Everything’s falling into place for the Warning.

After serving up their scorching “Kerosene” in March and the boom-heavy “Ego” in May, the sisters Villareal have now confirmed that their fifth album arrives in full this summer. Dubbed Everything’s Falling, it sees release August 28th through Lava/Republic Records.

Details are still developing behind the release, but the Warning have spent the past week teasing the release through a countdown website, which initially pictured a pair of flame-charred angel wings and an email sign-up.

Add to this, the band began promoting their next single, “Ritual,” through a series of teasers on socials, which find guitarist Dany, drummer Pau and bassist Ale donning their own feathers, as well as brandishing some kind of ceremonial dagger. It also seemingly stars a group of masked occultists and a pale white horse.

The “Ritual” video is rated “R,” per one of their posts, and features “strong sequences of ritual and transformation, of a symbolic death.” The single officially touches down this Friday (June 12th).

Though we’re waiting for rest of the info, colored vinyl and CD copies of Everything’s Falling — the band’s first LP since 2024’s Keep Me Fed — are up for pre-order now in Revolver’s shop. That’d be the album cover down below.

As previously reported, the Warning are currently undertaking a spring North American tour with Yungblud, which hits New York City’s Radio City Music Hall. The rest of their upcoming tour dates can be found here.

Ho99o9 are back with a massive track for the masses, a bruising rap-rock protest anthem called “Power in Numbers.”

The standalone single arrived today (June 10th), and is described in a press release as having “a powerful message rooted in unity, resistance, and collective strength.”

It bops with a Rage-like fervor, brawnily-crushed drums and fuzz-fused guitar hooks gnashing beneath Yeti Bones’ urgent calls to action (“First thing’s first: fight the power, by any means necessary”) and revolution-anticipating bars (“I’m in a rage to make a change in the system, so better watch what you say to me”). TheOGM hops in for the heavy chorus.

You’ll find the pair servin’ up the “new revolution, straight to your face” via the music video up above. It mixes live footage shot at Hellfest — including some behind-the-scenes pallin’ around with Slipknot’s Corey Taylor — with moments of Ho99o9 either painting in their art space or rapping from the top of a building.

The song is Ho99o9’s first of the year, and follows 2025’s Tomorrow We Escape album.

The duo launch their European summer tour tonight at Lorient, France’s Hydrophone. You’ll find the rest of their overseas schedule here.

From the early basement days, to their Aughts-era tours with Slayer, to their own arena-topping treks of the present day, Mastodon have stomped their way into fans’ hearts as a must-see live act.

Pop into any of the Georgia-formed group’s concert appearances, and you’re bound to experience sweat, blood and thunder pouring out of the act as they explore eight albums and counting of sludge, prog and heavy psych sounds.

While they’ve delivered plenty of fan favorites over the decades, what’s the single song the faithful are desperate for Mastodon to crack into onstage? We asked out readers this very question, and these were the picks that mother-punched their way to the top of the list.

Led by a hulking but herky-jerky riff, a staggeringly opening drum fill from Brann Dailor, and ominous lyricism, “Blood and Thunder” is indeed a thunderous force of nature.

The song isn’t exactly a holy grail moment in a Mastodon setlist — it’s a song they’ve played more than 800 times over the past couple decades. And in a 2024 talk with Guitar World, Bill Kelliher likened Leviathan’s opening crush-out to Motörhead’ “Ace of Spades,” further describing it as the “kind of song that we have to play every night, whether we want to or not.”

While mandatory, this Leviathan treasure still kills every time.

A chill hypnotism throbs through the first half of the track, but a mid-song pivot ushers in big chugging riffs, monster-metal grooves, classically ripping solos and a proggy reprise.

Though Mastodon have dropped jaws since their inception, few songs in their mighty songbook get the fandom’s blood pumpin’ quite like Leviathan’s penultimate, near-14-minute epic, “Hearts Alive.” Indeed, it’s a Masto-classic that has topped a number of our fan polls in the past.

The ebb and flow is masterful, moving from saltwater-woozy arpeggiation towards a prog-sludged waltz about the beastly whale insidiously lurking through the choppiest of waters. And then came Brent Hinds’ god-mode solo, a hickory-seasoned shred-fest playing with elements of country rock, metal, blues and everything in between.

It’s a song Mastodon haven’t played since the tail end of 2024 — before Hinds’ exit from the band and his untimely passing — but for those who caught it up close, seeing “Hearts Alive” in-concert was revolutionary.

“That’s a really nice song. Great band.”

A good omen for grunge fans with a taste for modern heavy music, Soundgarden and onetime Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron just delivered his own percussive interpretation of Bad Omens’ “Just Pretend” for the good folks at Drumeo.

Cameron is the latest drummer to think outside the box for Drumeo’s “For the First Time” YouTube series, where the hosts introduce a musician to a tune for the very first time — and without drum accompaniment — before letting the guest sort out the rhythms on their own. Past episodes include Dream Theater’s Mike Portnoy playing Taylor Swift, and the Police’s Stewart Copeland working his way around Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’ (Air Raid Vehicle).”

The hosts told Cameron that they sought him out because of his proficiency with odd time signatures, as well as “the tribal kind of tom grooves that you play on a lot of different recordings.” He made the request for Drumeo not show him a Sleep Token song, just because they’d done that on a few episodes already (Cameron added that he thinks Sleep Token are pretty good).

Instead, he was shown Bad Omens’ “Just Pretend,” the sixth single from the latter’s 2022 full-length, THE DEATH OF PEACE OF MIND. Cameron rocked the rhythms of the alt-metal ballad with a few intricate shifts, while also leaning into some slow grooves and extra accoutrement. He also discussed his process on how he plots out drum fills.

