In addition to conventional text and banner ads, publishers can now make money on everything from in-line text ads (highlighting specific words that link to advertisers) to pop-up previews (i.e. – Snap). AdCamo, the online advertising platform for Web page backgrounds, has added yet another unique ad format to its mix: the cursor.

While custom cursors are nothing new – one should probably noticed on countless MySpace profiles – monetizing them is, and represents the growing trend of selling ads on virtually every conceivable piece of Web real estate. AdCamo’s “brandable cursor” ads work alongside the service’s existing background ads, so for example, if you see an ad for Budweiser, you cursor may in turn become a can of Bud when you mouseover the background ad. Do click the picture below for sample viewing.

Since AdCamo is a platform, this essentially means that any Web publisher that uses the service for managing their ad inventory can now sell the new format. Additionally, since AdCamo teams up with ad agencies to sell its publisher’s ad space, they can sell the brandable cursor to their clients. Will anyone bite on this format, or is it a step too far into annoying? Let us know what you think in the comments.

App-vertisements are one of the stranger things to come out of the social media scene, as is the concept of social ads. These two unique advertising concepts are teaming up in the form of a partnership between SocialMedia and Buddy Media to create an even more social ad experience, whether we like it or not.

Ads are a necessary evil, it’s true, With the recent introduction of Buddy Media’s Buddybrain, app-vertisements got a bit more intrusive. Buddybrain allows brands to track their social media-based ad campaigns in great detail, giving brands greater insight into how the customers use and view their traditional ads and app-vertisements.

By joining forces, SocialMedia and Buddy Media effectively becomes the one go-to spot for social advertisement of all types. They have created an effective little monopoly on online ads for the social media and new media markets simply by being first in their respective fields and then first to join.

“Advertising in social media is about getting users to engage with a brand’s messaging in a way that scales and is measurable. Buddy Media simplifies the buying and execution of campaigns that get users to interact with brands.”

With Buddybrain combining with SocialMedia’s Premier Partner Program and Buddy Media’s App-vertising Reseller Program, app-vertisements may soon become the preferred way to reach customers in the social media space. Social media user is ready for this onslaught of applications that are also ads, but like mobile ads, they are fast on the rise.

What is the point of the social ad market? To make your favorite brands into your friends. By engaging the customer or potential customer, brands hope to become more accessible and likable, which they hope will lead to trust and increased sales. As obnoxious as this new ad space is, it seems to work. And as long as these mildly deceptive application-based social ad campaigns work, they’ll stick around.

Ever come across whereby you’re going to sell,to explain,to propose your products in a professional way.? Indeed Microsoft gave the ease to users whereby Microsoft Powerpoint were utilized in most of any project/product proposals. Software made its way in an ease, but what about hardware? The use of projector perhaps? You’ll get frustrated when you need to carry a loaded bag filled with a heavy projector.

Put all that aside as 3M brings you their latest creation, the first ever Pocket Projector. With its handful and carry with an ease brings professionalism in you towards your client. 3M had been planning to make a formal announcement in a few weeks. But their German division got so begeistert about the new product that they just spit out their own announcement.

Images were discernable up to about 11 inches across, even under the bright fluorescent office lights. But they were definitely faded. And some movie scenes were downright indecipherable. The same went for photos. The prototype 3M was brighter as it able to demonstrate during a presentation under bright lights to a few hundred people.

In a dark room, it could project a big enough image to be the ultimate cheap-o home theater. The projector will sell for a mere $359. It doesn’t have a speaker, so you’ll have to get that separately. But really, how good could a microscopic speaker jammed into this thing sound, anyway?

The MPro110 is pretty basic looking on the outside—just a grey box. But it gets the job down. A VGA input lets you plug in a laptop; and the composite video jack will take output from a digital camera, PSP, iPod, iPhone, or most any handheld device (though video-out is still pretty rare on cellphones). A thumbwheel on the front allows you to focus.

Banner, leaderboard, skyscraper, small rectangle. Just like for newspapers and print magazines, also on the Web advertisers and publishers have defined over time an official set of “online standard ad formats”. Such ad formats represent the full range of visual and text-ad sizes available for use on public web pages.

If you are a web publisher, blogger or other media outlet on the Internet, and are interested in monetizing your published assets, you may want to familiarize yourself with this illustrated list of standard online ad formats.

By knowing with are the standard ad formats to be utilized on web pages, you can:

Brief more effectively your web designer when in need of creating new ad areas

Offer more ad opportunities to your own direct customers

Utilize the standard “creatives” that your customers may have designed for other campaigns (without requiring them to design custom sized ads for your site only)

Tap into the opportunities offered by ad networks, who rely heavily on these specific ad formats

The most common online ad formats are banners, flashing or animated ads on the top of the screen, skyscrapers, vertical usually found at the left or right side of a webpage, or the square box, which is found in the majority of Web 2.0 sites like Mashable! or ReadWriteWeb.

Standard ad formats are the heritage of the print advertising medium in which advertising agencies have long established a fixed, common structure for advertising spaces, to manage orders ad productions costs more efficiently.

