You see, I’ve had this blog title in my Email signature for quite some time and I actually started removing it when sending Emails to some people since I didn’t want to embarrass myself due to lack of posting. Maybe I can leave it up for a while now.

A few new music-related entries for today:

1) Check out Herbie Hancock’s new album “Imagine Project“. I caught a few tunes while hanging out with Charlie and the band the other night after rehearsal and was floored. There are some great individual performances on there… including some by John Legend, Pink, Seal and more. I was particularly floored by the cover of the old Gabriel/Bush duet “Don’t Give Up”. Besides being a great updated cover, they actually emulated the original performances while keeping their own style. Superbly done. Herbie is a genius.

2) Got a chance to play an original show recently with the Charlie Hines band at the 86 Club in downtown Cincinnati. Great time, great players, great players… and better yet, we got paid in smoothies. How much better could it get? If you’re in Cincy, try to catch a show at the 86 Club here and support the place. 3) Started writing again. I’ve been thinking about it and feeling motivated in that way for over a year now, and perhaps the recent hangout with Aaron and John, two fantastic musicians I get to play with on a regular basis, got the creative juices flowing again. We were working on some of Aaron’s tunes over at his place, and things were just clicking. Recently I’ve had all kinds of melodies floating through my head, so I’ve been trying to plunk them out on the piano. I know that eventually they’re all going to come flooding out, so I’m trying to get myself prepared for the sonic onslaught…  :-)

Time to go work out and continue listening to *BLINK* (Malcolm Gladwell), … that’s all for now.

I really like this blog theme but I’m thinking it might be time for something new. I do a lot of tinkering in WP (we use it for work, plus I use it for a few other blogs I’ve set up for people) and this theme doesn’t operate the way that most do. For some reason, all of the code is stored in another file and you can’t use the Editor in WordPress to mess with the PHP. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion…  kind of like trying to change the oil in your car but having the hood locked. Maybe a bad analogy, but you get my drift.

There a ton of free themes out there, and some you need to pay for. In most cases, everything you’d ever want to do CAN be done with free themes — it’s just that the paid ones give you more options and make it easier, saving time in the long run. That’s something I can definitely use more of…

Anyone out there have a favorite theme or theme designer? I’m partial to Thesis… I’d love to hear what you like to use!

Well, he’s decided that since he already has Obi-Wan’s light sabre, he should be Obi-Wan Kenobi. Then he decided that I needed to be a character that went WITH Obi-Wan Kenobi… When I told him I wanted to be Chewbacca, he politely informed me that I had to be Anakin or Jango Fett or even Mace Windu, but I could NOT be Chewy. “It just doesn’t make sense, Daddy…”

OK – so if anyone has a Jango Fett costume available starting October 2011, let me know, will ya.

Because I am so lame and don’t write as much as I should, I decided that I would repost this little story that Debbie (aka Mimi D) emailed me this morning. She always gets up first and spends a little time with Ethan in the AM while she’s getting ready for work…

Ethan was up at 6 a.m. this morning.  I got up around 6:30 and I asked him if he had been reading.  He said yes that he had been reading the Bible.  He said he read in Genesis first and then Exodus and then back to Genesis.  Then he said, “I think God knew I would like the Ark of the Covenant even before he created it”.  I never thought that the Bible would score points because it has the “Ark of the Covenant” in common with story of Indiana Jones.

This only proves what I’ve been saying all along… everything ALWAYS comes back to either Indiana Jones or Star Wars. No exceptions!

Yes. I know. It’s been a while. For some reason I decided I needed to post today — maybe I just felt the need to write about the millions of things going on in Rezerland… but I know I’m only going to get through a few of them before I get tired of typing and have to get back to work.

I need coffee. But alas, there is none…

Ethan’s into his 3rd day at CCDS and loving it… it’s SO perfect for him, and I’m grateful he has the opportunity to go there. I can only imagine what’s in store for him this year.

Drove to Findlay Market the other day and almost turned around after we got there cause E was having one of his “I don’t want to listen and I want to whine about everything” kind of mornings… luckily, things calmed down and we were able to get some yummies (Taste of Belgium & Dojo Gelato) as well as some fresh produce and bread. [side note — gotta try the avocado gelato there… SO good!) That evening, after a lazy day, I fired up the charcoal grill and cooked some filets, and Sarah rocked the fresh green beans, corn on the cob and garlic cheese toast. Yum.

Celebrated Mimi’s B-day ant Buca the other day… it’s so nice to be able to celebrate special times with family, and this was the first time in recent history that Debbie had both Benji & fam and Sarah & fam close. Way cool.

Right now I’m busy with lots of client projects, so when I get home I’m constantly conflicted — do I spend time with the family, work on stuff for a client, clean the house or work on a house project, do laundry, or watch Man V Food — the choices are endless. I’m getting through day by day, but sometimes it seems like every day there are more little checkboxes and less little checks…

Oh well. I guess I can check one thing off my list…
