STUDY: SNL Jokes About Conservatives Jump To 91 Percent In Season 51 #Political

Season 51 of NBC’s Saturday Night Live recently came to an end, and it was considerably more liberal than Season 50. A new NewsBusters study has found that 91 percent of the season’s Weekend Update jokes were directed at conservatives, while 81 percent of its cold open political characters were conservatives or Republicans.

For this study, NewsBusters analysts examined all 20 shows of the season from October 4, 2025, through May 16, 2026.

Weekend Update

MRC analysts found that Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che combined to tell 217 out of 238 jokes (91 percent) about conservatives during Season 51. They also told 18 about liberals and three non-partisan jokes. This included 32 separate conservative, 13 liberal, and three non-partisan targets.

Jost and Che’s top ten targets included only one liberal. The list featured Donald Trump (108), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (15), Kristi Noem (12), Tucker Carlson (11), George Santos (10), Melania Trump (7), JD Vance (7), Andrew Cuomo (5), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (5), and Kash Patel (5).

By joking about Cuomo, SNL helped boost the even further-left Zohran Mamdani in New York City's mayoral election. Additionally, in the middle of every Weekend Update, another cast member joins Jost and Che to play an absurd character, with Jost or Che acting as the straight man in the scenario. Occasionally, these are political, such as Jeremy Culhane appearing as Tucker Carlson on two occasions that made it seem as if Carlson is still best known for being a conservative culture warrior, and not someone who is constantly smearing Israel, bashing Trump, and making excuses for America’s enemies.

Here are some samples of Jost and Che’s most anti-conservative jokes from the past season.

Tom Homan called on local leaders in Minneapolis to work with ICE agents to tone down the dangerous rhetoric, because all that rhetoric just distracts agents from their main aim: anyone filming. – Che

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz compared the Trump administration's immigration crackdown to the Nazi occupation described The Diary of Anne Frank, but remember this administration has always ignored the stories told by young girls. – Jost

A federal judge on Friday ordered ICE agents in Minnesota not to retaliate against peaceful protesters. But if ICE agents listened to judges, then their ex-wives would be getting those checks for child support. – Jost

Argentine President Javier Milei, seen asking if he makes you horny baby, met with President Trump at the White House this week, where Trump announced he's sending $40 billion to Argentina, because if history is any guide, Trump officials will end up fleeing to Argentina. – Jost

Islamophobia, Che. How dare you. How dare you, Che. I'm not Islamophobic. Okay? I'm just scared of all Muslim people. – Sarah Sherman playing a paranoid and delusional Mamdani critic

President Trump has rejected Iran's latest demands to end the war, including recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz and U.S. war reparations. You want reparations from America? Get in line, honey. – Che

MRC President David Bozell said in a statement, “Michael Jordan famously said, ‘Republicans buy sneakers, too.’ Entertainment companies once understood that alienating half the country was probably not a great business model. Nobody is asking SNL to become conservative, but when every political punchline is nothing more than all Trump Derangement Syndrome all the time, SNL risks turning itself into a caricature of their own political obsessions.”

NewsBusters started counting Jost and Che’s jokes at the end of Season 50. Their two year total now stands at 420 jokes about conservatives, 64 about liberals, and four non-partisan jokes. That is a two-year average of 86 percent for jokes directed against conservatives.

Cold Opens

MRC analysts also looked at the cold open skits at the beginning of every episode and found that conservative or Republican characters appeared 54 times, or 83 percent of the time. By contrast, liberal characters appeared only 10 times. Finally, CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper made an appearance as the only non-partisan character.

In addition to Cooper, this included 23 unique conservative and 9 unique liberal characters. The last liberal character to show up was on season’s eighth episode on December 13.

Only one liberal character appeared multiple times. Characters that did appear multiple times included James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump (13), Colin Jost’s Pete Hegseth (10), Ashley Padilla’s Kristi Noem (5), Padilla’s Karoline Leavitt (4), Jeremy Culhane’s JD Vance (3), Aziz Ansari’s Kash Patel (3), Chloe Fineman’s Kaitlan Collins (2), and Padilla/Amy Poehler’s Pam Bondi (2).

The Kaitlan Collins character was not there to be a satirization of Collins or CNN but rather because the Republican characters needed a generic reporter to interact with. Additionally, three Democratic senators—Sheldon Whitehouse, Amy Klobuchar, and Dick Durbin—were portrayed in a way that made them look normal compared to former Attorney General Pam Bondi

The two-year cold open tally now sits at 70 percent of characters being conservative or Republican with a total of 94 conservatives, 39 liberals, and one non-partisan with 28 Trump appearances on 41 total episodes.

At the end of every SNL season, there are rumors about which cast members will not be back in the fall. Last year, rumors were everywhere that Jost and Che would not return, but they ultimately did. Already, those rumors are starting again, but any possible change in anchors will probably not lead to a change in partisan agenda.

NBC Miscasts CBS Ownership as Partisan Actor as Colbert Eulogies Begin #Political

In an effort to cast Stephen Colbert as a martyr for free speech ahead of the imminent cancellation of The Late Show, NBC’s Sunday Today sought to cast the owner of CBS’s parent company as "a prominent Trump supporter.” Except that this isn’t true.

Watch as NBC entertainment correspondent Chloe Melas suggests that CBS is owned by MAGA, casts doubts on the financial rationale behind the cancellation of The Late Show, and then brings on a media critic to bolster her point of view:

CBS called the cancellation a purely financial decision and not related in any way to the show's performance. But that statement doesn't ring true to everyone. Brian Lowry is a media veteran reporter.

BRIAN LOWRY: There was a sense the studio was eager to curry favor with the Trump administration.

The idea of Ellison as “prominent Trump supporter” makes for good narrative ahead of Colbert’s cancellation. But it simply isn’t true. As our own Brent Baker noted, in 2024 Ellison donated $929,000 to the Biden Victory Fund. AS CNBC noted, this was “the largest recorded contribution that the Skydance Media CEO ever made to a federal candidate.” Not very MAGA. Also, not very accurate.

The Ellison MAGA rebrand is an important element in the ongoing canonization of late-night comics to Resistance™ sainthood. In Colbert’s particular case this narrative is useful inasmuch as it helps brush off the financial reality of the show as a key element of its cancellation.

The rest of the segment is as syrupy as expected- an in vivo eulogy of Colbert, the free speech martyr cast down by the evil Trump. There is, of course, no mention of the broader political degeneration of our broader culture- including comedy. Viewers now get all of the politics with very little comedy.

Today is just the beginning. Expect more of the same, building to a vomitous crescendo ahead of Colbert’s CBS finale.

WILLIE GEIST: On Thursday night, Stephen Colbert will host his final Late Show on CBS. He got the job 11 years ago, after the legendary David Letterman retired from the world of late-night comedy he helped to create. CBS cited financial losses in announcing the end of Colbert’s run. But last summer’s decision came as the network's parent company Paramount was working to close a merger that required approval from the Trump administration, a nightly target of Colbert. That deal was approved one week after Colbert's show was canceled. NBC News entertainment correspondent Chloe Melas has more in our Sunday Focus.

CHLOE MELAS: Last year, Steven Colbert delivered a monologue that certainly wasn't funny. The host of the top-rated show on late night TV announcing his Late Show was being canceled.

STEPHEN COLBERT: It's not just the end of our show but it's the end of the Late Show on CBS. I'm not being replaced. This is all just going away.

MELAS: Colbert has been a frequent critic through the years of President Trump.

COLBERT: But who better to gamble with our economy than somebody who bankrupted his own casino?

MELAS: CBS was recently acquired by Skydance Media, whose owner David Ellison is a prominent Trump supporter. CBS called the cancellation a purely financial decision and not related in any way to the show's performance. But that statement doesn't ring true to everyone. MELAS: Colbert isn't the only late-night TV host who has drawn the wrath of President Trump. ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel was briefly taken off the air last year following his commentary on Charlie Kirk's killing. He apologized after his return.

JIMMY KIMMEL: It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man.

MELAS: The President and First Lady called for Kimmel to be fired, after he made a joke about the couple's age difference, saying Melania looks like a, quote, “expectant widow”, a couple of days before a gunman tried to breach the White House Correspondents' Dinner. This week, Kimmel joining Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Fallon, the biggest names in late night, to support their friend.

COLBERT: Is there anything we have not touched on before we move on to this -- I’m curious…

KIMMEL: Are you outraged that your show is being thrown off the air?

MELAS: Original host David Letterman also stopping by melancholy with words of wisdom.

DAVID LETTERMAN: You can take a man's show. You can't take a man's voice. So that's the good news you need.

MELAS: The two also recreating an old Letterman bit: throwing things off the roof.

LETTERMAN: How many hours have you (and you ass) spent in that chair?

COLBERT: Oh, uh- 1,810 shows.

LETTERMAN: Here we go.

COLBERT: Here we go.

LETTERMAN: All right. Let's give it a go.

MELAS: Colbert sat down with Willie back in 2024.

GEIST: So where does the comedy come in for you?

COLBERT: I'm the youngest of 11. And, you know, comedy was -- it was, like, a homocracy. Whoever the funniest person in the room at the moment was was the king.

MELAS: So what's next for Colbert? Earlier this month, President Obama had some thoughts.

COLBERT: I'm looking for a new gig soon. A lot of people tell me I should run for president.

BARACK OBAMA: Well, you have the look.

COLBERT: Thank you very much.

MELAS: And in a final show of solidarity, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon will go dark on Thursday, airing reruns on The Late Show’s final night on the air.

GEIST: And Chloe joins me now live. Chloe, good morning. Great to see you. My sources tell me you are a former Colbert intern. Bringing a little extra insight to this one. So with only four nights left for Stephen, what comes next for Colbert and for his time slot?

MELAS: Willie, well, your sources- they are correct. I indeed interned for Stephen back in 2008 during the Colbert Report days at Comedy Central. And a lot of that staff followed Stephen to The Late Show. As for what happens next, CBS announced that Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed will take over under a one-year agreement, and the financial structure is unique. CBS leasing the hour while Allen takes on the cost of producing the show in return for the ad revenue. Colbert’s final week will feature the worst of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday. Tuesday brings Jon Stewart and Steven Spielberg, plus a performance with David Byrne. Wednesday night, the one and only Bruce Springsteen takes the stage. But no word yet on what’s planned for Thursday's final show. Though if history is any guide, expect some surprises and a few emotional good-byes. Willie.

Morning Joe's Heilemann: 'MAGA Base' Wants 'Brown People Sent Out of the Country' #Political

On Friday’s Morning Joe, the MS NOW liberal morning program discussed a possible ramp-up of immigration enforcement and deportations in the coming months, as frequent panelist and Puck News partner John Heilemann told co-host Mika Brzezinski that the “MAGA base” wanted more deportations and “they want to see more brown people sent out of the country.”

