And Sensible Soccer 2006 too. Or Club Soccer as it’s otherwise known.

I’m sure it’s utterly lovely but asking me to tell someone whether a football game is any good is sort of like asking my wife to describe the merits of Cruising On Broadway without making reference to an entirely different kind of cruising altogether.

In short, it’s not really going to get you far.

For those who find their trigger fingers itching to get some ball kicking action however, we now present to you a link. A link that will lead to a football game called Open World Soccer. For those who’ve been in a coma for the past seven days, the PC demo of Armalyte is now available to download from Psytronik. Put together by the very talented team of Smila, Stu Ovine and Infamous with the help and blessing of the original folks behind the game. It’s going to cost you some moneys for the full version – roughly £17 of your Earth pounds but for that you get a very pretty box and lots of extras and a lovingly hand crafted game.

Having had a good blast on it earlier this week, I really don’t think you could have possibly done the original game more justice. Certainly a worthy piece of work, it has to be said.

More Diceman antics from Lobo, this time leaving the laws of Mega City One behind and turning to a more celtic flavour. Slaine In Dragoncorpse is Lobo’s second Diceman game and whilst it’s most definitely not to my taste (no lasers!) I’m sure it’ll interest a fair few of you indeed.

The next time someone turns to me and says “Bob, son, your games, they’re bloody hard” I’m going to point them at this and say “Ha! Compared to this, my good friend, my games are like cute huggable kittens on a soft summers day”. “Go forth, good gentleman, play but don’t come running to me when you’re all broken inside”.

Trigger isn’t just hard. It’s fucking rock hard. It’s harder than Yozza Hughes. Yeah, that hard. It’s also so awesomely retro in its brutality and looks, like some expanded type in game from the Marquis De Sade after an extended session of early PC gaming. I like it, but I’m cocked if I can beat level one yet. Press A to target the enemies and once more to take the buggers out. Let one past and it’s bye bye game. So y’know, don’t let one past. Well, at least try to not let one past.

Y’know, last time there was any sort of mention of Tim Langdell about these boards it took a good few weeks to sedate all the angry folk and mop the mess up afterwards. It certainly wasn’t a pretty sight, that I can tells thee. It’s part of the reason I’ve been quite hesitant to mention the ongoing saga of Edge Games over these past few weeks. Sometimes, there’s emotions best left unstirred.

That said mind you, I’m going to post this and take a very perverse pleasure in it. Sometimes it’s just good to laugh and Edgecrement made me laugh stupidly, stupidly hard.

Certainly, in a week where I lost one of my heroes (no, not the one BBC news are obsessing over – Steven Wells) I could do with a bit of cheering up. The world of words is a lot lesser a place because of the angry mans passing and most definitely, shift keys across the world are probably breathing a sigh of relief as are vegetarians.
