ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel unveiled his proposal on how to end the war with Iran on Tuesday that included sending President Trump to Iran and making him the new ayatollah. According to Kimmel, this would not be far-fetched because Trump and the ayatollah share many of the same views on things like free speech and women’s rights.

Kimmel began, “And listen, I know I'm not an expert when it comes to war and this sort of thing. I know I'm not the president's son-in-law. But I feel like I have an idea of how we could finally end this and see what you think of this. So, part of the problem is we killed the ayatollah, or Israel killed the ayatollah, but Iran replaced him with an even ayatollah-ier ayatollah and Trump doesn't like the leader they picked, and we don't like the leader we picked, okay? So, stay with me here. Maybe we can kill two birds with one stone and make Donald Trump the new ayatollah. We let him go run Iran, and then we lock him out when he tries to come back.”

It’s nice Kimmel finally admitted he’s not a military expert because as recently as Monday, he was pretending that he was.

As it was, Kimmel continued, “Think about it. Makes a lot of sense, you know? Iran has palaces made of gold for him to bulldoze and make even golder. They have a lot of the same views when it comes to free speech, women's rights. It's a slam dunk, and all he really needs is a beard, and this war is done. I, for one, cannot think of a better way for Trump to deliver on his promise to make Iran a living hell than to become their leader.”

This would be at least the fourth time since the start of the year that Kimmel has compared Trump to Iran, and no matter how many times Kimmel repeats it, it will not suddenly become true. If Trump and Iran really had the same view of free speech, Kimmel would be rotting away in a dungeon somewhere or possibly dead, and his wife would not be able to use Jimmy Kimmel Live! as a platform for her abortion activism.

Scarborough Lectures Trump on Blasphemy, But MS NOW Is Like the ACLU on Church and State #Political

On Tuesday’s Morning Joe, MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough slipped into full sermon mode—lecturing viewers on Christianity while accusing Donald Trump of committing “unforgivable” blasphemy over a social media post featuring an image apparently portraying him as Jesus.

It's more than a little weird to see the leftists who sound like ACLU fans who want to separate the church and state get so excited about blasphemy, when they don't really mind God being mocked by leftist standup comedians from Bill Maher on down.

But they want to play up how offensive this was to Christians. Scarborough laid it on thick:

SCARBOROUGH: Jesus says everything is forgivable except blasphemy, blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, certainly blasphemy against Jesus. So it appears at least for a handful of public Christians who have spent the past decade more interested in gaining his support than actually following the Bible, it was even too much for them yesterday.

Scarborough doubled down, portraying himself as a kind of on-air catechist.

“As always, we offer guidance to those who claim to be good Christians, but don’t talk like they understand anything about Christianity,” he said. “Just get a Bible, get a red-letter edition, read the red letters. It will all come very clear to you. It’s not that hard.”

That condescension was matched by selective gatekeeping. Scarborough repeatedly mocked Vice President J.D. Vance as a “newly, newly converted Catholic,” which is a little strange, considering Vance was received into the church in 2019. That's longer ago than the Cheneys and Kinzingers converting to the MS NOW side of the aisle.

By that logic, it’s reasonable to ask whether—and if so, when—Scarborough left the Southern Baptist church. He often describes himself as having been “raised” in it—past tense—while positioning himself as a theological authority on air.

Co-host Willie Geist piled on, asserting that Trump’s post was “just the definition of blasphemy,” while suggesting Trump “doesn’t understand religion” and posted it out of ignorance.

The segment’s most muddled moment came from Mika Brzezinski. Although she began by identifying herself as a Catholic, she then shifted to speaking “as a woman,” claiming Trump’s explanation—that the image depicted him as a doctor—was “gaslighting,” citing "the cost of health care, the fall of Roe, and the list goes on."

Mika's framing veered into incoherence. The very Catholic teaching Scarborough was ostensibly defending includes firm opposition to abortion—making Brzezinski’s invocation of Roe an awkward fit for the argument she was attempting to advance.

In the end, it was classic MS NOW: confident moralizing, shaky on the religion.

WILLIE GEIST: And not an isolated incident. Of course, this comes in the context of his attack on Pope Leo, his ongoing attacks on Pope Leo.

The next day, he posts himself as Christ. Really, just the definition of blasphemy right there in one post, the picture saying, I actually am Jesus. I actually and the healer.

And as you say, he doesn't know that. He doesn't understand religion, he doesn't understand faith, so maybe he actually didn't know that, he thought it was funny or something. And so he posted it, and he saw the backlash, and this is a very, very rare occasion where perhaps he understood that maybe he screwed up, pulled it down.

But then the explanation shows such contempt for his supporters and the people who believe in him that he would say, oh no, I thought I was a doctor, let's move along. No, you didn't. We know exactly what was going on there.

SCARBOROUGH: He didn't understand the degree of blasphemy that was, and that even for some of his most loyal, faithful, blinded Christian conservatives, that went too far.

I've got to tell you, Catholics have been having quite a bitter chuckle, though, Mika, over a guy who decided to become a Catholic last week, or a little earlier than that. And then said, I'm going to do two things. I'm going to write a book about being a Catholic, and I'm going to attack the Pope.

And I'm going to lecture the Pope about how he should do his job at the Vatican. This, of course, is J.D. Vance, who decides he's lecturing the Pontiff on what he should and should not do. And acting as if he's shocked and stunned and deeply saddened that the Pope actually talks about things that pertain to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Blessed are the peacemakers.

I've just got to say to J.D. Vance, newly, newly converted Catholic, if you don't like what the Pope's saying, don't take it up with the Pope. Take it up with Jesus Christ because those are the words.

Mika, I want you to hear, again, this guy who came to the Catholic faith late, decided to write a book about the Catholic faith and then decided to attack the Pope, telling him how he should do his job.

Well, I want to play a clip of him yesterday. It was, it was delightful.

JD VANCE: I think that in some cases, it would be best for the Vatican to stick to matters of morality, to stick to matters of, you know, what's going on in the Catholic Church, and let the President of the United States stick to dictating American public policy. But when they're in conflict, they're in conflict. I don't worry about it too much, Bret. I think it's a natural thing. I'm sure it'll happen in the future, and it's not that big of a deal that it happened in the past.

SCARBOROUGH: Matters of morality. That's exactly what he's talking about, buddy. Come on, pal. He's talking about matters of morality. Pope after Pope after Pope has been critical of war. He's been critical when people have been oppressed, like people have been oppressed in the United States because of mass deportation policies.

And Mika, as always, we offer guidance to those who claim to be good Christians, but don't talk like they understand anything about Christianity. Just get a Bible, get a red letter edition, read the red letters. It will all come very clear to you. It's not that hard.

CNN Host to CA Republican: I Haven’t ‘Seen Proof’ Swalwell’s Creepiness Was Covered Up #Political

On Monday’s Inside Politics, CNN host Dana Bash spoke to California Republican gubernatorial candidate Steve Hilton about the wild state of the race in light of the sudden torrent of publicized allegations late last week against Democrat Congressman Eric Swalwell, asserting to Hilton there hasn’t been any “proof” there’s been an effort to hide and/or leave unaddressed rumors of Swalwell being a creep.

Following an opening question about how Hilton believes the race will change with Swalwell dropping out, Bash stepped up to defend her fellow liberals by insisting she hasn’t “seen any proof that people knowing about allegations that he raped people.”

Bash further waved the proverbial pom-poms by turning the tables on Hilton by playing whataboutism with President Trump since “[h]e was, of course, found liable in a civil suit of sexual abuse and bragged about grabbing women by the you-know-what.”

“You’re okay accepting that, but clearly upset about the allegations of Eric Swalwell,” she demanded.

Hilton didn’t back down in blasting “the hypocrisy” and reasserted “it was an open secret about his behavior on Capitol Hill, and the extent of it” and he’s heard accounts… from many Democrat friends involved in politics in California.”

Addressing Bash’s lazy attempt to downplay Swalwell by invoking Trump, Hilton noted “that was litigated many times, including in two general elections in America, and people came to their view about that.”

Because seemingly everything must have a Trump angle for the elite media at CNN, Bash argued Hilton was engaged in “hypocrisy” because he’s “comfortable” accepting the endorsement of someone “found liable in [a] civil suit” for rape while denouncing a Democrat for alleged sexual misconduct (click “expand”):

BASH: Well, let me just push you on that, because you used the word hypocrisy, and it is true that the President was re-elected after he was found liable in that civil suit, but it’s just a question about you and what you’re comfortable with. You’re still comfortable with this endorsement, even though you are, understandably, condemning the allegations against Eric Swalwell?

HILTON: Well, I voted for the President, as so many millions of Americans did, so I think that is the clear response to something where you get an endorsement from somebody you’ve already supported and you’ve already voted for. I think that speaks for itself. I’ve not weighed in specifically on the allegations, more on the hypocrisy of the Democrats, who’ve been lecturing us for all these years about their values and Me Too and how they’re there for the fight for women and so on, and yet, knowing about some of this stuff –

BASH: Yes.

HILTON: – they continue to back and endorse Eric Swalwell.

BASH: Yes. Again, unless you can tell me, I have not seen or heard any Democrat who knew about allegations of rape.

And those do not even address the security concerns Swalwell created by involving himself with Fang Fang.

The rest of the interview featured more of Bash hitting Hilton from the left.

In part while responding to questions of whether a Trump endorsement will “help you” and not “backfire,” Hilton emphasizing his economic platform: “[M]y message about how we’re going to make our state Cal-affordable, $3 gas, cut your electric bills in half, your first 100 grand tax-free, a home you can afford to buy, that’s got broad appeal across the board.”

Bash responded by conceding that lowering gas prices in California “was already a tall order” since “the gas price is always higher than the rest of the country,” but has been exacerbated by the Iran war: “I’m putting up on the screen here, the average price of gas in California is $5.89 a gallon. It was $4.55 just two months ago.”

Without mentioning California’s high gas tax being the highest in the nation, Hilton concluded the interview by emphasizing the need to drive prices down regardless of what happens in the Middle East (click “expand”):

You’re seeing the prices of gas in California have been surging for years as a direct result of Democrat policies. That was true before the situation in the Middle East, and it’s going to be true afterwards unless we change direction and that’s what I’m talking about, is to open up, as long as we’re using oil and gas in California, we should be using oil and gas from California rather than shipping it halfway around the world on giant supertankers spewing out carbon emissions. There’s common-sense things we can do to bring prices into line with what’s in the rest of the country. You have some states where it’s $3. It has been even during the Iran situation. The spike in gas prices in California as a result of Democrat policies is more than double the spike, which is obviously temporary from the situation in the Middle East, so I think that over time, once that temporary spike is reduced and we can move in a new common-sense direction on energy policy in California we can bring costs down to what they are in the rest of the country.

