According to the Humane Society of the United States, here are the top five reasons why you should adopt a pet:

You’ll save a life

You’ll get a healthy pet

You’ll save money

You’ll feel better

You won’t be supporting puppy mills and pet stores

Why isn’t it OK to buy a puppy from a puppy mill or pet shop? Unless you know exactly where your pet is coming from, you don’t know how the breeders and sellers are treating the animals. Do your research and you’ll know what I mean.

Of course, there are quality breeders out there. Get more tips on buying a pet from a quality source.

Sometimes, pet stores like Petsmart will hold adoptions. This is different! Adoptions help pets find loving homes. Don’t buy from breeders because there is only profit to gain. Adopting shelter pets shows that breeders can’t just breed animals in poor conditions for profits. It shows that homeless animals can still find homes, regardless if they are purebred or not!
