You can enter your email to get the top new free stock photos sent to your inbox every week.

The license is free, with some right reserved, which means the photo is made available for use under a non-exclusive license to download, copy, modify, distribute, perform, display and use in accordance with this License and the Burst Terms of Service. You do not need to provide attribution to the photographer, Shopify or Burst, although you are encouraged to attribute the photographer whenever possible.

Beautiful, free photos. Gifted by the world’s most generous community of photographers.

This is the promise of Unsplash, a stock photo site that lets you download high-resolution images for public use. The site is updated with 10 new photos every 10 days, so there is almost always something new to choose from.

Find different types of pictures, including lots of landscapes, with many outstanding lighting and Instagram style effects.

The site is also very nice and easy to use. Each photo includes a link to the photographer’s page, which you can choose to link (credit is welcome, but not mandatory for the download).

3. Pexels

With over ten million monthly visitors and thousands of new photos added each month, Pexels is one of the most popular choices to find free great pictures online.

Unlike other sites, it allows you to create a profile to save your favorite photos, upload your media and even download free videos.

There is an incredible abundance of pictures of all kinds, with resolutions of up to 6000×3375 px (Ultra Hd).

Whether you need photos for your blog, for your business or you just like to watch beautiful photos, Pexels will certainly not disappoint you.

4. Pixabay

Pixabay is another popular choice to download free photos, in particular for most bloggers and designers.

With over one million images, it offers a wide choice of categories and allows you to search based on many interesting parameters, such as the kind of content (photos, video or vector images), resolution and effects.

All contents are released under Creative Commons CC0, which makes them safe to use without asking for permission or giving credit to the artist.

5. Gratisography

Ryan McGuire of Bells Design has built a fun site where he uploads new photos every week that can be downloaded for free.

Images can be used for personal or commercial projects, and each picture includes a high-resolution version.

Gratisography has a nice variety of funny images.

6. Refe

This site has a good variety of images – mostly of objects and landscapes – with a difference from other sites: each photo is taken with a mobile device.

These free images can be used for any digital project, but not all of them has the right resolution for printing.

The photos of Refe have a different streak than other sites, as most of them capture everyday life.

7. Jay Mantri

Jay Mantri uploads on his site seven new photos each week, which are free and can be used in whatever you want.

While the style of the images is varied, many of them look rather funky, including a series of photos that feature the illustration of common objects and sunglasses.

8. MyStock.photos

MyStock.photos is a resource of beautiful images made by professional photographers, available free of charge for both personal and commercial purposes.

From dessert to simple vegetable pictures, Foodiesfeed has images of virtually any edible object you can imagine.

Maybe the name does not tell a lot, but Death to the Stock Photo offers every month new free images that you can download for commercial use.

In order to receive new pictures directly to your inbox, simply leave your email address.

14. New Old Stock

New Old Stock is a great site if you’re looking for vintage photos without any copyright restriction. The images are public domain since they are many years old, free of known copyright restrictions.

The site is very simple to use, just scroll through the pages and right-click on a photo to save it.

15. SuperFamous

Superfamous is the website of the designer Folkert Gorter, who offers his many high-resolution images with a Creative Commons license 3.0.

Most of the images on this site are related to nature, in particular the landscapes surrounding the mountains.

16. Public Domain Archive

The Public Domain Archive is a collection of free, unprotected images that are free for personal and commercial use.

With new photos uploaded every week, there are always new images to be downloaded through a good variety of categories.

The type and style of pictures on this site vary considerably. Some are new and modern, while many others are pretty old images. You can also send your own pictures to make them public.

17. Picjumbo

Picjumbo is another stock photo site, offering many high-quality images that you can download free of charge and use at your will.

There is also the possibility of accessing to a premium photo collections.

Search engine optimization is something you should learn if you are a blogger.

You can get traffic from social media, or your mailing list, or even other marketing methods.

So without further ado, here are five WordPress SEO tips that will help you get a little more attention from those fussy spiders and crawlers that search engines use in the ranking process.

1. Modify Your Permalinks

The permalink structure is one of the elements that WordPress users have full control over.

And if you aren’t quite sure what a permalink is, that is basically how your URL appear in the browser’s bar. For instance a blog might be set up to show blog posts the following way:

domain-name.com/year/month/day/blog-post-title.html

The above example shows a URL structure that is not quite ideal. The problem is that the main component i.e. the blog post is buried in the archive in such a way that the search engines need to first go through the year, then the month category and then the specific day until they reach the article.

The deeper the crawlers have to go, the better the chance for them to decide not to waste time indexing a page. The latter is obviously NOT what you want.

So how do you modify your permalinks?

You simply open up your WordPress dashboard, go to Settings –> Permalinks. There you choose “Post name” and save the changes.

This will result in a flat blog post architecture, which is best in terms of SEO and ease of navigation.

2. Install A WordPress SEO Plugin

There are a few SEO plugins available for WordPress that do pretty much the same tasks.

WordPress SEO by Yoast is a great one, but I always used All in One SEO Pack Plugin (and pretty satisfied with it).

One of the things I found (and am still finding) most useful about it is the tab that you get under the post editor. There you have the option to choose the so called “focus keyword” for the post you are just writing.

You can also write your own meta description tag. Additionally you can also include a search engine title. That allows you to choose one title to be displayed on your actual blog and second, search engine optimized one for the SERPs.

Aside from that, there’s lots to do in the plugin’s settings page. For example:

• You can add noindex to archives to avoid duplicate content 
• You can modify your XML sitemaps
• A lot of different title settings (blog, page or category title)

3. Get A Premium WordPress Theme

Having a professional theme ensures that your content will be indexed by the search engines, since the developers have taken special time to optimize every aspect in terms of both security and SEO.

