TRP Vol. 2 CD release and benefit show

We are proud to announce the release of our second compilation CD, The Relief Project Vol. 2: A Colorado Story of Music and Hope. The album features 18 of Colorado's best emerging bands and artists who have come together to help raise money and awareness for the Denver Children's Home, a nonprofit organization that has provided care for children in crisis for over 125 years.

To celebrate this release, TRP is hosting a benefit concert on Thursday, November 29th at The Oriental Theater in Denver, CO. The event will showcase five acts from the record -Braddigan, Flobots, Gregory Alan Isakov, J.E. Borgen, and Katie Herzig. All proceeds from ticket and CD sales will go to the Denver Children's Home's residential art and music therapy program. Buy tickets now...

The Relief Project donates to Sudan

In an effort to provide essential aid to children in the violent region of Sudan, The Relief Project donated $5,000 to Save the Children’s Sudan Emergency Response Fund. This fund is focused on distributing necessary assistance in the areas of child protection, education, primary health and nutrition, hunger relief, and water and sanitation. To date, TRP has granted over $18,000 to children and their families in Pakistan, New Orleans, and Sudan. More about Save the Children's efforts in Darfur...

The Relief Project makes first grant

Focusing on fulfilling its mission of providing monetary aid to organizations doing their part in assisting children in communities affected by disaster, poverty, and injustice, The Relief Project made its first grant of 2006 to two very worthy and notable non profit organizations - Save the Children and Community Service Center, Inc of New Orleans.

Save the Children was awarded an earmarked grant for their Pakistan Earthquake Emergency Fund that is providing thousands of children and their families with life saving assistance - including food, shelter materials, and health care as they are striving to rebuild the lives of those affected by last Fall’s earthquake in the Allai Valley of Batagram.

Working against the clock across the vast disaster zone, Save the Children aims to ensure that children and families have a warm place to spend the extreme winter—and that the short- and long-term survival needs of the region’s vulnerable children are met. Community Service Center, Inc. was awarded a grant from The Relief Project, on behalf of the band Dispatch, for their ongoing support programs that provide assistance to ex-incarcerated individuals and their families. For decades, CSC has assisted ex-offenders of the New Orleans area to become productive members of the workforce, their communities, and their families.

The Relief Project's grant will go to help fund the program “Someone to Watch Over Me” – a “children of offenders initiative” that provides mentors for kids of incarcerated parents, in addition to case management for the caregivers and incarcerated parents as the prepare for release. These grants would not have been possible without the overwhelming support and generosity of all the fans and artists involved with the Relief Project. Don’t forget though, it’s only just begun! Benefit show sells out at Irving Plaza

December 22nd was the official start date for The Relief Project and it was received with a bang. 1,100 eager fans were treated to over five hours of music that featured sets from State Radio, Pete Francis, Braddigan, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Kate Voegele, and J.E.Borgen. The highlight of the evening was the reunited appearance of Dispatch - who played an energetic rendition of their song “Flying Horses."

In addition to being a benefit show for TRP, the event also celebrated the CD release of THE RELIEF PROJECT, VOL. 1 compilation CD. Those attending the event braved the NYC transit strike and were kindly received at the door with a free copy of the compilation CD.

All told, thousands of dollars were raised and over 5,000 pounds of food were donated to the NYC Food Chair! Many thanks to all of you who attended, bought merch, and brought the noise!!!
