The UK effectively used its veto to block an attempt, led by the French and Germans.

Today; European leaders say 26 out of 27 EU member states have agreed a tax and budget agreement to tackle the debt crisis of eurozone.

The 17 countries that use the euro have all agreed to the deal; nine other countries have said they will sign up.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy said they could not accept the demand of Mr Cameron's (UK Prime Minister) insistence on a protocol allowing London to opt-out on proposed change on financial services.

India's decision to open up retail markets will revolutionize the shopping behavior of Indian's - some people are happy, but many fear the consequences. Definitely this move is not without opposition in parliament.

Big giants like Tesco, Walmart and Carrefour have opened in many countries across the world, including in China, Russia and Brazil. Until now, in India; they were not allowed to sell directly to shoppers - but all that is set to change.

Economist Mohan Guruswamy of the Centre for Policy says "The average Wal-Mart store will displace 11,200 people and replace them with 285 people. That's our calculation in a study that we have done" ; which will affect the poor people.

"We have a policy which is distinct and different. This policy is specific to India's complexities, social structures and needs of our people."

The policy is an executive decision and does not need parliament's approval.

The 143-year-old TATA group has more than 100 companies in more than 80 countries, employing 425,000 people with a value of about $98bn, and has interests including telecoms, engineering and science.

RM Lala, (written a book on the Tata group), said he was "a little surprised" by Mr Mistry's appointment. He said "I expected a Tata name to be there. But if the new successor sticks to Ratan Tata's principles, it won't affect the group,".

In India; when you wake up; you may drink tea of Tata Brand, you may make calls using mobile phone (of Tata's) and take a sedan (of Tata's) or take a Tata bus to work. Your home kitchen may be stuffed with goods produced by Tata or its subsidiary companies. Your house may be powered by Tata electricity. Your kids or grand children may be employed in Tata Companies or your kids may be going for higher studies at a social science or science school run by the Tata's. Also there is a big chance; you will be wearing costumes sold by Tata. Your family may be watching Tata-sky; also there are possibilities you may go-to Tata Hospital when you fall sick.

There is no other Indian business conglomerate which quite dominates the lives of Indians the way Tata Group does.

Tata Group acquired Jaguar, Land Rover, Chorus, hotels in US and plotted a coffee plant in Uganda.
Build a new undersea submarine cable linking India, the Middle East and Western Europe. Signed deal with China's software company in collaboration with the Chinese government and Microsoft.

For now, Only few companies in India or Asia can match Tata for the range of goods and services it offers.

Col. Muammar Gaddafi has been killed

Col Gaddafi and a handful of his men managed to escape on foot and sought refuge in two large drainage pipes filled with rubbish. Rebel forces then closed in.

Col Gaddafi was captured at around noon.

al-Jazeera news channel broadcast footage showing the dazed and wounded Col Gaddafi gesticulating while being man-handled by rebel fighters.

Mahmoud Jibril, the NTC prime minister, confirmed the news that Col Gaddafi was dead, saying: "We have been waiting for this moment for a long time. Muammar Gaddafi has been killed."

So, eight months after the Libyan revolt began, seven months after Nato sent in the warplanes and two months after the fall of Tripoli, Muammar Gaddafi is dead.

Gold, Silver, Precious Stones are among valuables found at Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple.
The temple was built in the 16th Century by the kings who ruled over the then kingdom of Travancore.

The royal family consider themselves to be servants of the presiding deity at the temple, Padmanabhaswamy (the Hindu God Vishnu in eternal sleep); this is why they historically entrusted their wealth to the temple.

60% of the MPs belonging to two key regional parties, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party - who profess to serve the poor and the untouchables - face criminal charges.

A recently opened histroical museum in Moscow revealed that Vladimir Lenin's maternal grandfather was born jewish.

The founding father of Soviet Russia, Vladimir Lenin identified himself as Russian in his biography.

In a letter to Stalin in 1932 — six years after Lenin's death — Anna Ulyanova, Lenin's older sister, wrote that their maternal grandfather "came from a poor Jewish family.

The information from declassified KGB files, is not a minor detail in a country where anti-Semitism was a recognized state doctrine for decades.

MF Husain passes away in London!

Mf Hussain has been called the Picasso of India; a great painter!

Hussain lived in exile and accepted Qatari citizenship as he enraged Indian Hindu Groups after he painted nude pictures of Hindu Deities.

His narrative paintings, executed in a modified Cubist style, can be caustic and funny as well as serious and sombre.

Anne Boleyn Queen of England (Year 1533 -1536); as the second wife of King Henry VIII of England!

She was daughter of Thomas Boleyn, 1st Earl of Wiltshire.

She refused to become mistress of King Henry VIII. Soon it became of attractive object of desires which resulted in annul his marriage to Queen Catherine. Anne was crowned Queen of England in 1533.. She had a larger staff of servants. There were over 250 servants or helpers (which includes priests to stable-boys). She gave birth to Elizabeth I (of England). However, they could not have male heir; many miscarriages followed.

In 1536 Henry orders for investigation against Anne for high treason. She was tried and found guilty. Subsequently she was beheaded four days later on Tower Green.
Following the coronation of her daughter, Elizabeth, as queen, Anne was venerated as a martyr and highly respected queen of the English Reformation.

Her execution was one of saddest events in England’s Royal Family history. Her execution; made her an important model in the political and religious movement of English and Political Establishments. And one of the important and the most influential queen consort England has ever had!

If you compare the existing photographs with George Mallory's photos of Himalayas (dated 1921); it reveals a stunning truth; the ice of the Himalaya is disappearing faster than scientists predicted. If the present rate of melting continues for next 50 years; Himalayas will become history.

Melting glaciers in the Himalaya is controversial; and many disputed reports from glaciologists.

BP Oil Spill & Bhopal

The Bhopal Gas Tragedy is the world's worst industrial disaster:

It occurred on the night of December 2/3, 1984 at the Union Carbide India Limited (subsidiary of Dow Chemical) pesticide plant in Bhopal-India. A leak of gas and other chemicals from the plant resulted in the exposure of several thousands of people. About fifteen thousand people died so far. In that 8000 were immediate deaths.

In June 2010, seven ex-employees, including the former chairman of UCIL, were convicted in Bhopal of causing death by negligence and sentenced to two years imprisonment and a fine of about $2,000 each, the maximum punishment allowed by law; unfortunately Justice denied to those families; who lost their loved ones. So far they have not got adequate compensation in last so many years. Justice denied to those families.

Let’s take a look at BP Oil Spill in Gulf of Mexico, USA:

Thank god; no deaths!

$20 Billion (with $3 billion immediate deposit in escrow account); Americans received as compensation from BP. This is for Oil spill from BP Oil Drill; which caused environment disaster, affected many beach goers and fishermen, and for impact to regional economy.

The legendary journalist; covered the administrations of ten US presidents; had to resign after her controversial comments about Israel / Palestine were captured on video and widely circulated on the Internet.

A rabbi asked her a question about Israel; her reply was: "Tell them to get the hell out of Palestine." She continued to say that the Palestinians are "occupied" and that the Jews should "Go home" – to Germany Poland, America and "everywhere else."