The unlimited support you get after purchasing a premium theme on the other hand shouldn’t be underestimated as well. Whereas with a free theme there are all kinds of glitches that can occur, the same can hardly happen with premium themes. If it does happen however, you get full support on dealing with the problem. And sometimes reacting timely can save you from losing search engine positions and traffic.

But if you are at the beginning of your blogging career and you can’t afford a paid theme, don’t worry. There are hundreds of beautiful free themes you can choose. 4. Set The “Slug”

Wondering what a slug is? Well that’s the part of the URL of your blog that you will point exactly to the post you are currently writing. WordPress allows you to directly modify the slug without much hassle, so that’s a practice well-worth following.

The slug is generated upon the title you’ve added in the title field in the WordPress post editor. However in 99% of the cases the end result is far from ideal. Modifying the slug is fortunately as easy as clicking on it and writing your own version.

There are three factors you should pay attention to when doing so:

• Length – the shorter and to the point, the better. Best for both the reader (yes, some people do pay attention to the URL) and for the search engines would be to keep it under 3-4 words.
• Relevancy – Obviously the slug has to be relevant and it has to point exactly to what you are going to cover in the article. Best would be if it consists of the main keyword (preferably long-tail one) that you will be using.

5. Add a Related Posts Widget

The are several plugins you can use to add related articles to your blog posts, but with my theme, this come already as an option.

The idea is simple. Since those kinds of tools aim to provide relevant content to the article that they are displayed under, the links there are valuable in terms of SEO.

If your theme does not support related posts, simply grab a plugin (this is one of the most popular ones, with 4,7 out of 5 stars reviews).

Don’t expect that just the link in the fan page about field will get people clicking and reading your blog. 

2. Be Careful not To Bore People

Yeah, your articles (or articles from other blogs for that matter) might all be interesting and they might all provide information, that’s worth the read.

However sometimes people just want to have fun.

And as serious as your niche might be, there should always be place for that.

Stories, comics, pictures – you need to mix things a little.

Those are the kinds of posts that get the bigger part of the likes, shares and comments.

3. Be a Real Person, Not a Just the Next “Brand”

A Facebook page can either be very impersonal OR it can be a place where all kinds of folks come to share their own points of view on different matters. What you make out of it is all up to you and I’d highly recommend you the second option.

The first step is to start writing descriptions to each and every story you make. It doesn’t matter if it is an image that you are sharing, your latest blog post or an infographic you just came across. Whatever it is, make sure to tell people why you are sharing that specific piece and tell them why they should take a minute to check it out.

Additionally you should also pose different questions, reply to those who comment on them and thus create a discussion. Whenever someone leaves a comment, be it a positive or a negative one, you should always have a standpoint.

In short, show people you are a living, breathing organism, just like them! 

4. Don’t Irritate Your Fans

Especially with the notification system that Facebook made available for the fan pages, you should pay even more attention to what you share.

Since that feature allows your fans to subscribe for your updates i.e. to get notified via the notifications icon on the top bar, you must make sure not to irritate them.

Basically consider factors such as how much stories per day you post (I wouldn’t recommend more than 2-4), how much promotional content you share (for instance reviews of products with affiliate links in them) and also what the ratio between publications with links, text only and images is.

Also make sure not to post too many images and quotes – although they tend to get lots of attention – they shouldn’t be the focal point of your Facebook marketing strategy.

5. Don’t be Afraid to Use Automation

Over time I’ve seen lots of different opinions on the automation topic. It seems like lots of marketers don’t think of it is a genuine way to make progress, also thanks to social media management tools.

But in the end, I can’t really see why so much criticism revolves around automation…

As bloggers our priority should come down to creating content. Looking from that perspective, every saved minute that goes towards writing, should be valued.

6. Use Twitter for More than Sharing

Blog post ideas, new connections and lots of interesting discoveries are some of the things you can achieve by paying attention to Twitter not only when you need traffic. One of the biggest issues with the microblogging platform is namely self-promotion – it seems like everyone’s there for that and nothing else.

The system can’t function that way. There’d really be no point if everyone would be to log-in, tweet their own post and log-out. You also have to see what others have in store!

As a matter of fact you might be surprised by how much new things you can get to discover thanks to Twitter.

Adding your favorite bloggers to lists and taking five minutes to check some of their shares every day might turn out a doorway to new discussions with new people, new content for your to-read list, new blog post ideas and more traffic.

That’s how Twitter marketing should be done!

7. Don’t Waste too Much Time on It

There’s no doubt – engaging with others is a crucial component to every successful social media campaign. However one counter-intuitive advice from me is don’t get carried away.

Discussions are a great thing, as they lead to new ideas. Saying thank you to those who’ve supported you is also important, since it helps you build trust. In the end of the day however, that is not the key to success.

Social media is just how you spread the word.

I would recommend you to set a schedule of some sort.

It’s simple the more time you spend on this, the less productive you actually are. 

8. Care About Both Quality and Quantity

Quality over quantity – that seems to be a trend nowadays. Indeed one should focus on quality. Having inactive followers, who don’t even share your interests is worthless – there’s no denying.

But then again, why not keep the quality and ramp up the quantity factor simultaneously? 

Namely because, as I mentioned above, people rarely take  the time to check others’ work, tweets don’t get much exposure. It’s logical that the more followers you have, the more people will end up seeing your tweets and acting upon them.

So let me tell you one thing – start working on your following! As of now I have over 35,000 followers and Twitter traffic is going up with each and every new follower I get.
