The Summer outing of the VISIVA range sees the same retro-kitsch prints revived on a top-notch resin crystal acetate, so that unlike the Spring selection the prints can be seen clearly both inside and outside of the shades, resulting in a refreshing collection that ooze with the sun-drenched spirit of Summer.

The Summer 2012 OFFSHORE collection is a natural evolution of the preceding Panama collection, a consolidation of experimentation and research culminating in further exploration in design and materials, all the while raising the bar for SUPER and its competitors. Color is key: soft translucent colors, new colored acetates and colored lenses, contrasts and tints—each combination carefully selected to ensure that the quality and design are not diluted. This season we feature matte and crystal acetates while at the same time introducing entirely new, top quality havana and tortoise acetates. The OFFSHORE also sees the inclusion of a new quality photochromatic glass lens by Barberini, set in our first ever full metal frames.
This collection was designed with the joy and spirit of the Spring/Summer season in mind: the excited anticipation of Summer in the Spring months as the stretch in the evenings arrives, and the infectious carefree, devil-may-care Summer time high.

PEOPLE SUMMER 2012


Color play has been one of our strengths since our birth and throughout the seasons, where we constantly research new color combinations and materials. Experimenting with the color element allows us to constantly update our signature silhouettes without interfering with their basic, solid design. For the SUMMER release we’ve re-interpreted our well-known PEOPLE model in powerful, eye-opening hues, pairing strong colored crystal acetates with strong colored lenses. The loud, clashing palette lends an entirely new persona to the classic PEOPLE, bursting with life and Summer daring. Introducing The Tom Wolfe Series, available in four variations: orange frames with blue lenses; red frames with blue lenses; fuchsia frames with brown lenses, and royal blue frames with brown lenses.

BASIC SUMMER 2012

We add two further color combinations to the BASIC MATTE SPRING series: resin yellow matte frames with a green Zeiss lens, and a fresh pink matte frame teamed with dark brown Zeiss lenses. This matte series has the same velvety-soft finish as the SPRING models, and is just as easy to wear. Attractive eyewear, specifically researched and tailored to captivate attention. Sure to be an instant classic in the city this Summer.

GIAGUARO DUO COLORS

Following the first GIAGUARO DUO COLOR released in our Spring collection, we add two more variations to the list, each as unique as the next: a warm classic camel and green acetate with a brown lens, and a summery maritime blue and off-white teamed with a deep blue lens. All metal work and decors have a matte finish. Thanks to the careful study of color combinations, both models have an everyday appeal, while still maintaining a unique and unusual air.

NEW ILARIA

After the resounding success of last year’s ILARIA model, we bring you the latest incarnation: ILARIA SUMMER 2012. It shares the same sturdy metal skeleton as the previous ILARIA model, yet in this case the skeleton is coated with a unique and retro multi-colored block acetate and is set with deep cobalt blue lenses. Very distinctive shades, sure to cause a stir, they were exclusively designed for a strong, fashion conscious woman who likes to be noticed.

PANAMA‘QUASIMODO’

As with the GIAGUARO ‘QUASIMODO’ from our SPRING collection, the PANAMA employs the same nostalgic technique from the past of blending acetates, this time around with matte acetates only. Each component is made of a different acetate, five in total, in tasteful and a classic variety of havanas. For those who appreciate a unique, high-quality, hand-crafted piece that won’t be found elsewhere.

NEW HAVANAS

The experimentation with havana and tortoise acetates introduced in the SPRING collection continues with a wider range of silhouettes: a CICCIO FLAT TOP in a burnt havana with a tonal brown lens; the 49ER with a psychedelic light brown acetate and contrasting green lens; the FLAT TOP in a speckled yellow tortoise acetate and a brown lens; the FLAT TOP in a dark havana with a kaleidoscope pattern and a dark brown lens, and the FLAT TOP SMALL in a gold and brown psychedelic havana with a dark brown lens. These acetates are completely unique to SUPER and an easy way to experiment without wearing full color.

