.

He wanted to give up. His mother arrived at the hospital, and he told her “It is Over.” He was basically giving up on his dreams of skating. A few weeks went by, and he went back out onto the ice. It was then that he realized he could overcome his accident, and still pursue making the Winter Olympics.

Does this remind you of your blog? Are you giving up that easy? Are you already saying “It is over” to yourself, or are you going to get back onto the ice and reach your goals of blogging success?

PASSION

The Olympic athletes in the Winter Olympics define what passion is all about. They love what they do, and will do anything to bring home the gold. Do you have passion for your blog? Would you put in the hours like these athletes. Are you willing to sacrifice time to win the gold for your blog?

Blogging is no different than an Olympic athletes passion. Every athlete you watch believes they have what it takes to win the gold. They have worked around the clock for the past few years to reach this point. They truly believe they are the best. They have replayed visions in their mind of crossing the finish line first over, and over. They already know what it feels like to win it all from these dreams. They absolutely love what they do.

Do you have these kinds of visions of your blog? Do you have enough passion to see your blog have the success you always dreamed about? Do you find your blog feeling like a job, or is it fun?

DREAMS

You only have to listen to, and watch these Olympic athletes to know their dreams. They know what they want. It is about winning the gold for their country. They think about it every minute of the day. They can only see them with the gold medal around their necks while their own countries national anthem plays. It is something you would never forget.

Do you have a dream about being the best blog? Do you think of your blog every minute you are awake? Do you have what it takes to win the gold medal? How big are your dreams?

Without dreams your blog will not succeed. You must clearly know what you have to do to accomplish your dreams. Is it commenting more, guest posting, being more consistent, creating great content, or applying things you read about having a successful blog? You can't fulfill your dreams by sitting around, and doing nothing, and think magically you will have ten thousand subscribers.

GOALS

Every Olympic athlete had many goals to reach the Olympics. It may have started to win the trials, qualifying, and than the actual gold medal event. Where do you think these Olympic athletes would be without setting goals? It is goals that drive people to succeed.

Are you setting short, and long term goals for your blog? Are they realistic goals that can be achieved? I suggest starting off with some simple goals. Make a commitment to post once a week to Ezine, one guest post a week, twenty comments a day, and one post on your blog that packs great content.

You need to keep pushing yourself. Once you reach goals, and you start feeling comfortable it's time to reevaluate your goals. You need to keep making strides to improve. Make it two articles to Ezine, three guest posts, thirty comments, and etc.

SUMMARY

After watching many hours of the Olympics this past weekend it has done nothing, but inspire me. I don't even care about my own country winning a gold medal. I just love watching the person who does win the gold. It is heartwarming, and brings tears to my eyes. They all deserve the gold, and no one can take away that once in a lifetime feeling when it happens.

If you answered no than I suggest you start if you want to become successful. It is very important that you take a step by step approach to your blog just like when you tackle putting a jigsaw puzzle together.

The first step in putting together a puzzle is laying out all the pieces. This is similar to brainstorming, and coming up with different ideas and your niche. Each piece is different than each other. Your posts on your blog need to be the same way.

The second step is finding all the straight edged pieces that will make the outer frame of the puzzle. This frame builds the foundation to make your blog grow. You have to initially have some great content to launch your blog. It is much harder to build a puzzle without it.

The third step is separating all the pieces into like pieces. You want all pieces that are similar grouped together to make finding pieces easier. Does it have one, two, or three prongs? This is just like organizing your blog into categories. You want it easier for your readers to find what they are looking for. It will save them time, and lead to less frustration.

The fourth step is building the puzzle piece by piece until you fit the last piece into the puzzle. Your blog is no different. You have to build it one post at a time. There are no shortcuts to completing the puzzle. It is each puzzle piece, or blog post that gets you closer to reaching your goal.

The fifth step is taking the puzzle apart, and starting again. Each time you do the puzzle it will get easier. Your blog is the same way. Once you reach a goal or complete the puzzle you need to set a new goal. Each goal will be easier to achieve each time you do it because of the experience, and things you have learned from your previous goals.

