Our distinguished guest from Theravitae, Bangkok - a manufacturer of stem cells in this new border of medical science was Dr. Thein Htut Medical Director, Clinical and International Affairs, for stem cell therapy for Severe Cardiovascular Disease.

The stem cell debate is high profile, but many patients are opting to use it to save their lives, even those too ill for heart transplants with some remarkably effective treatment and recovery data presented by Dr Htut, to a large audience at the PEC.
"Thai and Singapore hospitals, treat no-option patients. They now have six hospital groups using VesCell therapy, including one in Singapore.

To assure that the best health care is given to these no-option patients, Prof. Dr. Supachai Chaithiraphan (President Thai Heart Assoc 2006 and also current President of the ASEAN Atherosclerotic Society) and Dr. Kitipan Arom (Director of the Thoracic Society of Thailand 2006) have watched over all cases so far which are then filed with the Thai Medical Assoc. (i.e. Thai AMA).
Both are accredited in the USA to this day.

Catheter implant -110 patients treated at hospitals.
Direct injection - 95 patients treated at hospitals.

Dt Htut showed many examples of treatment with Powerpoint large screen digital photos.

In the future this new science, may become the standard treatment globally for cardiovascular disease but meantime Thailand is a leading centre of treatment.

The patients own blood (a half pint) is used refined in a lab in Israel, so 'rejection' is not a factor as with donated organs used in transplants.

TheraVitae plans to open the largest adult stem cell production lab in the world in Thailand. They intend to lower the price to partner hospitals to a target price equivalent to medicated stents.
This will allow the Asian middle class to benefit and gain access.

It is expected that this facility will be producing 200 batches per month for hospitals throughout SE Asia by 2008.

Hundreds have now been treated in Thailand.

Thousands of heart patients in Asia will have their lives saved and improved by adult stem cells.

Our service is in making further savings for you as you need to book hotels, get transport, visit hospitals and doctors, get a mobile phone, get a translator, the possibilities are endless. But, we are only a phone call away and know whos who and how to get the best for you.

contact us at stemcelltherapyinthailand
<!--

In addition, it also help reduces energy waste from using sterilising surgical kits.

At present, leading international hospitals including Bumrungrad International and Samitivej hospitals in Bangkok, Srinakarin and Sri Racha, Chaophya Hospital, Bangkok International Hospital and Vichaiyut Hospital (in process of installation for new building) use TRANE products to ensure comfort and healthy air as well as energy cost savings.

IAQ is an important issue for the hospitals seeking to protect patients from infections, particularly in surgery that requires cool temperatures and low humidity to prevent the growth of disease-causing agents, such as bacteria. A surgery requires 16 degrees Celsius and a humidity of between 35 and 40 per cent.

Whatever your needs we are here to help you all the way
<!--

[1]

Adult Stem Cells–a supply of stem cells that can multiply when needed to repair adult organs and tissue. Adult stem cells are found in the human body and in umbilical cord blood. The most well-known source of adult stem cells in the body’s bone marrow but they are also founding many organs and tissues; even in the blood

Embryonic Stem Cells–cells found early (less than 2 wks.) in the development of an embryo that can pro generate a developing fetus and ultimately a human baby

What are the differences between embryonic, fetal and adult stem cells?

All stem cells have the ability to divide into more cells that can either remain a stem cell or begin changing into another kind of cell such as a red blood cell or a nerve cell. The change from stem cell to another kind of cell happens in many steps. After each step, the stem cell's “assignment" [2] becomes more specialized.

Example of embryonic cell becoming a blood cell:

Step 1. Embryonic Stem Cell (Could become anything)

Step 2. Adult Stem Cell (Assigned to become a vascular system cell or a kind of nerve cell)

Step 3. Vascular Stem Cell (Assigned to become a blood cell or a blood vessel cell)

    Step 4. Blood Cell

Normally, stem cells become more specialized. In humans and other mammals, these developmental events are irreversible, and in this sense, cell development resembles a family tree.

However, “reassignment" has been observed in embryonic cells. For example, an embryonic stem cell that has already been assigned to become a brain cell somehow becomes a blood cell instead [3].

There is some evidence suggesting that adult stem cells also have this ability. An adult stem cell that has been assigned to become a vascular system cell may, in fact, reassign to become a kind of nerve cell under the right conditions. This has not yet been proven conclusively.