We introduce our second full metal frame with the METAL SUMMER ‘PRIMO’ model. The Spring model’s next of kin, we further on played with the nose piece design component to keep the series going, holding it together instead with a flexible yet firm bridge, allowing complete comfort in the fit. This unisex model was inspired by classic vintage shapes, but as always interpreted in a contemporary way, creating a very strong and unique piece of eyewear.

An engraved metal circumnavigates the lenses and as with the Spring model, there is a delicate inscription underneath the bridge. The PRIMO features glass photochromatic Barberini lenses ensuring character and functionality along with the sturdiness of the body and lending weight to the eyewear.

Available in a variety of colors: yellow gold metal frames with green lenses; gold and silver metal frames with pink lenses; gold and silver metal frames with mustard lenses, or yellow gold metal frames with blue lenses. A milestone in the on-going SUPER evolution.

The latest special project from SUPER marks the 4th anniversary of 10 Corso Como Seoul, the Korean branch of the fashion-come-culture retail phenomenon.

SUPER has created a special edition of our beloved and modestly-chic BASIC silhouette, in an eye-popping black puma acetate combined with our sharp and shiny black; with this limited model paying homage to the past four successful years of 10CC Seoul and its solid ongoing partnership with SUPER.

The sleek skeleton features delicate gold hardware, with an engraving in the hinges and a ‘RSF Special Edtn’ inscription on the inside of the arms.
For the presentation of the exclusive model we called on the talents of illustrator Claire Duport, who hand-designed the packaging one by one with the greatest of care, decorating the boxes with her signature graphics and personalizing them with her signature, her valuable input adding to the collect-ability of the project.

The special project was launched to much fanfare at the televised SUPER MODEL! SUPER NIGHT! event, which saw 20 models walking a runway wearing the SUPER x 10CC Seoul shades in front of a select audience made up of  press, fashion personalities and VIP Customers, and was televised live on the Korean ‘ON STYLE’ channel.

Production was restricted to only 60 pieces, with this limited model available to buy exclusively at the 10 CORSO COMO Seoul store and on our web store.

SUPER launches a new project for its personal history: during Milano’s Salone del Mobile, it will kick off the “SUPER moves to”, a project traveling to selected stores in the world which will host the most complete selection of Super eyewear, exclusive limited edition products as well as a direct expression of the aesthetic and soul of the brand. The first stop will be WOKstore in Milan, known for its continuous research in experimental and independent realities in fashion and lifestyle. The shop will span from April 17th for the next three hot months, until July 30th.

For the occasion, SUPER and WOKstore will present the result of their union,the Ndebele Special sunglasses. Taking its name from a truly inspirational tribe from southern Africa. The Ndebele culture has inspired a whole new world that brings out the colors and culture of these people through the sunglasses, with the special print deriving from Ndebele murals: large and colorful geometric patterns that women paint on their houses.

In order to deeply enjoy these and other African atmospheres, a selection of videos chosen especially from the SUPER team will be screened during the opening event, providing a simple and home-made visual impact, full of perceptions, patches and sounds.

But this is not the only surprise. During the entire permanence of “SUPER moves to WOKstore” the Ndebele Special sunglasses won’t be the only protagonist: inside the store, for a period of three months, you can find the entire SUPER collection, illustrated by technically qualified staff.

The Ndebele Special is a limited edition of 120 pieces, characterized by a double-sided printing on metallized acetate, with custom engravings and aubergine Zeiss lenses. Therefore also technically high quality pieces of eyewear. That is why the brand has decided to let you see, touch and feel what the typical SUPER manufacturing materials are, showing the collaborations that have most influenced the history of the brand, representing its essence.

