Barcelona have been credited with a surprise interest in Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Spanish outlet Marca.

The Spanish champions are determined to sign a new striker this summer, and they have earmarked Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez as their prime target.

Marca have surprisingly linked Barcelona with Sesko, but United are unlikely to entertain his departure at any price. Instead, the club are focused on bringing in a possible competitor to the squad.

Joshua Zirkzee has failed to meet expectations during his two seasons at United. The Dutchman has been linked with a return to Serie A. His departure could pave the way for a new striker signing.

United could still do business with Barcelona this summer. There is a possibility that Marcus Rashford could return to the Blaugrana on a permanent basis after a successful season-long loan spell.

Mazraoui has played exclusively as a left-back for Morocco at the World Cup and has delivered two top-class performances against Brazil and Scotland in the group stage.

The £17.1 million signing has completed 91 percent of his passes at the global showpiece, and has been brilliant defensively too, with five duels and 2.5 tackles won per game.

He has also made 4.5 recoveries and four clearances per outing, and has barely put a foot wrong.

In our view, Mazraoui’s versatility in both full-back positions should be utilised. The right-back has shown that he is clearly capable of operating from the opposite end too.

United could therefore save £50m in transfer fees on trying to find a new left-back. The funds could be better utilised to pursue another midfielder or further bolster the attack.

However, United seem sold on finalising a deal for Fernandes. If there is a change of stance, Camavinga could emerge as a top target. A transfer could be agreed for £45m plus performance add-ons.
