Well guess what?

I am Finally a Canadian. At 10:30, on the morning of July first, Canada's 141st birthday, with my right hand held up I said my pledge of allegiance to country and queen. It was one of those very special moments I will always remember, especially being able to sing the Canadian anthem as a Canadian for the very first time. Thank you Vince, Miranda, and all of Lorna's family for showing up, and please guys... no more deportation jokes.
It is nightmarish. Not the wife! Haha. The school part. The bridge to UVic truly is two years of math and science compacted into six months. The homework is constant... and by that I mean two hours of homework every night. And forget about weekends. Those are reserved for assignments and studying. Forget about work, or a life.

My wife makes it bearable and worth the effort! Lorna jy is die lief van my lewe en my rots. We just recently went to Seattle with some friends from Kelowna. I like Seattle. Though everytime I think about planning the next trip there I realise how little of Victoria I've seen and should go see. Anything people would recommend for a broke student to go check out in Victoria?

I am taking all my notes on OneNote and once this first semester is done I'll have a week off after exams before the next set of tortures in which I'll fix and format the notes and post them for everyone to see who might be interested in taking the bridge. Let me know in the comments if this is something you would like to see.

Rudolf

PS - Since moving here and having to budget more. I've lost 15lbs, meaning I'm down to 195 lbs. Just shows diet has more to do with it than exercise.

Love this video blog.

I love this guy's commentary on recent events. Joe movie coming out. Looked at the trailer on the official website and it looks amazing. I'll definitely go see it when it comes out. Has that realistic Iron Man graphics thing going on which is good. Bad graphics can really ruin a good movie for me.

A pic of Michael Phelps has been circulating showing the swimmer smoking a bong. All I can say is, why not? After having to train and go through all that stress for so many years I'd need some chill time too, and apparently it was taken at a lady friends dorm room/apartment. Go Phelps!

And of coarse its Super Bowl today. Big woop since I don't really like American Football, but I did stick around to watch Jennifer Hudson sing the anthem. She looked really nervous at first, and duh... you have billions of people watching you around the world, but few seconds into the song she really hit it off. She has one hell of a voice.

Anyone else watch Super Bowl just for the sweet commercials?

Rudolf

Quest to find an old game

So I was kinda day dreaming today and I was remembering this old game I used to have back when I was probably 13 or 14, and now I can't stop thinking about it.

The point of the game was to find a good job. It was a two dimensional board game type layout, kind of like looking at a monopoly board. You started out with a character named Jim or Joe (honestly I can't remember what the name was but these seem to ring some type of bell). The game's title had the name in it as well. There would be businesses you could get jobs at, a school you could get an education at(so you could get a better job), places to eat, an apartment to rent and then once you had enough money you could buy a house. And with all this you only had, I think, 12 or 16 hours to go around the board and then you had to go to sleep, and start the next day at the beginning of the board.

Anyone every play this game or know the name of it?

Rudolf

Life in the middle of winter.

Well... It's getting to be that time in winter when all the wonder of the new snow has been thoroughly destroyed and all your left with is freezer burnt steak that is about as tasty as yellow snow.

But hey!! School is going well. Almost everything I covered in the first semester involving DC circuits is being thrown in the trash because it has nothing to do with what we are covering now: how AC circuits work.

What I have learned so far is that electronics are magic... really.. they are. The work/knowledge that goes into making one integrated circuit is phenomenal. The most complicated I've covered so far, and I'm sure I'm not even close to the tip of the ice berg are Transistors and how DC signals are transported though AC signals (because repeated DC signals are actually multiple AC signals combined).