Prints have always been a part of the SUPER DNA, from the early Alife partnership to our numerous Liberty collaborations in more recent times. In our PANAMA collection we stepped it up a gear with the introduction of hand-crafted prints, and now we are presenting the concept we have designed and evolved for the OFFSHORE collection. Made specifically for those who want to own a fine hand-crafted piece of eyewear with a unique twist. BASIC SHAPE: VELVET BABY BLUE/VELVET MOSS

For Spring we gave our trusty BASIC shape a make-over, experimenting with color and material without touching the timeless silhouette. Light to the touch, easy on the eye: we paired soft, translucent colored matte acetate with a velvety-smooth finish and a contrasting colored lens. Available in a soft green frame with a nylon blue lens, or inversely with a baby blue frame and a dark green lens. Strong in its simplicity, easy-going, easy-to-wear. This set of BASIC SHAPES will suit your mood as the days get longer and Summer beckons.

GIAGUARO: EVE

This unique piece of eyewear was designed with the lengthening in the days in mind and the lingering Summer sunsets, watched from the beach or a rooftop. The lens mimics the warm light of the sun as it sets, fading from a light yellow to a faint mustard, making it ideal to be worn in situations with low-lighting. As with the GIAGUARO introduced in the PANAMA collection, this model is delicate and elegant, encased in a girly flirtatious pink with discreet gold detailing.

LUCIA: CANDY (AKA LUCIA IN THE SKY WITH DIAMONDS)

This set of our staple LUCIA model will be nothing but trouble for the men this Summer. The sweet candy-colored crystal acetates are paired with contrasting colored lenses,semi- transparent in order to see the girl’s eyes. Ultra-feminine, with a retro 60s and 70s flavor, interpreted as always with modern materials. The lenses are lightly tinted making them ideal for situations with dim-lighting. Playful, flirtatious, provocative: sure to turn heads .

HAVANA & TORTOISE SPRING 2012

At SUPER we like to reinterpret our classic and popular shapes, that way experimenting without straying too far from our roots and our winning formula. This season we extensively researched havana and tortoise acetates, allowing us to experiment with various color and acetate combos.

The carefully selected series of tortoise-inspired and wild havana acetates are interpreted in much-loved signature silhouettes: The PEOPLE with a square patterned acetate; the CICCIO with a burnt havana flame-like acetate; the W in a psychedelic inferno dark havana; the AMERICA is a spotted caramel havana, the BASIC in a wild matte dark havana, and the FLAT TOP comes in two sharp new havana acetates: a dark kaleidoscope-patterned havana and a groovy light havana reminiscent of a tiger print.

All top-offed with the meticulously combined tint of Carl Zeiss lens. Classic and timeless shapes with a wild edge.

PANAMA: PORT COLORS

When we introduced the PANAMA model last season in havana and tortoise acetates, we knew it had the staying power to become a SUPER classic, the timelessness of the silhouette and strength of the design making it easily adaptable to various personas. This season we are introducing color in the PANAMA model. The color combinations were carefully studied to ensure a tasteful and modest effect of transparent acetates and tinted lenses without diluting the class and elegance of the model. Available in three variations: in lucid metal in matte blue, in a brown crystal acetate or green crystal acetate, always with silver hardware. Subtle yet striking.

PILOT SERIES

At SUPER we made it our mission this season to produce the perfect shades for driving in the high-glare Spring/Summer months. The result? The PILOT SERIES: four of our sportiest, most sought-after silhouettes equipped with a unique Carl Zeiss lens specifically designed for driving. Studies have proven that the special brown and orange tinged lenses provide the optimum comfort to the eye under the strain of sunlight.

Colors are not modified, allowing the eye to relax rather than to adjust to unnatural colors. The shades were then treated with an anti-reflection effect on the inside to avoid those annoying and distracting reflections in your eyes and allow you to see clearer. Ideal for driving short or long distances, whether it be in your sports car, family wagon, chopper, speed boat or scooter. Available in sleek, impeccable black with gunmetal hardware in our FLAT TOP, RACER, GIAGUARO or FLAT TOP SMALL silhouettes.