OMISSION: Amid Swalwell Swirl, Nets Still Avoid Cherfilus’ Chicanery #Political

The Elitist Media network newscasts had to scramble as late news broke of the decision made by cable news fixture and serial flatulator Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-CA) to resign from Congress after suspending his gubernatorial campaign due to sexual assault allegations. And under cover of the Swalwell story, the networks continue to run a major omission.

Per NBC News:

Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., announced his plans Monday to resign from Congress following calls from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle for him to step down amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations.

“I am aware of efforts to bring an immediate expulsion vote against me and other members. Expelling anyone in Congress without due process, within days of an allegation being made, is wrong. But it’s also wrong for my constituents to have me distracted from my duties. Therefore, I plan to resign my seat in Congress,” Swalwell wrote on X.

He didn't specify when exactly he intends to step down, saying instead that he would work with his staff to ensure it can “serve the needs of the good people of the 14th congressional district.”

In his statement, Swalwell apologized to his family, staff members and constituents for “mistakes in judgment I’ve made in my past.” However, he maintained that at least some of the allegations were false.

The newscasts each ran with Swalwell at or near the top of A-block, covering the allegations, his resignation and the coming retirement of U.S. Rep. Tony Gonzales (R-TX), who faces similar accusations of sexual improprieties. And yet the networks continue to refuse to cover the charges faced by U.S. Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL). Per her indictment:

The indictment alleges that the defendants conspired to steal that $5 million and routed it through multiple accounts to disguise its source. Prosecutors allege that a substantial portion of the misappropriated funds was used as candidate contributions to Cherfilus-McCormick’s 2021 congressional campaign and for the personal benefit of the defendants.

The indictment further alleges that Cherfilus-McCormick and Nadege Leblanc, 46, of Miramar, arranged additional contributions using straw donors, funneling other monies from the FEMA-funded Covid-19 contract to friends and relatives who then donated to the campaign as if using their own money.

This scandal has been festering since last November, and the recent House Ethics trial found Cherfilus-McCormick guilty of 25out of 27 charges. But coverage of this particular scandal has been nil.

These disparities in coverage do nothing but fuel speculation that the reason Swalwell is drawing the level of scrutiny is because of the California gubernatorial primary- with aid and comfort from the Elitist Media. The continued omission of the Cherfilus-McCormick scandal and subsequent calls for expulsion all but proves it.

On Saturday evening’s The Weekend: Primetime, MS NOW gave Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-Pa.) free rein to unload an anti-Trump rant without a word of pushback.

It's considered essential MS NOW content as the Democrat called Trump a “madman,” urged his removal via the 25th Amendment, and suggested that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had effectively maneuvered him into war with Iran. Throughout, she returned again and again to one word: “rubble.”

Six times, Dean invoked “the rubble,” at one point sounding less like a congresswoman than someone stuck in a Flintstones loop. It played like a pre-packaged line she was determined to deliver.

Dean’s suggestion that Netanyahu maneuvered Trump into war veers into a familiar and ugly trope—casting Israeli or Jewish leaders as puppet-masters pulling American strings.

Notably, there was no pushback on Dean’s “rubble”-fixated rant. Instead, the hosts quickly changed the subject, asking about the Eric Swalwell scandal.

There, Dean displayed the same penchant for repetition—calling the allegations “extraordinarily serious,” saying she takes them “very, very seriously,” that she takes any woman who comes forward “very, very seriously,” and labeling the situation a “very, very serious distraction”—before urging Swalwell to end his campaign.

The hosts engaged on that topic—making their silence in the face of her earlier claims about Trump and Netanyahu all the more conspicuous.

Not all of the liberal media is buying the Democrats’ Trump-as-“madman”/25th Amendment pitch. Over on CNN, host Michael Smerconish offered a different take, defending Trump against calls for his removal and arguing that what critics see as instability may instead be a deliberate “madman” strategy to keep adversaries off balance.

And I want to just make sure you understand something I noticed. This president will be remembered for the rubble. Notice how he went to war in Iran alongside Mr. Netanyahu, who left rubble Gaza.

Mr. Netanyahu came over to the Situation Room and said to our president, let's go to war in Iran. Go with me to war in Iran and Lebanon and in the theater. This is a president who will be remembered for the rubble and the children who are dead in the rubble, the futures who are extinguished in the rubble.

And to me, it's about the children in the rubble.

NO SHELTER: Sunday Shows Turn on Swalwell After New Rape Allegations #Political

The Elitist Media’s Sunday shows wasted no time in giving airtime to the recent lurid allegations that have surfaced against Congressman and California Gubernatorial candidate Eric Swalwell (D-Fang Fang). But their coverage itself seeks to avoid some of the broader substance of the issues.

Per The New York Post:

Within 24 hours, the Bay Area congressman went from Democratic frontrunner for California governor to facing pressure to not only end his campaign but resign from Congress — while now being the subject of a criminal sexual assault investigation into allegations by a former staffer she was raped while drunk at an April 2024 charity gala.

Three other women have made claims about sexual misconduct ranging from inappropriate messages or unwanted contact. The women have claimed they have documented visits to the hospital and contemporaneous messages with friends and family about the incidents.

One staffer has also claimed she woke up naked next to him in a hotel room in 2019 after a heavy night of drinking and didn’t remember what happened but felt physically like they’d had sex.

The Manhattan District Attorney’s Office launched a criminal probe into the woman’s rape claim.

These are pretty serious charges, the specific details of which did not get mentioned on the Sunday shows. The most thorough recitation of the allegations aired on CNN’s State of the Union:

DANA BASH: A growing chorus of Democrats are denouncing Congressman Eric Swalwell this weekend after CNN reported that four women made accusations of sexual misconduct against him. Those accusations range from inappropriate messages and pictures to unwanted kissing and touching, and, in one case, rape.

Here's Swalwell's response.

ERIC SWALWELL: These allegations of sexual assault are flat false. They're absolutely false. They did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything that I have. I have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past. But those mistakes are between me and my wife. And, to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this position.

This recent tranche of sexual allegations has been bifurcated from the allegations of financial impropriety which, along with his cease-and-desist letter to the FBI demanding the agency not release files detailing his interactions with the aforementioned Fang Fang. CNN’s Dana Bash centers squarely on the rape allegations.

On ABC’s This Week, co-host Jon Karl closed out the show’s in-studio panel segment with a quick question to former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on the anodyne and non-specific “serious sexual misconduct allegations.”

JON KARL: We don't have much time left, but I wanted the- the allegations against Eric Swalwell, which have not been independently confirmed by ABC, he's denied them all- but serious sexual misconduct allegations. And now you have a, you know, an army of Democrats, uh, abandoning his, uh, his campaign for governor. He was the leading candidate, uh, Democratic candidate for governor. And now he's facing calls to drop out from people like Nancy Pelosi.

KEVIN McCARTHY: Listen, let me be very clear. I tried to get rid of Swalwell six, eight years ago when I got the briefing, when I became leader with the FBI- Nancy Pelosi was in the room. I turned to her and said, how can you keep him on Intel? Intel is a select committee that only the leaders put on, that you know all the secrets that the members do not. I made a motion...

KARL: But- is this about sexual misconduct allegations or…

McCARTHY: It was a combination with the Chinese spy and it led to all that. Every member in Congress knows not to- not to let any young staffer get around Swalwell or Matt Gaetz. It- it’s- it's not a secret there. There's a reason why you didn't want those two people around. He was the leading candidate for governor. He probably could have won the primary and gotten there. But this all came forward. And these young women deserve justice.

DONNA BRAZILE: I agree…

KARL: Donna, should he drop out?

BRAZILE: His campaign is in a free fall right now, with top staffers leaving. And let me just say this, as someone who knows at least one of the victims that have come forward, I’m very concerned.

KARL: Thank you, Donna.

Karl did not follow up on the obvious point made here, which is that Swalwell was a known quantity. What did Pelosi and other leaders know, and when did they know it?

On NBC’s Meet the Press, Kristen Welker both-sidesed the Swalwell allegations by adding the Tony Gonzales allegations into her questions. She first engaged Rep. Byron Donalds:

Final question, I want to ask you about Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell of California who is facing allegations of sexual assault and misconduct from former members of his staff, allegations he denies. One House Republican has filed a motion to expel Mr. Swalwell from Congress. On the other side, Democrats say they're going to respond with a motion to expel Congressman Tony Gonzalez of Texas who is being investigated for allegations of sexual misconduct. Will you vote to expel Congressman Swalwell and will you vote to expel Congressman Gonzalez?

BYRON DONALDS: If the vote comes to the floor, I would be voting yes on both measures. These allegations are despicable and they demean the integrity of Congress. These things are just completely unacceptable and as far as I'm concerned, both gentlemen need to go home.

WELKER: All right. Congressman Donalds, thank you for being here on a jam-packed morning. We really appreciate it.

DONALDS: Thank you.

KRISTEN WELKER: I do want to ask you about your colleague Congressman Eric Swalwell. You heard me discussing this with Congressman Donalds. He's facing allegations of sexual assault from a former staff member which, we should say, which Swalwell says are completely false and politically motivated. Notable, though: House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Senator Adam Schiff, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi are calling for Swalwell to end his run for California governor. Do you think that Swalwell should drop out of the gubernatorial race?

PRAMILA JAYAPAL: I absolutely do. This is- as you know, I've been very vocal on behalf of survivors of the Epstein scandal, and I think that what we are seeing now is an emergence of women across the country who have been dismissed, told to shut up, told to move on, who have been abused by men in powerful positions. This is not a partisan issue. This cuts across party line, and it is depravity of the way that women have been treated, and I'm just inspired by the courage and the bravery of the women who came forward. This is clearly a pattern. I've already called for Congressman Swalwell to drop out of the gubernatorial race, and I think we have to hold everybody accountable.

WELKER: Do you think- you just heard Congressman Donalds say he would vote to expel Eric Swalwell. Will you vote to expel Eric Swalwell?

JAYAPAL: And Congressman Gonzales. I would. I've already said that I think that these things, these charges and allegations and the pattern of abuse and in Congressman Gonzales' case he actually admitted to the affair with the- or to the, you know, harassment with his staffer. This is also important for staffers across the Capitol to see that their bosses don't get to do this to them. So I do think that both of them need to step down from Congress, let these investigations happen, you know, but I think that this is very important that we believe women and that we show people across the Capitol and across the country that we will not accept this kind of behavior.