The segment focused on a The Washington Post report on DHS and ICE usage of new warehouse centers as ICE detention sites.

The show’s 9 a.m. host, Jonathan Lemire, said the administration was “telegraphing” a new deportation plan. He agreed with earlier Heilemann comments that the plan would be a mistake.

Lemire said, “But there is a sense in the Trump administration they are going to ramp this back up. They think this is a signature promise. And I agree with John's analysis. This would be a political mistake.”

He also insinuated Trump wanted another immigration fight:

But there are some in Trump's orbit who reflexively, when things are bad politically, what do you do? You always fall back on immigration. And then second term, that means these deportations. And perhaps even they want that fight again, not necessarily violence on the streets, but I mean, the political tension to start talking about immigration ahead of the midterms, thinking maybe that will fire up Republicans who otherwise are pretty downtrodden about their chances.

Brzezinski focused on a liberal talking point of ICE detention centers as part of for-profit private prisons, a point that had been a push against progressive billionaire California candidate Tom Steyer, whose opponents alleged he made part of his fortune off private prisons.

Brzezinski then asked Heliemann if MAGA supported ICE actions and “human profit machines”:

Is there MAGA support for these human profit machines that are based on cruelty, separating people in inhumane conditions? Like, are people rallying and saying, “yay” at his events or whatever? They want this? Are we seeing a desire for what we have seen so far with ICE among the MAGA base?

Heilemann responded and said there was “enthusiasm” among the MAGA base for the “deportation agenda, broadly speaking,” as he told her, “most voters don't make the kind of - or kind of parsing this out in the way you are, Mika.”

Heilemann continued with another insinuation of racism: “And they want to see more brown people sent out of the country.”

He continued with more about the “base” and said they were “willing to overlook almost anything in the service of the cause, which was ‘get the illegals.’”

To close, Heillemann put all the MS NOW and liberal attacks of Trump into one before the midterms: "(...) this is one of those issues, along with prices, Jeffrey Epstein, the profiteering, the ballroom, focus on himself, and then the cruelty on the streets of American cities."

The one glowing thing ignored by Helliemann and the Morning Joe crew was the violent criminals ICE has deported, and, as more instances of illegal immigrant crime emerged, like the killing of Sheridan Gorman, the media had continued with their selective coverage.

Markwayne Mullin, the new secretary, has taken some time to put his people in place. You know, obviously, Tom Homan presents a different, perhaps more competent face than Corey Lewandowski and Kristi Noem. But they're ramping up again, and they have not made any official go decision.

JOHN HEILEMANN: I think among the MAGA base, there is there's enthusiasm for the deportation agenda broadly speaking. People don't make- I think in general, most voters don't make the kind of - or kind of parsing this out in the way you are, Mika.

I think what the MAGA base wants is more deportations. Their problem in Minneapolis, or not even their problem. I don't think they cared very much about what happened in Minneapolis, frankly. And they want to see more brown people sent out of the country. They don't - if that means the for-profit penitentiaries -

BRZEZINSKI: I’m listening, yeah.

HEILEMANN: - that's kind of in the weeds for a lot of people. What they're like is like, “we want deportations. We want them now.” That is not, by the way, obviously not a majority of the country. It's not even a majority, certainly not even majority. I don't think of the Republican Party.

But there is a - we think about the trump base. They are willing to overlook almost anything in the service of the cause, which is get the “illegals” out. And I think that Trump is right, that that general cause is popular with his base. But again, he's doesn’t have a problem with his base, really.

He has a bigger problem with independent voters for whom what they saw on the streets in Minneapolis was an enormous problem. And if you look at Donald Trump's numbers with independents, which is what's killing them heading into the midterms, this is one of those issues, along with prices, Jeffrey Epstein, the profiteering, the ballroom, focus on himself, and then the cruelty on the streets of American cities.

That's why you're sitting at numbers for Donald Trump with independents that are in the 20s at this point. It's the constellation of those issues. This is not going to help in his political fortunes, or the Republican party's political fortunes with those voters. And those are the voters who are key.

NBC Suggests Israel's Role In Iran War Make It Like Russia #Political

The three-letter networks' weekend of bad foreign policy hot takes continued on Saturday’s edition of Today as NBC chief international correspondent Keir Simmons hyped attempts to get Israel banned from the annual Eurovision singing competition for, among other things, its battle with Hezbollah that came about from allying with the U.S. in the Iran War on the grounds this allegedly makes Israel analogous to Russia.

Simmons declared that, “Each May millions tune in, cheer for their favorite singing act and complain about the voting. But this year it's not just divided, it's deeply divisive. During Tuesday's semifinal—”

After a clip of portions of the crowd chanting, “Stop the genoicide!” Simmons rolled on, “Israel's act faced protesters attempting to disrupt the performance.”

He then showed Israeli competitor Noam Bettan taking it all in good stride, “I heard, first of all in the beginning, a lot of booing, and it's fine. It's part of the thing, and a few seconds passed, and I got a huge wave of unforgettable love and support.”

As for Simmons, he did not explicitly blame Israel fighting alongside the U.S. for the cancelation demands, but he implied it when he omitted key information about Lebanon, “In the years since the October 7th Hamas attacks, Israel's war in Gaza, its treatment of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and the current conflict in Lebanon has prompted five countries to boycott the competition.”

“The current conflict in Lebanon” was started by Hezbollah. Lebanon was not part of the original joint U.S.-Israeli agenda, just like it wasn’t on Israel’s agenda after October 7 until Hezbollah decided to insert itself into the war.

Nevertheless, Simmons moved on to suggesting all of that could put Israel in the same situation as Russia, “Slovenia, Ireland, and Spain will not even broadcast tonight's event. Once known for its escapism, Eurovision has long been a flashpoint. Russia was banned after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and rumors have flown in previous years that the Israeli government influences the results, promoting a mass voting campaign. NBC News asked the Israeli government about those claims. We have not heard back. Tonight's final may see more protests.”

Simmons then played a clip of Denise Finke, who was described by NBC’s chyron as a “Vienna protest participant,” being more explicit with the Russia analogy, “I do not like the double standard that Israel is being held to. We are all kind of on the same opinion against Russia, and I think international law should be applied in the same way.”

Equivocating, Simmons declared, “Events here in the Middle East impacting politics across Europe and even an event once designed to unite.”

Finke appears to believe that a violation of international law is just anything she doesn’t like. Russia was banned from Eurovision because it launched an unprovoked war of aggression. Finke wants Israel banned because it fought back against the one waged against it.

In other Saturday Today news, Joe Fryer did a brief recap of the week’s biggest stories, which included Democratic Sen. Chris Van Hollen grilling FBI Director Kash Patel about allegations of excessive drinking. Patel countered by claiming that Van Hollen was the one who was drinking margaritas with Kilmar Abrego Garcia. SIMMONS: In the years since the October 7th Hamas attacks, Israel's war in Gaza, its treatment of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, and the current conflict in Lebanon has prompted five countries to boycott the competition.

Slovenia, Ireland, and Spain will not even broadcast tonight's event. Once known for its escapism, Eurovision has long been a flashpoint. Russia was banned after its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, and rumors have flown in previous years that the Israeli government influences the results, promoting a mass voting campaign. NBC News asked the Israeli government about those claims. We have not heard back. Tonight's final may see more protests.

DENISE FINKE: I do not like the double standard that Israel is being held to. We are all kind of on the same opinion against Russia, and I think international law should be applied in the same way.

Alex Soros pledging a fortune to fight antisemites is about as believable as an arsonist dressing up as a firefighter.

The newly-minted chairman of the Open Society Foundations released a sanctimonious statement on X May 13, pontificating that “My father [George Soros] has been the target of antisemitism his whole life. It has only strengthened our resolve to stand against all forms of hate.”

He continued, giving himself the proverbial pat on the back: “Proud that @OpenSociety is making a $30 million investment to build trust and solidarity across communities and keep people of all faiths safe.” Did he expect the internet to forget that it was his own organization that heavily financed a cornucopia of radical pro-Hamas groups that celebrated the slaughter of Jews in Israel during the October 7 genocide? One analysis by the New York Post put the Soros grant total of pro-Hamas group funding at $15 million between 2016 and 2023 alone.

Is legitimacy even a litmus test anymore for “philanthropy?” MRC Business was the first to point out this trend of Soros funneling huge wads of cash into groups celebrating the worst massacre of the Jewish people since the Holocaust just three days after October 7. Then-MRC President Brent Bozell and MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider penned an organizational letter to OSF calling George, his son Alex, and leadership to ask for their grantees’ antisemitic screeching. MRC Business also exposed a horrific 2007 pro-Hamas op-ed written by George Soros himself calling on America and Israel to “open the door to Hamas.”

So are we supposed to take Alex seriously now when he preached in an attached video how “discrimination and hate are not abstract concepts to me or my family. They’re deeply personal, and have been persistent throughout our lives.” Meanwhile, as Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz concluded in May 2023, just months before the October 7 genocide, “[N]o single person has done more to damage Israel’s standing in the world, especially among so-called progressives, than George Soros.”

It didn’t take long for Alex’s X post to get ratioed into the stratosphere, with over 4,200 comments and just over 1,100 likes as of May 15. CUNY Professor of Law Jeffrey Lax excoriated the Soros regime in a rebuke to Alex’s grandstanding:

Your father, a HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR for goodness sake, is one of the greatest antisemites and most evil people the world has ever seen. It is beyond shameful that you are carrying on the immense harm he has done to the world. – A fellow descendant of 4 Holocaust survivors.

Get off the internet, Alex. America isn’t buying your snake oil window-dressing act any longer.

NRA: Governor ‘Abigail Spanberger Isn’t Going to Ban America’s Rifles Under Our Watch’ #Political

“Abigail Spanberger isn’t going to ban America’s rifles under our watch,” NRA Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA) Executive Director John Commerford promised after the Democrat Virginia governor signed a bill banning so-called “assault” weapons and high capacity magazines.

“We’re not going to stand idly by and let this new governor ban America’s rifles in the Commonwealth of Virginia,” Commerford said in a statement announcing that NRA-ILA immediately filed two lawsuits, one federal and one state, challenging Spanberger’s assault of the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution:

“Our teams of world-class appellate attorneys are ready to win in federal and state court and protect your rights across the Commonwealth.

“Abigail Spanberger isn’t going to ban America’s rifles under our watch.”

The lawsuit, filed in union with other prominent pro-Second Amendment organizations, is just one of many to come, as Just The News reports:

“Other lawsuits are coming. Gun Owners of America and the Virginia Citizens Defense League are planning to file lawsuits on Friday. The Trump administration has also warned it was planning to take legal action if the bill was signed into law.”

Virginia’s bill allows people who already own the banned firearms them to keep them, enabling them to continue to enjoy their Second Amendment rights.