GIAGUARO: QUASIMODO

Drawing on the same concept as our previous VINCENZO and RANDAGIO models, the GIAGUARO ‘QUASIMODO’ is a result of a long-forgotten acetate-blending technique from the Seventies. This completely unique yet classic piece of eyewear is composed of three various havana acetates in the same family of color, with each acetate forming a different component of the shades. The deep bottle-green lenses offer the final stand-out touch. Completely unique, for those eyewear connoisseurs who like to turn heads.

METAL: LEON

This is the first time SUPER has designed a full metal silhouette , all the while ensuring that we remain true to our mission: realizing high-quality, stylish and sturdy eyewear.

The over-sized metal frame features a single bridge rather than a nose piece, giving a very unique take on a familiar design, while the sturdiness of the metal frame is thanks to the use of Barberini glass lenses, which have been carefully selected in a variety of tints and feature the photo-chromatic technology, therefore adjusting to the sensitivity of the light.

The shades are characterized by a meticulous engraving and decoration around the lenses, and feature an ‘RETROSUPERFUTURE’ inscription underneath the bridge. Available in three color variations: with a golden frame and a selection of lenses in yellow, green, blue, and pink. A beautiful, delicate and functional piece of eyewear.

We are very happy to announce that Super sunglasses was invited – and accepted with great pleasure – to participate to the 2011 edition of Elton John’s White & Tiara Ball. This event, launched in 1999 by Sir Elton John and David Furnish, is a successful fundraising ball organized by the Elton John Aids Foundation and is set amongst thirty-seven acres of rolling English countryside next to the Windsor castle. Since its birth the event has raised over £40 million that have been entirely devoted to the research and evolution of the fight against Aids.

Along with a guest list composed of our world’s most acclaimed celebrities and professionals, the high-end shindig is furthermore characterized by the participation of a tight selection of upscale brands and fashion houses, whom on their behalf are invited to collaborate with an exclusive creation specifically tailored for the event.

Sir Elton John himself invited RetroSuperFuture to participate. Following his career-long passion for eyewear, Super created a  spectacle specifically made to underline Elton’s flavor with astonishing artesan and skillful techniques. Our People silhouette is hand covered in fine Italian white leather and in contrast with a unique Carl Zeiss electric blue faded lens, created especially for this special project. The soft yet sturdy matte silver arms complete the piece, and carry the signature RSF Limited Edition mark on one arm and the Elton John for EJAF description on the other.

These sunglasses are absolute unique pieces exclusively made and sold at the EJAF White & Tiara Ball auction June 2011 edition. All of the proceeds have been entirely donated to the fight against Aids

Super picks up the concept of printed acetate and takes it even further than it had a few years back with the infamous  Alife collaboration (entirely wiped-out and sold-out in less than 24 hours from its release), and the elegantly decorated Liberty London frames (also a great success). This time around, the VISIVA SERIES project has a seasonal life of its own.

Following the season’s theme, Super will release a selection of pieces adorned with a precise selection of prints. Wether they be inside the frame, delicately placed on the front, or sharply decorating certain details, the eyewear will feature unique aesthetic characteristics that immediately bring out Super’s signature touch of style.

With this release, Super is proud to introduce the Poissons, a pre-collection release to anticipate the flavor and aesthetic of ‘VISIVA SERIES’: appealing, with an high visual impact, a completely unique style.
Working with two models introduced in our Autumn/Winter collection – the America and the Paloma – the Poissons offer a clean and determined retouch to both silhouettes, establishing their personality and broadening their range along the way.

As mentioned above, this pre-release pack also underlines a technique we have been experimenting and working with since our early days: the meticulous use of handcrafted prints and illustrations in eyewear.
Both the America and the Paloma have been given a subtle yet strong treatment through the careful application of illustrations by Louis Renard, a specialist in the 1700s in the marine creature illustrations. The application of these particular illustrations, dating mid-1700s, on the inside of the body of the shades elevates the eyewear to an unrivaled level, resulting in a completely unique style.