Embryonic stem cells are the most versatile because they can become any cell in the body including fetal stem cells and adult stem cells Adult stem cells are more specialized since they are assigned to a specific cell family such as blood cells, nerve cells, etc.

Advantages, Disadvantages and Ethical Issues of Stem Cells

Embryonic Stem Cells

Advantages

Because they have the potential to become any cell in the human body, embryonic stem cells are commonly considered to hold the most promise for treating disease and replacing tissue and cells Large numbers can be easily grown in the laboratory

Disadvantages

Safety and effectiveness in humans has not yet been determined because they have the potential to become any cell in the human body, they are difficult for scientists to control

They can grow out-of-control forming tumors. They can change into unintended types of cells in the body. For example cells intended to become liver cells may become pancreatic cells The Patient’s immune system rejection of embryonic cells has yet to be overcome

Ethical Issues

Many people oppose embryonic stem cell research because they believe that once formed, the embryo is a human life that should not be destroyed. This is a very significant political, moral, and religious issue for many

Adult Stem Cells

Advantages

Have been safely used in humans for over 30 years No danger of immune system rejection with cells from the patient's own body extremely low risk of tumor growth Easier to control than embryonic cells

Disadvantages

Presenting the body in very small numbers

[4] More limited in what they can become than fetal or embryonic cells more difficult to grow in the laboratory

Ethical Issues

No significant ethical issues

[1]For simplicity, this fact sheet treats umbilical cord blood stem cells and fetal stem cells as adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells respectively.

[2]The technical term for this progression is differentiation.

[3]The technical term for this transformation is plasticity.

[4] VesCell has overcome this obstacle

For more information on this life saving therapy please contact info@retire-asap.com and we will be please to answer your questions. www.retire-asap.com

<!--

See this pic - it is the foyer of the hospital - not the hotel and so imagine what else the hospital offers!
THailand
Basically its blessed with rain and sunshine that produces fruits and vegetables all year round.
So the people are pretty relaxed as they dont have to worry about seasons and planting havesting crops.
Its the land of plenty and its cheap.

Some call it a developing country so be it - but in many respects its running rings around an advanced civilised society.

A case in point - the medical hospitals here are 5 star and less than 20% the cost of a western hospital.

These hospitals are international standards and excellent doctors and medical staff are clammering to live and work here. WHY - because its fun, its sunny most days, i am lucky as i live in a condo with a 180 deg view of the beach - not a blade of grass in sight. Nothing to block the view and the fresh air.

I am lucky to have friends from many countries and some are from France. The other day i started my morning walk on the beach when my friends wife rang. The maid hadnt arrive and her husband was suffering from high blood pressure and so i jumped on my motor bike and drove over there then I bundled him off into his car and drove him to the hospital - 15 mins in total. 1 min later he had checked in, 5 mins later blood was taken to test, a French translator was arranged and within 10 mins he was in front of a heart specialist.
After this we had coffee downstairs in AU Pau BAn coffee shop within the hospital and 1 hour later his lab results were returned.

He again saw the specialist and was given medicine and after paying the bill ( cheap ) we went back to his home.

All up 2 hours.

Very impressive indeed

Over lunch at his place I asked if the hospital was good. HE explained that in France he would have been treated less and waited longer and paid 5 times as much.

He said that once he got to the hospital that he was happy to see all the staff in uniforms and smiling so much. Like they really enjoyed their work. He said it was friendly, fast and very professional and so he felt more at ease. Also he said that the design of the hospital was like a hotel foyer and they even offered free water, juice and fruits - unbelievable he said.

So if you are thinking of any procedure, be it medical, dental or cosmetic - contact me and i will put you in touch with the right hospital and doctors.

After you are convinced of the medical know how here you will probably want to invest here in a unit or condo. They are low cost high quality and on the beach with fantastic views. New projects starting all the time and getting better too.

Make no mistake as THailand is on the march and offering medical holidays but you need to know where to start and so i am here with all the contacts and experience to help you. Understand that ENGLISH IS A SECOND LANGUAGE HERE AND so let us arrange everything from airport pick up to meeting the doctors.

Honestly just a holiday here will make you feel years younger.

Last year 1.2 million people came here for dental and surgery. THe latest offering is in stem cell therapy - something even the USA is having difficulty dealing with. NOT HERE though it is happening and available for you. if you want i can sent the latest to you so dont wait contact me asap

thanks
<!--

First, the Thai political system has an extraordinary underlying stability that may be unmatched in all of Asia.