But, anyone new is subject to a Class 1 misdemeanor conviction, Virginia’s CBS 6 News reports:

“The law makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to import, sell, manufacture, purchase, or transfer an assault firearm. Anyone convicted of that violation is prohibited from purchasing, possessing, or transporting any firearm for three years from the date of conviction.”

Managing editor Curtis Houck joined the show as we discussed how the war on "mainstream media" misinformation often starts on X. Miller has been very aggressive on New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof ripping the Israelis as guilty of egregious prison rape of Palestinians.

Of all the claims that a newspaper should think about before they publish, the concept of “trained rape dogs” would be at the top of the list. But The Times pushed this bizarre concept on their readers. His source was the “Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor,” which has been trying tell this rape-dog story for years, and has also made bizarre claims against Israel in the past, including the accusation that Israel was harvesting organs from dead Palestinians.

Oliver Darcy's website Status spends a lot of time picking on CBS News, most recently on Benjamin Netanyahu getting to choose Major Garrett as his interviewer. Anyone who thinks the Clintons or Barack Obama didn't get a concierge menu of interviewers and topics from 60 Minutes is extremely naive. Dylan Byers at Puck went after Darcy (both former CNN media reporters) for the pretense that this was some dangerous new frontier.

The "Corbynization" of the Democrats refers to former Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, who stated he considered Hamas and Hezbollah "friends," and was present a wreath-laying at the gravesite of participants in the massacre of Israeli athletes at the 1972 Munich Olympics. The newfound popularity of Hasan Piker as he endorsed Michigan Senate candidate Abdul el-Sayed and the travails of Nazi-tattoo-bearing Senate candidate Graham Platner have been deep-sixed by the network news.

Wednesday’s Good Morning America was a shameless display of collective and personal embarrassment for all involved with the ABC News program as they spent nearly 14 minutes (13:40) swooning at parent company Disney’s Upfront — an annual, day-long, fancy showcase of a network’s upcoming projects and past accomplishments to sell advertising — but have yet to offer a word on the damaging arrests of possibly ten Disney Cruise workers on child pornography charges.

“Oh yeah. You better believe a lot of Disney excitement as we head into Wednesday,” co-host Robin Roberts beamed right off the top of the show, reacting to the loaded opening tease (not included in our time count) that promised to take viewers “up front and center to all the Disney magic with some really big announcements.”

Roberts even did the same after seeing the teases in the second hour, boasting GMA would be “celebrating all of the exciting shows and movies coming to ABC and Disney” and she spoke about them “with Disney’s president and chief creative officer, Dana Walden, to hear her thoughts on why these stories are so incredibly special.”

The first full segment consisted of almost six minutes from said interview between Roberts and Walden. Roberts swooned it was Wednesday’s ‘GMA Cover Story’ with “Disney revealing its star-studded lineup of hit shows, movies, live events, gearing up to bring magic to our screens” and Walden telling her “what makes these stories and storytellers so great.”

How is this news? Where is Neil Postman? This is certainly some of what he was talking about in Amusing Ourselves to Death.

“From the emotionally gripping series Love Story....to the animated blockbuster film Zootopia 2 and the fan-favorite TV show Paradise — with 51 billion hours watched across Disney’s linear and streaming platforms, at the heart, it’s all about a great story,” she bragged.

Roberts’s interview was Barack Obama-and-Steve Kroft-esque in its corporate fraudulence and syrupy stupidity.

From asking her “how do you break through with what the consumer, you feel, wants right now” to whether “anything...surprises you that folks are watching” to “where does [Bluey] all fit into the [Disney] portfolio,” it was a crock.

Roberts had more foaming praise afterward: “All of television films, streaming, and gaming falls under her. You know, we've all been to the Upfronts over the years. And boy — it really was [great]. And Josh D’Amaro, the new CEO, he was front and center. He kicked everything off. And I know, in the post-party, you were speaking a lot to — to — to [Ginger Zee].”

Less than five minutes later, there was another three and a half minutes touting the presence of Dancing with the Stars at the Disney Upfront and the latest announced contestant, Savannah Bananas player Jackson Olson.

And not even 15 minutes following that was a third and final segment, tallying almost four minutes as correspondent Will Ganz giddily promoted the “blue carpet” and his celebrity interviews.

“And holy headlines Batman. Paul Anthony Kelly joining American Horror Story. Jackson Olsen joining Dancing With the Stars. Conan O’Brien returning as host for an Academy Awards three peat. All those stars can only align in one spot. The blue carpet at the Disney upfronts. This year, we're kicking it up a notch…The surprises are huge…as Disney unveils its most a-peeling line-up yet,” Ganz swooned.

Ganz even marveled alongside Brie Larson that “Air Bud” went running across their shot, but didn’t have enough brainpower to wonder who (and whose dog) it actually was. In fact, it was Peter Herbstreit, who belongs to ESPN’s lead college football analyst, Kirk Herbstreit.

Ganz played his role, interviewing everyone from returning scripted shows on ABC, FX, and Hulu to reality shows, new adaptations, and sporting events on ABC and ESPN.

Like much of Good Morning America whoring itself to any new Disney project, CBS promoting Paramount Skydance movies or sports such as the UFC, or NBC hawking anything Universal Studios, news has increasingly been one of the last things on the mind of morning television in legacy media. Just don’t expect them to always be transparent in keeping their own houses in order.

Jake Tapper Sets Up Clyburn to Unload Jim Crow Metaphors on Top Court #Political

On Sunday, CNN’s State of the Union featured a discussion with Democratic Congressman James Clyburn of South Carolina concerning The Supreme Court's latest decision against using race in redistricting. The conversation quickly turned to comparisons between the Supreme Court’s decision on the Voting Rights Act and Jim Crow-era policies.

First, Tapper began by asking Clyburn if his congressional seat was “headed for elimination.” Clyburn confidently responded, “I don't know why people think I cannot get reelected if they redistrict South Carolina.” Incumbents typically still have advantages even after redistricting.

Tapper later set up Clyburn to employ all the "Jim Crow" metaphors.

TAPPER: Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, he called the Supreme Court's decision to weaken the Voting Rights Act, as it were -- quote -- "another step towards resurrecting the Jim Crow South." Georgia Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock said it was a -- quote -- "21st century version of Jim Crow in new clothes. “Do you agree?

CLYBURN: Absolutely, I agree, so much so that I have been saying this now for the last four or five years, and people have been looking at me as if I'm crazy or something.

Yes, it might sound crazy to say nothing's changed on race in the South since the 1950s.

Clyburn then mentioned his new book, The First Eight, which is about the eight African Americans that served in Congress before him who were all “kicked out of office over this kind of tortured gerrymandering.” (They were Republicans, but CNN viewers apparently didn't need to know that.)

Tapper then asked for his reaction to Justice Alito saying that “Vast social change has shown that some race-based voting protections are no longer necessary.” Clyburn answered, “why is it okay to have a 75 percent white district and that's not racial; if you have a 45 percent black district, that is racial?”

Clyburn argued that by looking at the Supreme Court’s reasoning it is obvious that they are “throwing everything out of the window, coming up with new theories, putting in their own prejudices in this, and they are being very partisan in their rulings.” He explained that he “never thought” he would “see the day that the United States Supreme Court would be so openly partisan with what it's been doing.”

Clyburn concluded by comparing Justice Roberts to Justice Roger B. Taney, who ruled in the Dred Scott decision that African Americans could not be citizens. He ended with, “And I really believe, if you look at all of these decisions and you look at the history of the country, I think that Justice Roberts is going to take his place alongside some other infamous justices like Taney, who gave us the Dred Scott decision.”

Journalists like Tapper -- who scowl about election deniers -- eagerly engage with racial-advancement deniers.

REP. JAMES CLYBURN (D-SC): Well, thank you very much for having me, Jake.

The voters will have the last word on this. And I don't know why people think I cannot get reelected if they redistrict South Carolina. Now, I have a district that's about a 45 percent African-American. I have no idea what the number will be after the legislature finishes.

But whatever that number is, I will be running on a record and a promise, my record and America's promise. So I'm going to run irrespective of what the makeup of the district might be, because I believe that I have a record that is very acceptable to the South Carolina voter and I have a good understanding of America's promise. And we'll run on that.

TAPPER: I want to ask you about some of the criticisms of these redistricting efforts that we've heard from some of the other Democratic leaders. And the fact of the matter is, they all were kicked out of office over this kind of tortures gerrymandering, as well as the kind of creative devices that you see put in forth in the so-called SAVE Act, something else that the president wants.

He's been trying to force the Senate to pass the SAVE Act. I will ask anybody, take a look at the SAVE Act and then take a look at my book, "The First Eight," because that book will tell you exactly what they did after the Civil War, after bringing Reconstruction to an end, and initiated Jim Crow.

There are 95 years between number eight in my book and yours truly, number nine. That did not happen organically. That happened because Congress and the Supreme Court changed the rules, as they are doing today.

TAPPER: And, on that note, the reason why this scramble to redistrict in the South in places like Louisiana, Alabama, Tennessee, obviously South Carolina, the reason it's happening is because the U.S. Supreme Court struck down this key provision in the Voting Rights Act.

And in his decision, Justice Alito wrote that -- quote -- "Vast social change has shown that some race-based voting protections are no longer necessary." What was your reaction when you first read that?

CLYBURN: Well, my first reaction was, if you look at -- let's just look at South Carolina and look at the congressional districts in South Carolina, why is it okay to have a 75 percent white district and that's not racial; if you have a 45 percent black district, that is racial?

So what is this about? There's no way that the numbers bear this out. When you look at what the Supreme Court's reasons have been, you have to come to the conclusion that they are throwing everything out of the window, coming up with new theories, putting in their own prejudices in this, and they are being very partisan in their rulings.

I never thought I would see the day that the United States Supreme Court would be so openly partisan with what it's been doing. And I really believe, if you look at all of these decisions and you look at the history of the country, I think that Justice Roberts is going to take his place alongside some other infamous justices like Taney, who gave us the Dred Scott decision.

Daily Show Tries To Equate Trump's America To Putin's Rise To Power #Political

On Tuesday, Comedy Central’s The Daily Show host-of-the-week Jordan Klepper welcomed actor Paul Dano to the set to promote his new movie, The Wizard of the Kremlin, which is a satirical film on Vladimir Putin’s rise to power. According to both Klepper and Dano, the film also has relevant insights for Trump’s America.

Dano plays the part of Vadim Baranov, who is based on the real-life Vladislav Surkov. Surkov was a Putin advisor up until 2020 who helped shape and define what could be called Putinism and was responsible for, among other things, advising Putin on Ukraine during the original 2014 dismemberment of that country.

