Sonic Visualiser updated to v1.6

Chris Cannam has released version 1.6 of Sonic Visualiser, an application for inspecting and analysing the contents of music audio files, combining powerful waveform and spectral visualisation tools with automated feature extraction plugins and annotation capabilities.

The aim of Sonic Visualiser is to be the first program you reach for when want to study a musical recording rather than simply listen to it.

We hope Sonic Visualiser will be of particular interest to musicologists, archivists, signal-processing researchers and anyone else looking for a friendly way to take a look at what lies inside the audio file.

Changes in Sonic Visualiser v1.6

The Colour 3D Plot layer now supports logarithmic vertical scale and linear interpolation options.
A new colour scheme (High Gain) has been added for spectrogram and Colour 3D Plot, which improves readability for some data.
Further performance improvements have been made to Colour 3D Plot.
Various other bug fixes.

Sonic Visualiser is available as freeware (GNU General Public License) for Windows, Mac and Linux.

The Hip Hop Collection contains 101 brand new presets for Rap, Soul, RnB, Crunk and more. All the classic synth sounds are in there, plus a few that dare to step outside the box, giving your beats that unique identity to set you apart from the others.

The majority of this bank’s sounds are tailor made to be played at slower tempos. As many of the presets are synced to your host’s tempo, try setting your host tempo to 100 bpm or less for best results.

Alterex has released ViNOM, a free synthesizer instrument plug-in for Windows.

The ViNOM synthesizer has dual VCO, LFO (tri, sqr, saw up, saw down and s&h) and a VCF with a 12/18/24 dB lowpass filter.

ViNOM features

LFO/MG — retrigger, BPM synced with the waveforms: tri, sqr, saw up, saw down and sample and hold.
VCO — Two with saw, sqr and tri with oscillator sync and ring modulation. The MG or EG can modulate the pitch of either oscillator 1, 2 or 1+2.
VCF — 12/18/24 dB low-pass filter with CV modulation. The cut-off frequency can be modulated by the MG or EG.
ENV — The envelope generator is based on ViCON.

ViNOM is available as a freeware VST instrument plug-in for Windows PC.

Waldorf has released version 1.1.0 of Largo, a synthesizer plug-in for Windows and Mac.

This update is not only a “bug fix”, it also carries a bunch of new features e.g. the Mod Delay, a completely revised Reverb and an extended multi-part function plus several additional enhancements.
