href="http://tencent.com/">tencent.com</a>.</p><p>I had never heard of this site but Tencent QQ is the most popular free instant messaging computer program in Mainland China and has about 485 million users.</p><p>The lesson here is that the web might be global in reach but it is also still very much a local affair.</p><p>Other interesting entries are:</p><ul><li>6. <a