Thailand was the only Asian country never invaded, occupied, or colonized. The 20th century, so wretched and bloody for so many countries, was very good to Thailand. They sent a few soldiers to the Allied side in World War I. They saw no fighting, but got Thailand a seat for the Versailles Treaty. In World War II, the Japanese respected Thai sovereignty — up to a point. The Japanese Emperor had ties of respect to the long-serving Thai monarchy.

The Japanese did demand that Thailand declare war on the U.S. But what happened immediately afterwards speaks volumes about how Thailand works.

The Thai government duly sent a cable to its ambassador in Washington ordering him to declare war. But the palace quietly ordered the ambassador to go to the teletype machine, tear the message off before anyone else saw it, lock it in his desk and proclaim to anyone in Washington who asked about the rumor that something so absurd as a Thai declaration of war on the U.S. could never happen.

Indeed, ties between the U.S. and Thailand go back very far. Formal relations were established in the Jefferson administration. American trading ships were assured a safe harbor in Thai waters at a time when most other Asian ports were closed to them.

During the Civil War, the King of Siam (as Thailand was called until 1932) sent President Lincoln some war elephants. They may not have been used, but Lincoln very much appreciated the gesture as his official correspondence shows. In 1862, Lincoln was a man who needed all the foreign friends he could get.

This King, Rama IV, was the one immortalized in the movie The King and I. He is a much-beloved king and even today his picture is found everywhere in Thailand. Incidentally, we stayed at the seaside villa of one of the descendants of this king — on the left-handed side (Rama had one “official” wife but many others). This descendant, Mom Tri (or Prince Tri) three years ago turned his villa in Phuket into a stunningly beautiful small hotel (27 suites). It's the kind of place you almost don't want to tell anyone about, but you can find out more about it at www.villaroyalephuket.com.

In any event, even though the bloodless revolution of 1932 took absolute power away from the monarchy, the present king (who was born in the US and has reigned since 1946) is by far the most important and beloved figure in Thailand. Moreover, many times he has exercised real power behind the scenes. You may have heard that Thailand recently had a military coup that toppled the elected president. This sounds bad on the face of it. But the more you understand Thailand, the more sense it makes.

First, this president, a telecom billionaire who in effect bought his position, had been seen to set himself up as a kind of co-king taking upon himself duties that traditionally had been the monarch's. This did not sit well with many Thais.

More importantly, he had been acting to stir up delicate national and religious differences in the country. Back in 1902 Thailand annexed land in its extreme south that had been a Malay sultanate. It was and is an Islamic area, while the rest of Thailand is Buddhist and Thai (as opposed to Malay). If you ask me, this was a mistake, but no one asked me. In any event, there have been separatist uprisings in this area that have become quite bloody, with almost 2,000 dying in the past few years. The deposed Thai president had sought to stir up race and religious hatred toward this region to the extent that the whole area threatened to explode.

The Thai military, with the almost certain assistance of the king, decided that this president was bad for Thailand and had to go. It was a completely bloodless coup done when the president was addressing the UN in New York a few weeks ago. He was allowed to keep his money, but is not able to return to Thailand.

The military has taken over, but a visitor would never notice it. In fact, the effect of this change has been to signal to the Thai-Malays that their concerns will now be listened to. They are “ruling” with a light hand and have set up a political government more in keeping with traditional Thai values.

The fact is that both the stock and currency markets have realized this. Money continues to pour into the country. The currency has been rising so fast that the central bank has been trying to talk it down.

Thailand is still a cheap country, but it is now much more expensive than its southern neighbor Malaysia. The fact that the Thai baht has risen strongly when other Asian currencies have not is a cause for concern. Most countries want to have a cheap currency policy — this is one reason why I am bullish on gold over the longer term — and don't want their currencies to become too strong.

However, it is not clear what the Thais can do to make their currency fall. They have a historically open economy, again unlike all of its neighbors.

For these reasons of stability, openness, and cheapness, I remain long-term bullish on Thailand.

Regards,

Chris Weber

<!--

It was like a giant beach party. We had seafood, wine, deck chairs, fireworks and loads of fireworks.

So i urge you all to retire here in Thailand ASAP, We are also making arrangements with local hospitals to make health care more affordable to overseas guests.