The America, solid and classic, comes in an intense dark Havana with a smooth tobacco lens. While the equally universal Paloma has been interpreted in an amber crystal acetate, also fitted with a tobacco lens. Two great shades sure to carry you stylishly and seamlessly towards the Summer.

For our 5th collaboration with Barneys NYC we decided to honor our shared dedication to our roots and uncompromised quality. So we stripped back to the essentials to produce a special version of our quality Evergreens: modest, modern and solid.

The limited edition shades feature our slick crystal acetate, clean and translucent so you can see and appreciate the frame and finesse of the skeleton within in its meticulous detail. The crystal is teamed with another rudimentary SUPER favorite: solid matte metal, keeping things essential.

Frames are set with a deep green lens – the green shade specifically chosen to honor to the impressive emerald lenses used to improve sight in the origins of lens use, by Rome’s 5th Emperor.

Building upon the design and research of the Autumn 2011 collection, following a lot of thoughtful experimentation with a multitude of materials and shapes, SUPER returns this Winter with continuing exploration of PANAMÀ.

Racer

The novelty of the Winter collection, the Racer is, as its name suggests the sportiest, flashiest model of the season. The racer shades have a gritty masculine appeal, and all the charm of 70’s pilot, but worn by your sweetheart they’ll make your head spin!

Available in a glossy black-on-black with delicate gold plaques on the arms; a 70’s-drenched transparent caramel with tobacco brown lenses and gold plaques; and in a knock-out wild leopard Havana.

STRIKING NEW COLORS
The 11-12 Winter, comes stronger than ever, following up on this preceding experiences, seasons and shapes, to compose a collection of subtle, deep and cutting edge color-ways. With a more mature and discerning approach to color than ever, we have developed an entirely original and adventurous color palette that is sure to comfort and uplift you throughout the drab Winter months. The formula is of course, unchanged: sunglasses with a contemporary design are handmade in Italy using only the finest materials, genuine Carl Zeiss lenses and highly researched acetates, offering as always style and quality at the best price. The trusty Havana acetate is a prominent feature this Winter in all its forms and shades, ranging from light to dark, solid to semi-transparent. 49er

The ‘retro-elegant’ 49er, first introduced in the Autumn collection, returns this Winter in two new impressive variations. Super’s modern-day take on the iconic explorer silhouette, with its resistant metal skeleton is semi-framed in acetate and fully framed in gold. Choose from a sporty emerald green acetate with a contrasting tobacco lens and gold hardware to brighten up a gray Winter’s morning, or the chic and beautiful rare tortoise Havana acetate equipped with dark brown lenses and gold hardware.

Giaguaro

The Giaguaro, which first set pulses racing in Autumn, has an established presence this Winter: With our metal skeleton partially set in the acetate to create a sturdy yet light structure; and our trademark technique of using dynamic color-ways and the combination of specially researched materials. Available this season in 4 daring color paths to satisfy the most discerning of palates: a slick and evergreen black completed with Zeiss rock-hard black lenses and a delicate silver bar across the front of the model; in our contemporary transparent skeleton, an eye-catching crystal acetate coupled with contrasting greens lenses; or in a deep bottle green with an elegant brown lens combo, and silver hardware. For the more adventurous, the shades come in a slick matte puma acetate—the result of meticulous research by Super—partially encased in a black acetate. Paloma

América

America made its debut in Fall with three decisive models, and for Winter we have decided to broaden the scope of this light-hearted reinvention by adding two softer color-ways: a smooth and deeply elegant blue with a contrasting tobacco lens and a dark and indulgent classic Havana with brown lenses. Solid, cool and clean, like a genuine Americana.