That's all that has really been going on. Just trying to focus on school and not letting World of Warcraft, partying, and just plain being lazy getting in the way. Later,

Rudolf

School Update

Hello Everyone,

For those of you who know me know that I started school at Okanagan College little over a month ago. I'm enrolled in the Electronic Engineering program and after graduating hope to continue on with the bridge program to UVic and get an Electronic Engineering Degree there. Well it is going great so far. The class is pretty small, only eleven of us guys. Teachers are very personable. The knowledge I gained at my previous attempt at Computer Science at OUC has helped make most of the first semester work fairly easy. Especially with my programming class. I have never programmed C before but the ideas and concepts are the same.

With that said I shouldn't start getting lazy. I'm pretty sure that was the reason I didn't do so well last time. I have a midterm on Tuesday that I really need to prepare for. It's going to be a doozy. My first two term tests I did really well on, 93% and 88%. Anyone else have a midterm or a big project due right after Thanks Giving(in Canada, lol)?

I'm off to go do some more studying. Later peeps.
Rudolf

FINALLY!!!

Well.. after 4 months guess how much weight I have lost... 10 lbs. I can't believe how long it took me. Well actually I can.I guess most of the fat I lost I gained right back in muscle. I have noticed, and others have commented, that my frame is a lot bigger and my gut quite a bit smaller. :) After about the 3rd week of going to the gym I noticed my weight stagnating at around 205 pounds, and then last month it started to drop again. So now I am sitting at just under 200 pounds.

The weight training is going pretty good. I'm almost back to my old weights with my upper body, lower body still needs some work. Thinking I need to start adding some serious cardio to loose the next 10 pounds.

Seeing as how winter is almost upon us I am going to give out an invitation to everyone. CBC is STUPID . Why on earth would you not pay a measly 2.5mil to secure a theme song most people believe to be the second national anthem. Not only do you never have to pay the guy each time you play the song but you can now charge for other people to use it. No doubt people will be switching to TSN to hear the song. CBC is going to loose a lot of money because of this.

And good job CTV for picking up the ball. Now we'll all just have to watch TSN to hear the theme song that has been a part of hockey tradition since the 1968.

Sex in the City

So over the weekend Maranda, Vince, Lorna and I went to see Sex in the City.

Now I know guys aren't realy supposed to like this show but for about two months my satelite wasn't properly set up and we only received the preview channels... or I shoulds say channel, Cosmo TV. Needless to say I know the story like Pretty well and so knew a lot of the background going into the movie.

And I loved it.

Rudolf

Cirque du Soleil - Saltimbanco

Cirque du Soleil EFFING ROCKS@!!
First time in Kelowna.. and it was Packed. Not only was the show absolutely amazing, but my girl got picked to participate. It was so funny. There is one skit where a guy makes noises with his mouth like opening a door, banging a wall. And he pretends to open up a closet door and stuff falls out..

Well one of the things he picks up is a tennis ball.. and he bounces the ball a few times, 'pop , pop', and then a light pics out a guy in the crowd and he throws the pretend ball, 'ugh.. thunk', guy catches it and throws it back. I turn to my GF and say ' good thing they didn't pick me'... and then all of a sudden the light blinds me and I see the light is actually on LORNA!!!

Of course Lorna is like "you fucking jingst me". So the guy throws the ball at Lorna and she catches it, then throws it back at the guy but he makes noises so it sounds like Lorna threw it short, 'like a girl'. Everyone laughed. After words leaving everyone was stopping her and commenting on how she did.. She was absolutely mortified, and she still blames me.

I blame the dress she wore.. Our sense of humour is a lot alike, but I think ours is a bit more morbid.

Welcome

My name is Rudolf. I live in Kelowna, BC, Canada. This blog is mostly just about me, life here in Kelowna, and anything I find interesting. Another reason for this blog is to keep me motivated while I get back in shape. Last year on may 14th I cut my thumb and pinkie off with a table saw trying to cut some hardwood for the floors my dad and I were installing in the house. At that point I was in amazing shape. Unfortunately a year and a bit of doing absolutely nothing but play World of Warcraft pretty much put me in the worst shape I've ever been. I went from 175lbs to 210.

So I will be posting pics every month to see how I am progressing.