CBS's Face the Nation made no mention of l'affaire Swalwell.

This narrow coverage begs the question: why now, and why is this (D)ifferent from the serious ethics allegations against Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D-FL), which has drawn ZERO coverage whatsoever from the Sunday shows? The latter is not a top candidate for governor in California’s “jungle” primary, wherein the top two vote-getters advance to a runoff regardless of party affiliation.

A wounded Swalwell might manage hang on and draw votes from the Steyers, Porters, and Becerras of the world- and give a Republican a shot at winning the California governorship for the first time in a generation, which would be catastrophic to the left. Better to clear the deadwood and consolidate.

The press aids and abets this ruthless effort against someone who was formerly one of their darlings. At the end of the day, this is not about journalistic integrity but about assisting Democrats in their efforts to seize and hold power.

It didn’t take long for the tweeters to notice this New York Times book-review headline and insist it was the Real Deal, even if it seems like too bizarre for the Babylon Bee:

Times book reviewer Sadie Stein underlined that this might be the next book that public librarians will champion as a “free speech” moment to influence your children:

Let’s start with the content warnings. Hexes of the Deadwood Forest, the best-selling Polish author Agnieszka Szpila’s first book to be translated into English, includes the following: adult themes, adult content, adult language, violence, suicide, sexual assault, torture, murder, genocide, bestiality, cruelty to children, sex with moss, sex with grass, sex with mushrooms, sex with lichens, sex with feathers, sex with rotten vegetables and sex with frozen dirt.

Your final warning? All this gets weirdly tedious.

Europeans can be deeply weird people. The plot is something like this: “In a wealthy suburb of Warsaw, the monstrous C.E.O. of an equally monstrous oil company, Anna Frenza,” was living the dream of success. “But when Frenza is who goes viral for passionate, painful sexual congress with the trunk of an oak tree, she’s thrown into a mental hospital.”

Transported by either psychosis or mystical connection to the 16th-century Silesian ecclesiastical duchy of Neisse, Anna finds herself inhabiting the body of Mathilde Spalt, leader of the Earthen Ones, a pagan sect devoted to replacing patriarchal penetrative sex with a devotion to Nature….

Back in her present-day psych ward, Anna/Mathilde rallies her fellow inmates (mostly troublesome feminists or environmentalists) against what the narrator calls “a Polish Gilead, but without any of the well-tailored red dresses and cloaks.”

Since this uber-horny phantasmagoria is populated almost exclusively by grotesques — not merely the universally hideous men, but also women characterized only by their Valerie Solanas-level fundamentalism — by the novel’s end, the reader begins to understand the appeal of inanimate moss (if not bark).

Solanas was a radical feminist who shot Andy Warhol in 1968 and was institutionalized for several years.

None of this sounds like a book you'd like to read over a weekend. But that’s not to say that Stein doesn’t love the book. This is the last paragraph:

“I thank all women who, in their fight for equal rights and the well-being of our planet, are not afraid to use their madness as a political weapon,” the author writes in the acknowledgments. By these standards, this novel certainly deserves all the plaudits.

HBO’s Bill Maher decided he would be the one to ruin the whole country’s fun on Friday’s episode of Real Time by trashing NASA’s Artemis moon mission that concluded about an hour after he started taping. Maher reached the rather sad conclusion that the moon is just a pile of rocks and that the money used on the program should be spent elsewhere.

During his monologue, Maher admitted to not seeing what the big deal was, “At a time when there's a lot of tension going on here on Earth, this is the feel-good story that has everybody excited. Everybody, wherever I go, ‘Bill, did you see the photos?’ Yeah, I saw them. Earth as I have always seen it. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be the wet blanket on the moon. I just don't get it. I mean, everybody's like, ‘You know, if we are on the moon, we can get to Mars.’ I didn't want to go there either. Okay, there's nothing out there except other rocks.”

He then worked in a shot at President Trump’s management of the war in Iran, “Let's fix the shit show here on Earth, but I will tell you this: when the astronauts get back, the world will look so differently than when they left a week ago, when we had won the war in Iran.”

Later, during the panel discussion, Maher broke up a contentious argument between Independent Veterans of America CEO Paul Rieckhoff and New York Post columnist Douglas Murray over whether or not Hungary could be considered a democracy, “How about that moon?”

Trying to be positive, Murray replied, “We can agree on the moon,” but Maher wasn’t so sure as he claimed, “Well, I don't know if we can agree on the moon.”

Maher tried to explain, “I'm not a fan of going to the moon. Same question I've been asking as a kid. Why? Why is it worth the money? What are we doing there? It's just another big fucking rock. We could spend a lot—the money more wisely, I think.”

Nobody would argue that the Artemis program has been run perfectly, but presumably, Maher means that the money should be spent on some collection of welfare programs or other government initiative that would not be made suddenly better with $93 billion. Meanwhile, people are being reminded that their country is capable of great things.

As it was, Maher continued in his rantings that the cosmos is just not that interesting:

We live in the Milky Way Galaxy. It has 100 billion stars. Kids who didn't go to school, that's like our sun. That’s a star. The sun. That’s our star. There’s 100-200 billion of those just in our galaxy. There are 30,000 million, million, million stars. No, galaxies. 350 billion large galaxies. Each one with 100-200 billion stars in it. What the fuck? You really think we’re going to figure this out at any time period that matters? We cannot get to the next planet and we would not want to, in our own solar system. It’s just something for rich people to do that is fun. It is fun, it's fun to look at. We are not getting anything from it.

Rieckhoff disagreed and, when asked to explain what the country was getting out of it, replied, “What we’re getting right now is some of the only hope that we have in this country.” Maher retorted, “Oh, I could sell it cheaper.”

As Rieckhoff and Maher went back and forth, Rieckhoff would hail scientific research, but Maher still wasn’t convinced. Eventually, Rieckhoff would say that hope is priceless and that the people involved in Artemis are people that others can look up to, which is similar to what he said last Friday on MS NOW when he alleged Trump “crapped on” the unity Artemis brought with his Iran speech.

Hide the sharp objects—at least if you take Nicolle Wallace seriously.

On Friday’s edition of Deadline White House, Wallace began by painting an apocalyptic picture of the situation in Iran. Grim enough to have Trump supporters reaching for the Lexapro—if they believed her.

After laying out her bleak scenario, Wallace went a step further, warning of:

“A full-scale global economic crisis that might actually be even worse than those headlines, and worse than we think.”

Wallace ticked through her worst-case take on the news: inflation “surging” to a two-year high, gas prices spiking by 25 percent, and the specter of fuel shortages in Europe severe enough to trigger unrest—citing reports of protests in Ireland requiring military response. She warned that Iran’s chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz could constrict global energy flows, disrupt summer travel, and send shockwaves through the world economy.

She also cast the geopolitical picture as slipping out of U.S. control. Citing reports that Iran is favoring friendly nations while restricting others through the strait—and may even be charging tolls to tankers—Wallace suggested Tehran is turning a strategic waterway into an economic weapon, to America’s detriment.

On the diplomatic front, Wallace portrayed Vice President J.D. Vance as stepping into a near-impossible role—entering high-stakes peace talks in Pakistan “in a precarious position,” tasked with ending a war he reportedly opposed from the start.

And as President Trump threatened further escalation if negotiations fail, Wallace warned of the risks to “the men and women of the United States military”—a concern that tends to surface most prominently in the liberal media when it can be used to criticize Trump.

For Wallace, not just a global crisis—but one in which even her own bleak portrayal wasn’t bleak enough.

NICOLLE WALLACE: Hi, everyone. It's 4 o'clock in New York on a Friday.

Donald Trump woke up today between a rock and a hard place. The rock came in the form of surging inflation and gas prices, and the hard place is the fool First Lady Melania Trump made out of his acting Attorney General Todd Blanche, who brushed away the Jeffrey Epstein story as old news earlier this week.

First, the crippling economic news. Inflation surged to its highest levels in the United States in two years, because of the global energy crisis created by the war with Iran, March saw a record 25% jump in gas prices for U.S. consumers, hovering near $4 a gallon. If you wanted to go on a European vacation this summer, now there's this to worry about. Airports there are bracing for a jet fuel shortage if oil can't pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Over in Ireland, the Irish government had to call in the army today to quell protests over fuel shortages caused by the war with Iran.

It is a full-scale global economic crisis that might actually be even worse than those headlines, and worse than we think, because the prices of oil that we track don't fully capture the full scale of this disruption.

And there's no sign of relief right now either, thanks to the fact that despite the two-week truce, Iran is maintaining its chokehold on the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran is using it as a geopolitical and economic advantage. On that, the New York Times writes this, quote, Iran is giving priority to a trickle of vessels from countries that either trade directly with it or are not viewed as hostile to the Iranian government.

It's putting Donald Trump on the defensive. Trump wrote this, quote, there are reports that Iran is charging fees to tankers going through the Hormuz Strait. They better not be, and if they are, they better stop now, exclamation point.

Susan Glasser writes in the New Yorker that it is a failure on multiple fronts in terms of Donald Trump's objectives. Quote, Iran has not only retained control of the strait through which one-fifth of the world's oil and gas supply flows, it now asserts the right to charge millions of dollars in tolls to ships that wish to pass. A new status quo sanctioned by Trump that will enrich and entrench the theocratic government he started out the war wanting to topple.

With Trump's failures piling up, Vice President J.D. Vance is taking the reins. He's going to try to negotiate a high-stakes peace deal in Pakistan tomorrow.

But MSNOW reports that J.D. Vance enters Sunday's talks, quote, in a precarious position, hoping to negotiate a lasting end to a war in Iran that he never wanted. J.D. Vance has privately voiced opposition to the war for weeks to Donald Trump and top White House aides, even as the president has pursued an aggressive military campaign. That's according to two White House officials.

Hanging in the balance of these high-stakes talks are the men and women of the United States military. Donald Trump again threatened to escalate with the use of military force if the talks are not successful. He told the New York Post in an interview earlier today, if talks aren't going well in the next 24 hours, quote, we have a reset going. We're loading up the ships with the best ammunition, the best weapons ever made, even at a higher level than what we used to do a complete decimation. Grammatical fix was me.

The "RNC Research" team on X drew attention with their profane reaction to a New York Times story still trying to make "fetch" happen -- that Trump is shedding "Ultra-MAGA" fans over the war in Iran. The headline deck was:

A growing chorus of disaffected Trump supporters is sounding off in the replies to his posts on the social media platform he founded.

