Started out as a "chicken wash",just wanted to clean her up,and go the cheap route in lieau of a color change,so a fade was in order, factory wa177b into esynergy green(the new camaro green).
Well people seem to be trippin' over it,not too many fades up north(I seen plenty in the southern states),just figured i'd post a couple for kicks.
Plans are chrome delete, probably flat black, and a lowering kit(so i can get rid of the goofy steps,my old lady is short lol)

Hi there,
Just a little info, i am not in the trade and have never tried repairing paintwork myself before. Some one scraped the top of my boot this week, and i bought some touchup paint (same colour from dealer) to repair it. However it does not seem to be matching. I have sanded down the area i am painting however the new paint seems lighter. I still have some more sanding to do, but i was wondering if there is something i can do to try and fix the problem? i cant afford to take it to a spray shop. Once the paint is flat i will try compound on it, however i am not sure if this will help. Any advice would be welcome!

This is what it currently looks like
I noticed this refinish site while searching the net for a forum for Paint Sprayers. I see this is more of an US site and living in the UK a few things are different, just wanted to say hello and am looking forward to searching the site for interesting topics and information. Cheers

Last month I moved into the Shop Foreman position and things are good but I believe they could be better.. So I am just looking for some ideas or resources for tracking jobs in process.

We average $300,000/month and generate around 175 repair orders per month

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be giving you some information on my latest restore project, now please remember I'm pretty much a newbie (as explained in the introductions section) to everything with no official panel beating or painting experience, so without too much critizising i'd appreciate any or all the advise you guys are willing to give. Forgive any spelling mistakes as english is my second language, with my native language being afrikaans, sounds similar to deutch.

Ok, if there are any other South Africans on this forum reading this they would know that the VW Citi Golf aka Mk1, aka rabbit in some countries, is a very popular car over here and up untill a year ago it was still being manufactured in some factories with a lot of them still being sold as new by some dealers over here.

I happen to be the owner of just such a vehicle, a '96 model unfortunately, lol, and has had the unfortunate experience of being involved in an light accident. To make a long story short I was standing still waiting at a stop, when some guy who was turning into my lane from the left, cut his corner and clipped my front right corner. Insurance reckoned that it was too expensive to fix and I decided to do it myself. Oh boy was I in for a surprise... I've attached a photo in this first post so you all could see what I was faced with.

My next post will include the start of the work.

Subject: Help with Cromax A-T Aqua Tint and Standox solvent - by: ransome707

I was given a lot of surplus paint from a bodyshop that closed last year and I cant find info on these products and don't know where to buy the needed mixing components.
The paint included about 60 quarts of Dupont Cromax A-T aqua tint. Its not the new Cromax Pro, its older and I cant find any info anywhere. Some of the other materials are Standox 40-50 quarts of base tints, the older solvent based paint with the green label. And there also is some Spies-Hecker base tints.
Where could I find out some info on Cromax A-T companion products and mixing info and same goes for the Standox.
Also does anyone know if there anywhere I can buy the reducers for these products?

Im going to be spraying customers cars or any cars for that matter. I just was hoping to use it for custom painting random stuff like toolboxes, jet skis, suspension parts. But I would like to put this material to use even if I have find a similar chemistry from another brand and do some creative mixing. But a starting point would really help and anyone that used any of these lines that has any insight to offer would be welcomed.
Thanks!

Hi All,

Just a quick post to introduce myself. My name is Mike from South Africa and I have recently started restoring older cars, more as a hobby rather than a profession. I'm looking forward to learning a lot from all the veteran painters out there and cannot wait to share some of my own trials and tribulations.

Chat to ya soon...

I have question, if I were to use an air supplied respirator such as the SATA vision, would it be safe to hook it up directly to an air compressor or would I still need an air line filter?

Hi All,

I am new to autobody work but think I will get alot out of this site. I have recently aquired 72' Dodge Demon needing full restoration. I am a welder by trade and have a mig, as well as access to a rotisserrie to do the work, What I don't have is experience doing this type of work. I have built mechanic service body boxes, and utility vehicle bodies. So my welding abilities are there, just knowledge of where to start and how to go about planning and removing cancer panels on my Demon is not. Any advice as to where I should start as well as if I should patch panel or replace full quarters, floor etc would be greatly appreciated. As well as advice in wether or not I should media blast. As far as budget goes I don't have a set one. If it needs to get done I'll do it. It may be a 3-5 year project but I'm in it for the long haul and expect it will cost anywhere up to $25K. I am working full time so this will be evening/weekend project. I'll post a link for you to view the car and hopefully be able to better advise as to the route to go. Thanks in advance. Here is the link to the pics. picasaweb.google.com/1104310760046093954...1sRgCPKihpWGmuaRhAE# Your thoughts??

Cheers,