The Drumeo team complimented Cameron on the sickness of his odd-placed cymbal-and-tom grooves, while the Soundgarden founder liked what he heard of the original, adding, “That’s a really nice song. Great band…great songwriting. Love it.”

Omens drummer Nick Folio was also shown Cameron’s reinterpretation, leading him to applaud the longtime skinsman for his outside-of-the-box embellishment, compared to Folio’s restraint. “There’s a lot of pauses in that song where I don’t really play, and you fill the space perfectly,” Folio said. “That was awesome. Bravo, brother.”

You can see Cameron’s Bad Omens redux up above.

In related news, Soundgarden guitarist Kim Thayil just released his memoirs, A Screaming Life: Into the Superunknown With Soundgarden and Beyond.

Performing Mudvayne and Hellyeah songs

Chad Gray is set to keep the madness going throughout 2026, with the veteran metal vocalist having announced another round of solo dates celebrating the music of Mudvayne and Hellyeah.

Following his spring run of “30 Years of Madness” from earlier this year, Gray’s next tour begins in August, and will find him hitting tracks from both of his classic bands.

He noted in an Instagram post today (June 9th) that the “Madness” tour was originally conceived as an acoustic solo performance of “music from two bands that I worked and toiled tirelessly for 30 years to make successful, being played from the same stage, on the same night.” That evolved to become a full-band enterprise, where Gray has been joined on-stage by Mudvayne touring guitarist Marcus Rafferty, drummer Devin Attard, bassist Nick Villarreal and guitarist Joe Bonasorte.

“Since the beginning, I’ve wanted to bring this to all my fans everywhere. From here in America and everywhere abroad. And now I have the opportunity, so I’m gonna take it,” Gray said in a statement. “This fall, I’m hopefully going to come to a town near you and we are gonna walk in a room, let go of life and its problems and have some fucking fun! That has been my mission statement and mantra from the beginning of this. Let’s just have fun!”

The “Chadness” tour starts August 28th in Bloomington, Indiana, and runs into late October for a finale in Nashville, Tennessee. Along the way, Gray also makes fest stops at Louder Than Life and Aftershock.

Joining Gray on the headline dates will be support acts Butcher Babies and Devil’s Cut.

Presales begin today at 12 p.m. local, while general ticket sales go live this Friday (June 12th) at 10 a.m. local. You’ll find the show schedule below.

Though Underoath have only just begun their van tour heading to the Vans Warped Tour, the long-running post-hardcore group are now also setting their sights on a 20th anniversary run celebrating 2006’s Define the Great Line. Better yet, they’ll be topping a bill that also features metalcore mainstays August Burns Red, Atreyu and more.

The new round of tour dates was confirmed today (June 9th), with it being noted that Underoath’s Define the Great Line tour begins November 5th at the Pageant in St. Louis, Missouri. The six-week trip has August Burns Red and Atreyu supporting on all dates, while As Cities Burn and Emery will appear on select dates. All the opening bands were selected because they’ve been friends of Underoath’s “since the beginning.”

“What this album has meant to us, and so many others, over the past 20 years is hard to quantify,” guitarist Chris Dudley said of Define the Great Line. “It gave us permission to be ourselves. It sent us around the world. It gave people the freedom to say (and scream) the things out loud they had buried deep. It will outlive us.

“We still play these songs on stage 20 years later and get those chills. The opportunity to devote an entire tour to presenting this album in the best way it ever has been, alongside friends we’ve had since before it was released, is going to be bucket list material for us.”

A pre-sale for tickets begins today, while the general on-sale for the newly announced dates begins on Friday (June 12th). You can find more info over here.

Of course, Underoath also have their aforementioned van tour — which sees them hitting a series of smaller club venues, en route to their multiple appearances on the Vans Warped Tour — on the go right now. They play Savannah, Georgia’s Victory North venue tonight.

You’ll find the band’s updated and expanded tour plans in full down below.

The album is Chat Pile’s first since 2024’s Cool World. A press release has vocalist Ray Busch praising “Deep Blue” — both melancholy and psyche-penetrating, low-undulated strings shimmering uncannily beneath depressively melodic musings and past-the-brink screams — “because it sounds like Chat Pile doing a Billy Squire song.”

“It’s our ‘Lonely Is the Night,’ which is actually a fake Led Zeppelin song so who knows what the hell we’re actually doing here,” he says, adding of the song’s thematic drive, “Technology is rapidly ruining our lives, all promise seemingly squandered on the worst things, like killing people, wasting resources, destroying art — shrinking our brains and pulling us further apart than ever before.”

A video, directed by Stephen Mondics, is just as unsettling, seemingly concerning a couple and the collection of seniors they keep captive in a basement. Without spoiling too much, it features blue-pilling, beard-combing, sensual dances bordering on abuse, weapon-wielding, unsafe practices with dry cleaning bags, maybe a severed head, and more.

Though it’s unclear if the album title is a nod to the Velvet Underground, Chat Pile do cite Boston as having some kind of a sonic influence on the record’s layering. The album is further described as reflecting “the challenges of trying to keep one’s humanity in a time of extreme anti-humanity.”

“This record focuses on my grievances with the modern world,” Busch continues. “AI, genocide, climate change, the power elite, $$$$ hoarding pigs — all that shit fucks up your life and mine.”

In spite of — or perhaps because of — closing with a song called “October All the Time,” Who Loves the Sun is due out September 4th through the Flenser. You can pre-order a limited-edition colored vinyl variant from Revolver’s shop.

You’ll find the full tracklisting and cover art down below, along with Chat Pile’s just-announced North American tour supporting the LP.