RNC Research tweeted: "The f***ing losers at the Failing New York Times literally wrote a hit piece on President Trump citing a bunch of accounts with literally no followers as if it's actually a trend."

Times reporters Stuart A. Thompson and Steven Lee Myers began:

The people logging into Truth Social each day tend to count themselves among the most ardent supporters of President Trump and his MAGA movement. In recent weeks, though, even some in the echo chamber have turned against his actions in Iran.

Thousands of users on the social media platform, which Mr. Trump created in 2022, have responded to the president’s drumbeat of posts with a mix of frustration, disbelief and outrage.

They have written that they feel betrayed by the expanding war in Iran and ashamed when Mr. Trump used an expletive on Easter to make demands of the Iranian government. Some were so perplexed by his military interventions that one declared they “make zero sense.”

Right under this dark introduction, they show you that one of their examples, "Ultra_MAGA_King," has 92 followers.

They want this to sound like serious research: "An analysis by The New York Times of more than 40,000 comments on Mr. Trump’s posts showed the depths of the discontent over the war." And then more warnings:

The roiling sentiment reflects the challenging conditions facing the president and the Republican Party ahead of this year’s midterm elections. Mr. Trump recently recorded the worst approval rating yet during his second term.

Right under this graf, by contrast to the last user, the account "AuthenticAmerican" has a whopping 173 followers.

But my favorite was the third one, after the Times duo warned "Mr. Trump drew strong rebukes for his expletive-filled post on Easter Sunday, which threatened to destroy the country’s power plants and bridges and was punctuated with a mocking 'Praise be to Allah,'” and the account pictured had only 19 followers! These are not "influencers"! They are tiny righties.

I'm not a fan of the Easter message either, but the elitist media are soooo desperate to find the next Bill Kristol or Charlie Sykes in the Truth Social crowd. That is, if Kristol or Sykes had 19 followers.

On Wednesday Night’s The 11th Hour on MS NOW, host Stephanie Ruhle and her panel bizarrely praised the Iranian regime for how they held “deep beliefs” “that they will die for,” and chided President Trump for not holding America in a similar regard.

Former Under Secretary of State Rick Stengel also claimed that the president was wrong to think those forming human chains were paid protestors, and compared them to those with American patriotism, as he said Trump had no "ideological belief” or “patriotism” for America.

Amid a now-constant media news cycle built with fear and belief of the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. had faltered, the panel discussion went from talk about the Strait of Hormuz to Trump’s apparent failure to understand Iran, since he has no ideological beliefs of his own.

A member of the Financial Times editorial board, Gillian Tett, started the ‘you have to hand it to them' commentary towards Iran with a reference to Trump’s love of money:

So, the fact that the Iranian regime has a really strong conviction, which frankly, at this point has doesn't have much to do with money, it's to do with survival and their vision of what the nation is -

Bloomberg Opinion senior executive editor, Tim O’Brien, described by program graphics as a “Trump biographer,” mentioned their religion drove them. Tett continued, “You know, and we might hate it. We might like it, whatever. But it's a very different mentality that President Trump is the very worst person to try and empathize with and understand. And if you don't empathize with your opponent and understand what's driving them, it's very hard to make a deal.”

After Stengal said Trump “doesn't understand anybody who believes in anything,” Ruhle implied one might disagree with Iran, but you do have to commend them on one thing:

RUHLE: I mean this is a phenomenal point because you could disagree with Iran and what their point of view is, but it's - the fact that they have a deep belief in something. That's unfathomable to him.

STENGEL: That they will die for.

RUHLE: That they will die for. That they’ll destroy their country for.

Yeah, let’s just hand that to them, at least they have a radical Islamist religious ideology that they believe in that has made them the lead source of terror in the Middle East, and has killed many American troops. No issues here.

Moving on from whatever that was, Stengel said Trump didn’t understand Iranian “patriotism” since he held not ideological patriotic beliefs about America. He then said all the human chains around power plants, a war crime, were organic:

Yes. I mean, he has no ideological belief or patriotism about America, and he doesn't think anybody else does. So, when he sees Iranians lining up around power grids, he can't understand that. He thinks they're being paid to do it.

It does not seem organic for women and children to form chains around power plants dressed in the same all black garb while they wave Islamic Republic flags.

For a regime that used their civilians as shields on bridges and powers plants, you probably should not praise their ideology just to get back at your disliked politicians. Or, it is better put this way:

And now big brother, big daddy that was supposed to deal with Iran has not. Iran is more empowered over the straits. All of their oil goes through the straits. I mean, they feel like now they're out there on a limb with nothing.

The liberal media coverage of the approaching deadline imposed by Donald Trump for Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or face destruction of their infrastructure, featured non-stop attacks on the President, with accusations of pending war crimes. When the ceasefire was announced on Tuesday night, instead of giving Trump credit, they trashed him for the agreement itself, and now they're back to repeating claims that Trump was led into the war by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This is being dredged up again in a book, Regime Change, due out in June, which claims that is the case. And on Wednesday's edition of Fox's The Five, liberal Panelist Jessica Tarlov couldn't wait to unload on Israel, and it didn't go over well.

TARLOV: The linchpin story on this, and we have been tracing this particular plot line since the beginning, is what Jonathan Swan and Maggie Haberman reported yesterday in the excerpt of their book.....And it's about a meeting on February 11 in the Situation Room and Bibi Netanyahu was there. He was sitting at the table with our leadership, and he pitched them on this war. Donald Trump was interested. Pete Hegseth was interested. Everybody else -- Ratcliffe, 'farcical', Rubio, 'it's BS', General Caine, 'standard operating procedure for Israelis, they oversell', Susie Wiles, 'we can't be dragged into another Middle Eastern war.'

Israel pushed us to do this....When Rubio came out and he said the truth to the gaggle of reporters, the imminent threat was not against us, it was something that was happening for Israel, is the core piece of this.

It's no surprise that Tarlov, who recently admitted that she, relies upon reporters who have had long careers in foreign policy when she doesn't know something, would be relying on a yet unpublished book to trash Netanyahu and Israel. She also failed to mention that Rubio had corrected his first statement on the reason for the war. Fellow panelist Paul Mauro wasn't pleased with what he had been hearing.

MAURO: I find this to be a very, very dangerous meme. This idea that Israel is leading Donald Trump around by the nose. He doesn't know any better, he didn't see Bibi coming, and all of a sudden now, a guy who doesn't want to listen to anybody on anything because he's the most powerful person in the world is falling for deceptions from one of our allies.

That was nothing compared to Greg Gutfeld's reaction to Tarlov's outrageous claims.

GUTFELD: I am old enough to remember when Jews as a puppeteer was some kind of an anti-Semitic trope. But all of a sudden, that's just gone by the wayside. The Jews are controlling us. I thought I blew that out of the water last week when I said that Trump had been talking about doing the exact same stuff to Iran for decades. Including going after Kharg Island. Here we are going no, it wasn't his idea, it was the Jews, the Jews!

Later, the crew played a brief clip of far left radical streamer/influencer Hasan Piker, which included his downplaying the rape of Israeli civilians on October 7th, his disdain for America, and his message to an older woman who suffered under a Communist government.

PIKER CLIP: None of this justifies that Palestinians have a right to dignity, a right to emancipation, a right to live [bleep] free lives, free from this occupation. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter if [bleep] rapes happened on October 7. I don't have any sort of patriotism in my heart, for America. America deserved 9/11. [Bleep] Up you stupid [bleep] idiotic old lady. Suck my [bleep], old lady.

Now you might think that after being taken to task by Gutfeld and Mauro, when given a chance, Tarlov would denounce Piker, and express disgust at those in her party like Democrat Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed from Michigan, who have cozied up to him, but you would be dead wrong.

TARLOV: Well, it's not, you have to watch the full tape of it. He is saying what Dana was saying, which he thinks that Israel's response is not proportionate to what was done to Israel.

GUTFELD: He has no right to say that.

TARLOV: Then you should just not like him. And a lot of people don't like him.

GUTFELD: You do?

TARLOV:: It's not really about like or don't like thing.

Was Jessica Tarlov having a particularly bad day, or did she go much further in revealing her true, vile, radical leftist views than she has in the past? She ended up laying out a gushy profile in The New York Times as an explanation for his appeal to young men.

The Atlantic's Artemis Appreciation Ruined by 'Mass Destruction' Rage Against Trump #Political

If only Atlantic magazine had published just the first four paragraphs of its tribute to the Artemis II mission it would have been an inspirational piece. Unfortunately the author of the story on Tuesday, "An Incredibly Weird Time to Be Alive," was Charlie Warzel who has a history of leftist bias including his extreme anger at Twitter (now called X) for embracing free speech rather than maintaining its previous Orwellian censorship after Elon Musk bought it.

The first four paragraphs, containing praise for the Artemis II mission sound normal although the subtitle does give a hint as to where Warzel's derangement is headed: "The world witnessed the best and worst of humanity in a single week."

And you can guess what, or rather WHO, Warzel considers to be the "worst of humanity." But first some of the tribute to the Artemis II mission and the joy of seeing Earth from space:

“You don’t see borders, you don’t see religious lines, you don’t see political boundaries. All you see is Earth, and you see that we are way more alike than we are different,” Christina Koch, one of the four astronauts on the Artemis II mission, told NASA recently. Jim Lovell, describing the view on Apollo 8 from the dark side of the moon back in the late 1960s, told Chicago magazine that he could put his thumb up to the window, and in that moment, “everything I ever knew was behind it. Billions of people. Oceans. Mountains. Deserts. And I began to wonder, where do I fit into what I see?”

Where some see immeasurable beauty, others see fragility. Marina Koren previously reported in this magazine that, upon seeing the Earth from space, one astronaut “became absolutely convinced we would kill ourselves off between 500 and 1,000 years from now.” Famously, the actor William Shatner has written that his brief experience looking at the Earth produced a profound sadness. “What I was feeling was grief, and the grief was for the Earth,” he told Koren in 2022.

Unfortunately, by the fifth paragraph Warzel could no longer contain himself and he began about how thse images were compromised by "reports of the U.S. president threatening the civilizational destruction of Iran."

And from this point on, the floodgates opened on Warzel's rage. Gone was the moving tribute to the Artemis II mission and what it means for humanity only to be replaced by the base politics of hurling insults at President Donald Trump:

Trump’s threats triggered denouncements from Democratic lawmakers as well as the podcasters Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones, and incited no small amount of panic from people who have interpreted Trump’s post as a suggestion of nuclear warfare. Then, this evening, an hour before the deadline, Trump announced a two-week cease-fire deal, which Pakistan helped broker.

