Wow! Race aside, I can’t believe Cousins is getting any kind of media attention under any circumstances, especially based on one generally meaningless pre-season game. You can count me as one of those loyal, life-long Skins fans (and a white female) whose favorite Skins QB is Doug Williams. I don’t know one fan who preferred Jay Schroeder in that magical year or who believed he would have been able to put up the kind of performance Williams did on the biggest stage in sports. I still remember the groans from fans when Williams twisted his knee and was briefly replaced by Schroeder in SB XXII. I can’t stand ignorance.

Good insight on the age factor. I too think Gano will have a solid future as a Redskin, but I also understand the need to bring in competition and get better. I’ve wondered how many of the blocked kicks “could” have been Gano’s fault last season. Maybe they Redskins should have brought in another special teams coach for competition. LOL

This schedule should help the entire team get some traction. Their first divisional game is not until Oct 7th which is a welcomed change from years past when they opened against a division rival. They are in for a rough patch with 3 consecutive divisional games in November – they get an 11 day break between Dallas and NYG, but have to face the despicable Cowboys on a short week after playing Philly. Hopefully, the previous week’s bye will help with this and they tend to play their best football against the division. That being said, I am very pumped for the Thanksgiving game vs Dallas! I am totally with you on Point 4.

Interesting angle. No question the Skins need a QB with their first pick. The only reason Skins fans tolerated the Grossman/Beck experiment last season was the belief they would draft a better QB in the draft in 2012. I hadn’t considered him, but Tannehill is probably the safer and wiser choice to fill that need after reading your article. Cam is the exception not the rule when it comes to rookie QB’s, especially those with mobility. As desperate as the Skins are for a QB, they have other glaring needs on the offensive line so they can’t afford to give up too much for an RG3. They would be wise to hold off on trading up so they can select a quality Guard or OT with their second pick and insure their first round QB investment.