Are you being persistent just like a blackberry bush?

You need your blog to be just like a blackberry bush. You know what I am talking about right? Those crazy blackberry bushes no matter what you do that persist on successfully growing back. It doesn't matter if you dig them up, burn them, put a triple dose of weed killer on them they come back.

Your blog needs to be a blackberry bush. You cannot give up. No matter what happens if you have persistence your blackberry bush will grow back, and produce fruit year after year. It will branch out just like your guest blog posts on other blogs will.

You need to be able to overcome obstacles just like a blackberry bush. You cannot let small things get you down like getting just a few comments, low traffic, and etc. You have to keep pushing forward. You have to be that blackberry bush that finds a way to dig deep, and keep growing back.

A blackberry bush doesn't just appear overnight. It takes time to grow, and branch out. It is the same with your blog. It takes lots of time, and persistence to have a successful blog.

YOUR BEST ARTICLE IS ON YOUR GAMING BLOG FRONT PAGE FOR THREE DAYS

This is the best part of saving your best for Friday. Most bloggers take the weekend off from writing. This gives the article you publish on Friday extra time on your front page to get additional readers, and comments. It gives your readers a whole weekend to see your best work.

I created my Buzz account today, and added it to my gaming blogs so anyone can follow me. So what does it offer that makes it stand out, or enhance my current social media?

I am still learning all the features, but a few are worth creating a buzz about today.

I like how you can automatically share things with your followers. I no longer have to Tweet about this blog post, retweet this article, or post links all over my blog to subscribe to RSS, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, pictures and whatever else.

It is my own social media feed that is all automated. Doesn't everyone like to save time? Isn't it nice to have everything in one place?

Buzz will help build relationships within your gaming blog community. You will be featuring their articles, and yours will be featured on theirs. It will automatically expose your gaming blog to many eyes that would of never seen it otherwise. It has the power of retweeting automatically built in. It is a blogroll without having a blogroll.

You can carry on conversations easily with a threaded type Twitter that has no 140 character limitations. The threading definitely is better than how Twitter currently works.

I love Google Buzz so far, and I highly recommend that everyone uses it for their gaming blog.

Please feel free to leave a comment about what you think about the importance of using Google Buzz on your gaming blog, or other blog. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Google Buzz, follow me on Twitter, become a Facebook fan, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

The question is how do you get visitors to become subscribers? This is where everything you do becomes a deciding factor on someone clicking on the subscribe button.

CREATING GREAT CONTENT

This is probably the most important of all. No one is going to subscribe to a boring gaming blog. Make sure your content is unique, and sets your blog apart from all the other gaming blogs out there. Always create articles that show your true feelings, and opinions. Please avoid the common mistake of most gaming blogs that are just reporting the news.

BEING ACTIVE IN THE COMMENTS

This is also very crucial. People like to know that someone is actually reading their comments. They appreciate the conversation when you reply back to them. Make sure to always try to keep the conversation going so that others actively leave, or reply to comments too. I suggest adding Disqus to your gaming blog so your comments are threaded, and it makes it simple for anyone to follow comments on any article. Be sure to address any comments by their names when replying. People love to hear, and see their names.

HIGHLY VISIBLE SUBSCRIPTION LINKS

You must make it so that people know how to subscribe to your gaming blog. In many cases it is best to do it in several locations on your blog. I have a highly colorful logo in the top right hand corner asking people to subscribe. I have recently added a subscription request at the bottom of every post now. By simply doing that my subscription numbers have dramatically increased.

POSTING NEW ARTICLES FREQUENTLY

You want people to feel that they are receiving value from subscribing. You want to at least post an article every day on your gaming blog except weekends. This makes your subscribers feel that the time they took out of their day to subscribe was well worth it. If you go days, or weeks without posting anything new you will lose all your loyal subscribers.

BEING ACTIVE ON TWITTER

This is the easiest way to let your readers see your personality outside of just reading your articles. It is how you can build relationships, and friendships with your followers. It lets everyone see you from a different light. You can step a little out of the box, and talk about things other than just games.