Trump’s bluster, no matter how serious, has always been impossible to parse. (He’s famous for chickening out, backpedaling, or pretending like he never said what he said.) Yet one way to view our current age is as a series of existential reminders, be they nuclear proliferation, climate change, or pandemics. In Silicon Valley over the past half decade, civilizational extinction at the hands of hypothetical technological advances has moved from the realm of pure science fiction to a marketing tactic to an immediate concern for a subset of true believers. Humans may not want to die, but as a species we seem eager to invent and tout new ways to threaten our existence.

And yet at the very same moment, four flesh-and-blood human beings are hundreds of thousands of miles away taking pictures of our delicate little world. Their mission and their photos remind us of something else entirely—of a yearning to learn, to explore, and to band together to become something greater than the sum of our parts. If Trump’s claims of mass destruction represent humanity at its smallest, weakest, and most cowardly, then those who are gazing upon our planet right now from afar represent the best of what we have to offer.

...There is something disorienting, horrible, and somehow fitting in the timing of all of this. That one man with the means to do it would threaten destruction of a part of our planet at the same moment its beauty and fragility are on full display. We are, in this tense moment, living with our own overview effect. Four are watching from afar. But the rest of us are watching too—left to reckon with our own place on the pale blue dot, reminded of all the ways we might die, and all the reasons for which to live.

There is "something disorienting" in reading a tribute to a noble space mission only to see it hijacked into an angry tirade of partisan politics.

CNN Implies Trump’s Words are War Crimes, Even if Nothing Happened #Political

After Tuesday night’s ceasefire announcement with Iran, Wednesday’s CNN This Morning shifted to suggest President Trump’s words, itself, were a war crime, since he did not bomb Iranian civilians into oblivion on “bridge and powerplant day,” as the media constantly warned in an over-prolonged 30-hour news cycle where news channels implied Trump would do just that.

Among the hour-long morning program, there were multiple moments of Iranian propaganda played on CNN airwaves, including interviews with pro-Regime women, who were dressed in the same garb as those who formed human chains outside power plants.

Human shields were actually a war crime.

In the opening minutes of the show, Cornish played two brief interviews with female Regime supporters from state TV who were seen in an arranged regime celebration in an Iranian square waving Islamic Republic flags:

AUDIE CORNISH: Now, there are some Iranians asking why the Islamic regime agreed to the ceasefire in the first place.

FEMALE REGIME SUPPORTER 1 (Translated): Why should we declare a ceasefire? As you see, there is written that the Strait of Hormuz will stay closed. Why open?

FEMALE REGIME SUPPORTER 2 (Translated): America has shown itself a hundred times till now. We have gone to the negotiation table twice when it attacked us and this ceasefire again foregoing and repowering itself.

Correspondent Paula Hancocks also introduced a clip from actual Iranian State TV, which she described as just “slight propaganda.”

About a quarter into the show, as the CNN chyron read “Has Trump Gone Too Far With His Threats Against Iran?”, Cornish questioned a US victory and American Stability:

President Trump told the world he was prepared to, quote, “end civilization in Iran.’ He still might be. What message does that send to U.S. allies and adversaries who are openly questioning America's stability?

Cornish played a clip from Democrat Vermont Representative Becca Balint, who said of Republican members of Congress, “They have to stand up to this,” as she stated, “These are war crimes.”

After Tuesday's ceasefire announcement and the media's claims of "war crimes" never occurring, CNN This Morning was still stuck on it.

Even though nothing happened last night besides a proclaimed ceasefire in the war, Cornish acted, in a question posed to former Ambassador Mark Wallace, as if Trump’s words still went too far:

So, I've heard people are talking about the president's threats against bridges and power plants, decimation of a whole civilization.

Before yesterday, they were saying, look, these are war crimes he's talking about. This rhetoric is wrong. Here we are today, after a ceasefire has been called. Do you think this diplomacy by threat, diplomacy by ultimatum is working?

So now, since the media’s extreme worry of Trump flattening Iran into a full parking lot and 'indiscriminate killings' of all Iranians didn’t materialize, it was now just the words that amounted to Trump being a war criminal for threats to hurt infrastructure, which helped the IRGC carry out its war on American military Gulf allies.

In relation to the destruction of bridges as war crimes, just recently, the Ukrainian military had taken out Russian-controlled bridges during their fight back against the Russians’ failure of a “special military operation,” as seen in a video from The Telegraph.

It’s almost as if there was a military strategy to taking out places of military movement and usage, as John Kirby said yesterday on MS NOW, would be the actual reason behind large, targeted strikes.

But nothing happened, even if CNN’s programs act as if Trump’s words themself were a nuclear bomb dropped on Iran.

A lot of us maybe don't like it, because it's not what we're used to, what we accept; and it's not what -- who we feel like, who we are.

What remains to be seen is what happens next. And that is both from a procedural and substantive manner.

I think we will closely watch. Will these negotiations actually occur in person? Will the Iranians show up? Will they drag it out and slow- walk it? We've seen these tactics from the Iranians-

Column: The Next Obama Can't Stand 'Right-Wing Media' Scrutiny #Political

Pundits are already putting pencils to paper about who might be the Democrats' nominee for president in 2028, and how each might fare in media coverage. Maryland Gov. Wes Moore might be the next Obama model in the race, much like previous campaigns featured people posing like the new JFK, from Gary Hart to John Edwards.

Maxwell Tani, an alumnus of the leftist Daily Beast website, worried out loud about Moore in a story at Semafor that they headlined in an email “The Sinclair Sun vs. Wes Moore.” Beware, Democrats: “Investigative journalists with The Baltimore Sun and the local TV station that shares the same owner are digging into Maryland Gov. Wes Moore’s records — and keeping their owner in the loop.”

Liberals worry about non-liberal outlets investigating Democrats – especially when the politicians make up details about their life story. Wait, that is the Obama model – he made up a bunch of details in his memoir Dreams From My Father.

One funny Tani line suggests The Sun only recently became opinionated, that it made a “transformation from a well-known, fairly old-school, by-the-book regional newspaper to a new, more ideological local media hybrid.”

More ideological? A few days before Barack Obama became president, the Sun posted a story headlined “Obama Traces Lincoln Steps On Way to Presidency.” In 2019, the Sun was the toast of the liberal media by attacking President Trump as “vermin” after he claimed no one wanted to live in Baltimore. In 2021, Sun media reporter David Zurawik suggested Fox News should be removed from the White House press corps. "Let's take them on the word, let's not let them on the plane. You want to let Proud Boys on Air Force One, no, I don't think so. These guys are doing the same thing.”

Tani relayed the governor doesn’t like reporters poking around about his dishonest biography: “Moore’s team has complained both publicly and privately that the investigation is needlessly hostile and politically motivated.” Democrats are used to reporters who are politically motivated to support their election prospects, especially in deep-blue Maryland. A conservative paper in Baltimore is as undesirable as a conservative congressman in Maryland (Andy Harris).

In a statement to Semafor, Moore’s team lamented the scrutiny from “ultra-wealthy, right-wing media owners using their platforms to put their fingers on the scale and protect their power while hiding behind the credibility of legacy institutions…. this is right wing propaganda wearing the masthead of a formerly trusted news brand.”

Once again, liberal equals “trusted,” conservative equals “propaganda.”

Then Tani suggested that while the Sun’s focus on accountability is “legitimate,” it’s not original. Moore’s biographical claims were “the subject of serious stories several years ago by The New York Times and CNN,” so “they’re following reporting broken by the mainstream media.”

In August of 2024, The Times reported that Moore claimed to have received a Bronze Star for his service in Afghanistan, but he had not received the award. This came up at a very predictable time – when Moore was being considered as a running mate for Kamala Harris. Liberal outlets break out their investigative reporting when Democrats are shopping negative information on other Democrats. Moore then succeeded in having a friend and mentor (Lt. Gen. Michael Fenzel) push him for the Bronze Star again, so he obtained one – for his next campaign.

In the last few months, Moore has performed interviews with CBS, CNN, and NPR, but none are like those “Sinclair Sun” people who pester Moore about his mangled biography. Semafor must think of them as “old-school, by-the-book mainstream media.”

Even after Kirby’s moment, during the 9 a.m. hour, co-host Jonathan Lemire called Trump “genocidal” as guests Andrew Ross Sorkin and Eugene Robinson said the U.S. will become a villain.

Late in the program, host Jonathan Lemire accused the president of threats of genocide:

Let’s just repeat for a moment the President of the United States and his post this morning. That is threatening a war crime. That is threatening something genocidal if he follows through with this, and perhaps, perhaps it's just a bluff, perhaps it's a negotiating tactic (...)

Of course, 9 AM host Jonathan Lemire just a few hours later called Trump's statements "genocidal."

He then immediately compared Trump to global villains like Russia’s Vladimir Putin and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.

Peter Baker of The New York Times decided to use the moment to praise the six lawmakers who made the infamous “illegal orders” video:

So this is what exactly those six Democratic members of Congress foreshadowed when they released that video a few months back, when they said that members of the military should remember that they are obligated under the law to not follow illegal orders (...)

CNBC's Andrew Ross Sorkin said the US could become the villain:

CNBC’s Sorkin and MS NOW analyst Robinson claimed the US had become the villain, as Sorkin said: “I think there's a real question about whether you can go from being a - we can go from potentially being the victim of Iran to, depending on how this is executed, to being a villain.”

At the end of the segment, Lemire added his “genocidal” line along with the U.S. as the “villain”, as he now claimed that's what he is hearing from “alarmed officials in Washington.

A former figure of Biden White House briefings, Kirby made his debut as an analyst earlier in the show.

One of the first questions posed to him was by Mike Barnicle, who asked if there was a “destruction” of Iran amid a conversation about infrastructure, “What do you think that does to the enhanced and legitimate reputation of our great United States Military?”

Kirby then said strikes on civilian infrastructure with “no military use or purpose” would constitute war crimes, but, in one of the first moments of reason on MS NOW since the Trump presser, Kirby gave a reality check on what the military would actually do:

But, I really don't think - well, let me say my expectation is that the military leaders, General Kaine, Admiral Cooper, they know well those two conventions and they know well where the lines are in terms of international humanitarian law.

And I suspect that if we see today or tonight, you know, additional bombing, you'll see justification from the Pentagon about why these targets were hit and what and how these targets were being used to support the IRGC or military uses by the regime.

