Nikki: Yeah, I wasn't actually planning on the first story arc being the Clare likes Cae but Cae is oblivious arc. Ah well, it's an important part of their dynamic anyway.

I dunno how obvious it is (it's very obvious to me), but that's the first time I drew Val with this hairstyle - I tried out a billion on her and nothing ever ended up looking right. Apparently this crazy faux-hawk is what she wants her hair to be like. Makes sense - Clare has a thing for punk/goth girls.

Nikki: I'm pretty happy that I decided to make DaveS the new kid in this version of the scripts - due to the nature of the strip (and my mind), Cae and Clare act like they have always been friends, but, really, they only met a few years back at the Supermart. I think their friendship grew much like Rayvyn and DaveS' will - a meeting of common souls, so to speak.

That and Cae was still in her goth phase when she met Clare - the black hair dye has only recently grown out. Clare, clearly, has still retained the more punky aspects of her hairstyle, just grown out.

Also, omg, we see a tiny, tiny sliver of Rayvyn's face! I swear that the consistent back views of her are completely unintentional - the scripts just seem to be working out that way.

June 4/10 - Wrong Greeting

Nikki: For some reason, this strip took from eight to two to draw today. I'm really not sure why - I wasn't slacking any more or less than I usually do, so why did this take six hours (probably a bit less than four with a pen(cil) in my hand) to draw? Maybe it is cuz of the damn fifth panel (totally wrote column there - whoooops apparently I've been watching too much V).

Anyway, I've done that... on landlines. Though I've caught myself partway through the spiel, but not quick enough to stop the embarrassment.

Since I haven't made a database yet, the title text for this strip would (does in the RSS feed) read "Clare is always pleased when Cae's relationships fall through."

Nikki: Ha! It may have taken me four strips, but I think I've finally come up with a way of toning I'm moderately pleased with. Too bad it takes forEVER - the shading takes up an extra hour of a two (or so) hour process.

Yeah, Cae's a vindictive bitch... even if there's no reason to be. Ah well, whoever it was was askin' for it.

Also, eff yes I'm on time! Done in forty minutes to spare!

Still haven't figured out toning, clearly. But whatever. Also, wtf why do all of my characters have dark hair? I mean, wow, I should NOT have had Rayvyn standing in front of Clare - so much black! (Okay, so it's cuz I have a bias against blondes but whatever couldn't I have characters with light brown hair?!)

Also, I have too many characters with two toned hair - DaveS is black (dark brown, actually) and red, Clare's is dark and light blue and Valeria's is platinum blonde and lavender.

May 27/10 - Job Application

Okay, so it is Thursday, not Weds. I kinda forgot the pencils at work on Weds and, thus, only had the half finished pencils for a strip that requires knowledge of Clare's personality in order for the joke to fully work. I mean, it would still be funny(ish), but it would just be better later on in the archives.

PS: DaveS isn't lying - he hasn't done drugs... yet. Rayvyn will eventually convince him to share a joint with her, though.