The main references for online standard ad formats are the IAB’s Ad Unit Guidelines and Google AdSense Ad Formats which have been directly derived from the already existing ones. For online ad formats all dimensions are always measured in pixels and the recommended file weight is about 20-40k.

In this mini guide you can find a visual gallery of all the standard, official, ad formats utilized on the Internet.

This is one of the more common ad formats on the web. Its main characteristic is to be well-integrated into content, associating your message with highly specific site-related articles.

One of the most recent ad formats introduced by IAB, very similar to the banner ad but larger in size.

The classic 468 x 60 pixel banner is the workhorse of web advertising. It is found in the vast majority of sites and is still one of the biggest money makers because of its very popular and effective above-the-fold positioning which provides exceptional visibility.

Leaderboards are very common in sites as they provide very good visibility. Slightly larger than banners ads, normally appear at the top of the page. They allow advertisers to usually use regular-size banners in the same space, so they are easy to work with.

A very high impact ad usually displayed at the right side of the screen. Skyscrapers are becoming more and more common as a less intrusive way to attract users who are annoyed by the banners ads.

Buddy Media has for some time been acting as a multi-faceted guide to businesses in an online setting that increasingly calls for investment in social integration and social marketing. The company has done everything from managing fairly common-seeming advertising campaigns to developing social applications.

Today it unveiled a service called Buddy Brain for “app-vertisers” to more closely observe and manage intel emerging from campaigns conducted in the social realm.

BuddyBrain is segmented into four main quadrants: project center, intelligence center, reference tools, and social wire. A dashboard offering a view of information culled from each sector acts as a sort of welcome screen to one’s account. Naturally, active projects are shown with especial prominence on the page. And beneath the surface, data provided by most every component held within the application is elegantly presented. Details have been well attended to.

The company is issuing this command center as a kind of organizational utility. Better to grasp the workings of the social application space, observe media chatter, maintain focus on the ABCs of project development and execution.

Entice more brands to make the leap into social advertising and to better service existing clientele, keeping to an order of accountability and results. Of course, any reasonable intimation of the marketing space will regard such attentions as crucial.

The purpose of BuddyBrain is really to wrap several pieces into one streamlined setup. In addition to its case-by-case, client-by-client analysis, Buddy Media utility’s analysis also makes evident some broad, industry-wide findings.

Those users interacting with said applications spend roughly 2 and 1/2 minutes with each, a time span clearly assessed to be far greater than banner ads and television spots;

85% of users returned for more time spent, and over half returned semi-regularly within 30 days of installation.

Media and business and its growing role in the social sphere online in various specialists are catering services to the branded world to better connect to citizens of the cloud.

Apple chief executive Steve Jobs unveiled the new iPod models and iTunes stores upgrades for the coming holiday season.

An upgraded iPod Touch model made slimmer than the original version and with a built-in speaker. The iPod lineup combines feature upgrades with price cuts of as much as 100 dollars on higher end models.

IPod Touch models with 32 gigabytes of memory are priced at 399 dollars while a 16-gigabyte version will sell for 299 dollars and an eight-gigabyte Touch for 229 dollars.

Statistics showing iPods command nearly 74 percent of the MP3 market and said that more than a hundred million applications for iPhones and iPod Touch models have been downloaded since the “App Store” opened 60 days ago.

Apple incorporated motion-sensing “accelerometer” technology from its iPhones and iPod Touch models into the new Nano, which adjusts screens to how the devices are held and lets people shuffle music with “a shake. You just take your iPod, shake it and it’s shuffled.

iPod Touch is the best portable device for listening to music or watching videos. Now you can make a pretty good argument for it being the best portable device to play games on.

The motion-sensing feature of iPod Touch allows the device itself to be used as a controller with tilting or twisting movements.

Video conferencing tools allow you to use your standard webcam and broadband Internet connection to have multi-party videoconferences. Once reserved only to high-end and very costly proprietary hardware systems, videoconferencing tools and services have sharply grown in number and they now offer multiple useful alternatives that you can start using without having to spend a dollar.

Video conferencing tools often integrate some complementary features beyond video, audio/VoIP and text chat, such as a file transfer facility or an audio/ video recording feature.

In all cases their setup is extremely simple and can be completed in a matter of clicks. The quality of the video when using these tools can vary a great deal, but it generally is most influenced by two factors:

1) The quality of your webcam

2) The speed /bandwidth of your Internet connection.

To easily select which video conferencing tools would best match your specific needs, I have prepared a simple table, comparing their different key features:

Streaming feeds number: Shows how many cameras can stream simultaneously

Text-chat: Integrates a text-chat feature for you to send written messages to other participants

File transfer: Allows you to send files to other people in the meeting

Session Recording: Lets you record all of the video feeds and audios

Web-based: Determines whether you need to download a software client in order to use the service

Below are some of the video conferencing tools (where you can video call three or more people) from simple video calling tools (like Skype) where you can video conference with only one person at a time. It would best to be one of business communication where clients are overseas and such. Enjoy.