A new trend began after October 7th, that every new war had represented an apparent genocide. If there was a want to not dilute the term, more of the unhinged at MS NOW should start to listen to their newly minted analyst, John Kirby.

You've devoted most of your life to the service of this country in the United States Navy, and the possibility that what will happen tonight at 8:00 or might be going on right now is a precursor to 8 p.m. tonight, the destruction of power plants turning a country dark, the destruction of water facilities, turning a country desperately in need of water and unable to find water.

What do you think that does to the enhanced and legitimate reputation of our great United States military? In the spine of what America represents and has represented to the world for generations. What does that do potentially to our reputation?

JOHN KIRBY: If, in fact, we indiscriminately struck civilian infrastructure that had no military use or purpose, that would constitute war crimes under both The Hague and the Geneva Conventions, and certainly that would completely eradicate any credibility that the United States has in the world in terms of our leadership and our standing.

But, I really don't think - well, let me say my expectation is that the military leaders, General Kaine, Admiral Cooper, they know well those two conventions and they know well where the lines are in terms of international humanitarian law. And while the political leadership, Secretary Hegseth and the president can bluster all they want about obliterating targets and bombing them back into the stone ages, I'm convinced that the military leadership knows exactly how far they can go. And I suspect that if we see today or tonight, you know, additional bombing, you'll see justification from the Pentagon about why these targets were hit and what and how these targets were being used to support the IRGC or military uses by by the regime.

JONATHAN LEMIRE: Let’s just repeat for a moment the President of the United States and his post this morning. That is threatening a war crime. But even just issuing that threat from the Oval Office is a remarkable escalation, and something we have never before seen from any president of the United States.

With us, we have now MS NOW senior national security reporter David Rohde, chief White House correspondent for the New York Times, Peter Baker, contributing writer to The Atlantic, Eugene Robinson, and contributing opinion writer for the New York Times, Molly Jong-Fast. Our thanks to all of you for being with us this morning.

Peter Baker, start with you about the president's post this morning. And we know he is, you know, fond of over the top language. He is fond of fire and fury, threats and the like. But this, to me, is something entirely new. And even if it is, does prove to just be a bluff of some sort or a bargaining tactic. This is still a new place for a President of the United States.

This is the rhetoric we associate with people like Vladimir Putin, with people like Kim Jong Un, with the monsters of history. And yet we have heard it now from the sitting president.

PETER BAKER: Yeah, absolutely. Right. He's using the language of war crimes in a way that no other American president, certainly in our lifetime, ever has. I mean, America traditionally has tried to occupy the high ground when it comes to wars. Wars are fought only out of necessity, not out of spite or out of emotion or out of bombastity, And that presidents, when they talk about war, talk about achieving military objectives, talk about, you know, targeting military targets, not wiping out a civilization, wiping out a civilization is the language of war crimes.

And this is going to be, as you rightly say, it's - you never know with Trump, right? Obviously, this could be just him chest thumping. He likes to do that. He likes to shock. He likes to threaten. He likes to look tough. He's almost 80 years old. He wants to look like a tough guy. But you know, it's a real test, I think for the US military at this point because the us military is bound by law not to follow illegal orders, war crimes, if that's what he ends up ordering, would be illegal.

So, this is the this is what exactly those six Democratic members of Congress foreshadowed when they released that video a few months back, when they said that members of the military should remember that they are obligated under the law to not follow illegal orders, they got punished or tried to be punished by the Trump Administration for it. In fact, the Trump Administration tried to literally prosecute them and throw them in prison for stating, you know what the law says. And now, of course, that looks different in the context of what we're seeing today.

And the question is, what will the military actually do when push comes to shove?

LEMIRE: Peter Baker, you're so right to note that the military has an obligation not to follow illegal orders. These would seem like illegal orders. What will they do? Also, what will Republicans in Congress do? Where is the Senate? Where is the house? How can they stand for this?

ANDREW ROSS SORKIN: Look, I think that most people who are focused on oil prices right now think that if this happens tonight, you're looking at much higher oil prices and for a very long time. That's the fundamental issue here. And so you're seeing these comments from the president. I think there's a real question about whether you can go from being a we can go from potentially being the victim of Iran to, depending on how this is executed, to being a villain. And I think that's that's a real question in the in terms of not just the markets, but the sort of larger geopolitical question.

EUGENE ROBINSON: There are still lawyers in the Pentagon. And one wonders what they are telling the commanders and the Secretary of Defense right now that, no, we cannot wipe out or try to wipe out an entire civilization.

That is the very definition of a war crime. And it is hard to believe that the United States could actually do this, that - And make no mistake, the United States then does become the villain, period. It becomes the villain in the world.

LEMIRE: Yeah, the US would be the villain if this were to happen. It would be a war crime, genocidal. Again, words that I'm getting from alarmed officials in Washington if the president were to follow through.

WashPost Lines Up Anonymous CNN Leftists Who Fear Going Soft on Trump #Political

Liberal reporters have a funny habit of touting liberal bias as glorious "editorial independence." When Larry and David Ellison won the bid to take over CNN in February, Washington Post reporters found it sad: "Among power players in politics and media, Paramount’s swoop is also widely viewed as a win for the right amid a broader push to rein in what many conservatives view as a liberal slant in the media and entertainment industries."

On April 5, Post media reporters Scott Nover and Liam Scott turned to a group of CNN staffers -- providing them with anonymity to complain without offending the new owners. How nice of them. Nover tweeted with the "independence" verbiage:

These anonymous CNN insiders want to maintain their "alleged" liberal slant and the takeover is "fueling anxiety," as the online headline relayed:

What the looming sale of CNN means for Trump’s feud with the network

Animosity from the White House has taken on new meaning amid an imminent sale to David Ellison’s Paramount Skydance, fueling anxiety among journalists.

The Post noted that Team Trump is delighted at the successful Ellison bid, and then turned to CNN's current boss for ridiculous denials about an anti-Trump bias:

“We stand by our journalism,” Thompson wrote in response to the attacks. “Politicians have an obvious motive for claiming that journalism which raises questions about their decisions is false. At CNN our only interest is in telling the truth to our audiences.”

Absolutely no one who watches CNN believes that, especially the people who love the liberal tilt and don't want to see it watered down, like they fear is happening at CBS News.

So we're presented with "several CNN staffers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution, expressed a degree of dread about the sale." They're worried that the bias denials won't continue:

Despite Ellison’s assurances, questions are swirling among some staffers about how long promises of editorial independence will hold. Right now, CNN fires back when attacked, the CNN staffer said, but now “there’s the question in the back of my mind — would we be sending the same statement in eight months or whenever this closes?”

Then came the CBS comparison:

Another CNN staffer said they were more concerned about mismanagement should a new guard — or CBS News’s current leadership — take control. Trump has praised Bari Weiss, the former New York Times opinion writer and critic of “wokeness” who Ellison installed as editor in chief of CBS News. She has clashed with the news network as she attempts to remake the organization in her first six months in charge.

“People at CNN have concerns about competence, even more so than editorial interference,” the staffer said.

Putting "wokeness" in quotes is always amusing. It's easy for journalists to assume "incompetence" of the new managers as they question how the journalistic sausage is made.

Nover and Scott made the obvious point that in the first term, Jeff Zucker was constantly pushing anti-Trump bias.

One former CNN journalist, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized by their current employer to comment, noted that in morning editorial meetings at the time, Zucker urged them to be tough. “Often, he would spend the first 10 to 15, maybe even 20 minutes, rallying the troops, talking about how important it was that we investigate things Trump was doing, that we not let up, that we not let things slide,” the reporter said.

Zucker did not respond to a request for comment.

Verbal attacks against journalists became common. “You weren’t covering the White House until somebody there came after you,” said another former CNN reporter. These reporters added that Trump appeared to hold particular disdain for the network.

Nover and Scott equated criticizing CNN with opposing press freedom: "Since 2015, the U.S. Press Freedom Tracker has documented more than 3,500 anti-press social media posts from Trump. Hundreds of them specifically mention CNN."

National Public Radio recently aired two frankly sexist episodes of its race-based podcast Code Switch , hosted by B.A. Parker and Gene Demby. The April 1 edition was titled “'Mar-a-Lago face': MAGA's aesthetic loyalty test.” Anti-Trump sexism is acceptable in "public" radio.

HOST B.A. PARKER: So, Gene, you've probably noticed that a lot of people in Trump world, particularly the women - but not just the women - have a certain look.

INAE OH: Dramatic sort of makeup. Heavy on the eyeliner. Almost all of them have this, like, long flowing hair. The outfits tend to be very close to the body....

….

PARKER: I spoke to the journalist Inae Oh from Mother Jones, and she wrote an article called "In Your Face: The Brutal Aesthetics Of MAGA." And the internet has described this aesthetic as Mar-a-Lago face.

This sexist angle, which NPR surely wouldn’t tolerate from the right, was barely skimmed by the hosts the guest author from left-wing magazine Mother Jones.

DEMBY: But to be clear, there's always been a lot of scrutiny for the way that women in public life present themselves. You know what I'm saying? Whether that's in politics or elsewhere. Like, the way they dress and their bodies, obviously.

PARKER: That's true. And I know that talking about these things is really touchy for a lot of people. But the reason I want to get into this is that appearance is also used as a very specific way that people in power get to signal some important ideas about what they care about.

It’s evidently acceptable to objectify the bodies of Trump-supporting women, apparently.

OH: ….It's not about, you know, like, oh, my goodness, like, look at how perhaps ridiculous some of these people look, but it's more about how aesthetics are used to -- yeah, to gain power and to gain favor with the president of the United States.

PARKER: So today's episode, we talk to Inae about the evolving appearance of those within MAGA and what that suggests to Americans about how people, specifically women, are supposed to look in this country, and what that tells us about which performances of race and gender are encouraged.

The podcast descended into bad taste quickly by focusing on the beauty routine of recently widowed Erika Kirk, including “heavy eye makeup….That dark, smoky eye with the long blond hair.”

PARKER: And I remember as she was crying with, like, her very, like, blue eyes, and she's wiping her tears away and, like, so much jewelry on the hand as she was wiping her tears. And I was like, oh, this is a lot happening in this image.

The nasty insults continued, without a single acknowledgement of Kirk’s tragic widowhood.

OH: You know what comes to mind? I don't know if you saw the Washington Post story about the AI-generated ideal, like, MAGA woman. But she - I mean, she looks like essentially a photocopy, in my opinion, of Erika Kirk….