Please feel free to leave a comment about what you think about the importance of subscribers to your gaming blog, or other blog. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, become a Facebook fan, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

Why not break them up, and analyze them piece by piece? Explain why you hate the removal of scenarios, a cooldown being increased, pvp changes, or a nerf. I already read about the changes with the official announcement, but tell me why you think the removal of scenarios will kill the game, or maybe you think it will make the game better. Convince me to either agree, or disagree with you on your gaming blog.

Your gaming blog is your voice. It is your chance to show people how you feel, and define yourself as a gaming blogger. No one cares if you are the first to post the patch notes. I can read them on the official site if I just wanted to read them.

Make a reason for me to visit your gaming blog. Make me hate, or love your ideas.

Please feel free to leave a comment about what you think about gaming bloggers who just cut and paste official game announcements, and not put their own spin on articles. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, become a Facebook fan, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

The best part is when a gaming blogger goes MIA, and than weeks later you see a post titled something like "Sorry been busy. I will start posting again".

It is okay to admit that you don't want to blog any longer. Just write a final goodbye post, and be done with it.

Blogging is no different than if you had a brick and mortar store. You can't decide for a month to keep your store closed with no warning, no updates, and expect a month or two later for people to be breaking down your doors to do business with you again. Just put up your Going out of Business sign, and a week later you can walk away.

Please feel free to leave a comment about what you think about gaming bloggers who go MIA. Do you give them a second chance? Do you remove their feed from your reader? I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, become a Facebook fan, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

So what is social media? Currently I have a few favorites which I use exclusively for my gaming blog. I believe every gaming blog should use Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.

All three are very critical at making you a successful gaming blogger. Social media can reach more people than a Superbowl commercial, and the best part is all of them are free.

Have you ever heard of marketing something for free? It was unheard of until Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube launched.

I have already talked about how Twitter is the best free marketing tool for your gaming blog. It is my favorite of all social media I use currently for my gaming blog.

Make sure to have a Youtube account for your gaming blog. Currently my videos have thousands of views. I am expanding my videos by doing personal videos soon. My most viewed videos are of my Aion Leveling guides which shows step by step video on leveling.

You also need to set up a Facebook Fan Page. This is different than just a profile. A fan page will let you have unlimited amounts of fans instead of your profile which limits you to 5000 friends. This will be important later on when building your gaming blog empire. I just recently converted my profile to a fan page myself.

Please feel free to leave a comment about you becoming a social media rockstar for your gaming blog. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, become a Facebook fan, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

The best way is to make sure you have an image, or logo they see every time they visit your gaming blog. This helps with the overall branding of your gaming blog.

Just look at how many gaming blogs out there that just use the standard text format for their blog title. They have no graphics to pull their visitors in, or give them any kind of brand recognition. It looks just like the other million gaming blogs on the internet.

You need your gaming blog to stand out. You want your visitors to associate your blog with your logo, or image branding. It makes your gaming blog look much more professional, and not just a generic cut and paste blog. Anyone that visits Red Eye Blogging knows that my blog shows an image of an eye that is red. No other blog out there looks like mine.

My visitors will remember visiting my blog. It gives my readers something to associate with my blog.

Please feel free to leave a comment about how you think a logo or image plays a role in brand recognition for your gaming blog. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

What is Passion for my gaming blog?

I feel passion is waking up in the morning, and loving what you do. It is doing something you feel is fun, and not work.

I know I love computers, and gaming. It is something I have loved since I was a little kid. I made my first text based game on my Commodore 64 when I was around 12 years old. I made games on my Apple II. I played games on Intellivision, Colecovision, Dreamcast, Atari, and the list keeps going. I have never stopped loving playing games.

I love talking about games, and playing them. It is when I discovered that I could blog that I made my first gaming blog about Warhammer Online.

Why I have worked in Retail Grocery my whole life is beyond me. I have always hated it. Computers has always been my passion, and will be till the day I die.

Do I really have Passion for my gaming blog?