The reliable Basic lets color do the talking this Winter. The trusty and universal silhouette was the perfect backdrop for our exploration with full color this season. With a distinctive flair, we present two entirely new matte color paths, a sober dark gray and a luxe crème caramel: no frills, bells or whistles, letting the design and impact of the color stand alone. People CRAYON

Proven favorites with cross-season appeal, durable but never tired, the Winter collection would not be complete without the addition of the People to help you combat the Winter sun in style. In keeping with our thirst for innovation and research we have, as always, given our trusty friends an up-to-date edge by using them as a canvas to introduce our new crayon color path. Opaque color-ways, the prominent feature of the season, create an interesting and innovative contrast, unique to Super: Black matte and a matte crystal combination; Matte beige and matte crystal combination; and a matte dark gray and matte crystal duo-acetate combination. Made with researched acetates and historical techniques to create the duo-acetate effect, these shades can only be found at Super. Sure to draw stares this Winter.

Anchor

Following the Printed Palms seen in the Autumn collection, we revisit our new hand-designed illustration concept for Winter with another fantastic retro print. This time around handmade palm trees are replaced with old-school anchors, inspired by retro upholstery and hand-designed yet again by up-and-coming artist Ana Kras. The anchor print is mounted on the interior of each model, with declining shades of blue set on an inky retro blue against a contrasting glossy black shell exterior. The print is mounted on a selection of out new models and best-sellers alike, giving everyone a chance to wear their favorite or most-suited silhouette: Available in América, Basic, Flat Top, Flat Top Small and Paloma. SUPER got together with the achingly-cool French outfit Cool Cats. A unique meeting of minds, whose work we respect and has made them one of Europe’s most influential young multi-talented figures today. Together, we present a hand-customized special edition model, representing a shared vision of unrivaled style and substance.

Internationally renowned for its cult artwork, carefully-curated merchandise and collaborations, Cool Cats (& Ed Banger Records) ooze with the respect for its family – major players on the club and street scene—Pedro Winter, DJ, producer, founder of Ed Banger Records and legendary manager of Daft Punk; creative director SO-ME, in-house graphic genius at Ed Banger Records and music-video director; and Michael Dupouy, the mastermind behind web media and creative agency La MJC, and the power behind many French and internationally recognized street culture initiatives and publications.

Taking the design cue from the Cool Cats logo—the concept is to bring the cat’s (logo)sunglasses to life—SUPER worked with the Cool Cats design team led by SO-ME. The result: a hand-customized carnation of the much-loved W silhouette, the linear ‘retro-futuristic’ member of the SUPER family.

The shades were meticulously hand-crafted, reproducing a life-size Cool Cats logo, achieved by skillfully inserting the silver stripe by hand one-by-one, thanks to the cooperation of our experts at Carl Zeiss Vision!
As always we stayed true to the SUPER standards by using only top-notch materials: meaning quality solid black acetate and ruthenium hinges. The arms feature delicate silver inscriptions, hallmarks of quality SUPER finishing: the Cool Cats logo is displayed on the outer arms, winking in the sunlight.

Lovingly made in Italy, with personalized packaging designed by SO-ME. Sure to be a compelling collaboration for SUPER followers and Cool Cats affiliates alike, these shades are the coolhunter’s collectibles.

The Panama & 49ers’s attention-grabbing next of kin: the Giaguaro has a more pronounced silhouette, available in havana light acetate with a unique frame partially set in golden amber acetate.

Gold detailing on the arms and a delicate gold bar across the front of the model add an old-school elegance, while the rare matte acetate is a result of much research, giving these shades an unmistakably contemporary vibe.

Created to satisfy both women and men, this smaller small version has an elegant, more gentleman appeal, yet maintains the sleek and sharp look of its bigger brother.

The Flat Top Small are also available in 4 new colors: blue with brown lenses, brown with green lenses, green with brown lenses and last but not least resin with green lenses.

The more streamlined silhouette makes for more accessible wearability, concentrating on its clean cut shape, sweetly giving way to simple elegance.

The 49er celebrates the classic explorer sunglasses. Super revisits the idea with contemporary freshness, never losing the authenticity of the historic model incarnate.