After noting Kristi Noem’s tenure as DHS secretary (“having a woman really enact a very cruel - what came to be a very cruel agenda.”) Oh perversely managed to turn Trump’s installing women in positions of influence into a self-administered antidote to his misogynistic reputation (as if NPR would ever credit Donald Trump for caring about his reputation among feminists).

OH: What they want to signal to the public is like, look, this is an administration that cares about women. This is an administration that supports women, that empowers women, that wants to see women in - you know, embracing sort of these high positions of power. And no one can deny that. And I think that that's also a function of the fact that this is a president who has been accused of misogyny. Well, yeah, if I can say so, it has misogynistic tendencies and is sexist and has also been accused credibly of sexual assaults and definitely harassment.

And I think for him, it only - it can only serve him to put -- you know, to sort of, like, decorate his administration with these women in power to sort of rebut that -- those accusations of sexism, while also at the same time, enacting laws and policies that are just so anti-women at the same time….

The April 4 “Code Switch” followed up with a different author, Elizabeth Bronwyn Boyd, and an even more provocative premise: “From the Confederacy to the White House: How Southern beauty traditions went MAGA.” Boyd went on a hysterical historical rant.

ELIZABETH BRONWYN BOYD: The whole idea of MAGA, Make America Great Again, is based on nostalgia for something that never was, because when were we great? Was it during the removal of the first Americans? Was it when we held human beings in bondage?

"America was never great." It's an apt slogan for NPR.

Special Report: Apple News Was Most Radical of Big Four News Apps in March #Political

Apple News is guilty of more than just suppressing right-leaning news. It ran more headlines from left-leaning outlets in March than any of the other Big Four News Apps, solidifying its place as the most radically left of them all.

MRC made this major discovery by analyzing Apple News's top 20 daily stories each morning throughout March and using the independent media firm AllSides to evaluate each outlet's bias. Apple News promoted more left-leaning stories than Google News, Microsoft’s MSN and Yahoo News in March.

MRC’s Findings:

Apple News selected articles from left-leaning media outlets for 434 out of 592 total AllSides-rated stories in the top 20 of its morning editions throughout March.
- In contrast, Yahoo News featured 400 AllSides-rated left-leaning stories; Google News featured 382; Microsoft’s MSN featured 226.
Apple News continued to suppress stories from right-leaning outlets, featuring only five articles in March, down from eight in February.

In response to the findings, Dan Schneider, Vice President of MRC Free Speech America, said that Apple News's radicalism is intentional. “Apple News just took the crown from Yahoo as the most radical news app, even after the FTC delivered an official warning to the company,” Schneider warned. “I think Tim Cook is sending a clear message to President Trump and to Chairman Ferguson: Apple is far more interested in pushing radicalism than in providing Americans with balanced news. Our nation cannot survive if most voters are being fed propaganda and leftist myths.”

Apple News Featured More Articles from Left-Leaning Outlets in March than Its Competitors

Apple News promoted a total of 592 articles from outlets with AllSides ratings in the mornings throughout March. Of the articles promoted, 434 were from left-leaning outlets — far more than its competitors during the same period.

Yahoo News, which MRC had identified as the most radical of the Big Four News Apps, promoted 400 headlines from left-leaning outlets. Google News ran 318 left-leaning stories amongst its top daily morning headlines, and Microsoft’s MSN featured a total of 226 left-leaning stories.

Some of the more radically left-leaning outlets that Apple News leaned on for its top daily headlines included New York Magazine, The Associated Press, The Atlantic, The Guardian, The New Yorker and Vox. Other outlets were The Washington Post, NPR and USA Today.

Notably, Apple News promoted negative and misleading headlines, using fear-driven and sensational framing throughout. Among those headlines were:

“ICE surged in Minnesota to arrest criminals. Many of them were already in jail,” by The Minnesota Star Tribune.
“Canceled contracts, a failed polygraph and personal disputes: Inside the turbulent tenure of Noem’s former cyber czar,” by Politico.
“‘America Doesn’t Want My Children or Grandchildren,’” by The Atlantic.
“Asylum approvals plummet as fearful immigrants skip hearings,” by The Los Angeles Times.
“Teenager becomes youngest person to die in ICE detention in Trump’s second term,” by The Guardian.
“The biggest change to voting in Republican election bill could become a burden for many US voters,” by The Associated Press.
“The world’s deadliest infectious disease is on the rise in the US,” by Vox.
“What happened when Kansas tried a version of Trump's SAVE Act? Chaos,” by USA Today.

Apple News Only Got Worse from February to March

Following MRC’s reporting on Apple News’s heavy leftist bias, Apple barely moved the needle in response to an FTC letter that put the company on notice that its terms and conditions would be scrutinized to ensure it was not making misleading claims about its product.

In February, Apple News ran a total of eight right-leaning stories, amounting to a very modest increase over several months of zero such stories. Meanwhile, Apple has since gotten worse, excluding and censoring every right-leaning outlet in the country, except for five right-leaning stories from Fox News.

The tiny fraction of articles from right-leaning outlets promoted by Apple News was the lowest of all the Big Four News Apps in March. Google ran 12 right-leaning stories in March, while Microsoft’s MSN ran 58. Yahoo News, for its part, ran a total of 70 articles from right-leaning outlets.

"Apple News did more than just double down on its leftist bias in March,” said MRC Free Speech America Director Michael Morris. “The app’s poor showing in February, promoting only 2% right-leaning outlets, versus a reduction to less than 1% from right-leaning outlets in March, highlights Apple’s blatant ideological bias. Despite FTC scrutiny and MRC's exposure, it’s the worst among the Big Four News Apps. Americans deserve a fairer news distributor."

Apple News’s imbalance favoring the left matters. According to the Pew Research Center, 86% of Americans turn to their digital devices for news “at least sometimes.” With Apple News coming preinstalled on every iPhone, a considerable number of users are exposed to its leftist bias by default.

Methodology: During the time period Mar. 1 - 31, 2026, MRC researchers examined the top 20 stories featured on Apple News each day at approximately 8:30 AM ET. MRC researchers used the AllSides media bias ratings, which categorize an outlet as “left,” “lean left,” “center,” “lean right” or “right” to determine the overall bias presented by Apple News and analyzed the results.

'Easter Sermon'? Tapper Nudges Sen. Warnock to Trash Trump's 'Bigotry,' Even Drag In Slavery #Political

On the Easter edition of CNN's State of the Union, host Jake Tapper used the guise of Easter Sunday to present what he called a "special conversation" with the Senior Pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, who turned out to be Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock of Georgia. The 11 and a half minute sit-down turned out to be what many will surely consider one of the more disgraceful left wing media spectacles in quite a while.

Tapper promoted it like this at the top of the show: "Easter sermon. In a deeply divided America, one senator shares his faith on Christianity's holiest day."

Tapper started out innocently enough with an actual legitimate question, followed by a righteous sounding answer.

TAPPER: I'm sure you encounter quite a bit, uh, African American members of your church. Baptists who are more socially conservative than you, who say I'm with you on the hunger. I'm with you on the kindness, but Laken Riley was murdered by an undocumented immigrant, and I see nothing compassionate about having him in this country. Or they talk about abortion, or they talk about, other things that maybe are not in line with your politics. How do you confront that?

WARNOCK: Oh, we're Baptists and there's a range of, of beliefs and perspectives, in this house and I welcome them all.... I preach to Democrats, Republicans and Independents, Libertarians every Sunday. And I think that we need to, we could all use a little bit more grace these days. Grace for people who don't share our point of view.

But in his answer to Tapper's next question, it appears that grace went right out the window.

TAPPER: Do you pray for the President?

WARNOCK: Oh, absolutely. He needs a lot of prayer.

TAPPER: What do you pray for? What do you ask God?

WARNOCK: I affirm his humanity as I affirm the humanity of, of, of anybody and everybody. But part of that prayer, is about accountability. I have to be honest about what he's doing. His kind of unabashed, unvarnished bigotry, the cruelty that he is unleashing on American streets through his version of ICE. Those things have to be condemned. And so for me, prayer and prophetic speech, which holds power accountable, those two things go hand in hand. I am not about to be the Chaplain blessing that which is ungodly and unjust.

This returns the subject to Laken Riley, that ICE must be condemned, but somehow illegal immigrants who rape and murder women aren't as immoral as ICE agents. Weren't those crimes "ungodly"?

Tapper then asked about Trump voters who feel the president was chosen by God for a mission. (He left out the whole "survived an assassination by inches" part.) This set Warnock off into a rant about slavery:

TAPPER: There are a lot of religious leaders who go to the White House and not only pray for the President, but make a show of suggesting that that he was chosen by God for this mission.

WARNOCK: Yeah, they're wrong. And there were Christians who thought that slavery was, you know, somehow Godlike, American chattel slavery. And they justified it, and they used scripture to support their position.

Comparing support and admiration for President Trump to supporting and justifying slavery? And Tapper says nothing? Well, not quite nothing. He moved on to a gratuitous charge against three Republicans over Muslims.

TAPPER: We've seen some really ugly expressions of anti-Muslim bigotry from Republican politicians. Randy Fine, Andy Ogles, two members of Congress, Senator Tuberville. Just bigotry outright. Muslims shouldn't be in this country, et cetera.

There was apparently no time for specifics on the conservative criticisms of Islam and whether it's compatible with democracy and religious freedom. The softball had been tossed and the Reverend responded.

WARNOCK: It's hate. I mean, we should we shouldn't play around with this stuff because it's dangerous and it's deadly. This this kind of hate, this kind of bigotry.

Tapper lightly touched on antisemitism, on both sides:

TAPPER: There's also been a real outbreak in anti-Semitism, not just on the right, but also on the left. How concerned are you about that? The anti-Semitism within the Democratic party or the Progressive movement?

WARNOCK: We have to condemn hate, including anti-Semitism, wherever and whenever it rears its ugly head. And I've been clear about this across the years. We have to condemn it.

Tapper did not ask Sen. Warnock about his Georgia colleague Sen. Jon Ossoff being endorsed by Hasan Piker, who's rabidly anti-Israel and thinks America deserved 9/11. Republicans are pushing that, so CNN is allergic to it.

Not quite the whole story. In 2022, Fox News reported that Warnock worked at a church for a decade while it repeatedly hosted former New York City Professor Leonard Jeffries (uncle of Hakeem Jeffries) who was ousted over anti-Semitic and Black supremacist teachings. In 2020, The New York Post reported on a 2018 videotaped sermon where he blasted Israel and moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem. Also in 2020, The IPT documented the contents of a letter blasting Israel and co-signed by Warnock.

