Last Wednesday she got accepted into The Australian National University. I have two days of her left at home. She has cleaned up her room, discarded some clothes and made a time capsule of her treasures. It is four hours from home, and she won't be back until a break probably, or maybe a weekend in a month's time, we'll see how we go.

I made it to my father in law's 80th birthday celebration in early November. I saw some wildlife on the way including a frilled neck lizard, so I was happy about that.

Her younger sister is working again part time while going to high school. My eldest son is continuing on his graduate diploma and my other son, his science degree. I had a nice Christmas we opened our presents early with my eldest boys and eldest's girlfriend here with us.

I Have Never Loved Someone

This song is the background song to a hug project that Tania found. We have a tin full of lollies we bought at Coles. Not sure if there are any locally. Was sorry I couldn't get a Halloween witch cake here, they are at Woolworths. As a young mother I wanted nothing to do with witches etc. This is just something that has evolved for us. In the town we live in it is usually people who know each other going around together. Last year I wasn't prepared. My husband had been to the US in October in the late 90s. I have pumpkin lights on the mantlepiece. They need new globes, we have no idea which Christmas light globes would fit them yet.

Simple Woman's Daybook

FOR TODAY Saturday...

Outside my window... dark & quiet

I am thinking... about my weightloss and how it affects my life. I used to always get my clothes from K-mart when I lived in my hometown now 8 years ago sadly

I am remembering... how a lady at one shop shoe suggested graduation shoes even down to the place on the shelf at another shoe shop, said it was the only one left and in my daughter's size. This was after seeing her dress below. She is graduating high school.

I am going... I have been invited to an 80th birthday celebration. I am not sure how to go about the trip. Always safety is a factor. Maybe my little girl and her Dad can go on the Saturday and come back Sunday while I help the other two girls with their activities

I am reading... Barbara Pym, it is great, not as exciting as facebook, but I am trying to read it

On my mind... what my older kids will be doing next year, and the end of this year, some years are a trauma until everything settles down, only winter is peaceful lol, but very very cold

Noticing that... the tulips have finished in my garden

Pondering these words... words in the Barbara Pym novels, interesting

From the kitchen... something with too much cayenne in it!

Around the house... new shoes for the graduation, went this time last week to get them for a trip to the regional centre, a whole days work for two pair shoes, two pairs of bras and not much else, a layby I think. A small amount of groceries and a necklace.

One of my favourite things... the box of 14 items that my Mum sent me to wear over summer. After wearing a couple of items, when it was warm I wore shorts, another time a 3/4 top and a jumper, I realise how lacking my wardrobe was and how it affected me.

From my picture journal... my daughter in her graduation dress. The lady at the shoe shop says many girls complain their mother's iron and ruin them. First thing I said when I posted a picture of this dress on facebook was it had to be pressed! I'm hoping hanging for awhile will help.

Outside my window... tulips

I am thinking... I could look on facebook for fashion ideas, either that or buy a Woman's Weekly like I usually do

I am thankful for... being able to manage Christmas, I thought I wasn't going to be able to, presentwise

I am wearing... an old top, rust coloured, my jeans and shoes

I am remembering... that I got around a daily limit on my card by my husband trying the same account using his card

I am going... one more time to the regional centre to pick up a layby containing swimming togs, and choosing shoes and jewellery for my daughter's graduation and any other event she may like to go to

I am reading... Barbara Pym. I haven't started it yet, still

I am hoping... my middle daughter is enjoying her new banjo. My other daughter has had her mandolin a week and her fingers are numbing up from all the playing. Before that they were sore. The church people are supporting my girls with their instrument playing. I am so blessed. We live in an isolated area. Last night my middle daughter got picked up by a family to go to camp. They heard she was getting her banjo and she asked if we could drop it into camp on the way past

On my mind... how I didn't quite manage to get everything at once shopping today, but I think it has turned out well, will go one more time next week and get shoes, then again briefly in early December. I started this on the 9th August. It is now Friday & Saturday

Outside my window... ornamental pear trees, three of them down my drive in flower. I noticed this year the flowers are a full round shape

I am thinking... about my daughter going to Melbourne 5.5 hours drive, she is doing VCE revision

I am thankful for... my son being home and reasonably well. It appears he had electro something treatment on his knee, must have been sitting up and blacked out and toppled off the table/couch. He was incoherent and the doctor rang me, 4 hours away. He remembers them saying it can happen before he had the treatment

I am wearing... a skivvy, and two jumpers, jeans and wool socks, then today it is warmer and I have lost the socks and the second jumper

I am remembering... that my daughter has a gym concert and she has her gypsy costume hanging in her room

I am going... eventually to pick up a Target layby, go to the dentist and drop off some of my girls to Mum at the same time, holidays coming up, they always come around too fast. I managed to pick up a Target layby last Sunday of a t-shirt for me. I am trying to buy clothes in larger normal sized clothing rather than plus sizes. I have lost weight and I am not used to looking in that section. I got the largest size in it, then when I picked it up I tried the next size down just to make sure. Luckily for me I had to pick up my daughter from the regional centre (1 1/2 hours away) she went to Youth Alive in Melbourne. Her friends parents dropped her at the regional centre, the girl's sister took her to Seymour, back to Seymour then back to the regional centre. We had a lovely chat on the way home and dropped in on my daughter's friend who has moved as well. Got home around 8.30. I am not used to shopping on the weekends. May do it more often.

