The hotel didn’t have free wifi after all. Thanks online booking site, you’re the best. The poorly staffed bar did have an endless supply of Carling though.

I forgot how wimpy the water pressure is around here. Showers are akin to running naked through some light rain, with the lightness of a cascade of feathers.

Driving after a 10 hour flight is going to be stressful wherever you are. It doesn’t help my nav system has a funny accent. And English roads are pretty bad, nothing like the glorious congested highways of the Bay Area; these are narrow, congested highways, full of roundabouts.

And now I have a three hour drive ahead, up to the Midlands. Just as soon as I figure out where the damn side mirror adjuster is…

I’m surprised, and a little sad, that SFO still doesn’t have free wifi. Apparently my hotel in London does. So there.

I guess I don’t really need wifi, sitting in a bar, waiting for my gate to open.

One last American beer before the good stuff… Sam Adams is OK, but, you know.

Random Shoe Day

It recently occurred to me that my photography skills have been on the lackluster side of poor. That is, I haven’t been shooting much, and that feels like such a waste of a powerful camera.

So I’ve decided to change that, and attempt to take more photos, more often.

Take the photo above, a bizarre sighting on my way back to the office at lunch today. A pair of high heels quite randomly sitting on a pair of water pipes. Who knows why they’re there, or who put them there.

If I hadn’t brought my Rebel with me those shoes would have become a quickly forgotten footnote to the day, or a crappy iPhone snap. So now I have a rough facsimile of a surreal observation that will make me smirk every time. Not perfect by any means, but pretty good.

Maybe, one day, my skills will reach the shiny side of poor.
