Perfectly Printed Dresses under $200

Not everyone loves the printed trend but once I saw it on the runway and on gorgeous pieces at Net-a-Porter, I had to have affordable versions of what I saw. As promised on Tuesday's post, I'm sharing some of my favorites I found while shopping around. The punch of print is a great spring and summer piece. We all have solid colored dresses in our closet - why not add to it with some pretty florals or the aztec #3 dress. The other thing I love about these dresses? They easily transition day to night with a pair of flat sandals to a pair of sky high heels. Great for weddings, date nights, or a summer bash, you certainly won't look boring in these fun dresses. I can't decide which is my favorite, which is yours?

Happy Mother's Day to my wonderful and always fabulous mom!

In my journey of becoming a mom myself, I realize and appreciate even more the sacrifices, the patience and the love a mom has for their kids. I now understand why my mom made rules, worried and lectured me and I will be doing the same with my Grant.

Thank you mom for always being there, for teaching me about life, how to laugh and enjoy the moment and how to be stylish. I love you and wish I could be home today.

I'm not one to follow fashion rules so I do wear white before memorial day, I mix ivory and white, black and brown or black and navy. I wear what I love and what makes me feel happy. The vest is a bit more ivory against my white denim, but with the weather warmer than the past couple of months, I'm glad to be wearing some spring gear. I've been eyeing this Tibi Star top since winter so I was excited to finally get it on sale. An easy piece to wear day to night, it also looks great with my leather jacket or my blazers.

I've been interviewing candidates to be my intern for my company (t+j designs) and it's been inspiring meeting people in search of their career. I feel lucky to do what I love and hope I can find someone with the same passion for what I do. Growing our staff is our next step and excited to do so. Shannon, - my graphic assistant has been a wonderful addition and I look forward to hiring the next intern.

Today's post is dedicated to my little Grant who turns one today. A year ago our lives changed forever. This magical little boy entered our family and brought me so much joy and happiness. It brings a tear to my eye and a smile to my face that he turns one today.

My little one's 1st birthday is approaching and I'm feeling a bit sentimental. My little baby has now grown into a vocal, energetic, food loving and ever smiling little boy. I cherish all the time I spent seeing him hit every milestone and look forward to all the memories to come. Being a mommy has changed my life, I was always so scared of mommy hood and the joy it brings me is incredible. And I'm proving to myself that I can still wear heels, look fashionable, own and grow a business, be a great wife and mommy :). I've had my fair share of meltdowns but my patient husband and little one help me get through those days.

I haven't been posting as much with the temperatures here being so erratic. We actually saw some snowflakes Saturday. I'm dying for better weather and seriously it is April! Those random days where we get some sun, I pull out my dresses to wear. This Naven dress is one of my favorites and since purchasing this one, I've gotten others. I love the colors and styles they design and find them easy to dress up or down. I just purchased this one in neon yellow and pre-ordered this maxi dress (available in black here). I'm crossing my fingers warmer temps arrive soon so I can feel like spring has arrived.

*For those that ask me about sizing, Naven runs small, so although I typically wear a XS or S in items I wear a medium in this dress.

My latest purchase which I've worn more than twice this week are these fantastic American Eagle Denim. I love fantastic denim without the high price and I'm specific about the fit I like so I try high and low brands. The stretch, fit, denim quality and destroyed effect was exactly what I was looking for for less than $40. I've been eyeing this pair of denim for a while but didn't want to splurge the $200 and am so glad I found my perfect pair of destroyed denim for a steal.

Pretty lace, bows and jewels for a Sunday brunch. I'm loving colored lace and my favorite lace silhouette has got to be a dress. Short post today as I'm just getting back from a trip to San Francisco celebrating a dear friend's birthday. I hung out with incredible girlfriends and ate my heart out. Thank you to my wonderful hubby who took care of my little one all weekend.

Since going to NYFW in January I've been kind of obsessed about finding a fur jacket. I found the one I am wearing on sale at a local boutique Edith Hart and I felt it was meant to be mine. Not only do I love my jacket but she is a Chicago designer. Always love supporting local talent.

I look often online for outfit ideas and street style photos, these were some of my favorites from past fashion weeks focusing on the massive fur jacket.

Carven Bow Flats vs Budget

I've been lusting after Carven bow flats or heels for a while but since I haven't tried them on in stores I don't know the comfort level for these $500 shoes. So glad I waited as the budget version looks just as cute. I love this Carven photo with the pops of colors and of course the adorable bows in the back of the shoe.

And I found pretty much the same flats for $55 here! I can't decide what color I want, stick with classic black or go for the turquoise. What do you think?

So glad it's Friday! It's finally nice here so instead of a huge coat I layered up with my furry vest. This color pink from J. Crew seems to be one of my favorites as I also have it in a coat and a silk blouse. And of course anytime they do a % discount, I have to get something, like these shoes in gold. Since I purchased my pink shoes in December they are sold out but I do love this version of it in the same color. Pops of color in my wardrobe help me get through the winter time.

Happy Easter to those celebrating and spending time with family. I really can't believe it's almost April, time is flying.

There's nothing wrong with mixing silver and gold these days. I do a lot with my jewelry and I thought I would attempt to do it in my wardrobe. Metallics are big this year and we all know how much I love shiny things so it wasn't hard to find these things in my closet. Do you mix metallics or metals?

On a shopping note, next week (April 3rd) Madewell finally opens in the city on Rush Street! Go on opening day and they are giving away tons of gift cards ranging from $10-$500. I'll definitely be checking it out.

Let's talk shoes! I've been obsessed with the Manolo BB silver pumps but decided not to spend the price tag for those beauties for something more affordable and still look great. I like to recommend shoes that I really would buy or wear; the leather, construction, fit, and comfort still need to be great for my save options. My #1 save option is the one I got (seriously for $99 ) but I also have tried on the #2 option and they were lovely too. Hoping to get my version next week and I'll let you know how comfy they are.

I know you've seen me sport my black leather leggings probably too many times this winter, but my newest leather skirt is now my favorite thing added to my spring wardrobe. Since leather continues as spring trend, shorten it up with a simple skirt and it comes in a variety of cute colors (purple, orange, turquoise, and camel). And my top - who doesn't love a pretty print on a beautiful lace on sale! Any spring purchases you have made that you love?

My son and I have been suffering from the flu so to be honest last weekend was not fun. I'm still under the weather and thank goodness for my husband. He has been taking care of both of us the entire time. I'll be resting and this is the first time I've been on the computer for two days (for me that is a long time)!