I am reading... I did start Emotional Intelligence, but I am not sure I like it, the introduction put me off

I am hoping... I am wise with dealing with the money this week, I guess if you start thinking about it early it all comes together

On my mind... VCE revision classes at the regional centre, at least I know when they are now

Noticing that... my first tulip is out

Pondering these words... aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands” (1 Thessalonians 4:11).

From the kitchen... last night all very budget I am afraid, had a lovely dish with tamarind last night, the tamarind makes up for the lack of ingredients

Around the house... my husband is sweeping the side verandah, lovely outside today

One of my favourite things... these things my friend posts from

Ғасєвффк Әят

From my picture journal... my daughter's painting for art, this was one of the canvases I bought for her to paint on

Please visit Peggy to learn more about daybooks.

Music Pic

Things that make me happy:
finding a pyrex lid for our casserole dish at the op-shop last Tuesday, ours broke ages ago

Book I am reading:
because I love Spirited TV and think maybe this book will be similar
Freedom by Franzen, Jonathan from this five from Facebook

What I am enjoying on TV:
Spirited, as it really isn't about ghosts, it is a very clever love story where the money or sex doesn't come into it because one of the people is a ghost

On the menu for dinner:
we had pea and ham soup and added kranskys and brussels sprouts when I wrote this

On my To Do list:
a bit of bill juggling, pick up the above book from the library, and rest to get better, I have a virus, which is still hanging on a little

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Speedy Burritos

In the craft basket:
no craft. One daughter though wants me to buy canvases online for her next art project

Looking forward to this week:
paying my rates finally, I have two properties, it gets a bit much

Tips and tricks:
don't use masala instead of dry sherry for soup, the kids didn't appreciate it much, as I suspected

My favourite blog post this week:
... went up the hill
Housework

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers):
none this week

No words needed: another pic from my husband's lunch at the power station where Victoria gets some of it's electricity

Lesson learned the past few days:
just to be kind and have faith in people

On my mind:
I have been looking at the B. Arts degree at one uni here. Some of the subjects have a bit about witchcraft in them, learning about it I guess, to do with society? I wonder if that is an issue for some studying it, or is it better to know what goes on?

Devotionals, Scripture Reading, Key Verses:
Matthew 5:48 we read, “Therefore you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father
is perfect.”

from here.

This meme is from Sandra's blog.

He says my hygienist appointments will go back to yearly. Hooray!

Book I am reading:
Style Notes by Maggie Alderson. I think she wrote for the Sydney Morning Herald, her writing is lovely to me I could read it all day lol

What I am enjoying on TV:
the whole of series one of Spirited on youtube before the new one comes out on Wednesday, plus the Waltons, and even some of North and South on Austar

On the menu for dinner:
potato salad, a reader pointed out we must love potato salad, yes, altogether I managed to put three on the menu, oops. Oh well, the potatoes are going off

On my To Do list:
plan a trip to Canberra, I sort of am chickening out even though I can catch up with a facebook friend and even have a ride around the block on his motorbike and see ANU again which I love

New Recipe I tried or want to try soon:
Chorizo and Silverbeet Soup, though it sounds familiar

In the craft basket:
my son is doing another big costume while home from uni until mid August. It is the male version of a lopunny, a Pokemon. So far the head is taking shape

Looking forward to this week:
just quietness I think, maybe talking to my friends on facebook to see how they are going after their big weekends

Tips and tricks:
not sure

My favourite blog post this week:
May's Gifts From His Heart was meaning to do a post like this myself, I started this post around a month ago, it is still a great read

Blog Hopping (a new discovered blog you would like to share with the readers):
Out Back Trains
Merewether Life
Last 100 Days as an Alcoholic

No words needed: my daughter's friend made the long trip from Ballarat to see her, and they went to this lookout. The school holidays finished today

Lesson learned the past few days:
doesn't matter how awful things look, something surprising comes with each new day. Today someone said they would try to send me a DVD which has on it.... wait for it my deceased Nana acting natural for the camera about 30 years ago. The time when I was a teen and the time of the reunion of facebook, a time we seem to be all thinking about and playing music from. We were very lucky to get just the right boots at the op-shop on Saturday, even though she is an odd size

From my picture journal... the ash in the sky when the planes were grounded, usually we can see them, before it gets dark, but around that time of night

Please visit Peggy to learn more about daybooks.