For example my friend from the USA is having a hernia operation - USA cost min US$14000 - cost in Thailand is only 25% of that. 5 star treatment all the way and clean low cost hotel like atmosphere.

So check it out now - contact me asap
<!--

Anyone taking any milk thistle product for fixing up the liver now has the added bonus of getting some protection for lung cancer.

Read ON
Silibinin, a flavanone of milk thistle, inhibits lung tumor growth in mice and “merits investigation as a chemopreventive agent for suppressing lung cancer progression,” researchers wrote in a study published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

Scientists at the University of Colorado, Denver decided to examine the effects of dietary silibinin on the growth, progression and angiogenesis of lung tumors in mice, noting that silibinin “inhibits the growth of tumors in several rodent models.”

Researchers injected mice with urethane to induce lung cancer. The rodents then received diets containing various doses of pure silibinin for 18 or 27 weeks. The researchers have been studying both silibinin and silymarin, another component of milk thistle, for over a decade in conjunction with their efficacy against various forms of cancer.

Mice receiving silibinin had “statistically significantly lower lung tumor multiplicities” than those fed a control diet. In the case of mice receiving a one percent (wt/wt) dose of silibinin for 18 weeks, there were 93% fewer large tumors compared to those in the control group.

Journal of the National Cancer Institute 98(12):846-855, 2006
<!--

In the UK over 50,000 people turn 50 every month. Over 10,000 a day in the USA for the next 20 years (These are The Financial Times and CNN figures by the way)

So retire early with some money so that you can enjoy your hobbies - www.retire-asap.com

also see some new pics at http://retirement-thailand.spaces.msn.com
<!--

But I’m appalled how much things have gone up...
Over the past five years, almost every living expense has doubled.
My health insurance premium is $600 more per year, and I can't get good medical care no matter how much I pay. It costs $20 more in gas every week to fill my car... And my property tax bill is $7,000 higher than it was two years ago.
At the rate prices are going up, they’ll double again in 5 years!
If you’re retired or are planning to retire, this may be the biggest problem you face over the next few years.
But there's one easy solution.
You see, we’ve put together a retirement plan that’s built around the same forces that are — right now — driving up the prices of almost everything in the world.

scary stuff right?

contact me about retiring in Thailand asap
www.retire-asap.com
<!--

Retirement in Australia of the baby boomers will create a huge headache for the Government as they cant afford it. So now they are allowing retirees to collect their money tax free as its cheaper than paying them a pension for many years

read on
Consider this, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics revealed that out of 100 people who start working for others by age 25, by the age of 65…

1% are considered wealthy
4% have adequate capital for retirement
3% are still working
63% are dependent on Social Security, friends, relatives or charity
29% are dead

Here is how things are:

Only 5% of retiring Americans will be financially self-sufficient.
In families where both parents work their children are raised by someone else.
In the corporate world, inspite of record profits, millions of jobs are eliminated.
96% of adults are very interested in owning their own business.
Most people don't start their own business because of a lack of………
Know how, money or time
<!--

Governments cant pay for your superannuation pay out let alone prop up a health care system that will collapse under the "baby boomers" retiring and wanting medical service.

see the numbers below - and start planning for your own retirement and future.

Global Aging Program: News
World Bank warns of looming health care crisis
May 25, 2006 — Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa)

Washington (dpa) - Health care costs in low- and middle-income countries are set to soar over the next 20 years, but rich countries' efforts to help often lead to inefficiency, the World Bank said Thursday.
Economic growth is the most important factor in moving poorer countries toward the goal of virtually universal health care enjoyed by the richest nations, a World Bank report said.
It said that earmarking aid for specific diseases such as HIV/AIDS can work when poor countries lack the money for health care.
"But as their health systems develop, having separate mini-health systems for each particular disease can lead to waste and inefficiency," the report said.
Development aid for health has risen sharply in recent years to more than 10 billion in 2003 from 7.5 billion dollars in 2000, the report said.
But to ensure efficient use, donors must improve coordination with governments they are trying to help, the World Bank said.
Driven heavily by population growth, health care spending 20 years from now will likely need to be higher by 62 per cent in the Middle East and North Africa, 52 per cent in sub-Saharan Africa, 47 per cent in Latin America and the Caribbean, 45 per cent in South Asia and 37 per cent in East Asia and the Pacific, the report said.
In Europe and Central Asia, the expected rise is only 14 per cent.
<!--