That context made Klepper’s attempt to tie Russia to the current political climate at home even more ridiculous. Although he never mentioned Trump explicitly, it was clear who he was talking about, “I mean, you can't help but watch a movie like this and relate it back to what is happening in America. I think it is really curious watching this person who is sort of described as the Rasputin to Vladimir Putin, who goes from being an avant-garde theater director to being this media manipulator. As you are piecing it together, how are you wrapping your head around a real person, how a character can transfer into somebody who essentially becomes, like, an amoral device of the state?”

One obvious way Klepper’s media analogy breaks down is that Putin simply shut it down when reporters started asking uncomfortable questions. Under Trump, the government has not shut down any domestic news organizations, nor has it forcibly taken any over. People who say Trump has forced CBS to bend to his will have not done a thorough job of watching what CBS actually airs.

Nevertheless, Dano replied, “One of the unfortunate things about the character is I don't think he was born, like, seeking that, but that is where his talents were rewarded for it, and I think it is easy for us to follow that path.”

Dano continued:

I mean, I think, so I think in some ways, the film is about complicity. Like, this is where this person was rewarded and given power, so this is what I will do. I was really disturbed by some of the tactics that they instituted to control modern power and modern politics. One of the ones that I—really struck a note with me as an American was this idea of consciously creating chaos because then you need a strong figure in the middle. Years later, now we have heard Steve Bannon use the term, like, ‘muzzle velocity,’ because they are just going to come at you so fast that we can't do anything about it. So, I think that there is a pretty big mirror held up in this film, not just to Russia, but to the world at large.

It is absolutely correct to say that Putin has used chaos—possibly even government-created chaos—to justify a relapse into authoritarianism that revolves around himself. What is not justified is this idea that anything Trump does that liberals don’t like is part of some analogous sinister plan to make Trump president for life.

One of the ones that I—really struck a note with me as an American was this idea of consciously creating chaos because then you need a strong figure in the middle. Years later, now we have heard Steve Bannon use the term, like, “muzzle velocity,” because they are just going to come at you so fast that we can't do anything about it. So, I think that there is a pretty big mirror held up in this film, not just to Russia, but to the world at large.

Chris Matthews Says Iran Gets ‘Help of American Media’ In Conflicts #Political

On Tuesday’s Morning Joe, former MSNBC host Chris Matthews acknowledged Iran has always used the “help of American media” to peddle images of war back to the American audience to hurt the opinions of American presidents, including his former boss, President Jimmy Carter, amid the Iranian hostage crisis.

But, of course, Matthews helped peddle that same Iranian propaganda further in their discussion as he said any future U.S. military actions in Iran would be “war crimes.”

Morning Joe regular Mike Barnicle asked Matthews about the experience with Iranians amid the Carter hostage crisis. “Iranians seem to have been playing their tune for us, and we've been going along with it for a long, long time,” Barnicle said.

On Morning Joe, Chris Matthews said the Iranians get "the help of the American Media," as he compared the current coverage of the Iran War to the Iranian Hostage Crisis under Jimmy Carter, whom Matthews worked for.

Matthews followed with a story of the 1980 presidential campaign amid the crisis. He recounted that there was a moment in the campaign when it seemed the Iranian mullahs might release the hostages, but they were “tricked.”

He then remembered the coverage by Walter Cronkite as he started to allude to media coverage of Iran in that crisis as a comparison:

The ayatollah and all that gang knew they were going to screw Carter one more time. And so the day before the 1980 election, Walter Cronkite led with the hostage crisis anniversary. It wasn't even the next election the next day, it was the anniversary of the hostage taking. And American held hostage was on every night at 11:30. It never stopped.

Then, Matthews recalled the coverage then as the Iranians hurting Carter, with “the help of American media”:

They kept the heat on him in the media, day after day after day, with the help of the American media, and he could never get past it. So, I look at Trump and what he's facing right now when you talked about this morning, and these options aren't there.

What Matthews discussed in terms of American media around 1980 was very similar to coverage today, in the media’s usage of Iranian State Media as primary sources, as seen on CNN and other mainstream networks.

Just as he talked about the media, he echoed a constant Democrat and media talking point of war crimes:

You can't go back and start committing war crimes, attacking power plants and desalination facilities, and all that. You can't do that. You're going to start killing people, and it's going to be all over the news. And guess how we're going to know about it? The Iranians will make sure we'll know about every girl’s school that gets hit, every hospital that's hit, everything we do wrong, every war crime that looks like a war crime, we'll know all about it because they're really good at this.

After Jonathan Lemire and Joe Scarborough talked about Iranian A.I. LEGO propaganda memes, Matthews joined back in and feared of a girls’ school being hit among other war action:

If we do that again, and we will do that again, if we start doing saturation bombing and we start hitting critical facilities that affect people's lives, we're going to get into killing people. And I think Trump must know that.

Even after Chris Matthews illustrated how Iranians manipulate U.S. media, Matthews and the Morning Joe crew proceeded to demonstrate it firsthand.

MIKE BARNICLE: Chris, listening to David and listening to the conversations that have been taking place here this morning around the table about Iran, and for the past couple of weeks about Iran. Let's talk about another president, a president who you served, Jimmy Carter. And let's talk about the hostage taking by the Iranians.

The Iranians seem to have been playing their tune for us, and we've been going along with it for a long, long time.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Well, I was listening to Joe yesterday morning, and I was thrown back 46 years, almost a half a century, to being on Air Force One with President Carter on the Saturday before the election of 1980.

And of course, we went to - back in those days, we were still, Democrats were still trying to get Texas. We spent five different stops at the airports. We have 10,000 people waiting for you at the airport, in the stands there. And we went all through Texas the day before, and that, on Saturday. Then we went to Milwaukee late that night, and then we - Carter threw on an Italian sports heroes program about midnight because Marty Russo, the congressman, got him to do that. And then at two in the morning, Hamilton Jordan showed up in Chicago to say, “the mullahs are voting. It looks like there might be a chance we'll get the hostages back before the election.”

And there it was, an opportunity. We flew back to Washington. And, once again, the mullahs tricked us. The ayatollah and all that gang knew they were going to screw Carter one more time. They really keep up with our media and how to screw an American president, and they're going to do it again.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: Well, and let's compare what happened in 79 and 80. They would always make sure, and Chris talked about this before when he was here, and always make sure they would burn an American flag in front of American television cameras to make sure that American flag being burned would be shown in the United States, make the president look even weaker. They would parade out hostages with blindfolds.

They would do all of these horrific things that would enrage Americans, knowing that the American president couldn't do anything about it. And they would just keep -

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: They were ruthless.

SCARBOROUGH: - pulling the string and pulling the string. And it cost Carter the presidency. They're doing the same thing now. And I'm not being glib when I say this. They're not burning American flags. They're doing memes.

JONATHAN LEMIRE: Yeah.

SCARBOROUGH: They're hitting where it hurts the most now in this new culture. And like Legos and teletubbies and all of these things that actually burning an American flag would play into Trump's strength to say, we're going to fight, we're going to do this.

But now they're mocking him ruthlessly because they understand that that's how you get to him the most.

LEMIRE: And how many times have we heard Donald Trump over the last ten years complain that the world is laughing at the United States right now? Iran is laughing at him. They do know what buttons to push. It's a very online presidency. It's an online nation right now. And people are seeing these memes, and the president doesn't have a great way of responding -

SCARBOROUGH: Like, how about the example of like when he said something like, I need an answer by eight, or we're going to destroy your civilization? They quickly responded and said, that's not a good time for us. How about two in the morning? Yeah. And so it's a - even when he's trying to be tough online, the Iranians know how to mock him and ridicule him.

And again, this isn't just about Donald Trump. This is what we're saying here is this is about every American president that crosses them. They know how to pull the strings. And now, as Doctor Brzezinski warned, as everybody else warned about for decades, now they have the straight.

LEMIRE: Yeah. Tehran has specialized in humiliating American presidents for a long time. And just a few more examples here. Let's remember they've blown off deadlines. They've ignored threats. The time where the foreign minister was in Islamabad and the U.S. negotiating team was heading to the airport to fly to Islamabad to meet them. And the foreign minister simply left like they knew. They're poking, you know, the president where it hurts.

MATTHEWS: So I think it's the fear of another girl's school being hit, because we all got tremendous clearance as media people to go in there and get that story. One thing the Iranians are good at is letting Americans know the bad stories about themselves, and they will let the country know how bad it was that we accidentally hit that girls' school.

If we do that again, and we will do that again, if we start doing saturation bombing and we start hitting critical facilities that affect people's lives, we're going to get into killing people. And I think Trump must know that.

I think Admiral Stavridis, his third option, seems like the one going to keep trying to open the straits, just limited warfare just in one part of the country, the strait itself. Try to open that up. It seems like that is what he was recommending, I think.

SNL's Drunk Kavanaugh Claims Court Is Going To Let Trump Ignore Constitution #Political

Actor Matt Damon stopped by NBC and Saturday Night Live over the weekend to reprise his role as Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and suggest that he and his colleagues have a secret plan to let President Trump ignore the Constitution and run for a third term. Fake Kavanaugh revealed his secret while at a bar during a bro session with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth (Colin Jost) and FBI Director Kash Patel (Aziz Ansari) at a bar to imply all three have an alcohol problem.

Initially it was just Kavanaugh and Hegseth when Damon quipped, “Hey, can I just say, we are both kicking ass right now.”

SNL has Brett Kavanaugh (Matt Damon) show up at a bar with Pete Hegseth (Colin Jost) to brag, "Hey, can I just say, we are both kicking ass right now...Can you believe I ended abortion? Hey, your body, my choice. Oh! You knew I'd do it."

Fake Hegseth eagerly agreed, “Right? Dude, can you believe I just, like, started a war?” Meanwhile, Damon started his theme of not actually understanding the Court, “Can you believe I ended abortion? Hey, your body, my choice. Oh! You knew I'd do it. You knew I’d do it.”

After Fake Kavanaugh asked how the Iran War is going, Jost claimed, “Oh, it’s totally chill. It's totally chill. At this point—it's like me at a DWI checkpoint: it completely blew over.”

Damon then wondered, “Oh, really. I thought I read we were still bombing stuff.”

Jost then not-so-subtly tried to suggest that the administration is having the same problem with the Iran War as an alcoholic has with alcohol, “Ah, no, just like a few every now and then. We can stop whenever we want to.”

Damon then pulled out a picture, “Well, it's the new voting district that I approved in Tennessee… Oh, wait, actually, no. That's a field sobriety test. They told me to draw a circle.”

Fake Hegseth congratulated him, “Dude, you are really close…You knew it was a shape.”

The picture Damon held up actually was one of Tennessee’s new Fifth Congressional District held upside down. Of course, the Supreme Court didn’t approve it per se but did help greenlight the process by ruling in a related case from Louisiana that it is not 1965 anymore and so majority-minority districts are no longer required.

Later, after Ansari joined the scene, Damon asked the group, “Hey, since we're opening up, can I tell you guys something top secret?”