How do I know that it is passion, and not just an infatuation? Measuring passion is actually pretty easy. Do you think about it throughout the day while at work? Do you think about it every waking moment? Do you wake up in the middle of the night with ideas?

If you answered yes to the above questions than you have passion. This passion is what will drive you to succeed as a gaming blogger. It doesn't matter how many times you post comments, twitter, or whatever. If you have passion you cannot fail. It is passion that drives you to be the most successful gaming blogger out there.

Why do I need Passion for a gaming blog?

Without passion your gaming blog will fail. You have to absolutely love writing posts, and everything about your gaming blog. If you lose your passion it will show in the content of your posts. Your readers can see right through someone who doesn't have passion.

How do I tell if a gaming blogger has passion? It is the ones that post their true feelings on their gaming blogs. How many times have you seen gaming bloggers kissing up to gaming companies? They never say a negative word about any game.

They are afraid to make anyone of their readers or subscribers mad? Is that really passion? I don't think so. You are writing what you think people want to hear instead of what you truly feel, and are passionate about. Writing about your true feelings is what passion is all about, and writing without it you will ultimately see your gaming blog fail.

Will Passion alone make my gaming blog successful?

SHORTENS YOUR GAMING BLOG URL

Of course the obvious part that makes bit.ly great is it will take your huge gaming blog URL, and shorten it down. This makes it great for Twitter. You always want to keep your tweets short so it makes it easier for anyone to retweet your gaming blog tweets. It also gives you more room to tweet without the URL taking up half of your 140 characters.

PREVENTS JUDGING YOUR GAMING BLOG BY YOUR URL

It causes people to not make a pre-judgment on your tweet, facebook, forum signature just by your gaming blog URL. A shortened URL in my experiences gets more clicks. The shortened URL makes people just a little bit more curious.

MAKES IT EASY TO CROSS PROMOTE YOUR GAMING BLOG POST

It makes it easy to share your bit.ly shortened URL's on Facebook, Twitter, and Email for your gaming blog.

EASILY SEE ANALYTICS FOR YOUR GAMING BLOG

It has a built in analytics so you can see how many clicks you received, retweets, referrers, and other interesting data for the marketing of your gaming blog.

With my own gaming blogs I have tried many different things, and I will share them with you on what I felt worked, and what I decided didn't work for me.

LINKING YOUR OWN ARTICLES

I found this one of the best ways to link on my gaming blogs. It is real easy to point to other articles of your own gaming blog within one of your own posts. It lets visitors read other content of yours, and navigate easily through your gaming blog.

I also like linking between my gaming blogs when it is feasible. This way I am attracting visitors to all my gaming blogs. I can also interlink this blog with my gaming blogs because of their common niche.

LINKING TO OFFICIAL GAME SITES

I initially started my gaming blogs linking to everything official. It was a little repetitive, and I am not sure that anyone really clicked on them anyways. I linked to the homepages of Aion, World of Warcraft, Warhammer Online, and etc. Why would anyone click on those links anyways? Everyone knows the official website of the games they play.

Why do I want to send people away from my own gaming blog if they do happen to click on it?

LINKING TO AFFILIATE LINKS

I tried this out, and I don't really recommend using affiliate links for your gaming blog. I received quite a few click throughs, but no one actually ever bought anything. It seemed to take away from the value of the content on my posts.

I think it is better to build relationships, and trust within your blogging community first. I think a much better way is to promote your own ebooks, products, and not affiliate products.

LINKING TO OTHER GAMING BLOGS

I still have mixed feelings on this one. It is great to show link love to fellow gaming bloggers, but is it worth someone leaving your blog? If the other gaming blogger returns the favor, and links back to you in a future post than I can see the benefit. How do you know that they will?

LINKING TO VIDEOS

It is a great way to add value to your blog by having videos. I find that embedding videos in your gaming blog works much better than just posting a link. It just makes your posts on your gaming blog more visually appealing.

Please feel free to leave a comment. I appreciate every comment my readers leave, and reply to all comments. Be sure to follow me on Twitter, and subscribe to my free RSS Feed to become part of the Red Eye Blogging Community.