I guess Jake Tapper never heard of any of this. A simply disgraceful display on "unvarnished bigotry" all around.

NAYYERA HAQ: I think the irony in all of this is that Iran has shown its capabilities in two ways, where the United States is unfortunately catching up. One is using cheap drones, which is -- they have been providing those to Russia to use in Ukraine. So they have lots of experiments with that.

And the second is the meme war and Internet propaganda, which is something actually the Iranians have been known for and influencing. And so they had -- for all of our talk on our side of all the people killed in the regime, they have been pushing out through multiple channels around the world, images of the American army generals and military people who have also lost their jobs at this time.

So, again, the way this looks out in the public is not a United States that is locked and loaded and working in one direction.

SCOTT JENNINGS: Do you think that the Iranians would rather have their entire navy back or their memes?

HAQ: Oh, I think the -- I think that, no, when we're talking a ...

JENNINGS: I mean, come on. We have destroyed 13,000 military partners. And they have memes.

HAQ: This is a- just big distinction, is that we're fighting the war on their land. So they have a say. If they survive, that's a win for them. That's it.

So their stakes are so much higher, but they have to do so much less to be able to maintain some kind of credibility. Second -- that's the Iranian regime I'm talking about.

The people of Iran, even back to George Bush, have suffered. They have always had sanctions on them. They just want some relief. And President Trump started this whole thing by saying, this is your time. Now you can come and take over your government.

And now they're losing electricity. They're losing civilian bridges. They're losing clean water. I mean, this is -- this is nobody, United States or the regime, is helping the people of Iran.

This segment falls under what I’ve described as an ongoing campaign to discredit the Iran operation before the American public. There is no other rational way to explain the barrage of negative coverage against an operation barely a month in against a 47-year enemy.

This is where the hailing of Iran’s meme operation and Scott’s mockery thereof come into play. It is a fact that the United States has hit over 13,000 targets. Hard targets. The Shahed drone is certainly a capability but to suggest that memes are somehow on par with that, even the regime’s Lego memes, is not rooted in reality.

Jennings was right to make fun of that take, and compare the Khomeinist regime’s memes to their flattened navy and air force- particularly on a day where it is known that the United States went into Iran, built a covert air base, and cooked a bunch of IRGC and Basij before exfiltrating our downed pilots.

Today’s cycle was certainly idiotic. But with the Strait of Hormuz and President Trump’s deadline still pending, there is the certainty of tomorrow.

‘Inclusive’ NBA Waives Chicago Bulls Guard Jaden Ivey Over Christian Views #Political

“Basketball is for everyone,” the NBA proudly proclaims on its Diversity & Inclusion website. Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey just learned that slogan comes with a rainbow-colored asterisk after he was waived for expressing his personal religious views on homosexuality and abortion.

In a series of live videos on his Instagram account, the 24-year-old dared to express his Christian belief that the league’s Pride Month is “unrighteousness” and condemned abortion as the “wicked decision to murder a baby,” adding bluntly, “They call abortion good but it’s not good in the sight of God.”

Hours later, the Bulls waived him for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Apparently, some beliefs are more equal than others. Ivey didn’t hold back when expressing his views in the live videos, stating, “The world can proclaim LGBTQ, right? They proclaim Pride Month and the NBA does, too... ‘Come join us for Pride Month to celebrate unrighteousness.’”

Shocking, right? A Christian calling sin... sin. Yet Ivey made clear he wasn’t driven by hate. In a follow-up, he clarified: “I’m not against the man or the woman. I’m against what is contrary to the word of God. Man is not supposed to lie with a man, and a woman is not supposed to lie with a woman.”

Here’s the irony the league’s virtue-signalers ignore: The NBA bends over backward to defend LGBTQ players’ rights to their beliefs and how they want to live. Rainbow jerseys and pride logos on the court are all to be “celebrated.” But when a devout Christian quietly stands on 2,000 years of biblical teaching? Crickets, followed by a pink slip. Apparently, tolerance is a one-way street. You can celebrate whatever lifestyle you want, but don't you dare suggest the Bible might have a different take.

The NBA preaches "diversity" while enforcing ideological conformity. Its own 2024 Pride article declares inclusivity is “part of our DNA,” with Chief Diversity Officer Lesley Slaton Brown insisting everyone should “bring their authentic selves to work” and feel they have a “safe space.”

Unless, of course, your authentic self is Christian. Then you’d better hide it. There’s no “safe space” for Biblical convictions. Conservatives have known for years this has never been about inclusion. It’s about submission.

Prominent athlete and conservative activist Riley Gaines defended Ivey on X while pointing out, “We live in a world that hates Christ and those who believe in Him…”:

Ivey’s words weren’t detrimental to the team. He simply refused to pretend his convictions don’t exist. And for that, the NBA showed its true colors and proved the only people being oppressed or hated are Christians.

It’s almost as if a mere handful of days barely goes by before yet another story about turmoil inside CBS runs somewhere in the liberal media landscape.

As previously noted in this space, a few sample headlines:

Then, back in the stone age of 2024 in this very space the headline was:

Then this very last week was this story focused on the network’s editor-in-chief Bari Weiss:

This came after CBS News announced laying off six percent of its staff, which was less than the rumored 15 percent. So maybe they won't reinvent the wheel.

Some of these problems affect all the networks. Americans under 40 aren't paying much attention to broadcast TV any more, news or entertainment. What's unique is the Left hates Bari Weiss as if she's creating "CBS Newsmax," even though it looks like nothing of the sort.

Suffice to say there are more negative headlines out there about what was once nicknamed “The Tiffany Network.” Ahhh how the times have changed - and not for the good for CBS. Doubtless it galls the network’s old timers to see an upstart site named “Digital Chew” to be headlining this last year:

Then in what has to be depressing for anyone inside CBS, there were these headlines on different sections of the piece:

But, it is often reminded in the world of conventional wisdom, learning from a bad situation can lead to turning that bad situation around and making a positive situation.

Take some of those headlines above.

Yes, indeed. CBS was once “the King of Trust.” But what happened? Anyone of a certain age (ahem!) who has watched the network for decades and seen it go from the trusting hands of Edward R. Murrow and then on into the hands of Walter Cronkite -- the latter once dubbed “The Most Trusted Man in America” who received countless awards, both from fellow journalists and on one occasion from President Jimmy Carter -- has seen a slow-motion decline in viewer trust.

And in fairness, that decline in that trust was not limited to CBS. That decline in trust was well apparent across what eventually became known as the “liberal media”. From CBS and its fellow broadcast networks to the likes of The New York Times, The Washington Post, the Los Angeles Times and others the American reading public came to the conclusion that the nation’s media had overwhelmingly moved Left - almost wholesale and decidedly unrepentantly.

And the “liberal” addition to its name -making it “the liberal media” - came about because, in fact, starting at least with the Vietnam War, journalists across the board began to turn their reporting from honest journalism and transforming it into opinion journalism.

It can be truthfully said that the history of American journalism began to lose its trustworthiness then and there.

The obvious question? Can that trust return? And the answer is that this trust has in fact returned - but not as expected. No, the lefty Times and Washington Post and broadcast networks and other liberal media are not going to be moving right.

What’s changed is the technology. In today’s 21st century all one has to do is check out the countless conservative websites in the Internet universe. (As I’ve noted before, sites exactly like the site you are reading, NewsBusters.) Not to mention talk radio, which the late Rush Limbaugh helped launch into a major media industry.

Time, as the old saying goes, moves on. And so it has in the case of the American media. Which is, one can say, a good thing. A very good thing. And that good thing is not going away.

Which, interestingly enough, the CBS News network, in a free fall, is finding out the hard way.

Washington Post Finds a Hero for 'Queer' Kiddies in Fired Tennessee Librarian #Political

The Washington Post thought it was a "national" story about what the Left calls "book bans." Reporter Daniel Wu began:

The top librarian in Rutherford County, Tennessee, was fired this week for refusing to move over 130 books with LGBTQ+ themes to the system’s adult section, capping months of tumult that made the suburban county the latest frontline in a national debate over access to books about queer and transgender people.

The county board near Nashville voted 8-3 to fire library director Luanne James in a spirited meeting Monday in which supporters and detractors of James spoke on her stance to applause and jeers.

“All I’m going to say is that I stand by my decision,” James said at the board meeting before her firing. “I will not change my mind.”

Much of the audience at the board meeting broke into cheers and applause after her statement. Chants of “shame” were heard as board members voted to fire James.

That refusal made James a "hero" to the Bluesky Brigade, and they're all raising funds to throw at her for her "courage."

Even that move of books to the adults section is conditional -- children can still access books in the adults section with parental approval. So if you're a liberal parent with a gender-bending child, the access remains. Wu was very generic about the content:

The books flagged by the library board included children’s comics with transgender characters and books about trans activists, according to a list obtained by The Washington Post. Books were also flagged for containing “partially unclothed” people, “female empowerment discussions,” “social-justice concepts” and a “gay couple” among other topics, according to the list.

Leif LeMahieu at the Daily Wire provided what Wu and the Post would not -- specifics on what books were moved.

Books the board directed moved to the adult section included “The Gender Wheel,” “Who Are You? The Kids Guide to Gender Identity,” and “When Aidan Became A Brother” — a picture book about a gender-confused girl who started identifying as a boy.

“Librarians should not be used as a filter for political agendas," James said. This can be a comical claim, since librarians are the ones who serve as the political and cultural filters for which books are placed on the shelves, and which books are excluded. So are "transphobic" books made available, like Abigail Shrier's Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters? Liberal reporters don't ask. They presume such "harmful" material is left out.

Conservative opinion was barely included in this story. It was limited to little bites:

One commenter supporting the library board called James “evil” and said reclassifying the books was needed to “protect children.”

Predictably, the left wasn't identified by ideology, and their lobbies are just "free expression advocates."

Kasey Meehan, the Freedom to Read director at free-expression advocacy group PEN America, said James “really stood very principled for intellectual freedom, for ensuring young people have the right to see themselves, for ensuring access to LGBT+ books.”

“[It’s] truly emblematic of both how censorship battles are showing up across the country in public schools and public libraries,” she added. “And also how people are risking jobs and their own financial security to hold the line.”

The "Democracy Dies in Darkness" newspaper doesn't really want to feature a debate on so-called "book bans" when someone wants to criticize content selections at publicly funded libraries, any more than you can protest "Drag Queen Story Hours" they host.