After Jost claimed, “Brother, everything's a secret when you're blacked out,” Damon continued, “Right. All right. We're going to let Trump do a third term.”

Following some celebration, Fake Hegseth claimed, “I thought that was unconstitutional.” Damon concluded his SCOTUS ignorance by celebrating, “Yeah, it was. But Trump found the original Constitution. And at the end he wrote, ‘Psych!’ We're going to live forever!”

Even if Trump were serious in his comments about running for a third term, does SNL really think the Court would just let him just ignore the 22nd Amendment? It would not even let him keep his tariffs.

Pete Davidson’s Charlie Kirk ‘Joke’ Wasn’t Comedy- It Was Dangerous Dehumanization #Political

On the heels of yet another assassination attempt on Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner on April 26 by another radicalized liberal filled with TDS hatred, the left continues to ignore how their hateful, dehumanizing rhetoric fuels political violence. A prime example happened on Netflix Sunday evening during The Roast of Kevin Hart when actor/comedian Pete Davidson made a shockingly horrific “joke” at the expense of assassinated conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

It’s only been 8 months since Kirk was murdered on camera for the whole world to see while trying to encourage dialogue among those with differing political views. He believed violence occurs when people stop talking to, and recognizing the humanity of, those they disagree with politically.

So, it was ironic to hear Davidson dehumanize Kirk with a highly offensive and lewd sexual “joke” as he roasted fellow comedian Tony Hinchcliffe, who is a heterosexual conservative:

Davidson: Tony Hinchcliffe is here, looking like both a child molester, and the doll they give the child to show where he touched them. Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat. Oh, you don’t know me? Yeah.

Kill Tony, please. Someone f***ing kill Tony. Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings. I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay Nazis. Thank you. Yeah.

In a climate soaked with political hatred, this isn't harmless humor. It's pouring gasoline on an already out-of-control fire. When celebrities casually desecrate murdered conservatives, it tells unhinged leftists their political opponents are subhuman. Jokes like this normalize the idea that conservative corpses are punchlines, not tragedies.

The producer for The Charlie Kirk Show, Blake Neff, responded to Davidson’s joke on X:

Neff: I didn't like it, and I'm glad the audience wasn't into it, but there are other 'jokes' we've seen that are clearly a lot more hateful in intent than Pete's, and a few bad-taste jokes about Charlie are the price we have to pay for how iconic he has become in American culture.

This isn’t Davidson’s first controversial joke. In 2018, he apologized for mocking then-Rep. Dan Crenshaw’s war injury. He later took back his apology, obviously failing to learn anything from the experience.

Given the loss of his father in the 9/11 attacks, Davidson should know better than most that grief is not a punchline. Ironically, Davidson knows exactly what it feels like when a father’s death becomes material for public ridicule. When comedian Jimmy Carr joked, “This is not the roast of Pete Davidson’s father. That was in 2001,” Davidson must have felt the brutality of being reminded of his father’s death so cruelly. He knows what it's like for the world to joke about your irreplaceable loss.

Even more striking, Davidson reportedly approved Carr’s joke in advance and called it “dope,” right after it was said, suggesting he has learned to mask the pain with bravado. If so, that only makes his joke about Charlie Kirk more troubling, not less. Someone who has lived with that kind of loss should understand better than most that grief is not raw material for cheap laughs, especially when the cruelty lands on a grieving widow and two young children already carrying an unbearable burden.

If Davidson was truly funny, he wouldn’t need cheap, rage-bait jokes to stay relevant. It appears he might be buying his own pain behind cruelty, refusing to consider the harm his words inflict. As the saying goes, hurt people hurt people. Whatever his motives, it doesn’t excuse the damage his “humor” causes, both directly to those who knew and loved Charlie the most, and to the security of our nation as a whole in a time when political hate and violence are rampant.

NY Times Concerned Abortionists Can't Kill Babies Safely #Political

The New York Times believes they really scored an “own” against the right by taunting Republicans with the idea they might lose elections if they continue trying to outlaw the murder of pre-born babies.

The NYT's Molly Jong-Fast thinks Republicans supporting a ban on mail-order abortion drugs will hurt them electorally.

In a four minute rant riddled with mental gymnastics, contributor Molly Jong-Fast gloated that banning abortion pills is a “no-win situation" for Republicans, who are trying to win on an issue that is wildly unpopular.”

Given that modern day progressivism is a self-consumed ideology that employs “any means necessary” as a winning strategy, it’s no surprise its subscribers can’t understand why others would prioritize a win for human lives over a win for politics.

If banning pseudo-doctors from ending those lives is so “wildly unpopular,” then pro-aborts like Jong-Fast should have no problem with the U.S. Supreme Court overturning Roe Vs. Wade, which leaves the decision up to voters in every state.

Nevertheless, she continues lamenting how hard a post-Roe America will be for mothers to end their child’s life with drugs like mifepristone and misoprostol.

If SCOTUS reverses their temporary ruling that allows nationwide access to the deadly cocktail, she complains “it can still be pulled from the market” despite being FDA-approved, because “ideologically, this government doesn’t like what it does.”

Correct… it kills people.

But according to Jong-Fast, “making abortion illegal doesn’t stop abortions; it just stops safe ones.”

In other words, making murder illegal doesn’t stop people from being murdered… It just stops them from being murdered safely.

In a wildly inflammatory segment on Saturday's edition of The Weekend: Primetime, MS NOW analyst Basil Smikle declared Republican-led redistricting and other moves tantamount to “an American version of apartheid.”

In his view, forbidding the use of race in redistricting is "the removal of the civic opportunity, civic engagement, for black people."

Earlier in the segment, law professor James Sample admitted that the Virginia Supreme Court’s decision striking down the Democrat mid-decade power grab was “probably right on the law” — before declaring it a “disaster for our democracy” anyway.

Yes, really.

Professor James Sample: “The decision of the Virginia Supreme Court, I think, is a disaster for our democracy. It’s probably right on the law, and it’s actually a pro-voter protection decision.”

Basil Smikle: “This is going to be tantamount to an American version of apartheid… restricting black civic engagement… That to me rings very true to an American version of apartheid.”

The panel then pivoted from that explosive claim to wallowing in doom and gloom, repeatedly declaring the situation “very, very grim” and suggesting Democrats have almost no legal recourse.

The striking admission that the Virginia Supreme Court got the law right — combined with the immediate pivot to hysterical “apartheid” rhetoric — perfectly captures the modern Democratic/liberal media mindset. Even when the other side follows the rules and wins fairly, it’s still illegitimate, racist, and catastrophic.

This is what happens when your side loses on the merits: You don’t reconsider your position. You just crank the apocalyptic language up to eleven and scream “apartheid!”

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. Democrats spent months ramming through a procedurally flawed mid-decade referendum (after over a million Virginians had already voted early), and when the court correctly called them on it, the response is to compare it to the most notorious modern example of white segregation.

Welcome to the resistance, 2026 edition.

Note: At the end of the segment, MS NOW Republican Elise Jordan admitted that from the jump, the law was against the Virginia Democrats' attempt to push through the redistricting, but it was "a valiant effort" to motivate their base. Funny: we didn't hear much of that honesty earlier, when the Dems and the liberal media were extolling the referendum as manna from heaven!

ANTONIA HYLTON: So James, you and I had a conversation the other day about all of this as I was processing these rulings in real time. You do a very good job of bringing us back down to earth. You called the Virginia decision a quote, “defensive, or defensible ruling,” an “indefensible landscape.” Break that down for me.

PROFESSOR JAMES SAMPLE: What I mean by that, Antonia, is that the ruling in Virginia is defensible — and from the very beginning, as far back as October, as far back as a couple of weeks ago when the district court in Virginia came up with seven grounds on which the district court found the process problematic, I said that this one ground, the ground on which it was ultimately held to be unconstitutional under the state constitution of Virginia, was at the very least a credible — serious, non-frivolous argument.

And let’s be clear, Virginia put in place state constitutional provisions that were intended to safeguard and to be structural protections that make it difficult to amend their constitution as a matter of state constitutional law. They didn’t put that in place for this, it’s been in place for decades.

And the basic synopsis of why this was held to be unconstitutional under Virginia law is that in order to amend the Virginia State Constitution, you need to pass an amendment through the House of Delegates, through the Assembly. There needs to be a general election for the House of Delegates, and then it needs to pass again, so you have two different legislatures pass the same amendment.

What happened here is that voters started voting for the legislature in September of 2025. Forty percent of the voters who cast a vote in the general House of Delegates election voted prior to the amendment being passed in the House of Delegates in late October.

To be clear, the decision of the Virginia Supreme Court, I think, is a disaster for our democracy. It’s probably right on the law, and it’s actually a pro-voter protection decision.

BASIL SMIKLE: I said this when Texas entered the fray to try to do their redistricting, and I said, this is going to be tantamount to an American version of apartheid, because it’s not just about congressional seats — what the congressional seats allows states to do is then redistrict state legislative seats, city council seats, all the way down to even school board elections, right?

So when you think about the removal of the civic opportunity, civic engagement, for black people, the fact that the president reclassified certain jobs where there are concentrations of women, particularly women of color, as professionals, making it difficult to get student loans, restricting now with the Supreme Court’s help, who can go to college and what colleges they can go to, and then how many hundreds of thousands of African American women lost their jobs. So there’s also an economic attack on African Americans here.

So when you put those two things together, to me it says you’re trying to, through centralized, you’re trying to centralize through our entire federal bureaucracy and have it trickle down to the states, the restriction of black civic engagement and economic, that to me rings very true to, you know, of an American version of apartheid that is not easily unshakable [sic] in the near term.

AYMAN MOHYELDIN: So the question is, do the Democrats have any legal recourse here with all of this redistricting that’s taking place? They’re trying to level the playing field, or is it just gonna come down simply, at the ballot box that they’re going to have their best and final chance at regaining power?

JAMES: I don’t think they have much legal recourse. They certainly don’t have legal recourse in Virginia. This is an independent and adequate state ground, which means that the U.S. Supreme Court doesn’t really have jurisdiction to overturn what happened.

I am less optimistic than many people. I don’t know that, I think that we could end up with sixty percent of the vote producing forty percent of the seats. Let’s be, I mean, this is very, very stark, and Antonia said I bring her down, but realistically --

SMIKLE: I agree.

SAMPLE: That's what I was talking about earlier. It is not just grim, it is really, really, grim.

SMIKLE: But now we're in a situation where things do look very, very grim.

ELISE JORDAN: Like you said, like I think that James’s point, he’s addressing reality. The law was against them [the Virginia referendum promoters.] And it was a valiant effort, in the sense that they mobilized their supporters, they got to show the energy, and they get to see what’s there and who’s there to fight, but it just wasn’t gonna go to the finish line.