PvP Videos

Players enjoy watching videos of pvp fights. Every video you can make, and post on Youtube will help bring you new visitors to your gaming blog. I use Fraps to record any of my in-game pvp videos I post on Youtube.

Boss/Dungeon Videos

Guilds use these videos all the time for raiding. If you create some great walkthroughs of some boss fights you will get so many new visitors to your gaming blog.

Leveling Guide Videos

Players love being able to follow a video guide on how to level their characters. It makes it really simple to watch a person in-game. It makes it easy to identify quest givers, mobs to kill, areas to go, and etc. Add a written guide on your gaming blog to compliment the video.

Webcam/Camcorder Videos

Let players see your personality by doing your own video on your gaming blog. You can talk about anything you think players will want to watch. It really gives your gaming blog a personal touch.

I would get rid of all the unnecessary clutter immediately. Ask yourself if it is really something you need on your gaming blog. I suggest you stick with the basics to help keep your gaming blog clutter free.

Gaming Blog Clutter Free Basics
--------------------------------------------------------

-About Me Profile

Make sure you fill out your gaming blog profile so your readers can read about you. People like to know about you.

-RSS Feed Subscribe Button

This makes it easy for subscribers to your gaming blog to read your content via their feed reader. It must be highly visible on your gaming blog to increase your subscriptions.

-Twitter Follower Button

This helps you grow the amount of followers you have on Twitter for your gaming blog to build friendships, and relationships with other bloggers, and gamers.

-Popular Posts

This lets your readers easily navigate to other great articles on your gaming blog. You want anyone that comes to your gaming blog to know you have more content than what they just came for.

-Most Commented Posts

This shows your readers that your gaming blog has a great community, and is full of activity which will lead to even more people leaving comments.

-Favorite Posts

This lets readers see what you think were some of your better articles on your gaming blog. It is a way to highlight even more articles on your gaming blog.

-Article Categories

This is much better than a Blog Archive you find on most gaming blogs. It makes finding content much easier on your gaming blog. Just utilize the labels when creating articles to easily categorize them.

-Show at least 3 articles on home page

This lets your readers see three different articles on your gaming blog to earn their readership initially. It makes your gaming blog feel like it has content.

-Ebook if you have one to promote

If you are selling, or giving away an ebook your gaming blog is a great way to showcase it.

If you have ever held a garage sale you will know what I mean. I have had several, and each time I am amazed at the results. What am I talking about?

It never fails that the items that I think are junk people buy first. Why do people buy broken console systems, phones, answering machines, and etc? What are they seeing in these items that we aren't?

How about all those nice things you put in your garage sale, and no one is interested. I put a brand new flat screen monitor out for $50, unopened. I paid $150, and figured it would sell super fast. It ended up not selling the whole weekend. Why?

Your gaming blog is no different. You keep hearing all these probloggers talk that you always have to produce great content, and visitors will come. I don't believe it.

You just need to make content on your gaming blog. Every post doesn't need to be great. It is no different than someone buying a broken phone for $2. People get value out of posts that you may not think are your greatest posts on your gaming blog.

Are you doubting me?

Have you ever looked at your most popular posts? Do you say to yourself why are so many people visiting that page? How about that post you spent three days tweaking to greatness to see it not getting any visitors?

I love Twitter. I think Twitter is one of the best marketing tools out there right now for your gaming blog if used properly to promote your blog. I just see some gaming bloggers to scared to lose a follower, or hurt a developers feeling by making negative comments about the game.

The problem I have noticed lately are gaming bloggers becoming really friendly with game developers on Twitter. If you are chatting every day on Twitter with them how are you going to ever say something bad about the game? Are you going to lose trust with your readers because they feel your posts, or thoughts about the game are being influenced by your friendship on Twitter? How do you know when you are crossing the line?

I just see more and more game bloggers on Twitter getting a little too friendly in my eyes with some developers. Some of these same gaming bloggers have transformed over night. All you see now are posts about how great the game is from the devs they chat with non stop every day. It really is sickening.

Is it just a coincidence?
