To the uninitiated, Burning Love is a group from Toronto, Canada with a chip on their shoulder and electric blood in their veins; their output a desperate, venomous and informed rock n’ roll fury that sways and swaggers somewhere between hardcore punk and the darker side of blues gone wrong. After the sudden demise of the now legendary Cursed, enigmatic frontman Chris Colohan picked right back up where the band last left us, but this time collaborating with the members of Our Father, comes back to the table with a band that had a decidedly different musical approach and direction.

While Cursed was intent on quickly ripping your face off, Burning Love takes that similar approach to new levels, luring you in with infectious hooks and full throttle blues before going in for the kill. Merging the darkness of Poison Idea, the melodic aspects of Queens of the Stone Age and the inspired high energy of the MC5, the attack of Burning Love begins to come into focus.

Following their previous full-length, in addition to a multitude of EPs and split releases and more since their 2008 inception, the band’s anticipated second LP, ”Rotten Thing To Say” was recorded by Converge guitarist Kurt Ballou at Godcity Studio and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side without a doubt boasts the band’s most powerful material to date. Licensed from Southern Lord Recordings “Rotten Thing To Say” will be released in Australia on June 22.

This August the band will make their maiden trip to Australian shores. Tickets available at the door for all shows.

A few years back, singer-songwriter Tim Barry closed out an album by pondering his own death – and he didn’t seem to mind leaving this earth too much. “Take what you want/I won’t leave much,” he sang.

2012 finds him in a very different place. Themes of resilience and hope flow through Barry’s recently released new record, “40 Miler,” “If this record is uplifting compared to my old ones it’s because I feel stronger from all the beat-downs and shit I’ve taken in the past,” says the Richmond, Virginia-based artist.

Kicking around the musical underground for nearly 20 years, first as the front man for Virginia punk heroes Avail, and more recently as a singer-songwriter Tim Barry returns to Australian shores this August where he will be joined by special guest Josh Small. Tickets on sale May 16.

“Dealing with the past catching up with you, moving on from it and trying to find meaning” – Scott Angel, BLKOUT vocalist.

The echoes of previous actions have a way of crawling back to haunt. On their new album, Point Of No Return, Perth’s BLKOUT lay down how they learnt this lesson the hard way by panning towards the unorthodox in their journey to widen the scope of Australian hardcore.

Collaborating once again with Sydney producer Lachlan Mitchell at Def Wolf Studio, Point Of No Return will be released July 6 on CD, LP and iTunes.

Terror is so much more than 5 individuals making music. It is an energy, a force, a refuge and a voice for all the lost and unheard. This is an attempt to put to words that force expressing the band’s dreams, visions and hopes through the underground music medium of hardcore.

This is the story of Terror, the now legendary team of vets tirelessly sharing their ambitions live on stage over 300 times a year since their inception in 2003. The band has no boundaries when playing a show. Performing a festival to thousands one day and following it up with a show in a squat the other is not an uncommon occurrence, welcoming to all crowds and groups playing for whoever is willing to listen.

This July the band returns to Australia, joining them will be Melbourne’s Iron Mind. Tickets on sale April 27.