NY Times Shrugs Off Platner Nazi Tattoo: Panicked at Musk Salute, Hegseth, OK Sign #Political

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner got a Nazi tattoo in Croatia in 2007 while serving in the Marines – not just a swastika tat either, but a special skull and crossbones “Totenkopf” tattoo, similar to those worn by Hitler’s SS. He had the tattoo covered with new ink in late October 2025 only after it became a controversy during his emerging Maine U.S. Senate campaign. Notably, the offensive tattoo was not removed in a prolonged process of laser removal, but only covered up with another.

What do the writers of the New York Times think of Platner’s Totenkopf tattoo? After all, the paper has spent years pushing the left’s most hypersensitive reactions to any signs of fascism, real or mostly imagined, on the part of Republican-identified figures, like Elon Musk’s so-called Nazi salute. Reporter Ryan Mac wrote in January 2025 under the headlines “Elon Musk Ignites Online Speculation Over the Meaning of a Hand Gesture -- Speaking at a celebratory rally in Washington, Mr. Musk twice extended his arm out with his palm facing down, drawing comparisons to the Nazi salute”).

Certainly the real deal, a deep cut of Nazism emblazoned on the chest of a candidate for U.S. Senate, would inspire true revulsion.

Yet the same paper that went into such hysterics over nothings (even the “OK” hand gesture was suspected of links to “white power”) has greeted Platner’s Totenkopf with a shrug, as long as its owner has a chance to damage the Trump Administration by defeating moderate Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

It’s certainly not a dealbreaker for New York Times writer Frank Bruni, who announced his support for Platner, who appears to have wrapped up the nomination for the June Democratic primary, in order to kick Collins and help deprive Trump of his Senate cushion. Bruni made his blunt argument in his May 4 newsletter “If Democrats Have Appropriate Fear of Trump, They Will Elect Platner.”

What Democrats have to fear from Sen. Collins, who actually voted to impeach Trump in 2021, is another matter.

To be fair, Bruni wasn’t at the forefront of the Times’ feverish bouts of cancel culture, and has made occasional chiding noises about liberals’ overzealousness in their search for enemies (perhaps like calling everything they don’t like fascist?)

But in a January 2025 “written online conversation” he hosted between business writer Bethany McLean and Nate Silver on Musk, Bruni argued that "Musk isn’t just a private citizen anymore; he’s a government official who might end up with an office in the West Wing. Shouldn’t we be talking about his stiff-armed salute — or whatever we’re calling it — at that rally on Monday in that context? What do you think it meant? And whatever was going on there, isn’t it incumbent on Musk in his new role with his new responsibilities to check his speech and spasms in a manner that forbids anyone from seeing a 'Sieg Heil' and flashing back to the Nazis?”

Bruni went after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth’s Christian tattoo in a recent column on April 13 to bolster his argument that Secretary of War Pete Hegseth is a religious Crusader with a capital C based on Hegseth's Jerusalem Cross, “Deus Vult” tattoo: “Hegseth has a tattoo on his right biceps that says ‘Deus vult,’ Latin for ‘God wills it.’ He has described that phrase as a battle cry during the Crusades, which, of course, pitted Christians against Muslims."

A December 2024 Times article claimed the Deus Vult motto had been used by white supremacists. (Platner’s literal white supremacist tattoo was not similarly linked).

The Times doesn’t care that anti-Semitic leftist luminaries like podcaster Hasan Piker have praised Platner: “He was giving Hamas credit in 2014. What more do you f***ing want?” Indeed. Platner also sat for a podcast interview with antisemitic conspiracy theorist Nate Cornacchia, with Platner saying he was a “longtime fan.”

But for the Times, Platner is just a jaunty “populist oysterman.” The paper has referred to Platner as “an oyster farmer and veteran” without even noting the specific Nazi tattoo he got while serving in the Marines.

The Washington Post had the story well down in its computerized version. As almost an aside, saying that President Trump wanted the files released for Americans to judge for themselves. So too did The New York Times write it up.

The obvious media question then is….where is the media waving any kind of red flag on this? Is it eye-rolling disbelief? Simple elitist skepticism that really this story is all about a Steven Spielberg extra-reel from that old ET movie?

One suspects that the latter is the answer for the nonchalant way that media outside of The New York Post is dealing with this story. This is, presumably, how the thought goes in those sophisticated media bureaus when dealing with the UFO topic.

Suffice to say, there is no inside information available in this corner of the world. I haven’t heard from ET. But I do recall a long ago 1950’s era movie that I eventually caught up with as a kid that is titled The Day the Earth Stood Still. The plot: A flying saucer lands on the Mall in Washington D.C.. With, but of course, all you-know-what breaking loose as the President has it surrounded by soldiers and tanks.

But I do think that when there are enough U.S. space craft/computers/electronics zipping through space and sending back photos of “unexplained mysteries” and “UFO lights” that at a minimum should be arousing simple media curiosity in some sort of persistent fashion with more attention to be paid.

In short? Stay tuned. And if there really is a visit from space landing on the Washington Mall it may be better than a movie!

And The New York Post will be watching.

On CNN, Virginia Dem Lectures GOP on Jim Crow—While His State Tried to Gerrymander #Political

On Friday's CNN This Morning, host Audie Cornish gave Rep. James Walkinshaw (D-Va.) free rein to lecture Republicans on the evils of partisan redistricting, complete with hyperbolic comparisons to Jim Crow poll taxes and literacy tests.

The guest warned that GOP moves in the South would backfire, as blue states could retaliate by wiping out Republican districts on the West Coast: "Republicans are gonna come to regret it... We can have a West Coast where there's not a single Republican district. That can be done."

Nice Republican districts you got there — wouldn’t want to see nuthin’ happen to them!

It took real chutzpah for Virginia Democrat Walkinshaw (who's been in office for just seven months) to condemn Republican redistricting. Virginia, under newly-elected Democrat Gov. Abigail Spanberger, just pushed through a mid-decade redistricting referendum in April 2026 designed to flip four Republican-held congressional seats and turn the state from competitive (6D-5R) to a near-Democratic lock (10D-1R).

During her campaign, Spanberger piously pledged “I have no plans to redistrict Virginia.” Once in office, she strongly backed the effort. Later on Friday, the Virginia Supreme Court overturned it.

When Daily Signal executive editor Rob Bluey, an MRC alum, politely pointed out the hypocrisy, Walkinshaw hid behind the fact that voters had narrowly passed a referendum approving the redistricting, unlike in Tennessee, where the legislature acted directly. But Virginia Democrats had driven the entire process and the maps, spending tens of millions of dollars and ending up with just 51.7 percent of the vote.

Message to Walkinshaw: The Constitution established a representative democracy in which the people’s elected representatives are charged with adopting legislation — including on electoral districts. Referenda are the exception, not the rule, and often provide less protection for minority rights.

Parroting the approved Democrat talking point, Walkinshaw made an absurd analogy to poll taxes and literacy tests, dutifully accusing the Supreme Court’s Voting Rights Act ruling of enabling “a return to Jim Crow” in how we draw districts.

Cornish ended the segment by playing the race card against Republicans, claiming black-majority districts were necessary “to compensate for the fact that white voters did not vote for non-white candidates.”

Tell that to Black Republican Rep. Byron Donalds, whose Florida 19th District is roughly 70% white and only 6% black.

Both parties gerrymander when they hold power. The “redistricting war” Walkinshaw decried is bipartisan — with Democrats now crying foul after the Supreme Court made clear that race can’t predominate over traditional districting principles.

CNN’s selective outrage and failure to challenge Walkinshaw’s hypocrisy exemplify the network’s lopsided liberal tilt.

JAMES WALKINSHAW: Like, look, if you look at this redistricting that's taking place across the South now, where it's a grab based on race and power, Republicans are gonna come to regret it. Because in advance of the 2028 election cycle, there's a lot more blue states that can go back and redistrict again. We can have a West Coast where there's not a single Republican district. That can be done.

I don't think that's good for the country. We'd be much better off if we join hands and end this redistricting war and ban partisan gerrymandering, but clearly, that's not the direction Republican-controlled states are going.

AUDIE CORNISH: Can I go back to you really quickly, because I feel like people don't fully understand that when the Supreme Court made this ruling, it wasn't just saying you can devalue race as an issue in doing maps, that that isn't right. They also, to my reading, elevated partisanship. It is now legal to say that. If someone takes you to court and you say, "Look, we're doing this for partisan advantage," that's kosher, that's legally it.

ROB BLUEY: I would argue that it's no different than what Abigail Spanberger and Gavin Newsom did in Virginia and California, because they were obviously trying to maximize the Democrats' advantage too.

WALKINSHAW: I think it's important to note, you mentioned California and Virginia. A big difference is, Gavin Newsom and Abigail Spanberger didn't decide on the maps in California and Virginia. The voters of California and Virginia decided to redraw the maps. Big difference between that and what we just saw happen in Tennessee.

I'm from the Commonwealth of Virginia. I live very close to the Fairfax County Courthouse. And from roughly 1904 until the 1960s, if you were black and you wanted to vote at that courthouse, you had to do a poll tax, pay a poll tax, or perform a literacy test. And they said, "It's not about race, right? There's no racist intent here. We just have some standard for everyone who votes."

Supreme Court's basically saying the same thing. It's a return to Jim Crow in terms of how we draw districts.

CORNISH: I just want to bring up one other thing I've been thinking about. You know, there's been an exodus of black Republicans from Congress. And one of the things that these black districts were supposed to do is kind of compensate for the fact that white voters did not vote for non-white candidates, right?

ABC, CBS, NBC Go All In on ‘Chaotic’ Tennessee Redistricting Protests #Political

On Friday, all of the big three network morning shows had segments on Tennessee redistricting and the protests that followed, with special attention given to props used in the protests led by State Representative Justin Pearson (D). Of course, they loved the signs about “white supremacy,” a banner that read “Jim Crow 2.0,” along with the burning of a paper with the Confederate Flag on it in a seeming revival of the ‘Tennessee Three’ controversy from 2023.

First, CBS Mornings continued its comparison of redistricting to the civil rights movement with a continuation of Thursday’s segment by correspondent Ed O’Keefe.

Host Nate Burleson introduced the story as Republicans trying “to eliminate the state’s only black majority district.” Burleson described the protests, which included loud language and screams from Democratic representatives along with signs that claimed “white supremacy,” as a “passionate demonstration.”

O’Keefe’s news package began as his voice played over some protest audio from the Tennessee Capitol as he described the situation as “chaos,” as protesters tried to “stop legislation breaking up the state’s only Democratic House seat.”

The protesters' attempt to “stop legislation” was passed over as he then highlighted a banner on the house floor held by a Democratic representative that read “Jim Crow 2.0” and the paper Confederate flag burning by Pearson.

O’Keefe interviewed CBS election law analyst David Becker, who said the recent Supreme Court ruling on the Voting Rights Act will “really minimize the impact of the minority population in a state.”

In a continuation of Thursday, O’Keefe returned to Democratic Congressman Shomari Figures of Alabama, who called all southern redistricting discrimination.

Then, O’Keefe interviewed civil rights activist Doris Crenshaw, as he connected the redistricting to Rosa Parks:

O’KEEFE: Civil rights activist Doris Crenshaw, who at 12 years old started working on civil rights issues with Rosa Parks, was at an information session hosted by Congressman Figures Thursday night.

[To Crenshaw] You've spent your entire life working for more representation, and they may be on the verge of taking it away.

CRENSHAW: It does not sit well with me, and it shouldn't sit well with the people of goodwill in this country.

On ABC’s Good Morning America, fill-in anchor Rachel Scott introduced a story on redistricting focused on Tennessee, as the chyron read, “Push to Redistrict Sparks Protests.”

Reporter Jay O’Brien framed the redistricting as an end to black-district representation in Congress, as he ignored, like all the other shows, how Tennessee’s black majority district was represented by white Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN).

His report talked over images and videos of “heated protests” screaming and holding up signs, provided by organizations like the ACLU, with phrases such as “Protect the South: No Jim Crow Maps.”

Special highlight was, once again, given to Pearson, as the ABC package showed him walking through protesters while protesting, along with images of Democratic representatives holding up fists. At the end of the package, ABC showed another member of 2023’s ‘Tennessee Three,’ State Representative Justin Jones, as he held up a sign that read, “Fight Against White Supremacy.”

Lastly, on NBC’s Today, the Tennessee redistricting was briefly covered by fill-in anchor Willie Geist, as similar images of protests played on screen:

Back here at home, Tennessee lawmakers passed a new congressional map yesterday, dividing up the state's lone majority-black district. The redrawn district lines put Republicans in position to gain a seat in this fall's mid-term elections and to secure full control over Tennessee's congressional delegation.

CBS’s comparison of redistricting to the civil rights movement showed the true direction media coverage wanted to go on the topic. As the other networks highlighted protests in Tennessee, it seemed like the networks were hungry to return to the ‘Tennessee Three’ story from 2023 as they returned to highlight Pearson and Jones.

They voted to eliminate the state's only black majority district on Thursday. Opponents held a passionate demonstration. They say this will punish black voters. ED O’KEEFE: Chaos at the Tennessee capital in Nashville Thursday, as Democratic lawmakers and protesters tried to stop legislation breaking up the state's only Democratic House seat.

Yelling, holding signs, calling the move ‘Jim Crow 2.0.’ Even burning a printout of the confederate flag.

STATE REP. JUSTIN PEARSON (D): [Holding up Burning Confederate Flag] We will not go back.

O’KEEFE: The change follows a Supreme Court ruling last week that narrowed the Voting Rights Act.

CBS News election law analyst David Becker says the ruling has this effect.

DAVID BECKER: And in some cases, that's going to mean that they blanche their entire state's delegation and really minimize the impact of the minority population in a state.

O’KEEFE: That's the concern for Democratic Congressman Shomari Figures of Montgomery, Alabama, where a similar pending Supreme Court decision could draw his majority-black district off the map.

REP. SHOMARI FIGURES (D-AL): What that translates into is this. It is okay to discriminate against Democrats who are black, but it is not okay to discriminate against black Democrats. Doesn't make a lot of sense.

O’KEEFE: Alabama's Attorney General says it is a question of reflecting the state's Republican tilt.

ALABAMA AG STEVE MARSHALL: Alabama is a conservative state. I expect we will have conservative representatives.

O’KEEFE: Civil rights activist Doris Crenshaw, who at 12 years old started working on civil rights issues with Rosa Parks, was at an information session hosted by Congressman Figures Thursday night.

RACHEL SCOTT: Now to the protests over the nationwide race to redraw congressional maps across the country for partisan advantage ahead of the midterm elections. Jay O'Brien is in Washington with the latest. And Jay, Tennessee now the latest state to approve a redistricting plan.

JAY O’BRIEN: That's right, Rachel. Good morning to you. Tennessee Republicans passed a new congressional map yesterday, likely to eliminate the state's only majority-black district which is the only House seat held by a Democrat there.

The move sparking heated protests inside the Tennessee state capitol as the votes were taking place.

Tennessee is now the first state to redraw its congressional maps after a Supreme Court decision last week weakened the Voting Rights Act protections against racial discrimination and gerrymandering. The Tennessee chapter of the NAACP has already filed a lawsuit to block these maps from going into effect. Other republican states, though, like Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina, are now also moving to redraw their maps.

It’s all just the latest in a months-long wave of redistricting that swept through Republican and Democrat controlled states ahead of the November midterms, Michael?

WILLIE GEIST: Back here at home, Tennessee lawmakers passed a new congressional map yesterday, dividing up the state's lone majority-black district. The redrawn district lines put Republicans in position to gain a seat in this fall's mid-term elections and to secure full control over Tennessee's congressional delegation.

Tennessee now becomes the ninth state to enact a new congressional map ahead of the midterms. Republicans could pick up as many as 14 seats as a result of the changes compared with 10 for Democrats, though several maps face litigation.

Today, the Tennessee House passed a redrawn congressional map that responds to aggressive liberal gerrymanders in California and Virginia, and wipes out the state’s lone Democrat seat. This vote drew heated reactions, including a deranged Rep. Justin Pearson exploding at law enforcement. However, the Elitist Media chose to protect him from any scrutiny.

Pearson, presumably angry after having his challenge to incumbent Rep. Steve Cohen vaporized, screamed at a Tennessee State Trooper there to protect him:

TONY DOKOUPIL: We turn now to Tennessee, which today became the first state to redraw voting districts after last week's Supreme Court ruling limiting lawmakers ability to take race into account. The move broke up a majority black district and added to a national controversy over altered election maps. At least eight states have made a change. Our Ed O'Keefe is tracking it all. Ed, you’re in Alabama, which could be next to change the map, but tell us about Tennessee today.

ED O’KEEFE: Well, Tony, Tennessee Democrats could do little more than protest the move, and they did that standing in a line, shouting at Republicans as they voted overwhelmingly to drop the state's one democratic congressional seat. Authorities removed several individuals during the chaos, while outside the chamber, one state house Democrat burned a copy of the Confederate flag. Today's vote means this Democratic district, which encompasses the mostly black city of Memphis, will be split into three districts, designed to favor Republicans. The NAACP is now suing to block the change. Similar redrawing may soon happen in southern states like Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, and here in Alabama, all based on last week's Supreme Court ruling that narrows the scope of the Voting Rights Act. Tony.

TOM LLAMAS: We're back now with the intense fight over the redistricting in Tennessee. Democratic lawmakers protesting after Republicans in the state legislature passed a new congressional map in the wake of that landmark Supreme Court decision. That new map will split up the state’s only Democratic district, a majority black district, paving the way for Republicans to gain another hot- another seat.

They ran the Confederate flag burning, but nothing on Pearson. That tiny brief is substantially more than ABC ran on the Tennessee redraw, which was absolutely nothing.

Suffice it to say that coverage would be substantially different had a Republican in, say, Virginia had such an outburst. With a media darling blowing up at law enforcement (and perhaps miraculously evading a painful arrest), coverage is just (D)ifferent.

Vulgar Tennessee Dem Confronts Troopers Clearing Activists Disrupting Capitol #Political

A Democrat state representative shouted vulgarities and slurs at Tennessee Highway Patrol officers Thursday as the troops tried to clear out activists disrupting a House legislative session before a vote to adopt a new congressional districting map expected to favor Republicans.

After invading the Capitol, liberal activists reportedly threw parachutes from the House gallery and may have set off a fire alarm. As they were being removed, Rep. Justin Pearson (D-Memphis) confronted the officers and began shouting obscenities at them, claiming that his brother was in the crowd of agitators.

Video shot by Nashville ABC affiliate WKRN News 2 shows Rep. Pearson hurling obscenities at the troopers.

“My brother ain’t doing nothing to nobody. Hey, hey, he’ll walk out by himself. Move the f*** back! Boy!” and “What the f*** is wrong with you? You stupid motherf****r!” Rep. Pearson yells at a trooper who was trying to clear the unruly crowd.

Later that day, in a post on social media, Pearson claimed that his brother was among a group of activists who had been taken into custody when they reportedly refused to move after Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton directed that the gallery be cleared.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Lt. Bill Miller confirmed to WKRN that three individuals had been taken into custody for “disrupting the session of the House of Representatives.”

Pearson later took to social media to announce that THP took his brother into custody after he and other protesters reportedly refused to move after Tennessee House Speaker Cameron Sexton directed that the gallery be cleared.

In a statement to News 2, THP Lt. Bill Miller confirmed that three individuals were taken into custody for “disrupting the session of the House of Representatives.”

Despite the disruption, both the House and Senate passed the redistricting bill on Thursday, which Republican Governor Bill Lee then signed into law.

Colbert Portrays Obama as Pillar of Executive Restraint, Fondly Recalls Tan Suit #Political

As CBS’s The Late Show prepares to wind down operations in less than three weeks, host Stephen Colbert traveled to Chicago for a lengthy interview with former President Barack Obama to hype the opening of his presidential library and museum. Amid a flurry of other softballs, Colbert would suggest that in contrast to President Trump, Obama was a pillar of executive restraint, and recall the old liberal idea that the worst thing Obama ever did was tear a tan suit.

One softball Colbert lobbed was, “Fifty to 100 years from now, when somebody comes to this center, what do you want them to take away from the experience? What do you want them to learn about you and the legacy of your administration?”

Obama gave a generic-sounding response of, “I want them to put my presidency in context, right? I assume in my eulogy somewhere it will be mentioned that he was the first African American president. But what I want people to understand is that there was this extraordinary journey this country took to get to that point, and I was an episode in that… And if I do that, then 50 years from now when people come, presumably they'll still be inspired by that story. Not mine alone, but ours.”

Colbert then moved on, “There's often a conversation about the restriction or the need to restrict certain executive powers. I might have asked you this when you were running for president back in the day. Like, is there any power that President Bush has taken that you would say, ‘No, I don't want that power,' because it keeps accumulating. Now that you're no longer in office, what powers do you believe the president should not have?”

The man who was always bragging about his pen and phone and threatening, “If Congress doesn’t act, I will,” replied, “There are a couple that I followed even though they were law. And I want us — we're going to have to do some work to return to this basic norm, and we probably now have to codify it. The White House shouldn't be able to direct the attorney general to go around prosecuting whoever the president wants prosecuted.”

He also claimed, “The idea is that the attorney general is the people's lawyer. It's not the president's consigliere.”

What about a wingman? Again, any reference to the IRS and Tea Party was conveniently ignored as Obama rolled on, “There's a bunch of stuff that, you know, we can overcome. We can't overcome the politicization of the criminal justice system. The awesome power of the state. You can't have a situation where whoever is in charge starts using that to go after their political enemies or reward their friends, right?... I would consult with Eric Holder, with my attorney general, all the time, around broad policy issues, but that's different than who do you charge, what case do you bring?”

When current Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth talks about woke-ism in the military, the Obama era stands out. Nevertheless, Obama added, “The second thing is the military. Don't politicize our military. As president, you are commander-in-chief. You are responsible for directing our military. But there had been a whole series of norms that were in place to ensure that you weren't trying to make that military loyal to you as opposed to the constitution and the people of the United States. We're going to have to find mechanisms to restore that.”

Later, the duo went on a tour of the museum, and Colbert sarcastically wondered, “Is there a wing dedicated to greatest blunders? Is the tan suit here? I’m asking if the tan suit is here.”

After Obama declared that “I own that suit proudly,” Colbert pulled out a photo and wondered, “We have this if you want to put it on display someplace. A shattered nation looked up and saw that. When you look back at the tan suit, what occurs to you?”

Obama simply wondered, “Why?”

The real “why?” is why do Colbert and media types insist that the tan suit was the most controversial thing Obama ever did?

It was one small chapter. And if I do that, then 50 years from now when people come, presumably they'll still be inspired by that story. Not mine alone, but ours.

COLBERT: Yes, the good future isn't one where they say "Oh, we totally know what he means."

OBAMA: Yes.

COLBERT: The bad future is “What's he talking about?” There's often a conversation about the restriction or the need to restrict certain executive powers.

COLBERT: The norm is that it's independent.

Stephen: Right, even when it's Bobby Kennedy.

OBAMA: --Bobby Kennedy. And so, two of the core principles of a democracy and we can survive a lot. Bad policy, funky elections. There's a bunch of stuff that, you know, we can overcome. We can't overcome the politicization of the criminal justice system. The awesome power of the state. You can't have a situation where whoever is in charge starts using that to go after their political enemies or reward their friends, right? So another power maybe I would say, although this is in the constitution, it's harder to change, but maybe don't pardon people who have given you a bunch of campaign contributions. Or invested in your businesses. So, restoring some sense of the Justice Department being independent in making judgments about specific cases and prosecutions.

I would consult with Eric Holder, with my attorney general, all the time, around broad policy issues, but that's different than who do you charge, what case do you bring?

The second thing is the military. Don't politicize our military. As president, you are commander-in-chief. You are responsible for directing our military. But there had been a whole series of norms that were in place to ensure that you weren't trying to make that military loyal to you as opposed to the constitution and the people of the United States. We're going to have to find mechanisms to restore that. And then, you know, a good policy that I'd like to see followed is that the president of the United States shouldn't have a bunch of side hustles that various companies and foreign entities can invest in.

Adam Mockler Gets Into It With Conservative, Again, And CNN's Abby Phillip Defends Him #Political

Last Thursday on CNN's NewsNight with Abby Phillip, AdamMockler of Meidas Touch Network disrespected CNN commentator Scott Jennings into losing his cool, big time. It wasn't pretty, but despite his performance that night, Mockler was invited back on Monday night, and even though Jennings wasn't there, he managed to exhibit many of the same unfortunate qualities from last week.

Phillip began by displaying numbers from various polls showing lack of support for the war, and focused on a Marquette Law School Survey showing that 80% of those 18-29, say there was no sufficient reasons to go to war. She then turned to 23-year-old Mockler who was full of it -- talking points, that is.

MOCKLER: For my entire life, the United States has been at war with some country in the Middle East, and young people have constantly been told that this will make us safer and make us better off. But when we look around at the world today, we are less safe and we are worse off.... And now Gen Z-ers are going to the same thing with Iran....This war is failing.... And I'm sorry, I'm not buying this trust the process line. I don't trust the same people who got us into the prior wars, amassed trillions of dollars in debts, and are not putting America first on the global stage.

Phillip then seemed to endorse what she had just heard as she addressed Noah Rothman, Senior Writer at National Review.

PHILLIP: Is it fair for young people to have that level of distrust of the people, to Adam's point, who maybe defended the last war and were wrong and are defending this war too?

ROTHMAN: I don't think so. I think honestly, Adam, that's immensely ungrateful to American service personnel and the people who keep us safe every day. After 9/11 it was by no means guaranteed that there would be no mass casualty terrorist attack on American soil.... And after the attack on Iraq and the elimination of Saddam Hussein's regime, we took a terrorist supporting enterprise off the map. We don't talk about Iraq anymore as a threat to national security, because it isn't.

Rothman continued to attempt to educate young Mockler, while also taking him to task.

ROTHMAN: And those who would pretend as though Iran is not a national security threat, are just frankly dismissive of the extent to which American service personnel get up every day to stop these people from executing the attacks on American and their allies that they plan every single day.... And I just think it's just ungrateful.
MOCKLER: I feel less safe due to the actions of our leaders. I'm incredibly grateful for our servicemen here.

Later in the segment, Rothman went back to his original response to Mockler.

ROTHMAN: To clarify what I had said previously, is that it is, in my view, ungrateful to American service personnel to say that they have not kept us safe when we do not measure-

MOCKLER: That's not what I said.

ROTHMAN: Allow me to finish my statement.

At this point, Phillip felt the need to speak up for her Gen Z guest.

PHILLIP: But but he didn't say that.

ROTHMAN: He's saying that we can measure nonevents, which is to suggest that the attacks that have not happened, which none of us are aware of, we're not we're not avoidable because he's talking about because of the nature of these conflicts. And the conflicts themselves are what inspires the attacks.

PHILLIP: But that's not really the argument that he's making. The argument that he's making is that is that the people who made the arguments to go into these conflicts in the first place misled, which is a fact. And and secondly, that the conflicts ended up lasting a very long time, costing a lot of American treasure, and those are also facts. He didn't say it's because they didn't keep us safe. That's not actually what he said.

Rothman then shot back, "Well it is actually what he said."

It seems pretty obvious that Phillip didn't believe that Mockler was capable of presenting his point of view without her stepping in to protect him. His lack of respect and decorum has also proven problematic, and if he were a young Conservative, his days on CNN would have already have been over.

Big Four News Apps: Media Gerrymandering You Didn’t Vote For #Political

Not much unlike the lopsided gerrymandering popping up across the country in Democrat-run states from California to Virginia, the Big Four News Apps are tilting the media and information map to almost completely favor one side, the left.

Take the state where the Media Research Center is headquartered, for example. Democrats’ redistricting effort in Virginia could effectively turn a relatively balanced state with a six-Democrat to five-Republican jurisdictional split into a 10-to-1 jurisdictional tyranny.

As many Americans likely saw in reports across the Big Four News Apps (Apple News, Google News, Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo News) on Wednesday morning, Democrats may have scored a narrow redistricting referendum victory on April 21 that could do just that. And while an April 28 Virginia Supreme Court denial of a request to “stay” an injunction against the referendum perhaps offers a glimpse of hope for Republicans living in the state, even if the referendum vote is ultimately upheld, at least there was actually a democratized process by which citizens could make their voices heard.

Not so for the news and information being pumped out by default on the Big Four News Apps. MRC Free Speech America research on the Big Four News Apps makes one thing clear: the news aggregators are overwhelmingly pushing elitist media outlets promoting a left-wing agenda.

So, yes, a 10-to-1 ratio is bad if you’re in the minority in Virginia. But if you’re getting news and information from the Big Four News Apps in America, the ratio is much worse. Try 14-to-1! That’s the left-to-right ratio getting pumped out by the Big Four News Apps onto Americans’ digital devices.

A recent MRC Special Report gives the breakdown:

“Throughout the first five months of MRC-collected data, the Big Four News Apps promoted a whopping 7,265 articles from left-leaning outlets out of a total 10,338 articles from AllSides-rated outlets in their morning editions. That means the Big Four News Apps promoted leftist sources 70% of the time. Compare that gaudy figure to the paltry 539 articles (5%) from right-leaning outlets, and the overt bias of the Big Four News Apps becomes abundantly clear.”

The first half of April didn’t look much better. From the same report: “The Big Four News Apps promoted 799 articles (65%) from left-leaning outlets out of a total of 1,222 articles from April 1 - April 18, 2026. Meanwhile, the news aggregators promoted a paltry 72 articles (6%) from right-leaning outlets during the same period.”

And with the Big Four News Apps collectively reaching over 100 million Americans each week, the volume of articles from elitist media getting pushed to the masses is massive.

But it’s not just the sheer volume that the Big Four News Apps use to stack the deck against conservative thought. As noted earlier, it’s also the messaging that is being pushed from a leftist perspective.

One-sided messaging coupled with volume can pack a horrible punch.

MRC President David Bozell put it plainly in his recent Op-Ed with the Washington Examiner headlined “Rig the headlines, shift the polls.” Bozell wrote, “If millions of Americans are exposed to a steady stream of negative framing, stripped of context and alternative perspectives, it should not be surprising when polling begins to reflect that environment.”

Look no further than two recent MRC Special Reports for just how lopsided the messaging is.

The first, headlined “Special Report: 634 Left vs. 41 Right — While Trump Fights Iran, Big Four News Apps Attack Trump,” exposed the Big Four News Apps for favoring leftist outlets over right-leaning outlets in Iran war coverage. From the Special Report:

“Despite the unprecedented success of the U.S.-led action, the news aggregators’ curation of stories ensured that most Iran coverage in its top 20 morning editions from March 1 through April 19 came from left-leaning outlets, often using sensational, negative and fear-driven framing that undercut the United States and undermined the Trump administration’s efforts to win the war.”

Drilling down more into the individual articles the news aggregators shared reveals just how potent messaging can be. One glaring example from the Iran war coverage: Google News promoted leftist rag The Atlantic, which attempted to explain “Trump’s Logic for Blockading the Blockaders” in the Strait of Hormuz. The subheader from the outlet read, “He wants to use economic pain to weaken Iran—even if that threatens the global economy.” At least three other articles, from right-leaning outlets (American Thinker, Hot Air and New York Post) could have actually provided a glimpse into what Trump’s logic might have been, but Google News did not deign to share those stories with its viewers.

The second MRC Special Report, headlined “Special Report: 0 Out of 255 Stories: Google News, Microsoft’s MSN & Yahoo News Ignore SPLC Scandal,” detailed how the three news aggregators ignored the Southern Poverty Law Center DOJ indictment altogether in their top stories in the mornings after the scandal broke. Similarly glaring, as revealed in this piece, were the articles that the Big Four News Apps refused to promote in the morning editions. Fox News, the New York Post, Breitbart News, Newsmax and The Daily Wire all wrote on the SPLC indictment, but none of them made the top 20 stories in the Big Four News Apps’ morning editions.
